hm.. at first i thought it was kinda cool, but hm.. i don't know really... it has the tail of the airplanes, a fairly old window, the roof... hm... think it's too big... i'd like to see it in high quality before making up my mind... i do hope they'll change the colours. orange, black, white, blue... hm... the raft looks cool though. wonder what's inside the chopper

just read in the newspaper that legoland billund will have its 40th anniversary next year and they're going to spend lots of extra millions to celebrate! should be interesting! *sweet*

that's a different story, if i'm not mistaken. what made those records so brilliant is the way the beatles created modern pop music with these songs.
-
saw "stardust" the other day... hm... some nice parts in there, but in general not all that great, except for the computer graphics... g... that sounds like a comment to a lego set, doesn't it?

i'm only a simple historian, so don't shoot me if i'm not making any sense... Wouldn't you, as a human being, just crash against the ceiling of the elevator?

Are Scala Elements in a 'System' Creation Legal?
snefroe replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
well i never cared about my mocs being 100% lego... that only limits my creative input.... why should i allow that? because i can tell people it's 100% lego? why on earth would they care? why not use a lego cockpit? why would you wanna limit yourself to only lego cockpits? -
Are Scala Elements in a 'System' Creation Legal?
snefroe replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
well actually, this is a very old subject in the world of Lego space. Some space freaks not only use parts from different brands, but also non-lego things. as a kid, i even tried to use plastic bottles of water as windows/hull for space ships... I don't care at all what people use, i don't care if it's lego or not, as long as it's creative, as long as the builder enjoyed building it... who cares if the studs don't say "lego"... adding parts from other lines, like duplo, scala, belville, or even non-lego parts, gives an extra challenge to any builder, it forces you to think outside the box, to go to territories most of us will never go... IMO, that should be encouraged, instead of asking questions like "is this allowed?" Who are you to tell me what i can or can't use? What makes you or Lego the authority to decide? -
i too would like to see some extra stuff :-$ but i think we should keep a limit to the price involved, considering not all of us are multi millionaires... :'-) X-O *sing*

just wondering if it's smart to cluster the sets like this. think he may get more out of it if he were to sell the big sets seperately.
-
ok, so they'll give us two more sets, then what? Is it like the viking theme? two more sets and gone, or is this just the first two of something more? I don't mind aliens... there are cool aliens in the sw sets too, I just don't like these space aliens. However, i don't think Lego will change the mf vs alien theme only because I want them to. after all, it takes a looooong while before Lego has figured out their product is not always exactly the way the community wants it... so maybe... in a few years time... there is hope....

i was told a new wave would be coming in 2008, but i'm not looking forward to it. I still only have the Rhino and, in hindsight, bought it for waaaaay too much money. Paid 100euro, now, it's 69 euro... :'-) X-O Hope these new ones are better than the current sets...

i'm having mixed feelings about Lego's direction. As said before by others, castle and star wars are doing great, *sweet* i don't think castle is in a golden age. assuming your success needs to be a bit longer than 6-8 months before you can call it a golden age. no doubt, sw is in a golden age. 1 bad thing: prices for these sets are oh so high... Not sure about city though. a year ago, i would have said that's in a golden age as well, but now i feel they're running around in their typical circle again. they can't seem to step away from the police theme for more than two years or so and they're still not producing a large variaty of city sets... it's not bad, but i don't see a golden age... then there are the weird decision-themes, like aquaraiders and mars mission.... don't see the point of having those in the catalog... not sure where these two are going to, don't know what Lego's long term plans are for these two... The other licenses seem to have had their best days. HP, Ferrari, Spidey, batman,... Maybe the golden age for the licenses, if there ever was one, is gone... there used to be a time when lego thought every license would be an instant hit.... those days are over, that's for sure... golden days of bionicle and exo force are over too. in both themes i find that lego is repeating itself.... nothing interesting here... popularity of bionicle has gone down for quite some time now... "creator" is becoming Lego basic of the past. Creator is in a golden age, no doubt lego technic? hm... their last golden age was about 25 years ago i think.... but what i most of all hate is the way in which lego commercialises her products these days: some sets are only available via sah or tru, so if there's no tru in your vicinity, you have to pay extra for posting and shipping for sah, for a toy that is, btw, already quite expensive. then there's the issue of the golden c3po and the other real exclusive sets.... Lego seems to think there are different markets with different needs, they don't realise there's one large community that wants access to all products lego is producing... in that way, i don't think they're in a good direction at all...

nonono this isn't blue track era, Brickster. this is a bit later. blue tracks are 70's

well actually i did take the time to look into this subject, and i'd have to say this is highly interesting and extremely valuable for anyone studying social structures. Nobody of you seem to understand this doesn't have anything to do with Lego, as such, they are observing how people interact with one another, how they set up hierarchies, how rules are being set up in groups, how groups and individuals deal with power... Turning this into 'let's bash communism' is really waaaaay below the mark. this has nothing to do with communism or politics, it's sociology, it's about how to live, interact with people in a structure where peope have different social positions. As another article stated, the families of these cildren have a 'social liberal' profile, in European words they're gategorised in the political midfield ranging from socialist parties, democratic-katholic to liberal parties. No communism there. this bit, for instance, is quite interesting: "I'm making an airport and landing strip for my guy's house. He has his own airplane," said Oliver. "That's not fair!" said Carl. "That takes too many cool pieces and leaves not enough for me." "Well, I can let other people use the landing strip, if they have airplanes," said Oliver. "Then it's fair for me to use more cool pieces, because it's for public use." in other words, this project allowed children to learn how to cooperate, how to work together, how to negociate in life. I fail to see what this has to do with communism. and you guys obviously did not seem to have read this either: We met as a teaching staff later that day. We saw the decimation of Lego-town as an opportunity to launch a critical evaluation of Legotown and the inequities of private ownership and hierarchical authority on which it was founded. Our intention was to promote a contrasting set of values: collectivity, collaboration, resource-sharing, and full democratic participation. We knew that the examination would have the most impact if it was based in engaged exploration and reflection rather than in lots of talking. We didn't want simply to step in as teachers with a new set of rules about how the children could use Legos, exchanging one set of authoritarian rules with another. Ann suggested removing the Legos from the classroom. This bold decision would demonstrate our discomfort with the issues we saw at play in Legotown. And it posed a challenge to the children: How might we create a "community of fairness" about Legos? "full democratic participition" ... g... isn't that a pilar of American democracy? it was, last time I checked... in fact, I'm very impressed by the commitment of this staff. They're really involved in how the kids play, learn and grow into responsable adults. I wish every kid on the planet had so much attention from us, adults...

but then, do you know ANY band that hasn't stolen licks from others? |-/

well i seem to remember that when it was first announced that they would be playing together again, 14 million people world wide wanted to see them. so i guess a ballot system might just be fair. i just wonder how they'll sound...

not every set goes on sale, unfortunately... Vikings was the exception, because the line was ending... the trick they're using these days is to create superpacks with some good selling, big set + a few les than interesting sets, like a train, a station and two rail packs in one huge pack. That seems to work pretty well...
-
just saw them today as well! *sweet* it looks great really! imagine having an entire shelf of boxes like those with sets in them :-$ *sweet* *sweet*

hm... still so far away... if MM isn't released at around april, we'll get MM in september again Maybe castle sets i suspect a new bionicle line whatever it is + technic Don't expect city in september next year... don't think we saw anything this year's september, so i don't see city in september next year.... i guess it'll be most of all star wars, probably including a UCS set and 1 or 2 big sets + remakes of something already produced, like a snowspeeder or something I'm hoping for some great creator sets, like a new car (remember the big black car, or the yellow one before that) or maybe something closer to the real cars (cfr the Beetle), maybe another airplane... don't know... Lego seems to be experimenting with new lines lately, like impulse or this new series of 10000 number sets (taj Mahal,...) In that universe, the options are infinite: Lego can design brilliant models of whatever with the current colors/parts... however, i don't really care what to expect in september; i'm no longer interested in full lines, i just buy what i like, being it an impulse, castle or creator set

X-D i don't think it'll be that difficult to spot us. Just go to the pab, look for the crazy people who are practically sitting in the huuuuuuge box with parts.... that's us... and ah yes, we'll most likely wear our yellow Lego t-shirts.... with pride! *sweet* Or you can just ask tt to give you his phone number, and when you get in the park, give him a call... :-$

just wonder to see how high this will go. It's a very early space set, MISB, but from the pre-minifig era, so it won't go THAT high, but I'm curious... i think it's quite rare as well, but for some reason, most of the collectors don't go this far back... 510 dollars... not bad...

so do you want us to arrive the day before? on Thursday? or do we just arrive at 10-11 on that friday?
