  1. I would rather have Lego give us someone for the vikings to trade with: Inuit, Arabians, Africans, Karolingans a.s.o. You know, they went far for just having improved fishing boats! And a generic norse village would be nice...but I guess one can not have everything :'( . As for the dragon discussion: They are quite nice. But not as nice as they could be if constructed out of standard Lego (Lego knows still how to do so! Designer line galore!). And as low as my interest for the HP line might be, I fear there will be something along the lines of the Viking dragons on schedule for the Hungarian Horntail. At least as far as the "wingedness" is concerned... Greetings, Cutty
  2. Thanks alot for the nice welcome! You guys are significantly nicer than those folks over at FBTB. Sure I didn't post that much there when I registered back on their OLD board, but ... I think you go figure. The atmosphere 'round here is much more pleasing I must say. And I never thought you had a "lack" of german members in this place...strange... For the record: What got me back out of my Lego-free time was indeed the announcement of a SW line. But as I grew older (and with the advent of Lucas' major screw ups of the OT...) that changed greatly. Right now I would say, that I am mostly a "semi-city/quarter-generic space/quarter-castle" person. Throw in a good load of inspiration coming from oldschool 8bit Nintendo games (hehe Megaman :-D ) and you got a pretty good overview of my Lego preference. Besides my definite liking for the whole new Designer line of course ;) ! So thanks again! Cutty
  3. I think the idea of releasing a historic line isn't that great. Why? Because on the one hand a kid that had to play with a toy portraying anything "historically correct" would very likely not have that much fun. And on the other hand would too much straying from historical correctness lead indeed to something that could best be described as "fantasy". Although the condition for a theme comprised of ancient myths (predominantly those concerning greek/mediterranean mythology) might be good, I can not see how TLC could manage to pull off historically correct renditions of say, greek hoplites, roman legionaires and the likes. Having Perseus ride Pegasus and slaying the Medusa or having Achilleus battle trojan armies would be neat, but I would much rather see "historic city life"... and I do NOT think that TLC could release a greek temple for instance without screwing it up ROYALLY (hence: constructing it entirely out of Bionicle-parts :'( ). My point is: just look at the upcoming Viking line. Though the sets are great for playing with them, they ultimately fail to portray historic norsemen life/society. So I'd say yes to a "Classic/Ancient Fantasy" line and give a big NO to anything that tries to portray history. Greetings, Cutty
  4. Hi fellow Euro-AFOLS! My humble name would be Cutty and I am from (yet Megablock free...) Germany. I am not quite new to this site (since I have been lurking for quite some time now ;) ) and very much appreciate the work of this community's staff. I hope we do get along well and perhaps make friends, although I fear I might not be posting that often. Exceptions will come along as soon as there's a fine reason to (=interesting off-topic discussion maybe :-D ). Greetings, Cutty
