  1. Dammit, Endgame, now I'm retroactively upset that you didn't PM those of us who played Nephilim to show up in Jinnipher's vision to torment her as our old CAT characters.
  2. For example, no one seems to actually like the Hinckwells or the Guild of Invision, they just want access to the Overpowered Singer and Quirky Money - Creator classes. Fun fact, the Halloween Anthology this year isn't from Kinto and fellow QMs, it's from Player!Kinto as Karie to the QMs hosting her. (I jest, I jest, I'm just re-reading CAT and seeing again how hideously OP Minstrels used to be. )
  3. Don't remember if I posted this yet, but: Just a hint at what lies ahead. Also, I'm going to be gone for a good chunk of today, so don't let me hold you up, Zeph! (Even though I'd love to spar with someone, grumble grumble. )
  4. "The Order Imperial...I remember them. Tarn, Monk Pretzel, U'Voros, and I clashed with them on our Quest to retrieve the tale of the Prophetess and the Warrior from beneath the sea. Polite, but unpleasantly closed-minded. Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't support them." Miirym perks her head up at Mallelio's mention of the Elder Dragons, her eagerness to hear more of them non-verbal but apparent. Arthur, meanwhile, seems to shrink at the mention of the Old Gods, becoming unnaturally quiet as he sinks into his memories.
  5. I would tolerate the stylistic difference, for the sake of the sheer fun.

  7. Arthur signals for Miirym to join him and Tarn. "Tarn, I want you to meet Miirym, my Dragon companion. Miirym, this is Tarn, an old friend of mine from before you were born. He and I went on a few Quests together back when we were both Heroes." Miirym nods respectfully, but does not speak, apparently tired from her earlier exertions.
  8. You're not supposed to identify with Deadpool, though. You read/watch Deadpool to see him shred through and absolutely destroy everything he comes into contact with. It's funny when the thing being shredded is a setting/element/whatever that you don't particularly like or care about. When it's a game world you know and love and have put years of time and effort into, it's not fun anymore. Or characters who don't have an existing faith. I've been on the receiving end of someone trying to use that Job Trait on me. It's not fun, and is usually a rather insulting and degrading experience--in other words, it has the opposite effect in-game than it does IRL. I'd prefer the trait to be re-worded to be more like the original intent behind Diplomacy--being a tenured clergyman/clergywoman carries with it a degree of trustworthiness and legitimacy, so people are more inclined to treat you well because of your priesthood. No change of beliefs, no forcing people to act or roleplay a certain way just because a Job Trait says so.
  9. Gotta be honest, even knowing what you're going for with that, it...really rubs me the wrong way. One of the things that makes Lind the character so difficult to like or sympathize with.
  10. I do really like the drinks themselves, though I question somewhat who drank which ones--someone other than Keliim should have drank the mountain punch (so he gets the Inspiration buff), and someone other than Annie should have drank the Guardian Knight one (so she gets the defense buff).
  11. It works for some NPCs (the drunk guy was hilarious), but for others it's just...icky. I know if someone tries to use Conversion on Diana, it's just going to flat-out fail and make her mad at them, because religion in that sense is just completely not her style, and she'd resent someone (other than MAYBE Kiray or Actaeon) trying to tell her what to think. Also, I totally did not intend this at the time (I'm not super familiar with ancient mythology, sorry ), but Actaeon and Diana's relationship arc in 104 somewhat parallels the relationship arc of the mythical Actaeon and Diana.
  12. I think that would make Sorrow very happy.
  13. Well, I mean, when I wear my full armor I have the highest SP in the game, a TON of immunities, and I hit about 2/3 as hard as Guts...and have a Dragon on top of it. Post-40, Arthur's probably going to be at least as hard to balance for as Hoke/Guts (though at least it'll be hard to balance for in the "by god, those numbers!" sense, not the "by got, he's got SO MUCH DAMN STUFF AND SO MANY THINGS HE CAN DO WITH IT ARGHEBFDGS!!!" sense like it used to be ).
  14. We're speculating based on JimBee's really logical estimation that the sides are based on the geography of Eubric (Sungold Hill and Crescent Hill).
  15. Yeah, I mean, there's no contest, Arthur's got to go Crescent--the two pieces of his family (Ziegfrieds for him, Shadeaux for Miirym) are both on that side, so he can't risk losing reputation among either. That said, ideologically he's probably closest to the Ji Pei (or actually, probably closest to the Golden Crusade, interestingly enough--I wish I was in a better headspace to roleplay on 139 at the moment because Natasha seems like someone he'd get along with rather well). He hates the Bonapartes, in his view they embody everything that's wrong with the city--to the point where he's subconsciously transferred some of their negative traits to the Hinckwells in his own mind. BTW, has Sandy ever mentioned where in the city Heron St. is?
  16. Well, shit. Two of Arthur's Houses are on one side...along with a House he loathes entirely.
  17. RE: the event: wait, I thought this was the event where we decide to kill off either all of the Moon and Star Elves or else all of the Sun and Wood Elves. You're telling me we can't just wipe out Spesialia entirely? In all seriousness, I am a bit concerned. As has been pointed out, Arthur does have some rather heavy ties to three different Houses; it'll be a wrench if they end up on different sides. JSYK, Lind, you're missing an option on that poll that says "anyone who's not the freakin' Bonapartes ". Cruel Angel's Thesis; see the bottom of the Index.
  18. Oh, right. I must have suppressed the memory of how hideously overpowered Scamander was, for the sake of my own sanity. ...Although in retrospect, he was an accurate representation of what the class did to enemies once it finally got into player hands...maybe we should have taken note of it then.
  19. You know, speaking of CAT, the system wasn't all bad...if I were to run it now, I'd just make a few changes: 1. Actions are not based on time zones; instead, they happen in a randomized order. (Alternatively, a dying character's action still goes through unless they're actively being blocked.) 2. Phoenix Essences are out; instead, there's a limited number of Fenghuang Essences, which the Alchemist cannot create with Mixture. 3. All weapons are elemental; while this does not affect the pictures, it does affect the damage output thanks to the immunity Artifacts and the addition of Weather Mage. 4. The Scum get permanent conversion abilities, rather than just a single one-use item; ideally, this would work like the Ragnarok 1 conversions (first use converts to Neutral, second use converts to Scum). 5. All characters have a number of personal goals that, when accomplished, grant a full level of experience; this would make the leveling more prominent (IIRC the only two characters in CAT with a chance to level up and change classes were both Scum) as well as encouraging shady, selfish behavior from the characters (making it less desirable to gang up as a Town and completely lock down all actions). 6. Full nighttime anonymity. 'Nuff said. (That said, the "ranged=anonymous" in the daytime was a great mechanic and should stay. )
  20. Yeah, I'd love to, but unless you're planning to delay it until post-139 it's just not going to happen.
  21. True, but to Arthur's mind this would be like Karie taking her and Masson's baby on missions with her. The only reason he approached Guffington about this Quest was because of the chance to take Miirym to Dastan to learn about her heritage, and to Xu to revisit the nation they helped. Now, once he hits Level 40 and Miirym ages up, it'll be a different story (I am trying to roleplay Miirym as being very close to her new size category as she's growing naturally), but obviously Arthur doesn't know when Miirym will manifest her elemental ability and thus be considered a youngling instead of a hatchling (and even then he'll still be protective).
  22. I have to admit, a part of me wants to go the whole "nepotism" route with the raffle (i.e. Noel sneaks in an entry for Arthur), but dangit I had him leave Heroica for a reason, and even if Arthur wanted to rejoin permanently, he technically won't have the chance until after he returns to Eubric.
  23. Blah, still wall-of-text-y. I guess I'll get better at short summaries over time, I suppose. In other news...
  24. "I have a few," he says. "I'd tell you about my part in the revolution in Xu, but I'm afraid my companions have heard that tale a few times already." Arthur waits for an opportune moment to introduce himself. "I'm Arthur. Arthur Ziegfried, formerly of Heroica. If you know about the revolution in Xu, then you've probably heard of my part in it as well. I heard you mention Minoid--would that be the original, or one of his "brothers" Mr. Cour produced later?" Arthur looks over to Tarn. "I guess that's a story I can share--the story of how a simple mining automaton came to achieve true sentience along the course of our journey six thousand feet beneath the surface of Olegaia. Mr. Cobb hired us to deal with a mysterious four-story tall giant that had appeared out of nowhere and began terrorizing his miners. Erdy, Grimwald, and I found Minoid, heavily damaged, and helped him repair himself, and together we began to rescue the miners and clear out the Oculoids that had infested the place. Eventually, we found the lair of the madman who had created the giant, which turned out to be another sentient automaton that had been enslaved and abandoned for many, many years. His master forced us to battle the giant, but in the end it was at least able to die free. It was then that Minoid came to understand the nature of humanity, and discovered it within himself. I do hope Minoid's doing well--after everything we dealt with in that mine, he certainly deserves it." OOC: Miirym post later.
