You better believe it. Apart from the impulse figs, I haven't seen any Pirate sets here in the Netherlands. Oh well, they were slow with the Troll Fort (Castle) and the first waves of Indy as well. Some day we'll be in step with the rest of the world...

Wow, big! Big ships, big diorama, big everything. I seem to remember seeing something similar at Arsenaal in Vlissingen. That was years ago though. Gorgeous ships. Fitting for a Golden Age.

Hmpf. *gives CopMike a foul look* What would you do if you wanted a white Fabuland fig and without warning, you found TLC put a grey one in your set? The grey mustache thing wouldn't bother me at all, IF there wouldn't be a brown one pictured on the box. Mkay. Now I'm obsessing over a toy AND sounding like a leatherboy. Must get out of the danger zone...

Ghehe agreed Oky Wan, Han could use a facial makeover. As could Luke and Leia, if you ask me. Well maybe not Luke, but Leia and Han definitely. The Emperor, R2 and even old Ben got a facelift. Other than that... I'm not spotting the point of this topic either, really.

Close, but no cigar. LEGO isn't Dutch, but Danish. If it were Dutch, it would be the pride of my nation! Well, along with Philips electronica and actor Rutger Hauer. On topic: cool MOC! Fabulous figs, too. I wonder... do you have a white turban, perhaps? I'm curious how your Piccolo would look with one.

AAAAAAAAArrrrrrrrrriba! Gorgeous! GOR-GEOUS! GAWJUS!!! Loving the Cairo, Venice and Temple sets. The cemetary and planes don't make me jump, but the other three sets more than make up for that. Actually - it's a good thing I don't want ALL the sets. That'd get pricey. Definitely gonna buy Cairo and Venice, but I'm kind of waiting for TLC to put a price tag on Temple of Doom. It doesn't seem as elaborate as the Idol or Akator set... or am I mistaken?
-
LEGO definitely isn't a cheap toy, no. I don't think your opinion is wrong. Some would argue an opinion can't be wrong per definition. And you're our Royal Picture Provider, I like you. Judging by that Doom box art... Indy, Willie, Short and THREE other figs?! Mola Ram, Thuggee... and? Thuggee 2? Lil' maharaja? Looking good!
-
Are you sure about the price? Because the "new blond hair" comment is kind of weird. Elsa will not be in the plane set. The wasn't in that scene. Some person at this toy fair put her in there, but that seems like a complete error. As for the "poison arrow weapon" in the graveyard set... Won't that just be a reddish brown lightsaber blade? Not to kill anyone's mood here, but let's be realistic. (And remain unconfused by toy fair expositions that mix up figs and sets.)
-
So far I'm counting one new Willie and one new Elsa (this year). Are you betting on a new Marion in the Cairo set and another Willie in the Temple of Doom?
-
Fine choice of nationality for yer pirates! As for the MOC... Brilliant, fantastic, smart, well designed, loving the original ideas and new combinations... All clichés when commenting on your work, but all true.
-
If they do bring back the Spanish looking fellows some day, I wish the helmets would be... what's the term... flat silver? The same colour as the Castle helmets, swords and spears these days. Spaniards or not, I'm just happy the Pirates line is back. And in fine shape! Flashy looking coats, fiery red soldier uniforms, even a pirate babe: it's all back. Fan-bloody-tastic.
-
Loving the Elsa hair. Not won over by the fez yet, but I would need to see it in real life to judge properly. Looks like a lot of smart design and awesome figs are headed our way once more. Thanks TLC for making Indy such a great line!

My guess would be that this cobbled together thing represents what isn't there yet: a new alien head mold. But maybe that's wishful thinking.
-
The word "Squidman" and the prelim pics so far seem to say: new molds for alien heads. If that's true, I'd be... well, over the moon. And yeah, the Space fans are even more curious for the Toy Fair than any other LEGO group this year. Wile I haven't been a spacer since the insectoids (and I'm probably even using the wrong name here), this Space Police III concept caught my interest. February ON! (Sorry, I'm already nostalgic for the ON!-signoffs that were all the fasion last year)

They're not gonna give us the brown version? Duuude! That's meeaan... The poor b**tard looked so good with a brown mustache. It would've been fun to have the guy in brown. Looks more like the German mechanic and it'd work in vig or diorama - as the younger self of the grey mustache man. Okay, so I've just posted something about "being adult" and "it's a toy" in another thread, but... BOO! I want the brown mustache head!

You have been told you also have the right to just not buy the sets you don't like, right? TLC gave us Knight's Kingdom. No one else. TLC. That's getting a bit personal, isn't it? No need to have at people like that. As for TLC "just" releasing Castle sets... A lot of time, effort and creativity went into designing those KK sets. No less than in any Castle line before or after it, I bet. TLC is not the kind of company to aim for mediocricy. They, like you, want to have a great product line that will sell very well. Unfortunately, KK was not the big hit they hoped for. C'est la vie. Even Steven Spielberg makes less fantastic films sometimes. In my opinion this latest Castle line is great. With each year, TLC is gradually expanding the world of this Castle era, and I for one absolutely love that. Sure, some sets appeal to me more than others. I've developed a rather effective technique of coping with that, though. I buy the sets I like and I leave the rest for those with slightly different preferences. LEGO is a toy. Let's keep a normal perspective.

LEGO Doctor Who minifigs by Mr Spielbrick
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mr Spielbrick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thank you all for the kind praise, constructive critisism and useful suggestions! This thread now has 100 replies. It's always fun to get that much attention, both for my creations and for Doctor Who in general. And since it's the 100th reply, I thought it was about time for something special. Wellll, unusual. Wellll, for me. After a series of Doctor Who minifigs, I give you... my LEGO TARDIS: I hope you'll keep coming back to see new additions and changes to existing models. Comments still are and always will be welcome! -
You think SW will turn into CW? I hope not... Either next year or 2011 should see the start of a new live action tv series, based on secondary characters from the SW universe. It's said to take place between III and IV. Now, I'm not sure when exactly... But even if they start right after III, sooner or later they'll be nearing the IV - V - VI aesthetic. Which gives me hope that not all new sets will be PT / CW related. IF the licence is renewed at all, that is... Anyway, that's for the 2011 Picture and Rumour Topic. Now for 2009: The new new pictures (CW sets) are miles away from making me jump in my chair like the Endor and Hoth sets. The Separatist Shuttle is the only one that looks cool to me. And that's probably because it was in III and because it's still unclear which figs come with it. The umpteenth Anakin / Ahsoka set (two jedi starfighters, the Twilight and now another chance to get these two?!) doesn't excite me one bit. The Venator looks kind of cool, but the fig selection seems a bit meagre. As for the jetpack clones... Meh. We got our battlebacks this month, no need for more in my opinion. Bring on the absolutely gorgeously wonderfully Mother of All Battlepacks HOTH and the even absoluter gorgeouser wonderfuller Mother of All Location-Based Playsets ENDOR!

It's almost tempting to put a lock on this thread until further information is... well, what needs to be done? Does TLC have to issue an official statement? Dudes and dudettes, listen up: - The vehicles in the pics are from Hyperspace Pursuit. FACT. Do not argue, please. - The alien, as great as he is looking, is NOT -let me repeat that: NOT- Squidman. Okay, I need to change my tone before someone with authority's gonna slap me for back seat driving. Anyway, great scoop mania3, thanks for the pics and here's hoping we'll be seeing a lot more of this promising line soon!
-
Excellent find, Morgan! Many, mnay thanks! The sets look even better than I hoped for. I gotta get me at least three Echo Bases! And that Endor set is pure brilliance! I've got the two "old" Ewoks, but these new furballs look utterly amazing. Much more detail! YAY: - Endor rebels - Endor Leia - same R2 as in Death Star (which was too expensive for me) - classic Han (which I still haven't got - shame on me) - gorgeous new Ewok paintjobs! - relatively cheap Hoth "battle pack" - snowtroopers (until now they only came in big expensive sets) - TAUNTAUN! Like everyone here, I knew these sets were coming. But man oh man, the surpass my wildest dreams - and then some!

LEGO Doctor Who minifigs by Mr Spielbrick
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mr Spielbrick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Time for some classic Doctors, I reckon. (You're growing classic Docs like corn, Hewkii, so I couldn't stay behind!) In chronological order. Two versions of Pertwee. Davison once more, with longer hair. If only Anakin's clone wars hair came in (dark?) tan... And then on to my first attempt at recreating Colin Baker's sixth Doctor. Rounding things off this time is Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart a.k.a. Sir Alistair, in his UNIT days. -
Haha, I didn't say that. I've no idea what the impulse thingy even looks like. Would be fun if it looks like the Doctor Who K9, but I'm not expecting anything. Let the set itself do the talking when we get pics.
-
"K-9 Bot"? Sounds a bit Doctor Who... Grand idea to release impulse sets of this new theme. Makes it available in all price categories, which is a smart move with something new. Yay!
-
While I love Star Wars, I never got into the original LEGO Space themes. Now it looks like I'll finally be won over! It has some Torchwood-like badassness about it. Niiice! Bring on Space Police

New girl straight hairpiece? Are there any pics of that available? I went on a little search after reading your post, but I'm no Indy and digging in the sand got me... nowhere. Also, to stay closer on topic: an Elsa minifig would make sense for a Venice boat chase set, absolutely. Plus Indy in grey costume plus at least one member of the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword (was that the name?). But that got me thinking - THREE new figs in one set? Surely not...? I mean, Indy is a relatively new line, so lots of new figs are to be expected. But three in one set seems to be pushing it, since we already got the German mechanic, Short Round, Willie Scott, two Lao Che henchmen and an alternative Indy this year. Or maybe I'm pessimistic. EDIT: I found a blurry pic of the camper set somewhere. You've seen a clear version of the pic, since you call it a new hairpiece? It seems to me the blurry pic hardly shows enough to be sure it's a new piece. (Not that I don't believe you. You just seem to have access to other - better - sources than I do. Which is of course possible. Not stepping on any toes here!)
