  1. I'm not happy about this. Whatever any random StarWars-geek may find I sort of find all newer designs the line carries very bland. When I think of SW-Lego nowadays it breaks down like this: "Useful parts for non-space? No. = worthless to me" But I admit of course it might be good news to the SW-crowd.
  2. Kill Bill vol.1 - still have that song of the "5.6.7.8.'s" in my ear...
  3. 7016 8777 - discounted; last one on the shelf -> couldn't resist, and another eques for my shadow knights can't hurt, can he? Visited the Lego store in Oberhausen just today...2 buckets of PaB, some minor parts and one of the cool Fig-head-egg-clocks are now mine ^^... sadly my sister kinda pushed to leave, so no minifigs today T___T they even had black stubby-legs in abundance!

I see a trend to non-vagetarism/veganism on these boards here. I find that interesting since it throws up question concerning the mutual dependance of age, social heritage, education and lifestyle. All before the background of Lego that is ^^ Any sociology-students here? Then take a break from omnipresent gender-studies (what a damn pain...everywhere...) and focus on some studies concerning hobbyist groups. Bet that'd be a blast to have some statistic on the "average AFOL".
  5. As a fact of the matter I just about said one year ago, that, should Playmobil ever attempt at ancient Greeks or Romans, I would fall in love with the company all over again (I had loads of Playmo, along my Lego of course, in my childhood)... Damn! Seems both companies are conspiring against my wallet here, so many lines with Lego and now this Playmobil-bliss! Agh! But as an archaeologist in the making I already spotted a big mistake concerning that arena-set: Chariot races where hardly ever held in round arenas but in the specially designed "circi", meaning the race tracks of which the circus maximus was, what a surprise judging by name, was the greatest in ancient Rome. Some minor circi were found near the Tiber (river) south of the "campus martius" (Mars-plain)... Back to Lego here: I am happy to see that there are flat roundshields included at least in the new armoured dragon set of the viking line. I am however very inclined to buy a buttload of the smaller viking-ship to stock up on 'em...even if that means to have also an arseful of mostly unusable brown boatsies floating around...aw. never mind...

So folks! I am in the mood to initiate silly and useless topics here since I intend to get wasted on red wine tonight! So here it is, the possibly first "thread de manger" on Eurobricks! Tell your Forum-Bros and Sis's what you are by telling them what you eat. All are welcome, may you be raging carnophiles, alcohol-absentees, chocaholics (like myself ^^), veggies or whatever ^^ The plan is here to get a view on the cuisine of choice of our fellow members, cause we all know how a culture is also defined through the dinners it serves. Please refrain from using obscure brand-names members outside your country will probably not know (this is especially valid to our american and UK members! what's that with all those cheesy product-monickers?!) So under the very premise of "My diet is the grave I chose" let the culinary carnage begin ^^ Favourite food: Will taste all, though I am exceptionally reluctant when it comes to seafood. Fish, mussles and all other "fruit de mer" are not my type of chocolate ^^ Other more or less random stimuli: Chocolate, preferably above a certain percentage of cocoa (plus de 60% min.), wine (am no sommelier, who is a "wine-master" of sorts..., so I am hardly picky), beer which I AM picky about...I will taste all sorts though. Favourite dish: Possibly something with spinach...or pasta...or something from greek cuisine (gosh how I just LOVE olives of all kind!!!)... In the end there is effectively too much to mention here ^^ And for the record: Yes! I do love eating, and exploring tastes of every kind. Does that make me a "gourmet-in-training"?
  8. "Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids" - Cradle Of Filth
  9. There is a Batsignal in the Batcave set.. Though true, it makes absolutely NO sense. At all! Why would Batman lit the signal himself? Is he supposed to be reading while jetting around in his Batwing, and needs some illumination from the Batsignal reflecting from the clouds?! I'd rather have a gotham police H.Q. for the Batsignal. Along with some cool new enemy...
  10. This sounds sooo familiar it's scary... I caught myself many times lately whistling the Super Mario Theme in public... and loudly! I just hope noone knows the melody where I go to university ^^
  11. how 'bout some kind of source?! sounds rather uncredible to me...
  12. You have an opinion there, but don't forget one can hardly argue over taste. I personally prefer architecture and playset-features over vehicles anyday. That's exactly what bothered me with the SW line. And for reception of Batman as a character, I'd say he is strong through gadgets, but in the end it boils down to the interaction between Batman and Gotham city. I think it's rather the city itself, than the villains, which is Batman's ultimate enemy.
  13. That's a fantastic idea! Unlocking the heroes' and villains' different costumes is very nice as a reward. Alternate models for the vehicles in the game would be a nice bonus, too! Imagine you could choose between 3 to 4 different Batmobiles to chase your baddy of the day! Of course the instructions for the models in the game would be available either in the game (after unlocking) or as download from Lego's website. Having Ogel, Brickster or Lord Sinister in the game would be awsome! Even if they just make cameo-appearances as inmates in Arkham Asylum or "Wanted" fliers in Commisioner Gordon's office ^^ Lego! There is sooo much potential in the idea, use it (waves hand jedi-style)!! I know some Lego employee WILL read this...hopefully
  14. the avatar sets look somewhat bland now. that's a given. but the ship might be useful to stock up on new greys... there are however some observations concerning parts in set3828 (that fortressy/towery looking thing). look at the bottom right corner: one baddy sports a dark red vladek visor, and it gets better (!): look left of the catapult, halfly hidden under the "toywiz.com" letters is a (dark) red classic castle helmet! the type with curved neck and noseguard! this is definitely an interesting piece! left of the tower is some yellowy thingy floating in midair. given it is also featured on the top-side of the box, along with the other figs, it has to be some kind of brick-built animal/creature/sidekick/whatever...appearing to have rabbit-like ears. could anyone, who knows the avatar-show, identify this chap?
  15. Cathedral Final Confrontation - approx. 70
  16. Well Shigeru Miyamoto actually designed a character-sprite for a to-be big-hit arcade machine "starring" a mad mean monkey throwing barrels... you might quite know the story, red overall because it looks cool, blue shirt to separate it from the overall, white gloves to distinguish hands, a big nose to have at least somthing in the face...add a 'stache to divide the face into nose and chin, topped by a cap, because it's easier to "not" animate hair. with the gameplay actually consisting of jumping over barrels, jumping over fire and, well, jumping over whatsoever... our beloved bellied hero of our youths was first christened "JUMPMAN"! "mario" was the name the big boss of NoA gave jumpman after having noticed the striking resemblance between the vg-sprite and NoA landlord... a 'stached bellied italian going by the first name "mario"... what a style to be remembered into eternity ^^
  17. either super mario or megaman... ...judging by the insane amount of super mario doodles that take shape during university classes these days i'd say super mario. additionally the latest phony-sony sell out (MM and MMX remakes for dreaded PSP exclusively? gotta be kidding...a bloody stab in the back of big N) alienated me from megaman a little. other nice characters are: fox mc cloud and peppy hare from starfox-series, samus aran from metroid, donkey kong, pit from kid icarus (though his game-career was rather short-lived...sadly) and many other big N usuals. the sonic crew is cool as well, though in the latest games i played they went down the DBZ/GT route (as if shadow wasn't anything else than been based on Super Saiyan 4 looks...) third parties and nintendo-competitors don't have the style i'm actually warmed up to, so things like crash bandicoot, spyro and master chief (faceless cardboard stand-in) don't cut it with me. for pc games the only character with really something like an attitude would be duke nukem...ahem...well... btw: should anyone name master chief as his/her favourite game character, he/she will lose all respect in the fields of videogames i am actually physically and mentally able to grant to that person!
  18. Love it! although the pineapple looks strange in the pics. great minifig-concept. one gripe: a spongebob minifig will, apart from being torn apart, hardly serve as a different character than spongebob...
  19. Well damn...so it seems I'm stuck with either shitty IE or tweak around FF until I get it right by accident...
  20. Ask and ye shalt be served. Here ye go: Example of an "empty" post. Messy monstrous meltdown...worst case scenario! Hope this helps. Cutty
  21. better KK2 pics make my heart sing ^^ i will get dozens of that bridge and boat sets... and a big "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!" goes out to the dreaded turning stair case, known already from HP sets, which makes its return in the batcave... ill played Lego!!!
  22. speaking of jumbled...is anyone else having problems with the forum's layout? i noticed it especially in posts from JINZONINGEN which are just empty with the control-icons' bar slightly jaggered, tearing the layout apart. sometimes posts appear juggled randomly, leaving some posts empty with the text shifted to the bottom of the page where usually the "reply" and "new topic" buttons are... it seems there is a lot to iron out still, but i keep all fingers crossed for our fine 'dmins to do the job! Thumbs up, guys!
  23. but I believe people can only make up their mind over something through autopsy...so discussing a comic strip, which acted supposedly as a spark in a fireworks-factory, may be fine and all, but what the real controversial momentum in this case is, will only reveal itself to those who lay their eyesight upon the corpus delicti first handedly
  24. by the way...is the comic strip available online anywhere? could someone provide a link?
  25. After the discussion in the community concerns thread spawned some valuable insights I decided to propose a new forum where members might experience the now lost randomness of the old days. Basically I have a sort of unmoderated forum in mind ("UnMod" for short), an idea which I basically "borrowed" from the ocremix.org forums. The idea behind it is a place where anything is possible (though limited, s.below) and nothing is reprehended by mods. As for limitations I think of the obvious X-rated sex themes and strong graphical violence (so no gangbangs or lynch parties for the masses!) While it seems to defeat the purpose of UnMod, it serves the destinction between grown up discussion of more explicit themes (which I personally only found in the now lost chat here) and utter vulgarity. Chained with this would easily be the need for some age-checking beforehand. I see the danger of fraud here, and can not really think up a means to be sure of a members age (although a mandatory face-pic in a special thread could be helpful to determine one's age...). I think there are means to find here. Additionally I sense the need for a minimum post threshold to be met, before a (new) member is allowed to post in UnMod. Perhaps 200 - 250 posts might be enough to be sure someone is going to stick around longer here. By the time a member reaches that threshold the other board members would most likely already have developed personal awareness of that community member (at least I hope so). I see a need here to have a forum where people can get off topic and discuss matters that exceed the possibilities of a public community forum with a more rigid and "official" premise. I hope I could spark some interest here. Sincerely yours, Cutty
