Agreed. For the sake of offering an alternative, perhaps they could also come at an Ether cost, but really I prefer them as consumables.

Those Amulets are cursed to cause the QM issues. I'll bet Zeph had an AMAZING side-Quest set up for you, and Althior just broke it.

Well, actions all in, and time for finals! I'll be busy until at least 7:00 PM Pacific time. Later, all!

Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner
Flipz replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"One more time, fellas." Battle Order: (And suggested actions) Nagure (Stone Hammer) vs. Ajax (Front Row) >Arthur (Scroll of Blindness) vs. Crosette (Back Row) >Arthur retrieves Unlucky Horseshoe >Arthur (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Bowen (Back Row) >Arthur (Scroll of Blindness) vs. Crosette OR if already Blinded, vs. Bowen (Back Row) >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Arrowric (Back Row) >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Arrowric (Back Row) -
They are, though as a side note I have a feeling said summons might be in need of a stat buff, just like Edgar. That's the problem with non-Evoker summons: they are EXTREMELY succeptible to power creep. Sandy's original solution (Evoker summons having Power equal to the Evoker's level + Skeleton Decoys being Skeleton Decoys and having Advanced versions available) is really elegant.

Rules question: If someone with a Wood- AND Light-elemental weapon attacked an Undead Etherial enemy, would it deal damage or not?

New QMs might not even know the place exists, and would create a new investment firm--not that that's a bad thing, but part of the charm of Heroica is how characters and locations get revisited from different perspectives and how plot lines cross over with each other (heck, that's part of what made Dastan so much fun). The point of the wiki is twofold: 1.) to catalogue those things that would otherwise fall through the cracks (the bit about trading in the metals market, for example, or the fact that one of the employees is a Triple Magic junkie, or the quote Scuba dug up from Sandy about Zoot and Azazot) and 2.) to catalogue THAT things exist, so other QMs can use them. A new QM could browse through the wiki, see the page about Sem's Sensible Investments, and--because WBD's name and profile are linked prominently--they could contact WBD for more info. I kind of alluded to this earlier, but I envision a wiki as primarily useful for QMs and potential QMs, as a resource to aid in Quest-building; for players, I'd still recommend reading the Quests and asking things in-character. Yes, individual Quests would have their own pages, but aside from a VERY bare-bones summary of the plot (think hardcover book dust jacket) the article would be primarily lists of things appearing in the Quest: characters, items, species, places, shops (with prices), events, etc. The authors of the webcomics I read regularly troll me with TvTropes links; if I'm going to waste hours of my life there anyway, I might as well be constructing tab lists to compile onto the Heroica page. Speaking of which, there are several characters I'm having trouble finding tropes for, so: Random Question of the Random Time Period! What one or two tropes best represent your character? How about your (or others') NPCs? (I'm primarily looking for tropes that give unfamiliar readers a quick concept of the character at a glance, so for example: [[GentlemanRogue Thothwick]] exhibited this trope in Quest 14, when he..." Or, as the current page shows, "Amazon Chaser: Dogged Nice Guy Tarn Valco was this to Action Girl Tensi Hightribe early on." Speaking of Tarn, I do need a better trope for him, that one won't work everywhere.)

For me? Syntax/wiki formatting. Templates* would be a HUGE help, but they're tricky to set up; if someone could handle creating the actual boxes on the screen, I'd be happy to write pretty much all of the flavor text for them. *Templates as in the little boxes on the right, or notifications about "This article or section requires cleanup", "this article or section has been requested to be expanded", "this article has been suggested to be merged with X", "this article or section lacks proper citations", "this article, section, or image has been nominated for deletion", etc. Also, we have a TV Tropes page now. Thanks to Endgame for actually starting the thing and prompting me to actually make an account. I've been adding trope examples all afternoon.
-
And I'd be happy to do a lot of the work myself, provided someone can give me a crash-course in wiki coding and syntax. (Also, added a few details to the page--this is pretty much guaranteed to be the first actual article on the wiki once it's made, now. )

So this is wrong? Granted, that article's a little more in-depth and interpretive than even I'd like, but what about something like this article, or this one? Encyclopedias aren't supposed to make value judgments on the meaning of things; they're supposed to catalogue factual information on a given subject. So, (extremely short) example article: Sem's Sensible Investments [thumbnail of this image ] Sem's Sensible Investments Location in Eubric Freeport Owner: Tarnsash Swifthorn Notable Employees: U'Toolen (U'kin) First Appeared in: Quest #28: The Breakthrough Status: Open, in business Creator: Waterbrick Down (Or, if a direct PM link would be problematic, we could just link to their user page.) Sem's Sensible Investments is a financial and trade institution located in Eubric Freeport. Owned by Tarnsash Swifthorn, a Minotaur, it is one of the most respectable financial and trade institutions after the Cathedral of Commerce[1]. The business is known to trade in the metals market[2]. It is located next to the Academy of Enlightenment[3]. This article is a Stub. You can help the Eurobricks Heroica RPG wiki by expanding it. Appearances: *Quest #28: The Breakthrough References: [1] - Official Heroica NPC Index: showtopic=66614&st=25#entry1422819 [2] - Quest #28: The Breakthrough: showtopic=68458&st=425#entry1286875 [3] - Quest #28: The Breakthrough: showtopic=68458&st=25#entry1256518 Not really giving any meaning, just facts. If I wanted to use Sem's Sensible investments in a Quest, this would be pretty much everything I'd need.

Again, I agree, but that's the QM's job; it shouldn't be implicit in the rules. @Q62: I'm shocked none of you have thought to ask for reputation.

Wookieepedia doesn't prevent or even discourage reading of the books in the Star Wars EU, nor does it discourage people from watching the movies. It simply catalogues information about the world itself and general overviews of the events in an easily-accessible format. And really, if you don't want to read the wiki, don't. It'd me no more obtrusive than the existing NPC index (speaking of which, Zepher... ). For those of us who QM or want to QM, however, it would be an invaluable resource that would help us to keep things consistent.
-
They sort of already exist (Fire->Burned, Electric->Stunned, Plant/Wood->Bound, etc.), but I'd argue it's up to the QM to include such things.
-
We need one. End of story. I will be HAPPY to help organize and flesh out the project in regards to information, I just need a little help with wiki formatting.
-
Same here. Maybe I can find a friend who wants the console version, he can buy the game for PC and I can pre-order their console version for the promo, and we can swap. But it's still pretty stupid that PC gamers are getting screwed here.
-
CJP, Benji gets Lethal Aim instead of Miss.
-
Yes, they don't have specific avatars in the universe; that doesn't mean that they have no effect or influence on the world. As to Azazot...speak for yourself. Just because a god is evil or hates the gods doesn't make them not a god.
-
Alchemist Guts is in some ways slightly better, since he can use them AND attack in a turn, and he can spread them to us in between battles anyway. I do think we want a Druid, though.
-
I just realized how insane my current build (once I've finished my current deals) would be for the Fields. I mean, holy cow that'd be crazy... We just have to wait for me to hit 30 so we have full choice between Skirmisher, Regulator, and Sorcerer. This amuses me far more than it should.
-
So in other words, get you to Level 30, give you Docken's immune-to-everything Dread Hat and have you equip the Pheles Rod, and go to town with Special Mirror. Is that it?
-
It's next to impossible to make that sort of run, though--eventually, your luck, your consumables, or both will run out, and then you're toast. Odd question: if a party is ejected from the Fields by all members being KO'd, do they still get a chance to shop using their Glory Points?
-
Well, for starters half of the party members would have been permanently dead, including one Test Quester and the first character to reach Level 30.

She made it pretty clear that she expected to cease to exist as an individual on the physical plane once she ascended. I think she expected to just "vanish" and have exactly the same influence on Olegaia as the existing pantheon did. (Which makes it all the more incomprehensible why she wouldn't accept Arthur as a follower. ) I have a feeling Patricia would have to be involved...she's pretty much the only positive commonality between the two.

*Owns Scarf of Misfortune *Owns Unlucky Horseshoe *Owns four Jinxy Juice *Has a lot of respect for someone Guts has a lot of respect for *Also owns a Scroll that can potentially save a little money on Nostrums for Guts if enough Grand Tonics are provided This basically summarizes your entire life in Heroica, doesn't it? Psst...you're NOT playing a Progg at the moment. Just thought you ought to know.

Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner

OOC: Sorrow should get 4 rolls from him being Lucky AND Elijah being Jinxed. "All right, let's focus on Elijah, and Arrowric if he goes down." Battle Order (and suggested actions) Nagure (Stone Hammer) vs. Ajax Arthur (Staff of Ennon) vs. Elijah (Front Row) Arthur (Staff of Ennon) vs. Elijah (Front Row) >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Elijah (Back Row) >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Elijah (Back Row)
