very nice! perhaps you can add hp's graveyard to it...

That's pretty harsh for never having seen the set in person, sne. It really is one of those sets that's better when you're actually looking at it - I'm sure you know the feeling. I do have the 7044, but it's disassembled now, so I can't take a comparison pic. I wasn't that fond of it, though, and find this to be an immensely more realistic, less <insert that tiresome argument>, and overall better chopper. i'm just saying that I think it's ugly, that's all.

are you, btw, a police fan or a sting fan first?

i like it also... in fact, i'd go to war with this: it has the same weapons, it's a lot smaller target and i'd think it's faster ... in any case, real nice! *satis*

i'm confused here... at first i thought you guys were refering to the yellow links at the beginning of the month. then Apo changed it to brown, since then i'm getting brown links. that works great! so no problems there. the only yellow text i still have is the text that refers to parts you've copied from other posts, like "Mr. Phes says:" followed by whatever you've copied, but that's it... But as jipay said, the month's almost over anyway... -
have a nice one, vader!

yep

nice moc! reminds me a lot of the playmobil stagecoach of so many years ago...

thanks for the review, j -i don't really like this chopper. It doesn't look like a heavy rescue helicopter. it's as if they've taken the cockpit from a sportsplane or so... compare this with the cockpit of a Seaking or a Blackhawk... and then you get these red slopes besides the canopy... it just looks ugly... i also wonder how this pilot is going to see anything that's in the water. he's not even sitting straight up... -I don't like the landing gear. the construction is too heavy for what it really is... -you're supposed to put the stretcher outside, next to the chopper, and the medic is supposed to go in the back. It refers to the old helicopters of the early 50's (Remember MASH?) Lego should have taken the very old lego helicopter as a model for this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=6691-1 to me, this thing isn't a rescue helicopter, it sure is a chopper, but nothing more... i guess it also doesn't fit the hospital platform, so it also lacks compatibility as well... the minifigs don't look very interesting either. Sure the pilot looks nice but doesn't save the set from crashing down...

How to steal Lego sets... rather, how NOT to...
snefroe replied to JINZONINGEN73's topic in General LEGO Discussion
1) honestly, i don't think i could get away with this type of fraud. In my experience, people behind the counter are very much aware of what a set costs. I often talk to them when i'm buying sets and they always seem well informed about the stuff they sell... So i guess this guy dealt with students working in the shop... They are very often not particularly interested in the product, but in the money they make... 2) you have to put it all in a context. We're not going to stop the World Champianships Football in Germany because a few Turkish and Swiss idiots decided to attack each other after one particular game... This is not going to damage ebay or bricklink.... These things just happen. I just hope Kim and Morton will be getting their sets... To me BL is a vital instrument to get the pieces i want without having to spend too much money on sets. It's only a shame that lego.com is still quite expensive and doesn't have a decent catalog for parts... -
happy birthday, jon! hope you got lots of lego!! *satis*

Quit spending all your money on Lego! A digital camera is a must. How else can you take pictures of Lego? yeah... you claim you have a collection of pirates, but we've never seen any evidence :P
-
you rang mylord? Gouverneur Grootzeil is Dutch and means "Large Sail" Kapitein Knoest is also Dutch. It means: Captain "gnarl"

i was browsing thru my 1990 catalog when my eye caught this pirate fortress called Eldorado... However, the text underneath the set didn't mention Eldorado at all... Instead, it said "Koningsburg", translated in English that's "King's keep"; for the french speaking public in Belgium it's "Mont Royal", which is the French translation for the Dutch title... It's weird tho, because "Eldorado" is a well known name in these parts of the country... the Barracuda pirate ship doesn't exist in Belgium either. It's "Norse Haai", or, "Bad-tempered Shark" ... So i was just wondering what the official titles of these sets are in the rest of the world...

once again, a great review, jay! :oD the set is a bit smaller then i expected, but it still looks quite nnice. think i'll buy two next year, one to leave in the box for a while, the other to assemble
-
well it seems you can already order the exo force sets and they were supposed to be released in january... Sw however, is a license, so i think Lucas will see to it that no sets are released before he wants to...

i agree. they share themes, ideas, perhaps they "steal" or "borrow" them after the release of the original product. there clearly is a competition going on between both companies. i remember when i was young, there were two major toys: Lego and playmobil, they used to stand right next to each other in the shops and i know i sometimes decided on playmobil, sometimes lego, depending on the interest at that point. for instance, i got the playmobil pirate ship for my birthday after having seen a pirate film, days before, i was still convinced i'd go for a lego space ship... So it's no coincidence that lego tries to connect with the media (film, tv-series,...) and at the same time tries to "steal" away playmobil fans by producing sets that are almost lego versions of playmobil sets; many companies are doing that with the lego company also...

i'd check with the postal services to find out where the goods are exactly and if they, indeed, are involved in this operation... If they are part of the case against this guy, then i would try and find out what is going to happen with the goods and you're money. I guess us customs will be able to trace the goods involved via ebay and bricklink records anyway... -
How to steal Lego sets... rather, how NOT to...

from what I read, he did this: 1) took a copy of a bar code of a cheap set 2) copied this by use of a computer 3) printed it on stickers, so he would have bar code stickers of a cheap set 4) went to a toy shop and applied the new bar code stickers on expensive sets 5) took a large number of one set, but unloaded only one so the employee would only "read" this one set with the fake bar code 6) the employee would either multiply this price by the number of sets still in his cart or would "reread" the barcode of this set that he/she already has in his/her hands. 7) the guy pays X times the price, indicated by the fake bar code 8) then he'd sell the sets that he bought on ebay for the real price, leading to huge profts... -

on the hand, you can't help but question the intelligence of these employees as well. Surely you must know that a sw Falcon costs just a little bit more than 40$ or so... -
Bandit's Secret Hideout Photo Review 1
snefroe replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
thanks very much for this review! What strikes me is the simplicity of the set: just a few large bricks, a few plates, a bird, grass and a "keep out" sign and you've got a rocky formation in the wild West! and it actually looks good! the office should have been a bit more detailed, tho. and that seat doesn't really work in this theme... but apart from that: very nice... the skull and the cowboy hat looks brilliant! however, the price may have been rather high... 40$... hm... -
Is Knights Kingdom a continuation of the Castle theme?
snefroe replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
yes it is Orient Adventure carries a different name to Adventurers, and has a stronger storyline and more defined characters (like Knights Kingdom) than Adventurers but is still part of the Adventurers theme? But... Knights Kingdom has similiar differences (like the ones between Adventurers and Orient Expedition) to Castle yet because it carries a different title its different to Castle? Double standards!!!! i'm so confused now *wacko* *wacko* *wacko* :P -
i guess he's just hoping a few people will start bidding against each other, pushing the price up...
