LEGO Doctor Who minifigs by Mr Spielbrick
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mr Spielbrick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
You're right about the pink-with-cats, svelte corps, but it's the only pink top I've got. For some reason I got the "Bad Wolf" Rose in my head when I made the fig, hence the pinkness. For the fourth series version of Rose, Jackie's torso fits better (ergo, I will change it soon). Speaking of Bad Wolf... Does this version please the fans of captain Jack Harkness? -
What Indiana Jones minifigures should TLC make
Mr Spielbrick replied to Doris's topic in LEGO Licensed
Actually, "Steve" is a pretty sweet idea! We should have one Behind the Scenes Set with a minifig Spielberg and a minifig Lucas. That'd be totally awesome! But yeah, what everyone says: Sallah, Brody, a better Belloq.... Everyone that's been mentioned, really. -
Yeah, I saw the pics on Flickr... And maaaaaaaaan does that thing look sweeeeeeeeet! All those figs! All those iconic scenes! All in one set! Either I die, or my bank account does. So. Effing. Hard. To. Resist. Buying. This. JEWEL!!!!! (Do excuse me for the temporal state of reduced brain activity that caused my spelling and interpunction skills to plummet. But I think this set proves that God, Allah, Zeus and all other deities actually exist. )

Changing avatars always causes me difficulties, so I thought I'd get myself a new sig... Nice designs, iamded! Not using an Indy avatar yourself though?

4750 Draco's Encounter with Buckbeak Review
Mr Spielbrick replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
Ohhh great idea to review the "old" Potter sets! Especially the line from Prisoner of Azkaban... I was in my Dark Ages then. Luckily I was able to catch up on the missed figs with one internet order. This Draco is the best TLC has made, if you ask me. The new one (also doubling for Belloq and "guards" in the Indy line) doesn't look quite as hautain as this one. Buckbeak looks cool. Looks like his neck/head can be moved, right? Rather similar to LEGO horses. Well designed. The orange brick doesn't have a pumpkin face on it, right? Unlike the one from Philosopher's Stone in the set with the troll. I'm looking forward to more reviews by you, sir WhiteFang! Good work -
LEGO Doctor Who minifigs by Mr Spielbrick

My old Rose had Jackie's head: ... but I think it makes Rose look a little, well, dumb. New fig: my first attempt at the Doctor as played by Paul McGann in the English / American movie, The Enemy Within: -

The Tennant torso (gotta love alliteration!) is this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb226c01 Oh and hewkii9, if you can give me a good idea for Martha's face, I'm open to it! Tough combination in LEGO form: black and female. Not many of those. Probably even none... -
LEGO Doctor Who minifigs by Mr Spielbrick
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mr Spielbrick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
None of the parts I use are customs. Everything's official. My tenth Doctor (pictured below, did you mean him?) has the torso and legs of the Harry Osborn minifig from the Spider-Man 2 line. And now... Fiiiinally I can present to you all the designs for 9 and 10 that I've been planning for months. Only today did I get Jungle Duel in the mail and I immediately split Mutt Williams into Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. Christopher Eccleston's ninth Doctor David Tennant's tenth Doctor (oh, how I'd kill for a minifig trenchcoat...!) Passing along the sonic screwdriver: the Doctor's latest two incarnations in one pic In the pipeline at the moment: a better Rose Tyler, a better Jack Harkness, Jackie Tyler, the TARDIS from the outside and a Silence in the Library vignette. -
Adding the kid would be copying that film a bit. And from what I've heard, it's not the best source to copy from. Mostly a cheap excuse to fire 3D-effects at the audience (though I cannot confirm this of course). On topic: the figs look marvellous, Sir Nadroj! Each individually is well-designed AND they all fit together, which is hard to pull off. Looking forward to the first proper installment.

Thanks to all for the reactions! Makes it worthwhile to keep doing more. Nostalgia time! At least, for those who were around in the seventies and eighties. I've created the fifth and re-created the third Doctor. Peter Davison's fifth Doctor Jon Pertwee's third Doctor (my second version of him: new old face + dandier costume) I hope the frequent visitors of this topic noticed the location change... I myself did not, at first! My third version of the ninth Doctor (anyone still keeping track of all the numbers?) is due soon. When my internet order finally comes in, that is... EDIT: just givin' you two more versions of Peter Davison to choose from. -
I understand the complaints about weird stuff in the sets but... It seems to me that with all four sets, you can recreate a better River Chase and scenes TLC didn't make sets of. 1.) Take the conquistadore skeleton from the Temple and put him behind only the 'building' from Jungle Cutter. Suddenly that combination begins to look like the Cradle of Ordellano (what was his name?!), don't you agree? 2.) Take from Jungle Duel Mutt and Irina with their two sabers, put Mutt in Indy's & Marion's vehicle from River Chase and add the Russian vehicle from the Temple set. Wouldn't that be a fair representation of the river chase from the film? 3.) The whole ant thing was basically Dovchenko versus Indy in a Pat Roachian two-fight, right? So just take an Indy from any set, add Dovchenko and all the ants from the various sets and voilà: there's your Fight Amidst The Ants set! As for missing Oxley and Mac... Isn't this just the first wave? TLC must've spent good money on this licence, so we can just wait until Oxley and Mac show up in a next wave. The same probably goes for Sallah, Marcus, Elsa, Willie, Short Round... The REAL question to me is why even bother to make the airplane in the Exclusive set. It showed up for like 10 seconds during the map travelling scene. C'mon, there must've been a better idea for an Exclusive...?! About the film: What the heck happened? Who brainwashed Spielberg? From Lucas I've come to expect anything, but seriously... Aliens in an Indy film? I know, I know: the Ark's powers and Mola Ram's heart-grabbing magic and a dude surviving for 700 years and just some water that miraculously heals you are all fairly wild. But they pale next to 13 alien skeleton merging into one fully-fleshed live effing alien who then opens an effing interdimensional effing portal! That's basically going as far as showing God in Raiders or Last Crusade would be. What I loved about those films is that they didn't. Sure, the artefacts have supernatural powers. But there remains a sense of mystery. It's never explained what exactly happened or where the artefact really comes from (the film's theory is it comes from God, but at least God doesn't jump down from a cloud to give the baddies a foul look, which is pretty much exactly what the alien in film 4 does). Plus, to me, Indy 4 is on too large a scale. Indy's 1, 2 and 3 looked mostly like it could happen because back then, the filmmakers were far more bound to physical stunts and effects than they are now. Today the can launch a truck over another car, smashing it in half while the people inside comfortably don't have a scratch. Or they can catapult a fridge over a huge cloud with, again, the protagonist walking out as if nothing just happened. Back in the eighties, they couldn't do such crazy things. And that made the movies so much better for me. I can believe the fights and stunts in the original trilogy, because they largely were actually real. Part 4 throws any realism overboard in the fights and stunts and most insulting of all: when the flippin' flying dish comes out of the ground, causing half the flippin' mountain to flippin' colapse. Gah... Well, that's what would happen in a film were Indy thinks he's Han Solo. He literally said "I have a bad feeling about this." !!! If he said that as a salute to Star Wars in another Indy film, I would've laughed. Now it's just an indication to me of what the filmmakers were thinking: let's pile up all that we're good at and throw it in this film. The result? An exciting movie (yes, I actually think it's well-paced, cool, funny, a rockin' rollercoasterride) but not an Indiana Jones film.

Hmm... The new torso's? Cool! The new aliens? Awesome! Anakin's hair? Yeah baby yeah! Anakin's face? Still: nice. But they messed up Obi-Wan if you ask me. Heck, I love the new aliens, torso's, hairpieces and clones. But something about the faces (yes, plural) doesn't click with me. Sorry. Tried to love 'em. Got quite far with Anakin's, actually. But meh. I still need (and prefer) the normal Episode III faces for Ani and Obi (I got the headset versions, somewhat annoying).

Off-topic, in terms of pirates returning: so far there are pirate swords (Jungle duel), an armada-style helmet (Crystal skull temple) and a monkey (Grand prix) in production. All they need to do is dream up some new faces and torso's and we got ourselves a new Pirate theme! Slightly more on-topic: my Jungle duel should be coming in about a week. Yay! (Had to order it online cause it's not for sale in my country, halfwittedscruffylookingnerfherderswhodecidedthatdammit....)

A poll to decide a star wars set for february 2009
Mr Spielbrick replied to darkrebellion's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Argh! The dilemma! I don't need another Slave I, so option 2 is out for me. But 1 and 3 sound good... Ackbar, woop woop! (Did I actually type that...?) But that would be one new fig. And option 1 brings Palpatine!!! Mace!!! Kit Fisto!!! Cool otherworldian jedi!!! I'll pass up on the chance of Ackbar for the chance of multiple cool (creature) jedi. So I voted for option 1. -
Yeah, Jungle Duel is VERY hard to come by in the Netherlands. However, I placed my order of it at www.2ttoys.nl In response, they sent me an e-mail, saying they're expecting to get the set in 2 weeks. After that time, they should be able to send it to me. € 13,- plus € 7,50 in shipping costs.

Should Lego remake the Harry Potter sets?
Mr Spielbrick replied to legomaster08's topic in LEGO Licensed
He's innocent until proven guilty, but as you can see in my posts here, I severely doubt a Potter continuation too. -
Ghehehehe, brilliant! I love the use of cuffs for steering-devices and the bat...arang (?) as a propeller. Dare I say it: ideal Batman impulse set. Very "nifty" design!

Can't you just show us the first message they sent you, in which they confirmed there will be new Potter? -
Should Lego remake the Harry Potter sets?
Mr Spielbrick replied to legomaster08's topic in LEGO Licensed
Uhm... So what exactly did you base yourself on, saying that there will be new Potter sets? In that e-mail it says that they can't give you "any additional information about future releases". This does not necessarily mean there will be any future releases. -
Should Lego remake the Harry Potter sets?
Mr Spielbrick replied to legomaster08's topic in LEGO Licensed
It'd be lovely if TLC made new Potter sets, but we've been hearing contradicting rumours about it for months. If there are going to be new sets this year, shouldn't we have seen some preliminary pictures yet? The set numbers sound odd to me, they used 47.. for Potter so far (except on the 5th film's castle, which opens up possibilities of course). I could believe a new strategy where it comes to LEGO Potter (multiple smaller sets instead of one huge expensive one), but why haven't we seen prelim pics if they're supposed to come out THIS YEAR? -

I Am Iron Man: Original Suit and Tony Stark
Mr Spielbrick replied to SirNadroj's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Oky Wan, it didn't bother me, but for Iron Man enthusiasts you might want to place your spoiler under some SPOILER WARNINGs, eh? Sir Nadroj: niiiiice figs, man! Tony Stark is perfect and I really like your Iron Man suit (Mark I, is that what they call it?). You got some creative building techniques going on there! Cool! -
In America perhaps, but not for most of us Europeans

Mkay, so now that the new sets are on LEGO Shop @ Home for the Netherlands... Why isn't Jungle Duel there?!?! At my local toystore they were only selling the three biggest sets and it seems S@H Netherlands does the same! Please, let Jungle Duel be added soon... It's the only Indy 4 set I was planning on buying. Don't make me shell out on the huge Temple thing just to get Mutt and Irina
