  1. what Sam is saying here, is that it actually looks similar... after all, Sam is the man with the source :P i'd be happier with the super star destroyer, tho... hm... we'll never see that one as a set, I fear...
  2. you think these pittyfull toy soldiers are any match to the combined fleet of the alliance? wot a joke!! one captain is more involved in picking up donuts for lunatic emperor; another one only has these gungans or whatever to fight and together they're not even capable of keeping one rebel into custody i'm thinking of redrawing from battle, 'cause there's really no honour in defeating this crappy emperor and his even crappier fleet of flying metal scrap... why should i help Sarq and the others? they can take out the emp with their eyes closed :P
  3. Actually its a DVD on the SW music!!!!!!! Haven't see it yet but I'm sure its pretty decent ;) well i'm not really sure what they meant. i guess they'll talk about the music and show parts of an unfinished film...
  4. i just saw an add on tv for the soundtrack of ep3. it seems that has an extra dvd with additional footage.
  5. G... this new kid on the block really has an attitude problem.... at least the old emperor shared the love for donuts with millions of people, but this new character ... HE STOLE MAN U!!!!!!!! He should be stopped, before he becomes too strong... he even might take over Eurobricks... Perhaps all the other beings should form an alliance...
  6. The change of emperor was very shocking news. It even reached me on my small planet far away... Lord Vader, how are you going to explain this to the people and you're own soldiers? Is Orlego really in a coma... or is this a coup d'
  7. thank me for what? i didn't give you any info at all :P :P
  8. i guess the best way to figure out if this is a cool set, a set you can display at home, is to ask non-lego folk if it's really credible enough as a display set. i know lots of non-lego people loved the Star destroyer. they did not look at it as a toy, but as a display model. wonder what they'll say about the ball... i think non-lego people are able to look at this more objectively than we are.
  9. oops... i have no idea what you're talking about... :P i know it's part of a competition, but that's it...
  10. ep3 got just 3,5 stars from Roger Ebert, a well known film critic. i've heard of more critical reviews here, but i guess most of those are from filmcritics and they're always against commercial films for some reason. Most even torpedoed ep1 and 2. However, according to these people ep3 still is a lot better than 1 and 2.
  11. this looks great :oo one thing tho... these tauntauns, aren't they supposed to be hairy? don't they have some kind of fur? now they're looking a bit like sheep without wool :P
  12. are you guys really going to spend 370
  13. Sam, could you ask your source about the dimensions of the crawler?
  14. it's number 3 for me as well. i'm not going to see it tomorrow night, but i'll probably go next week with a friend of mine... it's highly unlikely that i'll go see it twice, or perhaps in a few months, when the film is in its last few weeks i am thinking about a marathon of all 6 films tho, but i'll have to wait for that until the 3rd is on dvd...
  15. I was going to point this out too. When I was there all they had was a load of loose footballs and a small selection of blue and black bricks. I may have gone just before they replaced the stock though, as there were loads of empty tubs on the wall. Jon. the pab in Windsor is about as large as in Billund. i'm more or less guessing here, i never counted the number of boxes, but i think it's more or less the same. Billund might be a bit larger, but it won't be much. the parts in both are practically the same: there's a section of traditional basic bricks and plates in yellow, blue, brown, green, purple, red, black and white; a section with tree parts and flowers, transparent parts, like the classic car windscreen, and special parts. these special parts were really disappointing: they were all bionicle stuff, like shields, masks and other weird parts i'd never use, like this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=44034 also basket balls and footballs. the largest plates i found were 4 x 4 and 2 x 8. in all, i'd give this pab at best 6/10.
  16. picking up on ras74's message, i've often noted that toy shop personel don't know very much about lego products. at best they know what's in the shop, but apart from that, they just don't have a clue. a sandcrawler, Eurobricks, brickshelf,... whatever... they just don't know... don't care... Mister Phes, don't tell me that you don't see the marketing behind the death star news a while ago. for instance, the news about the death star reached the forums just before the toy fair in the US, than "a legogirl" told some one to watch the lego website on Wednesday... that's marketing, that's just the way capitalism in a free market works, and even we, Eurobricks are a part of that... I don't mind that, btw, i just wondered why they haven't given us anything more than what we already know... Perhaps they're just trying to keep all media on the existing models... do we have any numbers on current sw sales, btw?
  17. it's funny... in the past, TLC did "leak" all sorts of info and pics on several models/themes... if you read our own topics of the past, you can clearly see a marketing mechanism behind it. the death star is the best example... this time, they're really trying to keep this a secret. i wonder why that is...
  18. welcome, alienwar9, you've been reading our posts for quite some time now, you say, so you're already familiar with many of the honourable, but weird, sometimes even sick, minds that are at work here... ... good... that will speed up the process of becoming one yourself.... :P tell me, how do you search for sets in Europe? I mean, you don't just enter a toy shop and find rare sets these days. where do you look for them?
  19. sorry Phes, i was refering to the minifigs with magnets... you've seen one series of three (trooper-yoda-Anakin), there also is a series of 8 minifigs (a knight, construction worker, can't remember the rest) there was no price tag on it, tho...
  20. 3 minifigs for 8 pounds is not very cheap, in my book. i've seen them in Windsor, and they were not really popular. i guess there are a few problems: 1) you only get one trooper, not even just a soldier, but a green trooper. so that basically comes down to 8 pounds for a trooper (i'll assume you don't need another anakin/yoda) 2) there are other products to build an army of troopers, for instance, you can buy keyrings (3 troopers for the price of 2: 2 pounds in all); get the ring out of the head, fill the gap with model cement, give it a white touch with a paint brush; paint the back side of the torso white, and for a nowtrooper that you should do nicely... a stormtrooper might be a different story, but shouldn't be that difficult either, i think why aren't guys doing that? in fact, most people who were buying minifigs, got lots of keyrings, not the magnetised guys. by the way, they're part of a larger series of magnetised minifigs, however none of the rest is sw-related... i've just pulled the ring out of the R2D2's i bought, and i can't see any difference with my other r2d2's...
  21. It did have computers, and that was a rather small set - I think a better example of a 'new' large set would be the Falcon, which had an EXCELLENT interior. i think you're wrong... you see, the falcon was still part of the old strategy, meaning, let's build darn good models with lots of details. costs are not top priority. this years' models are already part of the new strategy: let's build good models without having to spend too much on production... Look at the turbo tank, a large set, that also doesn't really have many details inside... look at the way tlc did the cockpit windows: just a few transparant tiles here and there, nothing detailed, what so ever... a brown seat is in the cockpit, i believe... i think that's TLC's new approach: keep the number of different parts limited; avoid details unless you have to; use parts we're using in other models as well;... one of the reasons why tlc is using technic threads for the crawler, for instance, is because they're also on the wookie attack; the reason why they're using bricks instead of plates, is because bricks are far more cost efficient... i hope i'm wrong. i'd love to see a crawler based on the falcon philosophy, but i don't think that's going to happen... whenever i see a set, i see the principles of the new strategy, unfortunately... another example would be the computer stickers of the yellow starfighter: these are not part of their production, so it's a lot easier to "pull the plug" on that production line. it's just a contract with another company that has to be dropped, that's it. a lot cheaper than organising the production of printed tiles...
  22. about the Kingston shop: It's located in the new shopping centre of Kingston, 2nd floor you can easily reach Kingston by train or by the underground. the tube will bring you all the way to Richmond, which is not very far from Kingston. once you're there, you can get the train to Wimbledon. Kingston is stop 5, i believe. If you take the train from Waterloo to Kingston, it'll cost you 14 pounds (incl. return). the shopping centre is just 10 minutes walk, you can see it from the station. the shop itself is not very spectaclar, it has an average pab, and most of the sets. when i was there, there was also a huge box with minifig parts. you can build your own minifigs (1
  23. i agree with Jon and Ed. you don't need a "Pirates of the Carabbeans license" to have a decent pirates theme... TLC has proven in the past that they can produce a good pirates theme without having a pirates license. i think we're done with these licenses.
  24. that's cheaper than in Belgium: 118
