  1. Death Star: 3,803 pieces, $399.99 Shield Helicarrier: 2,996 pieces, $349.99 Firehouse HQ: 4,600+ pieces, $349.00 Compared to the other large sets, $349 seems suspiciously cheap. I guess they could include NONE of the main characters and just expect you to buy the ecto1, but that would be unprecedented. Maybe it's a typo and it should be $449.00...
  2. I put my modular buildings on display and don't really "play" with them, by I do love getting inspired on occasion to change the exterior scene or make new interiors for them. I know the latter is not visible, but I know it's there and it felt great doing it. I've built all of the modular buildings and one thing I have to say is that the build would be extremely boring if the process didn't include builds of the interior. Some people may think the building part is a chore and just want to play with the finished product, but I rather enjoy the building steps. You get some insight on how the designer thought things through and often there are little details are only visible during the build. I would hate to be only happy that I've done with a boring build. I might as well get some 'finished' products from Hasbro.
  3. One could just bricklink the exterior and potentially save some money, but it's hard to get close to LEGO's price per brick for a still-in-production set.
  4. I hope it doesn't include the ecto1 and just expect people to buy the existing ecto1 separately. This way, there are more pieces for building details, a large enough garage for the existing ecto1, and no ugly undersize ecto1 to deal with. It's good that it opens up like the Haunted House. Having an open-back building would make it hard to integrate with modular buildings.
  5. I'm pretty sure you're joking. Just observe kids when they open their presents. Cardboard is no barrier at all. As for the indestructible clear plastic cases around some items, that needs parental help but still not enough to put stores out of business.
  6. It probably helps that LEGO has already licensed The Simpsons and it seems to be successful. I suspect that LEGO and Warner has created a specific team to handle the tangle of licensing issues in bringing anything to Dimensions. They seem to be doing a great job (or they had been working on this in secret for a long time).
  7. Minifigure's behinds have never been very attractive, with the huge "pores" and the lack of printing, so I suppose you have a point. :) I think I agree. It really depends on the type of skirt and basically if you want the minifigure to show some leg. But when I think about them having a split that goes all the way up to the waist, it seems a bit too risque, especially for the ones that only have underwear underneath. The S14 witch does have some nice stockings to show off, but not really my first choice for more exposed legs.
  8. I have seen some sellers sell custom parts from brands like brickarms. I guess that is ok since there is less chance of someone confusing the item as being made by LEGO.
  9. For the cloth skirts that are mostly common in the CMF line, there aren't any clear instructions on how to put them on but I had been putting in on so that the split is at the back. My idea was to keep the split hidden and this orientation may allow for more leg movement. In the S8 instructions, it does look like the fairy's skirt has the split at the back. http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6008293.pdf But with the newest S14 line, it finally has step-by-step instructions for the skirt (wish I had that for the one-piece nightmare that is the S2 vampire cape). And in those instructions, it has the split at the front-left side when facing the minifigure. http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6106277.pdf So is there a commonly accepted method to put on the skirt or does it vary depending on the minifigure?
  10. Then there must be some other visual way to differentiate the two otherwise identical characters. From the gameplay footage, nothing stands out to signify that this is player one and this is player two.
  11. So would the second copy have an alternative costume? That would be exciting.
  12. I think LEGO has tried this in the past. I hope we can do better now. And I hope it won't look like Jabbajaw.
  13. The workaround is to put the same figures in a Lego Dimensions expansion box!
  14. Speaking of brides and grooms, how about kids all dressed up for prom? Army builders can use them for bridesmaids and groomsmen.
  15. Yeah, It's a pretty weak witch costume. Just a hat and a broom... like something you would slap together on your way out the door. It would be so cute to have a kid in a FULL witch costume. It would be fantastic if they made some sort of paper-bag piece, with enough room for one or two 1x1 tiles to slip in.
  16. I've seen some sellers split up their inventory of an item into multiple batches, with a slight change in the item name. eg: White Brick 1 x 2 White Brick 1 x 2 A-1 White Brick 1 x 2 A-2 White Brick 1 x 2 A-3 What is the purpose of this? It's rather annoying when showing what wanted list items are in a store and then have so many repeated items being shown. Is it related to how the seller has physically organized his or her inventory? Or is it an artificial way to boost up the ranking in search results? Often some batches of a part would have slight differences in price. Obviously I would add the cheapest to my cart, but if a particular batch doesn't have enough, I have to choose from another batch. And now my cart looks like it has repeated items and I have to do mental math. :)
  17. It's win-win-win. Junior gets a new level to play and you don't have to buy a new game. You get a highly prized minifigure to put in your private shrine. Lego/Warner gets money and can practice their maniacal laughter.
  18. My guess is that they will wait until the next modular building is announced. Because if the next building is an arcade, then each midway set would be a character from a game and a scaled model of the matching arcade cabinet. Cross promotion!
  19. I too am curious about the stockholm. It's roomy enough to fit three modulars per shelf, but I wish the doors didn't have a frame that obstructs the view. The stockholm is not available in my nearby ikea so I can't even look at it. The 2016 Ikea catalog just came out and the price went up too. :( The detlof is inexpensive in comparison, but I don't like my modulars to be separated.
  20. I had contacted the developer recently and he says that he is currently focused on family stuff but will get back to updating this program eventually.
  21. Now what if LEGO did a cross-promotion between the modular arcade and the midway dimensions set. So say the robotron set will have a robotron figure AND a minifigure-scale arcade cabinet of the game. Those dimensions sets are marked up so high that it should be no problem for everything to be printed.
  22. They have very serious abs. Can probably crack a walnut with them.
  23. The thing with sets from Lego Ideas, I always find something I want to improve upon. In this set, I would want to hide the floor studs with matching tile planks to give it a wooden floor look (and raise the walls up one plate to compensate). I think it'll make it look more like a display item. I don't think I can do anything about the studs on the rounded plate on the side.
  24. Here are the games in the Midway Arcade Treasures game. Perhaps from the list we can guess at which one will be made into sets. Most likely the game will need to have a character that can be made into a minifigure. 720° 1986 Unlikely. Kid on skateboard? Too normal. Blaster 1983 Bubbles 1983 Defender 1980 Doesn't seem likely since there are no characters unless you count the humans. But it is featured in the teaser video... so maybe the main spaceship... and a lander. Perhaps a mutant lander would work (human merged with lander) Defender II (a.k.a. StarGate) 1981 Gauntlet 1985 Maybe. None of the characters are a standout, so they will either need to have all four characters or none at all. If they include the monsters, D&D collectors would love this. Joust 1982 Likely. The rider and the bird. Please make the rider look like Nausicaa. :) Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest 1986 Klax 1989 Marble Madness 1984 Paperboy 1984 Unlikely. Kid on bike? Perhaps too normal. Rampage 1986 Likely. But they do need to have all three characters. And the parts for all three minifigures already exists. Rampart 1990 RoadBlasters 1987 Robotron: 2084 1982 Likely. Main character and an enemy. Root Beer Tapper 1984 Satan's Hollow 1982 Sinistar 1982 Smash TV 1990 Unlikely. See too violent. SPLAT! 1982 Spy Hunter 1983 Maybe. Have the spy and his car, which easily lends itself to 3-in-1. Super Sprint 1986 Toobin' 1988 Vindicators 1988 And there is Xenophobe, but then they may get sued for copyright infringing Star Trek and maybe Aliens.
  25. Lego just revealed the Temple of Airjitzu set and the back of the box may have spoilers for the show. Back of box: http://images.bricks...751_box5_na.jpg In particular, there is a new character named claire.
