Oh Yeah, MAX POWER!!!!! I'm in love with this model, and it looks really good. my one and only knock is that you should have removed some of the stickers. I so wish my car had power like that. -
ULTIMATE LEGO TECHNIC 9391!
Saberwing40k replied to 88high's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It looks really thrown together, more like a bench test than an actual model. If you rearranged the motors, and used an external battery pack, it would do much good for the model. Edited to be less critical. -

100th post! It's at this point we know that Eurobricks has ruined my life. Anyway, it's update time. Man, it was a pain in the behind to get these pictures off my phone, because of the fact that i'm using a school computer, and it cannot connect to my phone due to the retarded restrictions. (don't worry, I've done my work.) Sadly, i cannot resize the images with this computer, so come back in an hour or so, and they'll be up. Edit: and here they are. So far, all I've made is a front wheel drive mechanism. this is just an initial version, and needs to be rebuilt, which probably will not happen as my younger sister has taken over my build space. However, school is ending, so I'll have much time on my hands. I've just about had enough of school and the idiots who go there. Back on topic, here it is. (i apologize for the bad pics, it was taken with my cellphone.) The shocks, unfortunately, are not stiff enough, and will have to be relocated. the bottom, showing the drive shaft. sadly, this mechanism skips, and will have to be reinforced. The steering mechanism, up close. And yes, it just drops right in the frame. Look forward to another update come Thursday. -
I've tried to build a crane of similar size to this, but it ultimately proved to be to big for the chassis to handle. good luck on this, and please improve your spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and add bigger pictures. doing that would allow us fellow builders to get a better view of what you're trying to accomplish.

Well, it's fairly simple independant suspension. However, this kind of suspension, which is technically called Swing Axle, has some disadvantages, which are detailed further in the Wikipedia article. In addition, Lego trucks with this kind of suspension flip over on their sides very easily, as Sariel found out the hard way.

Nifty set, but i don't buy system stuff anymore. i have but two complaints about it. first is the fact that the chariot is quite inaccurate, and second is the fact that the jet does not have the wing rotors. but other than that, it's awesome. oh, and YOU.MUST.SEE.THE.MOVIE. see it, see it!

Okay, but nevertheless, this model is going to lose the motorization, and the pneaumatics, which would allow it to be a pure styling exercise. instead i plan to have the following: Rear biased all wheel drive. Maybe all wheel steer, but it's unlikely. Some weird engine, maybe a transverse V-12 or a Wankel. Back seats, either accesed through gull wing doors, or suicide doors, sort of along the lines of a Mazda RX-8 Hand of God and cabin steering. Sunroof , or maybe a solid convertible roof. An 8 speed automatic, or 7 + reverse manual Black racing stripes. Adjustable suspension. However, the above is prelimanery, and i plan to change the appearence as little as possible. However, if i can, i might make it remote controlled, with a sequential gearbox, and maybe remote suspension raising. Sadly, this model is on the back burner, for now. but I'll take your advice, and take my time in making it look good. -

Well, that's why it's resting in pieces currently. it was really a rushed job, and it shows. this will end up being non power functions, but with good looks. if i were to motorize something, it would be built from scratch. maybe a LeMans DeltaWing? -
Technic Update

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????? I DON'T BELIEVE THIS! oh wait, i do. the people of Denmark are pacifists. ah well, we can always do futuristic tanks, or steampunk. -
Some of you may remember that i was trying to motorize 8070, and this is the result of that endeavor. it has pneumatic doors, hood, and spoiler, and a motorized compressor, which i ripped out for something else. it also has headlights, and 2 xl motors for propulsion. on the minus side, the drive train and pneumatics take up so much room that i could not fit an interior. as can be seen in this picture, i restored the front splitter that was dropped in the production version. i also added black racing stripes on the hood, and filled in some gaps, namely right behind the spoiler. I'm really not sure if i can salvage this project, as it is currently resting in pieces. I'm not even really sure if i where I'm going with it, as to whether I'm going to make it a pure supercar with focus on looks ala Crowkillers , or whether i want to motorize it. if i chose the latter option, I'm considering giving it all wheel drive, and a four speed gearbox. but i just can't find any room in it. so, what do you think? should i motorize it, or go for looks?

I'm not quite dead yet! this thread is still ongoing. anyway, i've got some wonderful new ideas. let's start with an idea: auto reciprocating linear actuators. the plan was to make a linear actuator which would extend, stop, and then retract, all without having to swap the direction of the drive motor. however, none of them work. i apologize for the weird colors, that's the last time i try working with them in Preview.) in this version, the differential is used to swap directions, once the actuator fully extends. unfortunately, due to how the actuator is set up, it jams, and rather than switch directions, the switch mechanism just swaps back and forth. this one works in much the same way, but is even less reliable. anyway, enough of this nonsense. let's try something better, namely, a large hubless gear: it's made out of old track links, and was to be part of a 4 functions through a turntable mechanism, which would not work because i don't have enough parts to make another. also, it likes jumping gears, and does not work at standard distances. in addition, i have these three things, which are really self descriptive. A cannon it was to be a part of my TSTTS entry, but i had no time. a front wheel drive mechanism, meant for a motorized version of 9395, being scavenged for parts. a leaf spring. the axel would attach to the red connector. please credit if you use any of this. thanks!

i'm back, and yes, it has been bashed out. it's not finished, and probably will not be. anywho, here's an intial version, at rest: and at maximum travel: it achieves roughly 7 studs of travel, but did not have enough room for steering. here's the version with wheels. i have no idea about what kind you want to use, so i used motorcycle wheels. it is by no means complete, as steering and springs need to be added, but i'll leave that to you. however, be warned that the steering arms are offset by a quarter stud. this one has nearly 7 studs of travel, as indicated by these pics: if you want to tweak it, here's the file. a word of warning, however. with this kind of suspension, you may end up hitting the ground if the vehicle goes over a big enough obstacle, and bottoms out. and another problem, which you likely won't have, is that powering them would be a pain, and i don't know how you would mount springs to achieve full travel. for your purposes, existing independant suspension would be better. anyway, i'm sure you can figure it out. happy building!

Technic duels!
Saberwing40k replied to Omikron's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Heh, i was actually going to challenge efferman to a duel. I have to admit, this is a good idea. -
Okay, I started a thread, and it degenerated into an argument about Galidor Versus Hero Factory. So, why not take it outside? Which is better, Galidor or Bionicle? I personaly think that the joints in Galidor are better, but the overall design loses. The pieces are just so hard to use with other Lego parts. The pieces don't even have any studs or Technic attachment points! From the one episode of the show I've seen, I'd say it isn't that bad, but the prices of the sets were optimistic at best, which is why it lost out overall. I really think that the money spent on that show and line should have gone to a Bionicle series. Just imagine, we could have had more sets like the Rahi, and especially the Manas. And a nice TV series to boot. So, what do you think?

A LEGO BURNOUT!
Saberwing40k replied to 88high's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
i can barely see a patch of rubber, but i have done this before, albleit not with a car. -
i was joking, okay. it's just a thing i made on a whim. oh,and everybody's reaction to the Galidor stuff is hilarious. but seriously, please don't turn this thread into a bionecle versus galidor argument. if you want to argue, do it here.

well, this was just an idea i bashed out in an hour or so, so i'm not really serious about putting this on Cuusoo . anyway, here's something else i made. It's Bulk, in XL form. Fun huh? here he is: i really want those claws in that color scheme. (that being titanium metallic and bright transparent green.) i don't really want to post all of the images, so here's the rest. Pictures of Bulk XL so, should i post this to Cuusoo? P.S. i have this: it's a generic frame for building XL heroes, like my XL Bulk. it should be available on ReBrickable, but for now you can get the file here. P.P.S. i don't know if i should be directly linking .lxf files in my posts. Mods, is that okay?

here we go. It's a thread for all of my hero factory creations, some of which are actually made in real life. first of is something i did a couple of days ago: i converted 8227 Breez into Samus Aran! as ZORK64 noted in his review, Breez is basically Samus in lime green. since you can use any color in LDD, i decided to take that even further, with a 2.0 chest plate and new helmet. man i hope we get the parts in the right color, cause this is pretty cool. oh, and is this a good enough idea to put on Cuusoo?

yeah,i know. only problem is that a charity auction would be far out of my price range.
