  1. Chicken Little, V for Vendetta and Inside Man Chicken Little was cute, but not outstanding. The baby-alien at the end was gorgeous ^^ And V for Vendetta was absolutely amazing! I loved every second of it. Go get out there and watch it...if only to reassure yourself that the Wachowski bros. CAN actually do good movies (I still think Matrix 2 and 3 are good movies...). Inside Man is pure bliss! I mean all these funny characters twisting in this highly interwoven story, multiple story-layers...and a katharsis that is predictable but fun to watch ^^ And Jodie Foster is brilliant ^^
  2. I agree completely on that purchases of entire sets part. Yet I don't think Lego is unclear about the minifigs' popularity among their fans...I mean just look how they advertize: Whenever you come across a Lego-ad somewhere it shows figs. Whenever you visit some toystores you'll probably see a minifig, when there is a display for according themes. A local department store where I live even has oversized plastic minifig construction workers in a display (and that for as long as I can remember...). Then the whole merchandizing: Plush-figs, minifig as a sculpture-set, all the different keychains (!!!*)...you name it! I don't quite get why Lego is so stingy with minifigs in sets lately (although it was worse a time back), but as I said I'm pretty positive about Lego knowing what kind of iconic character they have at their disposal. *would Lego REALLY produce their keychains with a focus on figs if thy didn't knew about their appeal and popularity? I doubt it! As for minifig-packs: I think we should get these again as they were in the 70s and 80s. Small 6-figure assortment for the major lines. Lego could jazz those packs up even more, if they introduced collectible bonus-figures (1 per pack) randomly packed. Those bonus figs would be even more appealing, if they had odd parts with them (like differently coloured/printed helmets, special chrome accessories...whatever). Lego has done that kind of thing already for their Bionicle-line, so why not do it for System? Hell, those random figs could even be introduced to regular sets, so you get 1 fig more per set, yet your don't know which one of the random ones (which are predetermined and limited of course! And there shouldn`t be more than, say, up to 10 different random figs per theme)
  3. Somehow I like the idea, though the results are most definitely up for interpreting as the test person sees fit. I will try out later, though I guess my results will differ greatly from Oompas ^.o
  4. I would use SNOT more often if it was more intuitive to employ properly. Almost all the usual SNOT-pieces have some wierd degree of superfluous height to it (headlight-bricks, etc.) that makes it difficult to realign bricks orderly to give the creation a polished look to it. Ok, "real" SNOT-masters might calculate that Lego-mathematics with a quarter-volume of their brain, but for non-nerds like myself it's kinda hard to figure it out. Ok, that might be a stereotype, but I'm not really into calculating brick-heights and stud alignments before I get to build. Same thing is valid for jumper-plates wich create an offset. If you're not really deep into these things it's hard to use their potential to its full extent. One question that bugs me right now is the obvious latest fad of the master-builder-crowd: building and leaving no studs or undersides of plates/bricks visible (obviously to create a smooth surface, mostly achieved through SNOT). Does one really HAVE to master that technique in order to be recognized as a good mocer?
  5. Cool find Aredhel! Any chance where those came from could be some others? I myself managed to snatch 3x 7413 for 3
  6. wait...we do? 8-| Mais oui! Every european message-board has one! Didn't you know? Don't forget, we in Europe invented the spanish inquisition... ;-) Seriously, I don't find much appeal in Lugnet where a posse of Brickfest-chums socialize and blow sugary compliments up each others arses...or release hell on each other. Thy might not have such a kiddy-problem like other sites (EB included) but given the shite that unrolls there from time to time I think the overall difference in posting habits is miniscule and neglible...though our crash-kids here might not know any better due to age...the mature crowd on Lugnet however...well, I think my point is clear. I thank the powers that be, or our wonderful admins for that matter ;-) , for this nice refuge of good-clean-fun which is EB. Although: Lugnet has it's benefits! When they highlight a Moc there it is, by good chance, truely a beautiful accomplishment in Lego, which is of course what it all should be about.
  7. This license is useless for Lego as we know the only reason for the average heterosexual human being watching this series were the abundant BOOBS everywhere. And as far as I know Lego could never render such protuberances in minifig-format... ...nice April fool's joke there ^^
  8. one word: AAAAAWESOME! though I'd have my doubts on heat generation aso. Hopefully this fine "mod-case" doesn't melt away...
  9. Early childhood injuries are sometimes really ouchy... When I was five I fell from chair backwards onto a cupboard's ledge -> broke my arm, though this wasn't discovered until five days after that. I don't even remember that much of this incident. At age 11 or so we arrived for holiday on a northsea-island. I took a ride on my just prepared bike the first day...and fell palms-first onto the graveled path...the skin of my palms was entirely ruptured (both hands) and it hurt like f**k. I don't need to mention the first week of vacation (of 3 in total...) was spent entirely inside the house. Never had such a shitty holiday..apart from that other time, when...that's another story. Then I had a small fracture of the same finger I cut yesterday from poking my sister (while wrestling around with my her..) about 2 years ago. Went like: POKE -> ouch! -> finger taped for 3 weeks... My facit: Silly fingers...always getting in the way *wacko* :-P :-D Well I usually WOULD use cutlasses, falcatas and macheira for cutting my bread, but just yesterday, AS AN EXCEPTION, I used a small wave-bladed bread-knife... Had I had my bih
  10. Whoa Vader! Good thing there's alcohol to numb oneself when needed! This reminds me of the glass-splinter my sister had in her arm for about half a year (she more or less punched through a glass-insert of the living room door) that would rip open the wound again every time she held it at a certein angle. Or a colleague of mine who tried to stomp an umbrella with the result of said umbrella punching a hole through his sneaker. He would then curl him up in a pub's toilet-box which he left behind as a slaughterhouse: blood everywhere and even some flesh he tore off the wound. We tried to clean up the mess as good as we could, given we only had toilet-paper to clean it, but it wasn't to the best possible results. Next customer must have thought who-knows-what... As for fingers at a weird angle...Who hasn't got at least one of these ^^? Either through volley- or handball. Proves even more how "sport is murder" ^^
  11. So yesterday evening I was cutting bread. Nothing spectacular so far, unless you consider the fact that I cut myself deeply from above (through the nail) into my left index finger spectacular. The surgeon I consulted today said that this would either a) hurt as hell but heal over time or b) the damaged tissue (and nearly the whole of my fingertip as well) would die off (alls this "turning black"-stuff >:-) ). So my latest semi-serious injury inspired me to this thread. Tell your forum-siblings of your most heavy and serious injuries, may it be a broken arm, a wisdom-tooth removed or a gunshot-wound right in the belly! Only the most gory details will suffice here *wacko* X-D :-X So come on folks ^^! PS: NO PUNS INVOLVING MY SCREEN NAME PLEASE ! :-P *wacko*
  12. Yeah, happy birthday to thee, SuvieDeee ^^ This rhymes and what rhymes is good. So enjoy your day. Cutty
  13. My brother-in-law used to play that before WoW was released (go figure ;-) ) and tried to explain it to me... I didn't really find it that great. As far as intergalactic conquest and expansion is concerned I prefer MoO2 above all else, though I might GalCivII a chance once it's released here. Ogame has some nice artwork though. That credit is due to mention.
  14. I say your daughter (how old, btw?) is very observant. Yet Lego could cure this lack of female fans (SheFOLs - Female Fans Of Lego... doesn't sound that good when I think about it...), when thyey'd just start releasing decent town sets with any other premise than action again. Or a Paradisa-Reborn as a City tie-in. Won't happen in my lifetime though...
  15. Linky linky I think the author pretty much figured the main incongruences in jedi philosophy that as always alienated me from their kind. And all of their pop-culture spawn-followers on all the internet boards. What do we learn from this? Being a Jedi is a silly thing to do. Even IF you can twirl around a lightsaber (which are cool without Jedi wielding them as well, see PSO!).

    Real Simpsons

    Nice! I love it ^^
  17. Even I'll complain about having too many LEGO themes! For almost the entirity of 80's there was only 3 SYSTEM themes - Space, Castle and Town (or does Train make 4?). Then Pirates joined in 89 and then Paradisa in 92. From 1994 onwards the number of themes exploded and their life span shortened, which from my perspective didn't seem like a brainwave because the 90's only yielded 3 decent themes (Western, Adventurers and Ninja) and a lot of garbage. Then we look at 2000 onwards. What decent themes have we had in this time period? Orient Expedition (arugably the final 2 years of Adventurers however), Vikings and the beloved Star Wars. Maybe Town or World City or whatever that has evolved into is alright, but I'm not familiar enough with the sets to make an assessment. Rather than having a short theme based on every thing imaginable I'd rather have a long established theme that I can follow. But The LEGO Company doesn't really care what I like, so expect to see more short half-arsed themes that go nowhere, and perhaps the occassional decent one that never gets a chance to go anywhere. Like Vikings for example. Fixed for emphasis! I did so "AMEN" to that! Indeed Lego should introduce sets that have the possibility to become classics. I cannot imagine anyone drooling over our current lines (KK2, E-F, Alpha T. aso.) in the years to come like people do with revered classic-castle or classic-space.
  18. Oh damn! I just over-read that...my bad, but thanks anyway christian.
  19. well seeing how the shelves are mostly well loaded with Vikings-wave1 I do not see them releasing the old sets alongside the newer ones again. Somehow I feel the market for Lego-Vikings is saturated. If they introduced another minifig-faction to the line, which they could market as well, I bet the line would hold itself a lot better. I do not know whether it's a good thing or not, but prices for the bigger Viking-sets are abou 10-15
  20. Sad thing about the 2 upcoming Viking sets is the fact that, though they are cool for those, who already own the first wave of sets, they might not be as interesting for consumers, who see these sets first. Seeing as they are more expensive than the little starters (Fenrir, Boat&Wyvern, which have a low cost threshold) and don't offer too much in return. The Dragon might appeal to a potential buyer, though there is the cost factor, and the man-pulled battle-machine just lacks something for instant play, as it is really just a convenient army builder for wave 1 people. In my opinion the line isn't going to be continued for long. If there is a new wave in 2007 I'd be more than happy (I have LOTS of ideas!!!) but I won't get my hopes up that soon...
  21. As for Arkham: I once heard the whole line is supposed to be vehicle driven, but why isn't there any vehicle (at least to my knowledge) mentioned for the Arkham Asylum? Some sort of getaway for the villains, or a small ride for Nightwing (Dick Grayson is a pro on motorbikes!) ?
  22. LOL that's easy! It's a go-kart ain't it? Just drive it all the way and deliver it ante portam to the buyer ^^
  23. Yeah, he comes over every now and then if there is something to complain about our little place! :-D But it has been a long time since the last time, hasn't it? ^^ I reckon CC isn't one of the best persons on the planet... sarcasm is a weapon of the weak...that's why I never mastered it. I am happy though, that there is a community like EB, which is so cool, that even teenage Ewoks get erections! Yub-Yub on! Cutty
