Help choose a Lego Star Wars 10th annaversiry set (2009)
snefroe replied to Legoman's topic in LEGO Star Wars
a big UCS space ship is all i need. no figs are required ... the "$150/150EUR" is strange though... a set valued at 150 EUR, should be at least $200... |-/ -
well i'd like a UCS blockade runner or something of the sorts. don't care about figs, i just want a decent size and lots of details and yeah, sure some room to modify ...
-
i like the idea, but i would have created somethng entirely different...

1) this may surprise you, but lego has actually gone down in price. sets of the 80's-90's were far more expensive than current sets. just check the prices in the catalogs and x2 . that would more or less be the price you'd get today. A classic space monorail would cost about 350 euro today.... who would buy that today? 2) at least you get some decent quality in return. SW sets are considered top of the line. i can only dream of MM sets of that quality, or do you really think i prefer the MM aliens over the SW creatures? 3) i see people complaining about the high number of great sets. so now they have to make a choice what to buy and what not to buy. For most of us, it's always been like this. it's unfortunate, but most of us just don't have everything we want, that's life, get over it... sorry if that sounds harsh, but that's reality. if the Captain prefers to put his martial arts at the top of the list, with only sw as second place, so be it, that's his choice... 4) nobody says that you guys have to buy everything this year. some sets will remain in the catalogs for two years and if you're lucky even longer. and the impulse sets... well... 8 sets x 3euro... 24euro hm... buying those will surely not lead to a divorce, right?

Note to all members: We've been asked to remove the major 2008 MM sets for the moment (so not the impulse sets and the MM truck), so no panick if you can't find the pics in this thread anymore. We'll get them back up when it's ok again...

reading dark tower part 2 right now, next to Lyn Macdonald's excellent book called "Passendale 1917", as a part of 4 or 5 books... also started "Maigret aan de Rivi

thanks, Legomilk! as usually you seem to be pretty close to some "new sets for the next year"-goldmine... :-P would you happen to know why Lego produced this (lego basic) set as an "50 years celebration set" instead of a set for the regular and far more popular themes? any idication that they're going to produce "50 years" sets from other (minifig) themes of the past?

well... feel free to set up a poll with insectoids yourself *sweet* I am kinda amazed about the longevity of the poll though 8-

ok people... this is getting kinda out of hand here; people asking for all sorts of tags will just not do. I also see some cascade effect of people asking for a tag that kinda concerns me. So, no more tags for a while. First all the ones that have a tag need to show they deserve one by : being a good, constructive and polite EB member on all our forums writing good posts in the mecha and space forum Snefroe

well maybe it's also a question of having four pages of new topics every day. it's difficult for the hardcore EB members to keep up with all of them, so they kinda select topics they want to post in by just checking who's been the last one to have posted in a topic. if they know the person really well, they'll post too, otherwise they often go to the next topic...

well i never cared about the colour change to be honest, but Gyl's point about technic is a very good one. I find that lego technic has seen some decisions that just keep on annoying me every time i see a big technic set. the most annoying one is the use of these non studded technic bricks in the sets. Old technic bricks were so easy to use in any moc you wanted to build, and you could even use them as classic bricks, but the modern technic bricks make it impossible to add normal bricks or plates.

honestly, i wish they hadn't created this line. Some extra city sets or castle instead would have been better. At best they're parts packs if they're not too expensive.

hm... at first i thought we were supposed to guess the member's name with whom we would associate the sentence... |-/ yeeeees... this sounded familiar.... X-D
-
think it's a custom set though. it has the icon of the KLM, so sure it could be a promo but i think it's waaaaaay too big to be a promo. i think the parts are painted... |-/
-
thanks Sinner for talking the time to give them a tag. yeah... i'm kinda behind on all sorts of things... :-$ however, last time i checked i couldn't give tags anymore. oh well, thanks again *sweet*
-
well at first i wasn't convinced at all. hardly any details, weird color combinations, too many basic bricks instead of smooth lines... but it's kinda growing on me. sure , 120 euro is a lot and i can't really see where all those 1800 parts go into, but i think it's a great display set to show friends and family that lego is not just a stupid toy.

hm.... |-/ not so sure about you, yoda! last time in Windsor something like this happened: Kim: "Yeah! a pirate lagoon! So who of the guys in the other ship will be our target?" Yoda: "SNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" so excuse me for being highly suspicious when you now want to side with me against your former viking buddies in crime |-/ X-D splash on!! :-P .... maybe an umbrella would work too... |-/ and ah yes! i got my prize from last year in the mail last friday! unfortunately the box was so much damaged that i think it was also on that "around the world trip the Swedes did just before arriving in Germany"

Bring it on, doc! :-P do your worst! :-P no extra bathing towels ! >:-( if i bring those, where on earth would i leave all the parts i'm buying in billund? nonono... not more than 10% of the suitcase can be taken up by clothes! or i could just play this game in the nude and then get dry again in Danish sun, you know like the noodswoosher does his thing in the nude! X-D But then, danish weather is like the people living there, isn't it, CRAP, so most definitely NO SUN! or maybe i'll just get myself warm by visiting the vault, pabs, special shops and things :-P

can an admin move this to the ebay madness topic, please? btw, i'm not so sure this is a ridiculous price. it's one of the most expensive and wanted sets around. a MISB one often goes away for a very high price
