  1. Of course minifigs can be sexy! Look at the German mechanic from Indy. Yummm! Joking apart: I suppose we're living in a time when "sexy" is a word that is used outside the realms of actual sex. Which is fine by me. Perhaps due to age or cultural differences, not everyone fully agrees with how appropriate a word "sexy" is in certain situations. Personally, it doesn't bother me. Let's all remember it's mostly jokey. (Also... Eurobricks is extremely well-behaved. You should read what some filmfans write on forums when either Megan Fox is involved - actual sexy - or when there's some really fast-paced, action oriented, fabulous special effects heavy movie coming out. Disturbing language for some, I bet.)
  2. If I understand correctly, you'd like to set up a sort of database of characters (and perhaps even locations), so different people here can add to one online LEGO Discworld 'universe' which will then look somewhat consistent? That's a great idea. Might be a tad difficult to achieve, but I'm all for trying. On a related note: I've noticed you can buy red wizard hats on Bricklink. I've never seen a set or minifig with one, though. So... is the red wizard hat an official, rare part? Or what's it's story? (I'm asking 'cause it'll look good on Rincewind, but I'm not hooked on the notion of buying unofficial LEGO.)
  3. Batman in 2010? I thought that discussion was over and that the Batman line had been proclaimed dead a while ago... As for Avatar... TLC doesn't seem eager to renew licences once they've ended. Look at Spider-Man. Still, I suppose it is a possibilty. Unlikely though it may be.
  4. It seems less logical that they'd sell bits to LEGO and other bits to MegaBloks. So sure, they'll never tell TLC "Oh, do whatever you like, if you feel like making a Snow White set - do as you please!" But generally speaking, I think the option for TLC to make sets based on whatever Disney 'thing' is open. (TLC might think of something and then they need to run it past Disney. Many conversations later, we might see a Snow White set. Or a Space Mountain one. Or neither. )
  5. Was he knighted? Fabulous news! Excellent. Discworld is an amazing series, I hope to see many MOCs from fans. No school for me this week, so I might (might!) be able to put something small together...
  6. pr0visorak - Yes, Megabloks did have the PotC licence. I have some sets as well (bloodybricksthatdon'tfittogetherbutohhowgoodlittlejohnnylooks!). The thing about this recent news is: TLC now has the Disney licence. Which if I understand correctly, means everything and anything that Disney does. So, technically, ranging from Snow White to Prince of Persia to, say, High School Musical. And PotC. Possibly. Hopefully. Please?
  7. The only thing I don't like... is the hair colour for the ladies. What the heck is up with that light yellow? Why not tan? Looks far more natural. (And, for the yellow-faced purists: tan combines a lot better with classic LEGO minifig faces.)
  8. A Pirates of the Caribbean line would make me as insanely giddy as the Indy line does. I love, love, love the first Pirates film. Minifig Jack Sparrow would be utterly brilliant. As for interfering with the new LEGO Pirates line... If TLC releases the Disney set under one DISNEY line banner, they can get away with only making, like, three or four PotC sets. The tone of the films is - in my view - vastly different from that of the current LEGO Pirates line, so it should not be a problem. But eh. I think LEGO PotC is too much to hope for. If it gets real, I'll be the first to celebrate wildly. But... I don't see it happen.
  9. Oh my... TLC really are going all-out for the 10th Anniversary, aren't they? Even the "extra" characters on Endor are getting a cool individual face. Palpy is looking fun, though I'm still not sold on the CW look. What's with his cape? If this is a step closer to different kinds of capes, I hope TLC does a trenchcoat soon. (Which taps into SW, actually... didn't Han sport one on Endor?) Ackbar is looking fantaaaastic! Awesome set, the AT-OT. Though considering I'm more of a minifig man as opposed to vehicles, I'm passing on this one. But it might be the coolest set ever for SW vehicle aficionados?
  10. Woohoo, Prince of Persia! I remember playing the original on a very noisy, big ol' Apple... Am I getting old? Alfred Molina is going for the Most Minifigurized Actor Ever award, apparently. Quick, Harrison, make another big movie that TLC would want to pick up on! Anyway... Loads of potential here. I'm giddy as a schoolboy about all this. TLC and Disney, sitting in a tree! Yay! If TLC handles this one properly, we may yet see a tiny Johnny Depp walking the plank sometime. That'd be soooooo cool! Or going back to the classics. Minifig Robin Hood? Brilliance! I really hope that'll happen one day. Until that time, Prince of Persia and Toy Story sound kick-@$$ too! Bring on 2010! (Jeesh, 2009 only just begun!)
  11. Pretty much agreeing with Batbrick on these. EXCELLENT stuff on the new Indy's, Kazim (brotherhood), Elsa, Cairo fighters, Mola Ram... with the two sets last month, 2009 might already stand a good chance of being the Best LEGO Indy Year ever!? So, we got the Ark, golden idol and crystal skulls in last years sets... Now we're getting the Sankara (sp?) stones... All we need is the remains of Nurhachi (sp?), the cross of Coronado and the Holy Grail and we'll have all the major artefacts Indy's looking for in the films. Along with those artefacts, the only things I'm still really missing are Sallah, Marcus, Donovan and the grail knight. Well... maybe a dark green / dark bluish green notzi uniform. I'm tired of those tan ones. If TLC give us those next year, they can just about wrap the licence up in three years, haha. (Which might be a good thing... We're still getting new Star Wars, but that's a miracle. No other licence has lived that long.)
  12. As others have said: funny stuff! Poor fellow. Caught between - what's the expression? A fire and a hot place? "This isn't the smuggler you are looking for!"
  13. Valentine's Day + pirates = "We wants the redhead!" Though I guess yours is a piratey way of celebrating 14 February as well, haha. Simple yet effective. Good idea with the feathers and ink pot.
  14. Wow, looks like an amazing ship under construction. You'll take pictures of every detail once it's finished, right? Oh, and... Lovely damsell on the wall, too.
  15. Wow, TWO Mon Calamari? Nice! And Crix Madine! Never imagined he'd turn up in a LEGO set. Awesome! Mon Mothma... What hair is that? Umbridge? We'll see. Looking interesting, but to me a little less WOW! than Ackbar and Madine. Looks like a fantastic set. Always nice to see Lando show his face in a set. Death Star hologram! Green A-wing! Ackbar! Madine! Extra Mon Calamari!
  16. Congratulations to those with a fancy new title! Now, where be the celebratory rum?
  17. Ahhh, Vercingetorix! Abraracourcix would be proud of you, sir. Nice little vignettes. Liked your history of Britain as well. Sounds like it could be an endless series, hehe. I'm curious to see which countries you'll be diving in next.
  18. Very interesting indeed. Though there might be a shadow hanging over a possible Tintin licence already: un-uniqueness. Both the old Adventurers and the new Indiana Jones themes cover more or less the same ground as Tintin. Hergé characters should translate very well to minifigs and there are many cool vehicles to be made. But... is it unique enough for TLC? That, I'm not too sure about.
  19. Heh, never knew they had such different names. Remind me please... was there Dutch printing on the boxes? Or did those "alternative" set titles appear in catalogues only? I remember playing with classic Pirates, but I was a tad too young to remember the actual names.
  20. Hehe nice one Huntley, Da Vinci Code LEGO. We'd get the Dooku hair in black for professor Langdon, then. Let's face it: it IS possible. TLC is obsessing with vehicles, so: - Langdon & Sophie in the armoured bank vehicle (with bank owner) - Sophie in her Smart versus a police car (maybe with Fache?) - Leigh Teabing in his plane (with Remy) - Silas in his sleek car (maybe with Aringarosa?) And, also: I'd looove a James Bond theme. More than enough iconic vehicles to produce! Villains and heroes shouldn't be too hard to make with the already available suits and hairpieces. Minifig Xenia Onatopp, anyone? Gladiator - who knows, you might get your wish. TLC and Spielberg seem to be buddies (Studios, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones).
  21. The weirdest thing about all this is... "Why?" TLC apparently already produced a bunch of brown versions, so why change it halfway? Can't be for cheaping out, right? I mean - they DID a slew of brownies. And everybody likes brownies. We want brownies!
  22. Wow, those prices are pretty low. Thanks for the info, Bricks! Maybe I'm used to overpriced licence sets, but this sounds like a very affordable theme to me. Yay! (and, also: that orange alien, whatever his name is, kicks seven kinds of behind!)
  23. For minifig aficionados like me, TLC couldn't have put together a better collection of Clone Wars magnets! Cartoony Yoda, bad@$$ Mace and The Dude With The Best Hair Since, Well Uhm CW Anakin... CW Dooku! Three awesome figs for 10 euros! Yahoo! And high-five for the guy who decided magnet figs should be proper figs on magnet bricks instead of figs with magnet legs and glued torsos! Are those too many exclamation marks? (!)
  24. The bad granddaddy of bloody loud music:
  25. Thanks for all the comments, still! Round 371: The Last Doctor* and a slew of companions All of Ten's companions. Rose, Jack, Sarah Jane, Martha and Donna Martha is looking quite angry, but hey... TLC won't give us a proper, dark-skinned female face! In the category "Variations on an alien", here's a slightly different Ood (new suit)... ...and here's a slightly different Master (new face, hair and screwdriver colour) And now for the category "Variations on the Doctor", starting chronologically with #2 (new face, shorter legs) #8 (new hair and torso - I'm still not happy with this fellow, though) Jumping to #10 in the Impossible Planet / Satan Pit spacesuit * FINALLY! A word that can be read two ways: "to end this post with" or "at long last". To end this post with, I present you the one incarnation of the Doctor that I hadn't yet tried to make... My last Doctor... At long last, here is the Seventh Doctor as played by Sylvester McCoy, with his faithful companion Ace as played by Sophie Aldred.
