That's it, all your loot for the rest of the Quest goes to Arthur until you play Slender: The Eight Pages and/or record yourself doing it. Well, or you could watch ...

Nooo! *delays own Quest more* Haha, I see what you did there. Glad to see people debating Arthur's choice--I've been doing a lot of that myself. Yeah, they caught him off-guard. Poor Arthur. First he's nice to a kitty that tries to lead him into a trap, then the people he thinks he'll be able to fight with no moral problems turn out to be pretty sympathetic. Can nothing in this city be simple for Arthur? Fortunately, Sorrow and Donny have been kind of back-and-forth antagonistic, to remind him that they can still be jerks. I know, right? My Quest could have launched yesterday if it weren't for the set-building process. I even made a quick sketch-up of one of my sets to build in LDD, and even then it's taking forever.

Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner
Flipz replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Oh really? That's not what I've heard. You say you supported those riots. How would that have been safe for anyone, rich or poor? How would such a chaotic, uncontrolled brawl not turn into a massacre amidst such wild confusion? And what about Grogmas eve? Where were the Wolfgang when Pongcanis warriors and beasts of Chaos stormed the streets, murdering the innocent and killing true heroes? Would that not have been the perfect time to show the city how much you truly cared for them? We weren't too busy saving the world to save Eubric. We were here. My past three Quests have been in this city, trying to save it. And I'm probably going to fail. But damn it, I have to try." "And really, what's so wrong about trying to change the system from within? Have you even considered a path that doesn't involve brutal murders that will throw the city into chaos? Let's not forget, after Heroica put down that riot, Hestia Bonaparte--one of the people they had just tried to murder--brought them back to life. Is that the action of a monster who won't see reason? Besides, from what I can tell, the next generation of the Houses are much better than their parents. Violetta, you say many of the Watch were sympathetic to your cause. Might not the children of Eubric's leaders be similarly sympathetic? If we can just hold the city together until they take power...Eubric can work itself out, over time, and fewer will die along the way." "Bottom line, your cause is just, but your methods aren't. You're doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, but it's still the wrong thing. Eubric does need change, but not the sort you or I can offer it. If the Wolfgang want to go straight, I'd be happy to walk you through it. But as it stands now, you're just going to cause more problems than you'll solve, and I won't be a part of that. I've walked that path before, and I will always help people off of it. But I'm not walking it again." OOC: Since Costy is offline for a few more days, I'll give him the option to decide this retroactively. "Nagure. Just a word of warning. Whatever decision you make, I won't hold it against you, but if you do side with them, you'd best stand with us in battle, even if you do nothing but stand in front and protect us. I don't know if I'd be able to protect you if any others of the Watch saw you fighting at the Wolfgang's side." Nagure gives Arthur a look and whispers something to Violetta, before moving back to stand with the others. "Now, let this end as it must." -
That depends on how much you care about each character/plotline. I care a lot about De'kra and his plotlines, so I follow them as carefully as I can. I care a lot about Sorrow's plotlines, so I follow them as closely as I can. There are other characters I pay less attention to, because (don't take this the wrong way) I don't particularly care about their plotlines. I still have a general idea about what's going on in Heroica, but if I don't understand I don't bother to look it up unless it's affecting one of the characters I DO care about. (The same thing goes for conceptual plotlines, too--I tend to zero in on Zoot and Chaos discussion and ignore less interesting topics, much like how TheBoyWonder zeroes in on Wolfgang discussion but not so much on other storylines.) I realize that sounds cold, but it's basically how we experience the real world. If someone's talking to us about something we don't understand, we generally either nod along politely (if we don't particularly care) or else stop and ask questions (if we do care). It's similar to theatre as well; if one performer is giving a superior performance, we'll tend to watch them more than the others, and occasionally we'll miss stuff because of it. We don't HAVE to follow everything in Real Life if we don't want to--why should we have to do it in a game if we don't want to? Oops... Also, Sandy, just so you know, I posted a reply to Donny and Violetta, I think we cross-posted.

Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner
Flipz replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Arthur sighs at the sincerity in the generals' voices. "Damn. And here I thought this'd be easy. You know, I used to think like you do. That a great change was coming to this city, that I could shape it into a better place at the side of a woman who would conquer Zoot and redeem Chaos. I even betrayed Heroica, and my fellow Heroes, for the sake of making a better world." "[color-#483D8B]I was a fool. And I lost. And good people died to spare my from my rightly-deserved death. And for what? A city that won't even know what perils they've faced, what sacrifices were made for them? A city that, if they did know, wouldn't care? Let me tell you a secret. People like you and me? We're the heroes Eubric deserves, not the ones it needs. We can try so hard, and get so far, but in the end it doesn't even matter; in the end, we have to fall. Because we're the villains. Even though we truly want to make the world a better place, that's who we are to them. They will always hate us. And we will lose because of it.[/color]" "And besides, what about people like Patricia? She wants the world to be a better place, and she's in a position to do so. Why not support her? Or better yet, why not change the system from within, convince the Houses to work together for the betterment of Eubric? Why hire petty thugs and common criminals? I just don't understand why things have to be the way they are. Why the people who are best for Eubric--no, for the world--are doomed to be at each others' throats." The frustration in Arthur's voice is clearly evident. Arthur turns to include the other two Heroes in his address. "My duty is to make sure no one comes in or out of this door. The only way anyone is getting through is if I am dead. Anything else...that's up to you. Make the decision you feel is right in your hearts. Patricia may hold it against you, but I...I won't. I can't. It's just not who I am." "As for me...I don't know. I'm not betraying the Guard. Patricia gave me a second chance, a chance to do some good in the city. Bennetton and Gnash died for me. I can't dishonor them. But I don't feel right about fighting you two, either." He kneads his forehead. "Damn it, if you two just used your talents for good instead of working with the worst sort of criminals..." -
I disagree, for the simple fact that aside from sign-ups, the Hall has no purpose outside of roleplaying. The Hall would be terribly boring without it. And yet when Arthur tried it he caught flak for it.

Every little bit helps.

Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner
Flipz replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Before doing anything else, Arthur uses an Ether Core and downs a Nostrum and Smelling Salts, slotting his Elixir back into his Hollow Blade. "Nagure, I'm taking your portion of the Gold out of your debt. I suggest you drink one of those Smelling Salts. Sorrow, sorry there's not much here for you--though you DID get that nice helmet earlier...anyway, those shackles would be a nice choice right now instead of your armor, just a suggestion..." Loot: Nagure-2x Grand potion, 2x Smelling Salts, -70 Gold to debt Sorrow-1x Smelling Salts, 3x Grand Potion, 70 Gold Arthur-140 Gold Arthur turns to the two Wolfgang lieutenants, nodding at the cat. "Sugar there owes me her life. Sorrow had a feeling she was trouble, wanted to shoot her on sight." He sighs. "I doubt you're here to turn yourselves in, and I'm sure you would't come quietly anyway, so I won't bother with the whole 'you're under arrest' cliché. Likewise, I think we all know why you're here, but I'll indulge you anyway: 'what do you want?' And I mean that both as 'Why are you here right now?' AND 'Why do you do what you do in general?'." "Oh, and incidentally, I assume Steerpike is already inside? I'd appreciate confirmation anyway." Arthur checks his Magic Compass for Steerpike, and then, on impulse, for Donny Dozenhands, Violetta, and Ulric as well. "Why bother with all of this, anyway? It's not like poisoning the Houses will do any good--you can't exactly extort money out of someone who's dead." -
Exactly, sort of how people at Hogwarts know who Hermione Granger or Fred and George Weasley are even if they've never met them; their reputation precedes them.

Heroica RPG - Quest#66: WANTED! Steerpike the Poisoner

...and I underestimate how little damage I deal. I figured it'd add one Round, not twenty. "OK, that didn't go as planned. Let's just finish her off already." Battle Order: Arthur (Sir Roderick's Sword) vs. Crossette, Front Row Arthur (Sir Roderick's Sword) vs. Crossette, Front Row >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Crossette, Back Row >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Crossette, Back Row Nagure (Stone Hammer) vs. Crosette, Front Row OOC: If any Hero takes damage, we'll Counterstrike Crosette to death with Nagure at the top of the battle order doing nothing in the Front Row. -
My female characters generally turn out better than my male characters for some reason. Vaygas is the first really vibrant male character I've written...so naturally I put him on a bus.

What's her relationship to Clibburne? Friend, ally, mistress...? Also, that fluffy pillow...Doc, you WANT that.

"All right, I'll finish off Crossette, you two finish Ajax." Battle Order: We can autoroll with this, if you'd like. >Arthur (Sir Roderick's Sword) vs. Crossette (Back Row) >Arthur (Sir Roderick's Sword) vs. Crossette (Back Row) Nagure (Stone Hammer) vs. Ajax (Front Row) OR if Ajax dead, do nothing >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Ajax (Back Row) OR if Ajax dead, do nothing >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Ajax (Back Row) OR if Ajax dead, do nothing -
If actions had to come in in the proper order, the Arena would be even slower than it already is.

"OOC: forgot to add, feel free to autoroll with this battle order and actions. If Nagure finishes Ajax, he'll attack Bowen next, and then Crossette. "Sorrow, as soon as this battle is over, I'm going to check my Magic Compass for Steerpike again. These goons aren't here by accident. If he's in there, I want you to run to Patricia and inform her of what's happened so far, and ask her if she needs our assistance." -

OOC: Yay, Mirror Damage actually accounted for for once! Damage caused and given should be halved, though, since I was in the Back Row Actually, wasn't Bowen still Blinded for that Round? Also: come on, Magnetic Mojo, I needs to double my Gold... "All right, Sorrow, let's try to finish this up. Keep it up, Nagure, one good hit'll take him out." Battle Order: Nagure (Stone Hammer) vs. Ajax (Front Row) >Arthur (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Crossette (Back Row) >Arthur (Scroll of Blindness) vs. Crossette (Back Row) >Arthur (Scroll of Sealing) vs. Crossette (Back Row) >Arthur (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Crossette (Back Row) (if first attack successful, use Staff of Ennon instead, still Back Row) >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Bowen (Back Row) >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Bowen (Back Row) -
Welp, that's finals! I still have a few day trips to campus to sort out records and paperwork, but now I can FINALLY get back to building my Quest. It doesn't look like I'll make my original deadline of the end of this month, but now that I'm able to dedicate more time to building, I'm sure I'll be able to make TONS of progress in a short amount of time.

Nono, it's MY 1900th post in the thread, not the 1900th overall.
-
I gotta say, when Dreyrugur said he wanted to find the Arsonist's body, I was half expecting him to do some sort of ritual to turn him into an undead for whatever reason. The reward posters never occurred to me. Woo, 1900th post in the thread!

Ah, I see.
-
Not quite. (DLL had asked my advice about it, so I know what it was going to be.)
-
Speaking of which, did you roll the chance for that, or was that just auto-applied?
-
I pre-emptively blame you for my nightmares tonight.
-
Let's also not forget that Mediq comes from a pagoda full of powerful spiritual leaders, and, most importantly, already has a name. But for the rest of them... Definitely like this one.

Holy cow, those are a PERFECT "upgrade" from bombs (well, aside from Cannoneer), I can't believe I didn't realize that! This must become an Expert Class.
