Went to my local Intertoys today (is it a Dutch chain?), and SHOCK-oh-SHOCK! Three of the four new Indy sets were ready to be purchased! Thing is... The only one they did not sell was Jungle Duel and THAT is the only one of the new four I want to buy. Argh! As for availability: I'm not sure, but I don't expect any trouble in buying a new set at Intertoys. So yay, we can get them in the Netherlands too now! Prices however are brutal. Maybe I should've checked this site better, but come on... € 28 for River Chase = about fair € 50 for Jungle Cutter = pretty damn steep € 90 for Akator Temple = commercial suicide... NINETY euro's? Seriously?! The biggest wave 1 set was 75... 90 is just nuts!

Does anybody have a microphone and a piratey voice?
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
In my understanding it's a voice-over, so the speaker is not supposed to be a minifig on the screen. So no lip synch or hand movements. I'll record my attempt, then. Who shall I send it to? (Also, do you want it to be "classic hyphen pirates dot com" or "classic pirates dot com"?) -
Does anybody have a microphone and a piratey voice?
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
What do you call a piratey voice? Just a British accent or a raspy voice or or or...? If we'd take our reference from the moderately famous Pirates of the Caribbean films (I'd say one of your friends should have heard of it), would it be à la Mister Gibbs? Barbossa? Sparrow? I'd be willing to give it a try. If you can't use it, no hard feelings. What format do you want the soundfile in? MP3? WAV? Something else? -
LEGO Doctor Who minifigs by Mr Spielbrick
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mr Spielbrick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
In honour of Doctor Who being back on BBC screens since about 2 weeks, I've started up "production" again. I'll have to wait for the new Indy sets and some BrickLink stuff for a new and improved Jack Harkness, Ninth Doctor, Rose, First Doctor and possibly Eighth Doctor. But for now, let me introduce you to a slightly modified Tenth Doctor and Mickey in Cybermen-killer-mode: -
The most exciting star wars comic ever, starring..you!
Mr Spielbrick replied to General Zen's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Don't worry about it. School or work should always come first! We totally understand. My quitting art college and then being asked to reconsider has stopped me from making any LEGO creations in weeks. So I (and we) totally understand and have no problems whatsoever with this. As long as YOU're having fun, man. That's the most important thing. Keep things fun for yourself. -
Ghehehe, really cool vigs. I'm a huge Robert Rodriguez fan, and I entertained the idea of doing a Sin City vig myself for a while. I thought it'd be too complex. Looking at it now, I realize... it IS complex! Which makes your vigs all the more impressive. Nice work, man. Now I feel like I should hurry up and do a Mariachi vig before someone beats me to it!

The Dark Knight's Two-Face!
Mr Spielbrick replied to Ronan Nissen's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Very much in keeping with the Dark Knight style, yeah! Nice fig. I'm looking forward to seeing Two-Face in the actual movie. Should be a weird experience, watching TDK, with Heath Ledger passing away just a few months ago... -
So this is what the commissioner Gordon minifig will look like? I could warm to this version, though I still would like a trenchcoat. Ah well, if TLC can't figure out how to do one, I won't be too sad. The face and torso on this Gordon really look the part! Job well done LEGO, now go make this minifig for an actual set!
-
Hmm... I'm not so sure they could do an overtly Sauronesque villain. So far, TLC has clearly been careful not to base their designs on The Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons, Warcraft, etc. What's more, TLC likes to keep things simple, I think. Dragons, trolls, orcs (or goblins), dwarves, knights, wizards, princesses, kings... All common ingredients in fairy tales / fantasy. A big, black-armoured bad guy who is neither a wizard nor a king is less 'definable'. Which makes it less likely that he'll fit in the fairly simple LEGO fantasy realm. While I'm on the subject of simple fantasy figures: I think the LEGO elves will be good. Sure, the dude on the map looks a tad cranky, but so do some of the knights and dwarves. Fairy tale elves are usually benign. Even in the 'early' fantasy books (if one may put it like that), elves-turned-bad were mostly called orcs, not dark elves. They weren't even recognisable as elves anymore. My theory: expect no (too) overt LotR, D&D or WoW thieving by TLC and count on the elves to be good. P.S.: Remind me to apologize to Vader before I find myself suspended in mid-air, feet kicking frantically, with a very violent, sudden cough...
-
Top boss of all evil in Middle-earth, eh? That'd be Melkor / Morgoth. :-P Though, of course, he wasn't exactly a player in the Lord of the Rings saga (being banished by the Valar and all). So you're probably talking about his successor. ;-)
-
Isn't that going to be a violent, violent film? Not very suitable as a new LEGO line. The characters look cool, but I'm such a pop culture nut I'd buy any minifig based on a film or tv character...!
-
Cool Sontarans, Hewkii! I like how you made the soldier and general subtly different. The revamped Davros wheelchair looks great too. And I fear I never saw anything of Battlestar Galactica, neither the original nor the new version... I might have to catch up on that!

Three rings for the Elven kings under the sky Seven for the Dwarf lords (check!) in their halls of stone Nine for mortal men (check!), doomed to die One for the Dark Lord (sorta check!)on his dark throne in the land of Mordor, where the shadows lie (and orcs, check!, roam) One Ring to rule them all One Ring to find them One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them in the land of Mordor, where the shadows lie Or, in other words: looks like my MOC Legolas is finally getting company! Yay! It'd be great if they did forest sets. That way they'd make good use of the new Indy pieces... Seems like a move TLC would make, right? Bring on the Elves! Or should I say... Bring FORTH the Elves! *wub*

LEGO Doctor Who minifigs by Mr Spielbrick
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mr Spielbrick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Though it wasn't a fedora, Tom Baker did wear a hat from time to time. Just google 'Doctor Who Tom Baker' and pics of him with hat should pop up. Casewindu, I must say that is a very good Dalek design! It has the dome head, the sucker, gun, lumps on the side, basic Dalek shape... I'd nominate yours for best minifig Dalek I've seen in this thread. *y* In the meanwhile, I'm still working on - Mickey - Jackie - TARDIS (exterior) -
If you're looking for all the Harry Potter minifigs, badboytje88 has them on his Flickr in this set. He also added figs he created himself. As for all the sets... Have you tried going through Brickshelf and Flickr?

LEGO Doctor Who minifigs by Mr Spielbrick
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mr Spielbrick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I'll try a version of Rose with that head soon. Haven't done it until now cause Rose doesn't have blue eyes, but it might work anyway. When I do Mickey and Jackie, I'll add a new Rose with that face. Mmkay, now please don't y'all lynch me... but here's my first shot at captain Jack Harkness. Mind you, I really wanna change his hair to the Mutt-from-Indiana-Jones-thing, but seeing as to how I can't yet... (The dude on the right is another version of the Ninth Doctor. Which one do you guys think looks best?) One of the Ood: (Their tentacle/mouth face is pretty difficult to convey in LEGO form!) And to round the show off for today, here's yet another 'past Doctor': Tom Baker as the fourth. (Hopefully you'll forgive me for not giving him a custom scarf. I prefer assembling my figs with official LEGO only.) -
Where can we find your Colonial Viper topic then? I have no luck searching it on the boards. Looking forward to seeing your updated Davros!

What do you want to see from the Batman Theme
Mr Spielbrick replied to Batbrick's topic in LEGO Licensed
As for commissioner Gordon, here's a thought... MINIFIG TRENCHCOAT SOLUTION? Since TLC's "explanation" for delaying Gordon still seems to be that they're figuring out how to do his trenchcoat... Isn't that easy with this piece? Produce it in tan and make sure the printing on Gordon's torso matches the rims and you got yourself a decent minifig trenchcoat. Right?! (This pic is part of a photo taken by asmzine.com. I do not own it, I merely used it to illustrate my point.) -
Davros looks cool! And that Dalek... man, great work. Daleks are -very- difficult, but yours comes out recognizable and pretty much on the right scale. *y*

The good, the dead and the oldie
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mr Spielbrick's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Ooh, wide support for fleshies. *sweet* Didn't expect that. *y* I actually didn't spot the grey/bley till on the photo, *yoda*. It was dark here when I built it. But I agree, it would look better if the two weren't mixed. And Penguin, I too feel the rope isn't great. The vig was just a spur-of-the-moment thing, so I didn't think the details through too much. But yeah, the rope is definitely something that can do with an update. As for Sergio Leone westerns... This vig isn't directly based on any of his films, more the tone and type of characters and scenes. Once Upon a Time in the West has been described as 'a dance of death', which I feel is reflected in this vig. The young hero rises above the old villain, fallen in the sand by the gallow, where he will likely end. The weight of the chain and prisoner holds up the hero, who knows he might face a similar fate one day. My vague attempt at symbolism, haha! About the hero: I've been toying around with names, the most recent being Vincent 'The Glove' Delaware. Vincent suggest winning, Delaware is also called 'The First State', which would make Vincent sound like a pioneer on the Frontier. Who knows, we might seem him again in another vig... ;-) Thanks for the comments! Always nice to know your work is noticed. And your suggestions offer great insight in what can be improved. Gracias amigos! -
Mkay, the dark green is nice. But the design is nothing THAT special and the minifig is uhm, quite widely available. Do excuse me for not hopping on the "drat, I ain't got BrickMaster!'-bandwagon, but I feel I don't miss much without this promo.

WOW! X-O Slap me twice and hand me to my mama! What a cool trailer! Superb animation, I must say. The characters look good. The sets are spectacular! The lighting is excellent in some of the scenes (good in general, but look at the scene in jail and the one with all the skeletons!). Solid blend of LEGO animation and the computer kind. Hats off for the captain!

(I can already hear the flaming for using fleshies in a non-licence theme... but hey, I like fleshies.) Okay, so, sitting in my room, nothing to do. I looked at my CD tower and noticed... the Ennio Morricone collection. Listening to the music, I grabbed some bricks and put together a simple gallow. The figs soon followed and my first attempt at a little Western scene was born: Any kind of (constructive) comment is much appreciated. :-)

Sure, I see why the Tantive IV would be The Iconic Choice... But minifig-wise, it sucks. And it seems like we're all bent on a mf-sized set. Do we really need another set with Leia in white, R2, 3PO and Vader? If we want stormies or rebels, we can get the battlepacks. But, of course, I overlook the ship itself. Me being a minifig man, I could do without any ship. So my opinion in that area doesn't really count... The ship looks cool, true. So if that's what all ye want, ye have me blessin'. I'd just prefer a set with more interesting mf's... Like the Endor base (hey, at least they'll be dressed different :-P).

LEGO Doctor Who minifigs by Mr Spielbrick
Mr Spielbrick replied to Mr Spielbrick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Like I promised: I'm returning with Eccleston era figs. Not like I promised: I'm doing it a lot sooner. ;-) Inspired by the (in my view) great episode Father's Day... Pete Tyler close-up Rose (I'm still not happy with how she looks) and my first version of Doctor 9, Chris Eccleston I've just ordered some pieces from BrickLink. When I receive those, I'll be able to make: - Mickey - Jackie - Jack Harkness - one of the Ood - William Shakespeare - the fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) Photos of them are expected within a week.
