  1. Maybe make a note of it at the top of the Round? I like the idea of noting Assistance (would certainly help me in running Skirmishers), but as you and I both pointed out it is confusing when noted in-line. Out of curiosity (and now that I'm thinking about it), why does Assistance apply Encouraged instead of simply doubling the Assisted Heroes' attack power (i.e. allowing it to stack with Encouraged)? Was it simply to reduce multiplier stacking, or was there some other reason?
  2. "I am indeed Ashley Barton. I apologize for not introducing myself sooner, Mr. Docken."
  3. Actually, Luke only uses 1 Ether since he has no gems; I asked that question of Mallelio for similar reasons in 104. Also, is that how Assistance works? I had assumed that it goes into effect immediately at the beginning of the Round, but your way makes sense as well; I assume that if the Skirmisher or his allies change Rows the Assistance doesn't wear off until the Skirmisher's action actually takes place? (I.E. a Skirmisher could attack from the Back Row with a bunch of Ranged characters at the top of Round 1, and then he could retrieve his thrown polearm [mandatory Front Row] at the end of the Round 2 but the others would still be Assisted?)
  4. She's actually surprisingly powerful; her attacks are "summon"-type projectiles, meaning if you use shift-targetting they won't get stuck in the ground instead of shooting at enemies (Dino Hunter, I'm looking at you ), and they have a VERY large range (you can actually hit enemies that are somewhat off-screen). The Frognado is also surprisingly fast at draining the health bars of large stationary enemies, though the cooldown really hurts. Yes, she's squishy, and yes, she doesn't hit as hard per hit as some other characters, but she hits more often and more reliably, and that's the important part.
  5. Hallow's Eve Inn of the Wayward Angel "I'm not sure which was scarier, the junk or the people carrying it." Candlelights flicker across the deathly still room as Val Helsinger voices her opinion of the night's previous tale. Next to her, the white-garbed Isaac Faare nods airily. "That was rather lovely. I do have a fondness for such knick-knacks." The storyteller in question, Lucas E. Alan, inclines his head thoughtfully towards the quiet woman in violet. "What are your thoughts, Mallora? I must confess, I was really looking forward to your opinion of my tale." A Sharkling swathed in opera clothes lays her hand upon Lucas' shoulder. "Patience, my dear Lucas. The latest member of our Society has always been a woman of few words." "Few, but not none." He looks to Mallora with concern. "All through my tale, I have heard nary a word from you. Was it truly not to your liking?" The indigo-clad woman shakes her head. "It is not your tale that weighs upon me. It is mine." Val and Isaac exchange glances. "Dramatic as an actor. Didn't expect any less. What's this weighty factor? What has you under duress?" "If it weighs so heavily on your shoulders, our cryptic new recruit, the only solution is to 'spit it out', if you excuse my crude wording. But, please, do tell." Carlotta sits back in her chair. "Come come now dear, the night is eventually going to come to an end." Lucas, too, takes his seat, gesturing to Mallora to rise as he puffs on his cigar. "The Midnight Society welcomes our latest member to tell the last tale of the night. Tell on, Mallora." Mallora nods, rising from her seat--and then without warning, snuffs out the candle. The sounds of night rush in to fill the void--hinges creaking in doorless chambers, strange and frightening sounds echoing through the halls. Darkness falls across the band--the midnight hour is close at hand. "Tonight, all of you--even you, Isaac--have told us a tale of Heroes. It could be argued that it suits your natures, or perhaps it makes for a better tale. Perhaps. But there are other things in this world--shadows in the night, shadows lurking within us all. You bring me tales of Heroes--but I...I bring you a tale of monsters." "Presented for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story...The Tale of the Stolen Spirits." *** "One autumn eve, four Heroes gathered at the Guild of Invision Headquarters. The room's other occupant--a neat-haired woman behind a particularly plain desk--cleared her throat politely." "Good day, Heroes, Miss Arbour. Thank you for coming. Are you all prepared to hear Miss Persephone's statement?" QM Note: Welcome to the Quest, everyone! As always, check over your stats and let me know if there's been any mistakes or recent purchases--if you'd like to make some last-minute preparations before you post, now is the time.
  6. Not sure if this is exactly the right place to post this, but: I'm going to guess that whatever ad hosting you're using for EB, it's been compromised (yes, it even happens to Google ads, quite a lot, actually). For now, I've put EB on my "trusted sites" list for Vipre, but just for the sake of testing I'm going to download Adblock, take EB off the trusted sites list, and see if it still gets flagged (I suspect it won't be, but it's important to test anyway ). EDIT: This is Firefox on Windows 7, BTW. UPDATE: Sneaky! Just noticed when I closed the window that a pop-up ad had indeed appeared behind the main browsing window (it was an ad for auto insurance, one of the obviously scammy ads). Installing Adblock seems to have stopped that issue, but the site was still flagged by Vipre; this means that it's likely that Eurobricks itself has been flagged by antivirus software because of these malicious ads. You may want to contact them and explain to them that it's not EB's fault, and you'll probably want to contact you ad service as well to let them know.
  7. Looks like Oswald Brickspit is getting fired soon. That's against union rules, that is.
  8. Hmm...you're taking a break from QMing, I'm taking a break from player-ing...
  9. I, personally, think Diplomacy and Command should be treated more as a passive skill than an active one (i.e. used automatically unless the player states it's not being used)--the way Animal Talk is usually automatic unless specified otherwise. On the other hand, though, Intimidation is definitely something that SHOULD require a manual trigger, since (with one or two exceptions) most Heroes wouldn't want to be constantly growling at and otherwise intimidating everyone around them all the time.
  10. A woman from the Guild of Invision--a rather familiar-looking one to some of the Heroes--enters the Hall and pins up a notice. Chosen Heroes for Quest #118: The Tale of the Stolen Spirits Ellaria Arbour, Level 30 Druid (Sandy) Hybros, Level 32.75 Chi Monk (JimBee) Bartholomew Docken, Level 46.4 Warden (Brickdoctor) Thormanil Nihai, Level 41.8 Dragoon (Swils) Please complete any necessary preparations and report to the Guild House immediately. ~Ashley Barton, Assistant Manager of Hero Relations for the Guild of Invision QM Note: Due to some delays with the set-building process, the Quest topic will launch on October 31st; I sincerely apologize for the delay. --------- Current Sign-ups for the Fields of Glory: Rufus, Level 1 Barbarian (the lego dwarf) The Demon Germ, Level 5 Rogue (samuraiturtle) Warlen Melimane & Quarion, Level 6 Mage (The Chosen Minifigure) Lind Whisperer, Level 12 Rogue (Lind Whisperer) Darksten, Level 12.5 Ranger (Comrade Commander) Grimwald Gjinko, Level 18 Sage (LordoftheNoobs) Sign-ups closing November 4th.
  11. "A greater purpose, yes...but not a good one. Good people--former Heroes, even--died because I served a cause that was...well. You know what she served. You suffered at her hands in the name of that cause. I don't want to make that mistake again. I fear if I continue blundering my way through the world, I will become that which the weak would fall to when the strong do not prevail. I am already a monster--I have no intention of becoming a villain as well."
  12. "I think...perhaps they are. For now, anyway." The Skirmisher looks wistfully at the great oak doors through which all Heroes had at some point passed. "Though I think Heroica's own days of heroing might be over as well. The Hall's protective spells make Heroes effectively immortal--practically gods for all our enemies can actually do to harm us--and yet despite it all, I've come to realize, we are little more than a bunch of spoiled, glorified sellswords. I keep trying to tell myself I'm doing more, making a difference, doing good, but...if I'm being honest, truly honest, I'm just as selfish as the rest of us. And I'm not okay with that. I have way too much power, and I don't trust myself to use that power responsibly when it counts. I need to learn responsibility...and I need to learn it someplace where fewer lives are at stake."
  13. "Deal," Arthur replies, handing over the dagger.
  14. Psst...they're both the same thing. ...
  15. "Perhaps...would you consider 150 and that Crescent Shield instead?"
  16. Hey, you try setting up five entire Quests in a series without causing a shortage of Heroes for the Quests later down the line. Nuu what are you doing, that weapon is worth way more than XX was charging you for it...! D:
  17. Arthur notices a familiar figure enter the Hall, and smiles appreciatively. "Master Docken!" The Skirmisher approaches the one-eyed Warden, Unlucky Horseshoe in hand. "I was just thinking about you. I'm going to be in the Hall for a while, and I can't use this thing anyway, so I figure I'd rather let a friend get some use out of it rather than have it mouldering away in my bag. Care to borrow my Unlucky Horseshoe for a Quest or two?"
  18. Arthur sorts out the proper number of Gold coins and passes them on to the Sage. "Sounds fun, I'm a bit jealous. I wish my Quests were that simple...nowadays, it seems like everything I try ends up overcomplicated overnight." "Take my last Quest, actually. We were supposed to guard some wine from a thief. It felt more like holding off an army, and half of them seemed to be a bunch of proselytizing Wolfgang thugs. To be honest, I kind of tuned them out after a few minutes. Still, it's nice to have helped the Shadeaux again." As Arthur speaks, he applies the Bright Polish to the Shadeaux Cloak, the fabric shimmering faintly as he fastens it back in place. "I'm hoping to do some work for them again in the future, actually--I got a letter from them two days ago, so tomorrow morning I'm off to the Chateau. Here's hoping it's a job they have in mind." 19. Hey, Doc, how did you make that tag show up on Quest 112's topic title? It would, uh...it would be really cool if we could add similar things to denote multi-topic Quests like the Dastan Trilogy, Baltarok Trilogy, and Halloween Anthology Quests.
  20. Sorry I've been so lax in listing the sign-ups, everyone! Let me know if I missed your sign-up for either Quest.

OOC: Sorry, first I missed this, and then I got busy. "Hmm...it's been very useful to me in the past, but it might be for the right price. What would you have in mind to offer?" As Grimwald passes by him, Arthur snags the gnome's robes. "Grimwald! Good to see you! How've you been faring since our little foray into those mines, eh?" Arthur notices a familiar-looking jar that had fallen to the ground when he stopped the Sage, and as he picks it up to return it to Grimwald, he pauses. "Wait a tick...is this Bright Polish?" He looks back to the gnome. "Any chance you'd be willing to part with this? Would 120 Gold be enough, mayhaps?"
  23. I think I've stated this a couple of times, but I will be sending the next party into the Fields a few days after 118 departs. Right now I'm shooting for November 4th, in order to allow time for anyone not chosen for the Halloween Quests to be able to sign up for the Fields if they so choose.
  24. That's actually worse than a Damage or Special Damage roll; it punishes everyone in the party because one player rolled one specific thing. I'd much rather Mist simply suppress a single enemy's immunities for a Round.
  25. Alternatively, you could just have Mist suppress the target’s immunities (elemental, type, and otherwise, with the exception of Doomed and Instant Kill) until the end of the next Round.
