:P :P :P so you realised that what you'd said was blasphemy in Spain... many people were tortured by your predecessors for this kind of talk! and don't Christ is also an extremely important person for the arabs... perhaps you can try and find Asians instead... but then, they are so far away.... and yoda, no fois gras! don't support people who torture animals so you can have good food! >:(

I have to agree with you Hobbes. I love looking at these old sets. I would have loved to had this old western train, or any of the other sets in this catalogue. They bring back a lot of my vision of what Lego is all about (the slogans mentioned above). The 1st time seeing these sets is really a neat feeling. I'd still take any of these sets and enjoy building them. we call this "nostalgia" :P when i was going thru the catalogs of the last 30-40 years, i was surprised to see so many great sets and ideas, not just in the catalogs, but also in the idea books of the 70's when minifigs weren't even around....
-
hold on... i just checked the catalog index and it seems lego had another slogan in the late 70's in belgium anyway: Lego, elke dag weer nieuws en anders!", meaning: "Lego, every day something new and different." started in 1975 ended in 1978 or so...

i just read this on belug.be: http://www.gent.be/gent/nieuws/showitem.as...NAV=FALSE&BH=ON there's this artist in Gent, a city of i guess 100000-150000 people, called Pier de Kock; he made a poster with minifigs: the guy to the left says "happy new year", the others respond: "same to you!" the city produced 20000 of these posters and asked the people to put them on their windows! it's all in their local dialect... is that what you're also going to do, tt? :P

in flemish we the expression: Zalige kerstmis, gelukkig nieuwjaar! we tend to link christmas and new year...

i have a few sets with these old minifigs; true none of them was very spectacular, but what makes them vital is the fact that they paved the way for the real MF-world; it's not really fair to judge these sets based on what we can do with lego anno 2005. back in those these days i was already very impressed by the old fire truck and its yellow ladder, the black police boat,... i also don't think they had a slogan back then

lego belgium has increased sales of 20% but then, sales have been really bad in the last ten years. According to a rep, they've lost 30% of sales, most going to playmobil. their own explenation is this: playmobil and lego were both confronted by new toys 10 years ago. Lego responded by exploring new toys, like electronic toys, playmobil stuck with the old formula. 10 years later, lego found they made a mistake by changing the strategy and toys. so they decided to go back to bricks, this year... Sure, they have a very good year for certain themes this year, but: 1) they've scaled down production in order to save money, so they've been producing fewer sets 2) there's something wrong with supply lines, many sets don't arrive in time, it seems... so even tho it may seem they're highly successful this year, lack of availability of sets may also be a result of both arguments not everything is going great in belgium, anyway. Vikings, for instance, is not that successful as i thought....

no problem
