  1. Cool creation! I only saw the original film for the first time this morning. It must've been jawdroppingly awesome 27 years ago. Today some of it looks a little dated, but it's still a good film. Great cast and actually a deeper layer in there. Not just CGI spectacle. Cool. I'm curious for TRON: LEGACY!
  2. Yep, modern Daleks are nigh impossible, colourscheme-wise. As for your creations so far - wow! Cheating a bit with the 'headlights' there, from a purist point of view, but still... gorgeous design. Probably the best minifig sized Dalek design there is. Davros as you made him has an Insectoid head indeed. Good idea. When I thought of making him, I kept thinking of the new Emperor Palpatine face with something holding a blue round stud on top. One day perhaps. Your Dalek base for Davros is, again, the best there is I think. As for the Ood question... I tried the Bib Fortuna face. Wound up looking like this. Welcome to the League of Eurobricks Whovians. (Me, Hewkii, Doctor Sinister and if memory serves Brainbox have taken shots at Lego Daleks and Doctors too.)
  3. Whew... This could become an interesting discussion! Basically, LEGO purism means to me: using only what The LEGO Company has created/sold, without tampering with it (brasso etc). So elastic bands and sails fit into the purist kingdom. Even Technic, Bionicle, Duplo (I guess) and Galidor. Personally I only use LEGO System stuff. As for the "rules"... It's a toy, there are no rules! Just because I prefer to work with LEGO System bricks and figs, doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing custom made figs. There are some extremely talented people out there who create lovely work. Half the time it looks even better than what TLC themselves make. I suck at customising, so I myself don't attempt it and stick to "official" stuff for my own creations.
  4. Just wondering... In these Vintage Minifig Collections, no old colours are used, correct? The grey parts have been replaced with bluish grey parts, Bricklink tells me. What does this mean for the Forestman's hat? You guys think it'll be reddish brown (or dark brown)? I can see why some older fans would be cursing a decision like that, but I'd love it. Call me an uber-purist, but with the introduction of new greys and browns, I find I never use the old grey parts anymore. So a Forestman hat in reddish (or dark) brown... yum! Can anyone please tell me if that's the reality for this new set?
  5. This week has, for some of us, been all about the new new new Doctor: Matt Smith. The first photos of him in costume, filming series 5, appeared online Monday. His companion is Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan. Let's see the actual pics with SPOILERS for series 5 (thanks for the link, Hewkii) On to possible LEGO versions. First up, three options for Matt Smith's eleventh Doctor. This torso comes closest, but... I don't own it! Until I get it from Bricklink, I went for Hewkii's suggestion of Prof Jones's torso. The hair and face are a wait and see I suppose. 1: 2: 3: Amy Pond: Constructive comments, enthusiastic worshipping and, just this once, some slapping for creating a fig that doesn't resemble Matt Smith at all, are welcome.
  6. The Prince of Persia figs do look awesome, eh? A nice variety of flesh faces and fan-tas-tic costumes. Why some are declaring Indy dead though, is beyond me. Surely we'd have heard official news by now if that was the case. Space and Star Wars have coexisted for 10 years, why not Indy and Persia? More to the point: Persia seems like a one-off à la Speed Racer to me. Big mistake to kill a long-running licence in favour of a one-off. Right? I'd say Indy fans needn't worry. And then there's the glorious ostriche and camel! Woohoo! Betting has already begun they'll be all the rage in summer 2010 MOCs. Clever how the ostriche has 2x2 studs on its back. Let the ostriche races begin, hehehe. Also lovely for a LEGO zoo, as someone pointed out in a Flickr comment. I remember playing the original game on an ancient computer... And now there's a fabulous LEGO line made out of the movie. Cool!
  7. Continuing the ever-expanding purist minifig world of old and new Doctor Who... Martha Jones (almost completely different to my previous Martha - only the hair and hands remain the same!) 8th Doctor (again, verrry different from last time) And rounding things up for today: the original, revised. William Hartnell's first Doctor, whose stories I've started to watch recently. He played the Doctor wonderfully! Freaky fact for this fig: the Lego face is that of Tarkin, played by Peter Cushing, who played another version of 'Doctor Who' in the films from the 1960's. And the hair is Dooku's / sir Christopher Lee's, a good friend of the late, great Cushing. The jacket is Alfred's from Batman, a role played in the '89 film by Michael Gough - like Cushing and Lee, an actor known for Hammer horror movies.
  8. Oooh, quite the battlepack! And a rather handsome little game as well. Mind you, no idea how the game would work... But those heads look fantastic! The pumpkin is a wonderful balance between the Harry Potter one and the Batman one. That red face is pure devil - excellent! Can't see the brown one properly, but it seems to look equally fabulous. Anyone know when it's coming out (specifically in the Netherlands)?
  9. What with the Indy fear? Surely there's lots more to dream up in that area. Young Indy train, Belloq car, Vogel tank... And that's restricting it to just vehicles. Which I think is nonsense - look at the treasure room from Raiders, the Crystal Skull graveyard (mkay, that one has a bike), the Raiders market place... On the Ben 10 topic. If it's minifig sized, let's not get our hopes up for new hair. Ben looks remarkably like CW Anakin, coiffe-wise. The RV looks cool. The aliens look interesting. TLC probably won't go Galidor on us twice. So heck yes, can't wait for the first pics!
  10. Ooh, very interesting project! Looks like you're already on the right path with the actual build. And the map seems pretty accurate if I had to guess. Have you seen JK Rowling's own map? I believe they briefly show it in an extra feature on the Prisoner of Azkaban dvd.
  11. If it says "alien" in the title, I'm all for it. Great to see TLC doing a lot of licences. Here's hoping they'll be fleshie and non-CW-headed. Though I must admit the animation style looks like it might well go CWesque... Ugh. But, let's not jump to conclusion. New licence + something with aliens = hell yeah!
  12. While I don't at all expect TLC to renew the licence, I doubt the argument of the last films being "too dark" really holds. They've made sets for all the films thus far. What's worse in books 6 and 7 than what we've already seen? Death on a larger scale perhaps, but (beloved) characters have died in books/films 4 and 5, too. Speaking of "too dark" - the Jedi and Sith from Star Wars are lightsaberhappy arm-cutter-offers and force-choking, lightning-bolting baddies. Not to mention the heartripping-and-barbecueing practices of Indy's good old Mola Ram. Harry Potter is nowhere near as sadistic as those franchises. In Potterworld, most people die by wand - no blood or guts at all! Not to place Potter above Star Wars or Indy, I love all three themes, but seriously... "Too dark"? No way, man.
  13. Well, the graphics don't look too impressive... But everything else certainly does! Lego Harry, yay. It's been ages. They're probably not gonna release new sets, but at least we get a Lego Potter fix. Here's hoping they use that theme music in the actual game. So iconic. And fun to see what all the characters would have looked like that never got made or never got fleshified.
  14. Looks cool. Fleshies, huh? Nice... I hope they make some figs like this for real sets. The only thing is - the instruments aren't brickbuilt. So that doesn't do much for the hope of actual sets. Ah well. Wait and see, I guess. Passing on the game though, but only 'cause I'm not a gamer at all - it still looks cool.
  15. KimT's link works just fine for me, actually. Cool collection. It just made me notice... Palpy's new hair is tan? Awesome!
  16. "Surreal, but nice" as the great Richard Curtis once wrote. Somehow by the title I guessed it was a Nadroj creation. Points for style, sir!
  17. Haha, no I know there's no Actors Guild here. Just my apparently less succesful attempt at humourously putting: I'm available for voice work for Brickfilms should a maker ever deem my voice appropriate. Which he can't know if he's never heard it. Hmm. Might be useful to put a little clip on my YouTube Channel. Anywobbles, awesome animation! (Ah, alliteration, alliteration!)
  18. Just an open question, not to be interpreted any way but neutral: why host a forum if you don't want to hear other opinions? As for the poster. Looks cool. Sure, it doesn't have all the minifigs, but it'd look mighty fine on any LEGO fan's wall, I'm sure. Annoying that it's only for Americans, but there'll be loads of people putting theirs on eBay or BrickLink. Personally, I would've preferred something else to celebrate the birthday, but I'm being served with the Home One and indeed the book with exclusive minifig. All in all, very cool of TLC to treat us to a line-up of wonderful sets and extra stuff for this anniversary.
  19. Now if only they made cutlasses in black... Or that metallic silver thingy. Arrr, we wants shiny weapons! The black epaulettes are classy, I think. All the options mentioned so far sound interesting. Perhaps they'd fit a rich character who isn't a pirate or government-related? Say, a wealthy merchant? (That, or on Black Pearl... No, not the ship! A sexy female pirate. Heh.)
  20. Wow, impressive! The music is quicky becoming The Only Pirate Music There Is, apparently. Admitted, Hans Zimmer did a great job (as did the legion of composers working on the first film) but maaaybe a more original score choice next time? Ah well, why am I putting salt on such a minor slug. It fits the film. Go for it! Of course, the animation is mind-blowing, so many compliments to the maker! (Also... Where does one sign up for the Eurobricks Voice Actors Guild? It'd be jolly fun to provide a voice-over for a brickfilm.)
  21. Bubble bursted. I was assuming he did know something we don't. With the wink and all. Cause they sure looked like ancient pirates to me. Apart from Redbeard's colour that is. I have heaps of the ol' rascal right here... In classy, classic black. Would've been nice to see him return with a new torso though. Oh well.
  22. Thanks to all those who explained where the red hat is from. Counts as official, then, eh! Good news indeed. L-space... are you going for yellow or fleshe figs? Or perhaps two options, so people can choose their preferred, uhm, "skintone"? I saw your Band with Rocks In MOC, they look good!
  23. Redbeard is coming back?! Gorgeous torso in red. And a maiden, eh? I feel a change in the wind...
  24. Using my 300th post (thank you thank you, you're too kind!) to shed some light here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/no_onions/3282710950/sizes/m/ for those of you with a Flickr account. Same face as Willie, except with a black curve on the bottom of the upper lip, used in this picture as the face of Marion in the new Cairo set.
  25. Looks nice. What's weird though: it doesn't have anything in common with the current Pirates line, other than the name. Is this a re-release?
