That's always been while one or both have been Hastened. Trading items has always taken an action from both Heroes.

You're forgetting that the QM of the Fields gets to make the final decision as to who comes along. Yes, we usually take player preference into consideration, but it's ultimately up to us to decide who we want to take in.

Should LEGO Invest in a 'Disney Infinity' Type Game?
Flipz replied to adotnamedstud's topic in General LEGO Discussion
How about the canister lids? When I first saw Skylanders and Disney Infinity, one of my first thoughts was how much they reminded me of the suva lids from the original Bionicle Toa. IMO, the main problem with this sort of idea is that it puts two of LEGO's core features into conflict: on the one hand, you can do anything you want with LEGO, and so when that freedom is somehow restricted it can lead to frustration (as we saw with the limited size and part supply, and part selection in many of the LEGO Universe building areas); on the other, TLG prides itself on being family-friendly, and so to maintain that image it either resorts to aggressive, bank-breakingly expensive moderation (LEGO Universe) or else just severely limits the extent of the building features (LEGO Minifigures Online, the Traveler's Tales games, etc.). In my opinion, the ideal LEGO toybox game would look a lot like LEGO Universe with the focus shifted to the building and properties features, but in reality it could never happen because TLG can't take the risk of allowing that much freedom in a digital space that adults share with children (or at least, not without the need for constant 24-hour moderation that would suck away all the profits). On the other hand, as Lyichir suggested, perhaps one of the action figure themes would be better-suited for this sort of thing (though personally I'd prefer to be able to build my own character, perhaps with additional IRL sets unlocking additional pieces from that set in-game). I can imagine a very MNOLG II-esque Bionicle game done in a more Disney Infinity-like format, and it seems pretty fun in my head. (I say Disney Infinity specifically because, IMO, the way they implemented the new Toyboxes is superior to Skylanders and also better fits a story-based franchise like Bionicle, as TLG could easily release a new Toybox for each new story year/location.) -

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Flipz replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
Just as a reminder, Arthur inflicts Jinxed this Round. Round 27 Battle Order and Actions Hoke casts Blindness on Miss Fortune from the Front Row Arthur melee attacks Miss Fortune from the Front Row with the Gladiator Trident IF Arthur does not hit, Alex throws the Unlucky Horseshoe at Miss Fortune from the Back Row; otherwise he attacks with his Sword of the Elven Blademaster from the Front Row Lind does nothing (sorry ) Thormanil attacks with Dragonsbane Lance from the Front Row IF Miss Fortune is Jinxed, Guts attacks Miss Fortune from the Front Row; otherwise he attacks her from the Back Row (Instant Items) IF at or below half health, Guts drinks a Grand Potion IF Miss Fortune is Jinxed, Guts attacks Miss Fortune from the Front Row; otherwise he attacks her from the Back Row (Instant Items) IF at or below half health, Guts drinks a Grand Potion OOC: You may autoroll this for two Rounds, with Heroes in danger of being KO'd using Potions or Grand Potions to heal themselves instead of attacking. (If Hoke successfully Blinds her, he'll then Fragile her.) If anyone's KO'd, Guts will use an Instant Items action to revive them (if he isn't already using it to heal himself).- 500 replies

Alexis: "You sound like my ex-boyfriend." Also, was the name Valentine deliberate? Since the Zeigfried one (Valentine Zeigfried) is Arthur's birth mother? EDIT: So apparently Masson Cour's father is played by Jeff Goldblum.

Several of the Test Questers are on the banner (Shadina Impwrath, Nyx, and Rufindel Galadhras are the only ones I can see at my current screen resolution), but the rest are random fantasy figures unrelated to actual player characters.

Arthur's advantage is that his Plaything will always be unimbued; thus, short of undead (which he'll have a backup weapon to deal with), he'll always be able to at least hit for a decent amount of damage. Although you might want to look at Thormanil: 16*5=80+40=120*2=240 damage on a High Assault, again before elemental modifiers (though admittedly it's not SP-piercing nor stealing). Dragoons' schtick is that they hit hard consistently; not necessarily as hard as other classes, but hard enough to make you stop and think twice about crossing them. It's also something of a patience game; you have to join up early or essentially lose your SHIELD roll, but you're not very strong at that stage; at higher levels, however, you become downright absurd: if a Level 60 Thormanil rolled a SHIELD just now in 103, the total damage would be (60+32+2=94*4=376)+(10+4+33+7=54*2=108)+(20+33=53)+(60*5=300)=837 damage to Shorty and (5+10=15*2=30-6=24)+(20+60+1=81*2=162-6=156)+(16+28=44*2=88)+(60*5*2=600)=868 damage to Miss Fortune (though admittedly that's inflated because as a Skirmisher I'd be Encouraging everyone but myself ); even with much lower-Level allies at your side, you still end up dishing out some serious hurt. Doing those calculations, though, does still remind me that, ultimately, WP is not the main stat for Dragoons; Level is. While High Assault is great, it's slow, and your only other non-Dragon attack is a regular old Hit. An Ethereal enemy will stop pretty much any Dragoon of Level 40 or higher dead in their tracks; it's another reason I'm not really interested in putting gems in weapons beyond just the Amethyst in the Dauntlet Index and perhaps a Diamond in something else--I want to be able to do something instead of getting stonewalled. What Em said. Oh, and by the way, rules clarification: would an Encouraged Dragoon have their Dragon deal double damage from the Encouragement? At first I thought not (because logically a Mead in the Dragoon's system wouldn't encourage the Dragon), but then I had the the thought that they could share the drink (as people who are extremely close to their animal companions sometimes do), and at the very least a Skirmisher's Encouragement should logically affect both of them (so long as the Dragoon is in the same row).

Could buy 10 Bright Polish and sell them to me at a 20% profit, then use the money to upgrade your stuff even more (though that would take time since I'd have to raise more funds, but it's possible ).
-
With Gold or Ether, sure, because in this case the +3 SP aura acts like an Artifact boost (which also cannot be upgraded by Gold or Ether). Thus, Bright Polish would logically work on it like it would on an Artifact.
-
I would say "no". Allowing it just opens way too may potential problems (i.e. theft). Better for Hero inventories to just be inviolable.
-
Out of curiosity, could a Bright Polish be used on the Flagpole to raise its SP bonus? I, personally, am inclined to say "yes" (even though it'll make balancing even harder when Hoke inevitably returns to the Fields ), but I don't know how others would handle it.
-
That's actually not a good munchkining idea--Zepher is known for having long Quests with lots of battles and great stories, but almost no loot. He's like the Dos Equis guy--"I don't drop loot often, but when I do, it's really good." If you're looking to minmax, Sandy is THE QM to Quest with, but there's a lot of competition (not to mention Sandy tends to prefer Heroes with a heavy roleplaying focus compared to stats players). You're probably better off with Pie or WBD for your style of play.

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!

He's assuming we're all going to get KO'd, which I should point out is an entirely reasonable assumption to make; always assume that the Round will go to hell, and prepare accordingly.- 500 replies

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Flipz replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
It is out of whack with the rules, though, I wouldn't allow it in the Fields and I doubt any other QM would allow it in their Quests either. Heroes aren't allowed to equip/de-equip other Heroes' items, and for very good reason. Just wait--we've had plenty of practice with it, after all.- 500 replies

Basically, you can't. (My character is actually a Zoot's Plaything--no, you didn't read that wrong--but he's already been activated, as that's how he became the Plaything in the first place, by absorbing it and making it soulbound.) In the early years of Heroica, there was a Quest line involving a fantastic villain named Wren--still in my opinion the best villain Heroica has had. Once per Quest involving her, a weapon was dropped called a Zoot's Plaything. There were a few variations, but they all had the same property: when activated, they would transform into a weapon suitable for that character, and that character only, with WP equal to some fraction of the Hero's own. These weapons can never be traded away, and can never be sold; they're what I like to call soulbound, which is a fancy way of saying "only usable by one specific character". As a result of this property and some larger discussions on the necessity of using the pre-existing weapon types, Sandy ruled that since they were so rare (no more are ever being dropped, unless Zepher drops one in his Grand Finale Quest, which incidentally had better not be called "Finale" ), they could follow the character to whatever class they took--including Expert Classes. The catch, of course, is that it must transform into a weapon type suitable to that class, so a class with melee-only weapons can't use a bow or a broomstick. Hoke is going to hit like a truck when he hits Level 40, by the way--he has a 3/4 edition unactivated Plaything in his inventory, and if he activates it at Level 40, he'll have a WP:30 weapon on his hands; additionally, as a Dragoon, High Assault deals 5x Weapon Power plus the user's Level; when I roll a High Assault after the conclusion of 103, I'll be dishing out 20*5=100+33=133 damage (before elemental multipliers, if any), whereas Hoke will be dealing a whopping 30*5=150+40=190 damage before multipliers. Of course, his Flagpole is a mechanically better weapon overall (as Skirmisher is a mechanically superior class to Dragoon for me), not to mention that Dragoon relies a lot more on Level than on WP, but those numbers are absolutely nothing to sneeze at.

Hoke would have to give up one turn to de-equip Lind's medal, and another to complete the transfer of the two items. Better to just leave it for now.- 500 replies

If the boss doesn't already exist as a Decamon card, nothing will happen. Additionally, it's using an item on an enemy, which doesn't count as targeting, so they'd still get their Free Hit.
-
Decamon is a minigame introduced in Quest 100. A lot of us expressed interest, so Sandy is expanding on the concept.

Wiki, please. The formatting there is better suited for it.

Guts is NOT down, he had an Emergency Essence. Guts uses a Smelling Salts (Instant Items), then a Nostrum, then a Grand Potion (Instant Items), then attacks Shorty from the Front Row. Arthur moves to the Trophy Room (Front Row) Hoke casts Weakness on Miss Fortune, Front Row) Alexandre moves to the Trophy Room (Front Row) Guts uses Smelling Salts (Instant Items) Guts Drinks Nostrum Guts Drinks Grand Potion (Instant Items) Guts attacks Shorty (Front Row) Thormanil attacks Shorty (Front Row) with Shishkebab (Double) OR if Shorty dead, does nothing Lind does nothing (Front Row)- 500 replies

We have the three Master Classes. They're more than enough. I highly doubt it. Be happy you've hit Level 10+ in a single Quest--it's VERY rare to see happen; as far as I'm aware, Alexandre and I are the only other ones to have done it. Remember, this isn't a race--you've got years to keep advancing, you just need a little patience. If you really want to race through the levels, though, the Fields of Glory are the place--just be aware that they're not quite the same as they used to be...
