  1. I could have sworn that there was an earlier version with an integrated battery pack. Oh yeah, it's right here. It looks cool, but it be very expensive. Plus, proportional control with a touchscreen is going to be a pain in the behind
  2. Welcome! This model, aside from the colors, is amazing. I'll be waiting to see progress. So, do you have any pictures, and if so, where? Anywho, if you want proportional control, you might want to implement something like this: Be warned, however, that it is huge, and frighteningly complex. It is indeed proportional. Link for more pictures and info.
  3. I did something similar, but some of my dark grey axles did not have an indent, but were still weak.
  4. Yeah, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. And N2/Atomic bombs, but when are you ever going to encounter those? (always wanted to say that. ) As a matter of fact, the Crawler is going to end up costing about $169.99 USD. My reasoning is supported by the fact that 8070 is 120 euros, but costs $120 dollars in the U.S. Just look at the site, and it's (mostly) proven. Anyway, that's not what I'm excited about. 9396 is only going to cost $89 USD. Boo-yeah, I'll be buying that, maybe even two of 'em, so I could build a big twin rotor helicopter.
  5. Well, Well. This is interesting. Brickshelf member tkel recently built a fully waterproof ROV. It's fairly large, but it has a very interesting method of keeping everything dry. This is the power module. It contains both motors, the battery box, and the reciever, all in a bag. (hence the name. ) For more pictures, visit the gallery. You just gotta love magnetic propulsion.
  6. The control unit does actually return to center. MBMC137 made a truck that used the steering output to control a gearbox. However, you need the actual unit, with the antenna.
  7. This stuff's freakin' priceless. At least, it would be to a serious MOCer. My advice is to hang on to the 8466 wheels, as those are expensive, and go great with 9398. As for the rest, go on Ebay and look up what you're trying to sell. That could give you some ideas. Oh please oh please oh please give me the unimog parts and the motors! I can maybe make a deal directly.
  8. My,My,My. I don't think there's any difference aside from the color. However, if you're wringing axles just driving on the desk, it's time to redesign the truck.
  9. Yep, but if you are takin' it apart this far, try switching the 2 16z gears with one 8z and one 24z gear. For best results, the 8z gear should be on the shaft going to the motor, and the 24z gear should be on the changeover shaft. I did this with mine when I was building it, as I had read the review beforehand and anticipated the problem.
  10. No,too much is never enough! However, if you never use them, I could take a few bags of your hands. My collection needs to grow!
  11. Well, oops. I meant to say that it was radial, but typed out rotary Ah well, nobody's perfect. @Matt The Tuba Guy: That's one spiffy true radial. Here's a couple of tips on impovement: try using one of those old model team wheel hubs. the pin hole layout is identical, except for the center, which is a pin hole. Be warned, however, that the hubs are really hard to remove from the wheels, and are much wider and thicker than the wedge belt whee Edit: accursed phone makes me double post again.
  12. It's for sure not a true rotary engine. It is merely 4 sets of 4 cylinder engines geared together. Also, I've never seen a dual layer rotary engine, but that does not mean they don't exist. It's cool, but it's not really accurate.
  13. Exactly. As a suggestion, I think the car should be either a BMW i8 or a Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid. They are both immensly complex, and sexy inside and out. I truly feel that the car you build should be a concept. Oh, and make them both true hybrids, maybe even with an onboard computer.
  14. It's cool, but I wonder if StarCraft is rated under T.
  15. So, how much did this bad boy cost you? I'm only buying one if it be $150 or less.
  16. I just reread one of the TB's posts regarding the crawler, and it included prices for everything, so: 9393 - Tractor / Buggy Partcount: 353 Retail Price: 29,99€ 9396 - Helicopter / Intermeshing Rotors Helicopter Partcount: 1056 Retail Price: 89,99€ 9398 - 4x4 Crawler / Truck Partcount: 1225 Retail Price: 169,99€ In USD, this works out as $37 for 9393, $112 for 9396, and a whopping $212 for 9398! Thanfully, there is a silver lining. These prices are from germany, and last year we all thought that the unimog would cost $250. Let's hope the same thing happens with the crawler.
  17. I dunno about the proportions, but I like this set. He's big, yet poseable, and stable. However, the torso looks far to wide, and I really prefer Rocka XL's "regular proportions, but bigger" over this guy's "HULK OUT!!!" physique. Also, Rocka XL has a much better design, in my opinion. This dude just looks a bit to simple in comparsion. But overall, it's a great set, and the review was excellent.
  18. Nice axle, but what purpose does having the steering axis set at an angle serve? And why are there four links in front and a torque tube in back? An explanation would be very nice.
  19. well, from my expeirence, the 5 by 4 is the fastest. I don't suppose you're trying to make a helicopter, are you?
  20. That's mighty strange. You'd have thought that there would be tighter security around the unimog, but there wasn't. What gives?
  21. It's cool, but it's not all lego, which would make replicating it hard, due to differences in components.
  22. Okay, I'm looking for the true R/C components in the sets in this topic's subtitle. I've looked everywhere, ebay and bricklink alike, and even the crappy ones cost in the hundred usd range. buying the components by themselves is sadly no cheaper. Does anyone have these three sets at any reasonable price? At this point, it would almost be easier to hack something out of a not lego car.
  23. No, seriously. where do you get the money to do this stuff? Sponsership by Mindsensors, deal with the devil? What? Anyway, it's a delicously crazy project, and i hope to see progress, soon.
  24. By sheer coincidence, i got this book as well. it's a bit out of date, but good for inspiration. Case in point, the off roader in the book is laughably primitive compared to what some of us trial truckers have done.
  25. Excellent, especially since it uses only non modified parts, which should make the purists happy. And really, what else would you use a pullback motor for?
