  1. Holy crap. With that amulet, Tensi will be dishing out 16x damage to enemies weak to Fire, for a minimum of 800 damage against foes weak to Fire...
  2. I challenge anyone to look at that plot summary and not have a similar reaction.
  3. I spent 200 gold buffing the group tank and more on remedies to use on them and an Artifact intended to keep the boss from fleeing. Does that count? ...shoot, I knew I'd forgotten something...
  4. Actually, I think Q48 has Q4 beat for length at this point...
  5. Only if the enemy HAS that kind of HP left. I roll fewer SHIELDS while Lucky than I do when not. I don't take Nostrums to get rich, I take Nostrums to not die.
  6. What part of "I never roll SHIELDs" don't you understand?
  7. He could EASILY hit WP:30 on his throwing weapon AND have enough for consumables for days... Don't forget the +6 from the Hide of the Wound in a few levels...
  8. Whatever Gold amount he has at the end of the Quest, remember he'll be getting at LEAST 100 more from the profits of whatever deals he's made... ...mine included.
  9. True, but I have to drop at least a quarter of that on Tonics. I also have bad luck with SHIELDs, so I end up poorer than most of the AC Rogues. Also note that BECAUSE I'm a rogue-class, people tend to charge me more, because they assume I can pay.
  10. Not just non-Rogues. As a Mage-Rogue, I have to decide whether to rely on spells and consumables (especially the Ether-restoring consumables, which can get VERY expensive very quickly) or if I want to go for more gear (until I use my Plaything, there's no real incentive for me to upgrade what I've got) to expand my abilities. I think I've gotten myself into a decent balance, especially with some of my back-room deals. I'm hoping I can get about two to three grand on this Quest, that'll be enough to complete several of my deals while still giving me enough to buy more consumables AND put down enough cash to make Cinna reconsider keeping that Scroll. You can attack, there's just a 50-50 chance you'll attack one of your allies instead. It's better for your party if you just do nothing, actually.
  11. Feeling a sudden sense of paranoia, Arthur slowly uses his Magnifying Glass to examine the cat (in as comforting and reassuring a manner as he can) before using his Magic Compass to determine the general direction Steerpike is located in (and showing the result to Lieutenant Serevan) and using his Telescope to see if anyone is approaching from either side of the alley.
  12. Hehe, liking Serevan so far. Let's see if Arthur can take the high road like he wants to... EDIT: ...aaaaand the paranoia sets in. OK. So it's definitely a Party Leader thing, then.
  13. Something in the alley catches Arthur's eye. He quickly drinks a Nostrum and smelling salts, before examining the scrap of paper behind Sorrow, using his Magnifying Glass to search for any traps before picking it up. He gestures for Nagure to keep an eye on the corridor through the window. "We have serious pride issues, yes. In many ways, the Watch and the Hall are opposites; the Hall often crushes the spirit by forcing such terrible choices upon you that your soul is torn by the very act of having to choose. It destroys people. People like Captain Bennetton, Private Gnash...Heroica does not understand them. They had something within them, something that let them stay strong even in the face of such atrocities as Wren committed...facing death with courage and dignity, and not a trace of fear. They did great good in the world. I don't know if I could ever be like them. But it is my duty to try. That is why I joined the Watch; as penance for my sins as a Hero." Arthur lowers his voice, so only Lieutenant Serevan can hear. "And...well, you are aware of the Watch's past with Heroica. I trust this particular group, but...well, isn't it better to have a man on the inside? I don't know what I can do alone, but if I can use my ties to Heroica to make it stronger, better, as courageous, honorable, and dutiful as the Watch...then I will. I can't do it on my own. But I can at least try. That...is what Duty means, is it not?" "In any event, I look forward to my next regular rounds. The opportunity to 'sweat' in service of my city will be a welcome one. And in the meantime, if there is any way we can aid in your task--at least, without neglecting our own duties--we will do so." OOC: I just noticed, but it seems I forgot to add my un-lent Scroll of Sealing to my stats. I'll correct that now.
  14. I think you're doing a great job with him; he just hasn't had the opportunity to show that side of him as much so far. Bide your time, and when the time is right you can bring that side into fuller focus. Trust me when I say that trying to force specific roleplaying moments is not the way to go. (I will never live down the time I had Arthur torture and eat a Tethusial. ) In other, unrelated news: you gotta love Nerwen's uniquely passive-aggressive style of roleplaying. It's so perfectly Elven, even with the implied snark. I just realized: if I wanted to do a new show segment, would I post it in the Theatre...or in the Theatre in Q66? (I jest, of course...but it makes me wonder what Sandy may have up his sleeve... ) ...I may be just a tad overexcited for/by this Quest.
  15. That's more notes than I keep for Arthur, actually. My notes (which are mostly mental anyway) consist of: "How do I feel about them?", "How do I think they feel about me?" (Arthur thought Thothwick hated him until the very end of 53, which explains why he didn't interact with him as much as I had intended him to), a nickname and/or title for the character (i.e. "Master Docken" or "Lord Boomingham", or "The Lady" for Wren for a while, and a LOT of internal nicknames you guys don't get to see), and one or two crystalizing memories of them (i.e. the Calabor fight in Dastan for Isabella, the failed Palace fight for Alexandre, the Training Room for De'kra, the "Beacons Chat" for Cronk and Tensi, etc. etc. etc.). So, for example, Haldor: respect, hates me, Nord, the argument over Chaos Beasts in Ennon. Or, for Alexandre: buddy, likes me, Alex, the door fight in the Palace.
  16. Sure, keep telling yourself that.
  17. The trope you're referencing is Flat Earth Atheist; I think that most of the atheists in Heroica are more along the lines of NayTheists. (I.E. "The gods don't exist, period" as opposed to "so they exist, but I ain't interested in servin' 'em.") The middle ground, of course, is the belief that what most see as "gods" are actually extremely powerful supernatural beings that are nonetheless simply regular beings that managed to acquire such power. I think Wren came close to that sort of belief, actually.
  18. Agreed, though my personal fave will always be Triad (RIP!). Patricia is amazing, though; you can really feel the sort of suppressed despair that keeps her running, and you really have to admire her for keeping on keeping on in spite of all the difficulties she faces. Heroica would definitely be a VERY different world without her.
  19. Wait, is Boomingham trying to get himself killed?! Calling Nyx a floozy?! I mean, I know he intended it as a clever comeback, but come on, that's just ASKING for trouble.
  20. So, Guffington takes a bunch of Heroes on a luxury cruise around the world? I can see it now: Quest #???: It's a Small World After All.
  21. is having a lot of trouble with set-building. :-(

I see. You're in quite a predicament then. I've never seriously used the LDD, but when I did I found it to be too troublesome... I'd rather use a meager supply of lego and photoshop (well, frankly, I mostly only use powerpoint and paint to do photoshop's job) than bother with LDD.

      Endgame

You DO have it set to LDD extended, right?

Of course! It's more a matter of "holy crap there's a lot of these" and "why is my computer being so slow" and "why do all these people want me to do things that aren't Heroica". :P

  22. "Then off we go." As Arthur walks, he sees that De'kra has written a response in his Journal. Pleased, he begins to pen a reply as they walk. OOC: Spoilered so as not to disrupt the flow.
  23. You could always drop a Scroll of Ice Armor, to round out her arsenal. Clerics don't get any more Ether, though--and Witches lose their Gold-earning skills. At the moment, Sorcerer looks like a better path for Karie, at least in my opinion.
  24. I really, REALLY want to have a scroll duel in the Arena with Karie once she goes Sorcerer.
