I love how most Heroes are legitimately confused by the helmet, whereas Atramor, Skrall, and Guts are all like "f*ck this, it's obviously you, why is anyone fooled by this shitty disguise?"
-
While he waits for a response from Pretzel, Arthur also hands a note to Guts:

Doesn't have to be that deep, just watch a season each of Fraggle Rock and MLP:FiM and you'll have enough quirky songs to last you a lifetime.

Seeing that he had been chosen, and as leader as well, Arthur nods. We are in for a strenuous journey, Miirym, he thinks to himself, as well as to the draconic creature currently cuddled inside his cloak. The little dragon yawns, disturbed from her slumber. <Why?> The mantle of leadership is difficult to bear, the Dragoon replies mentally. <But I like this cloak!> Miirym complains, squeaking softly in her indignation. Arthur chuckles and pats her head, assuring her he was not planning on replacing her new favorite thing about him. Ensuring the Dragon is secure in her place, he begins to walk toward the doors, only for her to climb around and try to perch on his helmet. The Dragoon stops moving, not wanting to risk accidentally shaking her off. Miirym trills contentedly, and the ex-Skirmisher takes that as his cue to keep moving...only to overhear a particularly interesting bit of conversation from a certain Monk. He quickly scrawls a note, then approaches the Artisan and taps him on the shoulder. In his other hand, the Dragoon holds his Metasimian Dory, Dauntlet Index, and Spider Leg spears, along with the aforementioned 255 gold, which he jingles slightly.

I believe he actually said that it was only suitable for Heroes who can wield axes, not that it could only be used with axes.

Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory
Flipz replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
FM Note: Actually, when Heroes in the same party attack each other (i.e Confusion or Hexing), the damage ignores Row. -
Well, at least it suits Nyx.
-
That's correct; it was the primary gimmick of the boss fight of Quest 100 (Seneschal unleashed a wave of Earth-elemental damage that hit all combatants, hurting the Heroes while healing the golems). It would also apply if, say, a Hero decided to imbue a weapon with a gem and use the relevant weapon on themselves; in that scenario, a Knight or Paladin could heal themselves without putting the party at risk--if they rolled a SHIELD, it would just raise Sentinel/Guardian Angel. Well, I can't seem to decided on an avatar image, so I'll just use both for now. If anyone wants to see more full-size images (including my preliminary concept!), a link to the Flickr album may be found here.

I certainly try to style my loot after the Brickdoctor Standard.
-
The Dragoon looks over Dyric in wonderment, again surprised at how simple it was for him to become so utterly anonymous. Taking a moment to check on the still-sleeping Miirym, he silently holds out the Shard with one hand and holds out the other expectantly for his Gold.

Heroica RPG - Quest #118: The Tale of the Stolen Spirits

Round 1 of Brawl in the Basement: >Docken (Darksteel Crossbow) vs. Masculine Golem (back) - Special Damage (Expert Appraisal - Masculine Golem: 2*10=20+46=66-10=56 damage + Blinded; Docken: Darksteel Crossbow's WP reduced to 0) Thormanil (Shishkebab) vs. Small Golem A (front) - Deflected Damage (Thormanil: no deflection, 46-18=28 damage; Small Golem A: 28 damage) >Ellaria uses Smelling Salts >Ellaria uses Scroll of Weakening on Feminine Golem (success, roll of 1; Ellaria: -1 Ether) Hybros (Darkness) vs. Small Golem B - Critical Martial Hit (Small Golem B: no evasion, 32.75*3=98+6=104*2*2=416-2=414 damage (KO!); Hybros: -1 Ether) Hybros (Darkness) vs. Small Golem B Masculine Golem - SHIELD (Chakra - Hybros: Blessed, -1 Ether) Free Hits: Masculine Golem vs. Bartholomew Docken: 0-23=0 damage Feminine Golem vs. Thormanil Nihai: 74/2=37-18=19 damage; Feminine Golem: 19 damage The foursome fought ferociously, but failed to frustrate their foes' frenetic flailing. Though successful in Blinding his opponent, the Warden's crossbow was caught by the masculine golem's pitchform and flung against the wall, unbalancing its delicate mechanisms. Likewise, the Dragoon is damaged despite diving to deflect the blow; his momentum carries him onward, however, slamming into the small golem. It is the Druid who turns the Round around. Popping a Smelling Salts, she casts a spell that greatly Weakens her feminine foe, an act that would soon save her companion's life; meanwhile, the diminutive monk punches his diminutive foe into oblivion before calmly meditating, prompting a fierce but ultimately unfocused counterattack from the two larger golems that nonetheless dangerously diminishes the Dragoon's health. The answer to both is Zoot's Reaper, after some upgrading; with the sole exception of Chi Monk ( ), Zoot's Reaper is suitable for literally any class you take, forever. Even if you wanted to use it on the SoAH, it would be a waste, since you can just kill more stuff with it anyways to upgrade it (yes, that takes time, but seriously, there's no need to pay for more upgrades with its absurd power ). Also, you want to keep that Crimson Venom away from the SoAH, since poison death won't count as a kill for SoAH upgrading. That said, if you wanted to go an unorthodox route, you could always put the Crimson Venom on the Banana Bladerang and watch every QM ever break down crying.

Fun fact: there are currently 14 Mythril Shards in circulation, out of a total of 26 released. Of those 14, 4 are on Quest 118, 3 are on Quest 105, 1 is in the Fields of Glory, and 7 are in Heroica Hall (two of them belonging to Heroes who have not been active recently). Adamantite, being substantially rarer, has only 4 pieces in circulation: one belonging to Boomingham, and three to Docken. Of course, the real question is: who is collecting these materials, and who is merely searching for a buyer?
-
Question time: if someone has both counterstrike gloves and the Iris Shield equipped, do they Counterstrike twice when taking a Free Hit?

QM Note: It's the same effect as granted by the Feather of Lithe...oh, wait, I used the wrong name for the effect. Let me just fix that... It's a 1/3 chance to dodge incoming damage and counterstrikes.- 506 replies

That loot is amazing. Think about a Mystic Knight with that tongue, or a spellcaster using both the Cloak of the Sea Beast and the Regina Marina.

Having pondered long enough, Arthur decides to bite the bullet and sign up for Quest 120. Hopefully I can help, he thinks. Protecting someone, especially someone worthy...that's what I want do do with my life. His thoughts drift to the little dragon clinging to his cloak, when the sound of soft snoring informs him she has fallen asleep. Smiling, the ex-Skirmisher climbs the stairs back to the Saloon once more.

With his dragon's help, the Dragoon soon stripped the wall of its valuables; the crossbow a standard one similar in strength to those found in the Marketplace, the key likely the one to the store. Crossbow (WP:5) As he pocketed the parchment, the Warden happened to notice it was not a map, but a note--but the time was not then to read it. FM Note: Comrade Commander has the right idea; Challenges are not 'used up', so the same challenge may be used an *snicker* unlimited number of times. I'll give you a couple hours to decide if this affects your plans, and then I'll move you forward.
