Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion

I'd really enjoy if it was a flashback movie. Like, Jessie and Buzz are going through some kind of issues, so Woody tells them about his past with Bo Peep. That, to me, could be worth watching.- 279 replies

Loki and Thor are ridiculous characters, but they work in the MCU because Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth have fun with them. They enjoy every second the get to play these characters, and so we have fun watching them. That's what was missing from Ant-Man, and that's why I'm not enthused about Ant-Man and Wasp in future films--the way they played the concept itself actually works just fine (though they did REALLY overblow it when describing the Yellow Jacket as "future of warfare", that's kind of overselling by a lot ), it's the characters/actors that don't work. I guess if I had to pick either Ant-Man or Wasp, though, I'd have to pick Ant-Man--Paul Rudd seems like he can have fun, if he's given the right people to play off of; maybe if he isn't bogged down with the "I'm being kept away from my daughter" plot (which, admittedly, would realistically bog any character down) and he has a few wise-crackers to bounce off of, maybe he'll be more fun to watch. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Breaking weapons come in two varieties: semi-consumable effect dealers (i.e. Karie's Rusty Dagger), and vendor trash.
-
Yeah, I apologize if my personal dismissal of the Axpeord made it seem like it's not very good. It's actually a really amazing weapon, just not for my own shield-based build--it's nothing to turn one's nose up at.

No. Type-based immunities can be counteracted (for example, an Aquatic/Rock's Aquatic immunity to Water being counteracted by its Rock weakness to it for a grand total of 1x), while NPC/enemy-specific immunities can't be (i.e. a Rock-type enemy that's *Immune to Water* would take 0 damage from Water, because the immunity effect overrides the Type-based weakness).
-
*Immunity to [Element]* completely overrides elemental resistance/weakness for multi-elemental attacks (we decided this as a result of the Baltarok final battle, where it was an issue with Lifestealer). Even if so, however, she's also immune to Ice, so you'd have two resistances to one weakness for a grand total of "nope".

Well, yeah, because Maces and hammers and the like make the most sense to be dealing Fragile. If you want to drop a weapon that deals Fragile, I'd contact Sandy by PM; he's really good about approving or disapproving items that way.

Arthur might could, if he took off the MoG and drank a Nostrum and/or Ambrosia...but at that point it's no longer just sparring.
-
As he walks, Arthur casually drinks a Mead, hoping it would help him relax a little.

No they don't. They act like weapons--if you have a shield that's immune to lightning and one that's immune to darkness, you can switch to using the Immune to Darkness one if you see your enemies have Darkness-elemental attacks, and it won't affect your attack. Honestly, a shield that added its SP as a WP bonus to throwing weapons would probably be simpler.

I've stated multiple times that 141 is intended as a newbie Quest. Normally, when two or more Quests are on the board, the QMs hosting them will PM each other and ask about who's looking at taking which characters. This way ,each QM gets to have their say, instead of the latest QM to host getting their preferred party yanked out from beneath them. I'm sorry that's what happened to you, but please don't advocate someone else do it to me.

So, I finally got to see Ant-Man. First impression...boy, what a disappointment. No one was having any fun in this movie, with the exceptions of Falcon and Luis (Michael Peña), both of whom I really want to see more of. The dialogue was stale and repetitive, and its delivery was even worse--the opening scene with Howard Stark and Hank Pym was downright cringe-worthy, and Pym in particular only got worse from there. On an overall scale, the writing was not very good, either--lots of things getting set up and then paid off almost immediately. The most glaring example I noticed was the whole "father-daughter tension" subplot between Hank Pym and his daughter, the resolution of which was so quick and so jarring that it pulled me completely out of the experience. I was also disappointed by the cinematography--I saw it in 2D, and it's absolutely clear that it was an afterthought compared to ALL of the sequences that were glaringly designed for 3D. I like 3D, a lot, but you have to make a movie that actually looks good in either format. Speaking of things not looking good, this was by far the most glaring product placement I've seen since Microsoft did that humongous Windows Phone push several years back--some of it worked (Thomas the Tank Engine, for example, and the unobtrusive LEGO brick), while most of it just...didn't. (Baskin-Robins, anyone?) I don't know. I didn't go in expecting a masterpiece, but I at least expected to have fun. This is only the second time I've gone to see a Marvel film and felt like it was a waste of my time and money...the first time being Thor: The Dark World. Maybe everyone else is seeing something I didn't, or maybe there's just a lot of Ant-Man nostalgia; the only thing I can say for sure is that, like I mentioned, I went in wanting to have fun...and didn't. That pretty much says it all, IMO.

You can use the forum's search feature to search within a topic. Granted, that only helps if you already know what you're looking for, but it still helps.

That was before Free Hits were changed to be more threatening to SP-users, back when the Counterstrike strategy was running rampant.

Arthur nods. "I will. They sounded like bad news then...I can only imagine how much worse they'll be once angered." He looks to Mallelio. "Did The Prophetess and the Warrior contain any information on these eldest of Dragons, by any chance?" "True. Though that is part of why I take her care so seriously. No matter how long I remain in this world, she will likely outlast me. For better or for worse, she will bear my legacy for ages upon ages--and I feel I owe it to the world to make sure that legacy is a good one." The Dragoon shoots a brief glance at Mallelio, an acknowledgement of and apology for the past all in one. After waiting for the others' replies, Arthur nods respectfully to each. "It has been a pleasure catching up with you, Tarn, Mallelio, and likewise a pleasure to meet you as well, Lady Natasha. Perhaps we can speak more after your match with Hoke? In any event, Emperor Septrine mentioned a Golden Inventor in your group, studying the automaton designs of the late, not particularly lamented Blackenord. Automata have always fascinated me, and I have personal experience with Blackenord's particular variety. Might you be able to direct me to this Golden Inventor?"

I suppose I can get both, even though it'll be a little bank-breaking...that way, I'd be able to build Chesterine (who, if I recall correctly, we haven't seen since Quest 66! ). RE: Youngling!Miirym, I want to see what she looks like with physical bricks first, in case I decide to tweak the design a bit.
-
Can anyone tell whether Valentine Ziegfried's hat is Dark Pink or Light Purple? I'm making a Bricklink order for parts for Youngling!Miirym, so I might as well shop for some minifig parts while I'm at it.

Cheers, my good sir--this has, so far, been perfect for my smaller rendering needs (though of course I'll need to experiment a bit more to see how it handles larger builds and other tomfoolery). Any word on Bublible's materials for metallic parts being added to the base software? I'd love to get a nice rendering of this dragon using those materials: Even if it's not in the pipeline, could someone possibly link me to a tutorial on how to implement it myself? (I'll also search through the topic myself, but I do tend to get lost in the jargon, so there's a good chance I'll miss it. )

Hybros' words seem to somewhat revive Arthur from his reverie. "Indeed. I would like to extend a similar offer to you, Lady Natasha, once Miirym's grown up a little." This prompts a stern reaction from Miirym, though she's careful not to let Arthur see it. "To tell you the truth, I was a little hesitant even signing up for this outing...but this is Dastan, and she deserves the chance to get to know her heritage." Miirym stands and circles, searching for Vipera; when she spots her fellow Dragon, she settles back down again and sends Vipera a mental message, smoke spewing ominously from her snout and spilling to the floor like fog. Noting that something is wrong, Arthur glances worriedly towards his Dragon, but she is facing away from him and apparently not in the mood to talk. He makes a mental note to bring it up later, and sighs. He resumes speaking to Tarn, Felix, Natasha, and the Heroes. "I try to do right by her, but I have to admit, I'm a poor substitute for a Dragon. Part of me wishes I could bring Vipera back to Eubric with me, to help me raise her right. But then, I guess not knowing what in Hel to do sometimes is just part of the territory." He shrugs, at a loss for what to do or say.

Uhh...yeah. Well, at least for anything I plan to create from scratch (since I'd prefer for my loot to be linked to/flow naturally from the story and characters on the Quest). I generally tend to endorse a "you want it, you fight it first) approach, which means I have to set at least the base concept for a piece of loot ahead of time (though I will wing things like WP/SP to suit the party composition and level).
-
*Runs numbers* Hmm... Surprisingly, adding more Heroes to the party actually makes a fair chunk of my planning a lot easier. Only thing is, it does mean I'd have to make another loot redistribution pass. Again.
-
I'm considering one for future plans, but it would be soulbound and limited by weapon wielding restrictions as a drawback.

If a Regulator in Chaotic mode is wearing a White Marksman Hat (1/6 Assasination chance vs Flying enemies) and uses their Wild Mind Free Hit on a Flying enemy before the rest of combat begins, does the Assasination roll still go through? On another Regulator note, does Calculating Mind stack with the Initiative round granted by having a Paragon in the party (so the Regulator can use two items while the rest of the party still only gets one)?
