This. Rocks. SO hard.

Agreed. I think I mentioned before that they'd make an interesting ship--perhaps not a truly serious one, but a fling, or a friends with benefits sort of scenario. (Actually, why hasn't THAT shown up as a storyline? "Friends with benefits who eventually fall in love" is like one of the top 10 most common rom-com plots ever, how the hell have we been running so long without even touching on it?? ) After some more development, yes. Incidentally, I think Tarn's finally getting to the point where Shaman would be a good choice for him--he's matured, and he's started to realize there's more to life than just hitting things. Plus, that mask SCREAMS "Witch Doctor/Shaman" so loud it's not even funny. Arthur's the type where he'll gladly give up his life to protect something he believes in...but also to have a back up plan to cheat death, especially if his death would mean the thing he's protecting is destroyed. "If you can't win, change the rules." I agree with both of these ideas.

Arthur will likely go Dragoon at some point, since its equipment requirements are nearly identical to Skirmisher.

Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner
Flipz replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Arthur looks back to the cat. So it WAS a trick! He races back to the other Heroes, not waiting for a reply to his letters. -
Especially about his usefulness. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Keep the editor in plain-text, and use the Quote function on party stats rather than copy-paste. It's not TOO hard to learn the coding for the text effects you want, it just takes some time.
-
Yes! That character wouldn't look nearly as badass as Death of Being Metaphorically Stabbed In The Back By A Demigod.
-
My character's father is technically alive, but he's on the plane of death, so really, same difference. Not to mention he's accused of the murder of another father-esque figure... It's the freaking rich-text editor. Switch to plain text and you'll see DOZENS of unnecessary BBCode tags. Things like coloring text black when text is already black by default, or putting in Helvetica font when it's already the default font. And the tags get closed and immediately re-opened in the middle of every other line, it seems. It's a nightmare to sort out, but saves a TON of time and effort in the long run once they're cleared away, and the posts seem to load faster, too.
-
Well, actually... Now see, that's an interesting way to go about it.

If this were a novel instead of an RPG, Arthur would have died three times over already. I seriously thought about killing him off in the last battle of 53, though--finally decided that between the irreplaceable stats, the irreplaceable backstory connection, and the fact that if he were to die in that fight, he should have died when he took the hit from Wren, not at the end from Atramor's dummy move. All I'm going to say is: he's earned a place in the next Theatre post. I'm disappointed I don't get to meet the moon elf guy, or the Zeigfrieds, or Nuitan and Lyren. But there'll be other opportunities. (Well, probably not for Lyren and Nuitan, especially now that the kitchen party is toast. ) Well, if my Magic Compass is any indicator, the whole flippin' Wolfgang army is amassing to the east of the Theatre, and if all the party guests are Badly Poisoned and Weakened... Quit. Killing. My family members. Hey, I thought long and hard about using Z-mail. Finally decided it was a justified use, and if anyone's got the backstory justification for actual use, it's Arthur.
-
Hey, quit pre-emptively killing off all my family members before I can actually meet them and find out they're my family members!

Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner
Flipz replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Right." Arthur pulls out two separate pieces of parchment, and begins to write a message on the first. Arthur addresses the first to Lieutenant Serevan. He feels a momentary twinge of annoyance, but he shakes it off. The job is more important. "I've got Z-mail." He then addresses his next letter to Captain Patricia. "I've got Z-Mail." -

"What I wouldn't give for a proper Ranger at this point..." Arthur mutters. He looks around, trying to determine what the building is and, if it is a business, what it is called. He attempts to locate a window and, after using his Magnifying Glass to look for traps, he looks inside without entering. -
Gosh, I'm misreading a TON of things today...
-
Wait, hold on, is it a 50% chance? The rules only say we can leave battle at any time, but I could have sworn I've seen rolls for it... Yeah, just saw that. Weird, I could have sworn I've seen at least one Quest in which a Rogue's Flee was rolled for...
-
Eh, Flee's a 50% chance, I don't want to risk it.

Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner
Flipz replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Will do. Just make sure at LEAST one of you stays at our post." Arthur accepts the Smoke Bomb and walks to the end of the alley, using his telescope to see where the cat went. While walking, he again uses his Magic Compass to see if the cat was leading him to Violetta. -
It's a kitty! And, I already did a search for Violetta, while the cat was still there--it wasn't her. Exactly, thus why the Smoke Bomb to ensure I get away. I don't plan to go beyond the end of the alley, anyway. If it gets much farther I'm going to go find Serevan or Patricia and call for backup.

"All right, Sorrow, you and Nagure stay here to guard the door. If you'll pass me one of those Smoke Bombs, I'll be right back." -
Pie is automatically disqualified from 66, since he's a poisoner, and, well... In the middle of the island, surrounded by dangerous dinosaurs, Benji suddenly spontaneously combusts. He is dead. No, no, no, no! He's immune to that!
-
Experience. The current HP stays where it is, but the max HP immediately returns to normal.
-
If they're stuck at 1 HP, all they have to do is not attack (or in the case of Clerics, heal an ally or an undead enemy) and they're virtually guaranteed not to be KO'd. That's not a good thing; it discourages use of Remedies to remove the Cursed effect.
-
Oh, really? That's actually kind of silly. It makes Cursed significantly less frightening to Heroes.
-
That's actually a good idea--remember how Yamsar used the bodies of the dead fruit monsters to make the first meal? If you use venom on these enemies, and Yamsar uses them as food, you'd poison the guests!
-
Any low level Hero? Really, it's more about keeping rare items in circulation instead of destroying them.
