That is a very interesting new business practice, wonder how much that may impact on sales of sets?

If people are shocked that the Hulk is actually Bruce Banner and he is in the movie...perhaps shouldn't be going. I so hope he is included now as your faith truly deserves reward. To the other poster asking about the Batcave, the mechanism can be quite sticky at times but I found by taking it apart and making sure all connections are tight it rights itself. Also on a side note, I've had a friend who bought the set twice now with removed minifigs(He is in the US) It's obvious that this is a set that would be targeted in this way, but if buying at retail check the tape and box as much as possible.

Thanks for the review. Being in the UK too I will also be waiting for the price to drop at least £10. It's worth noting that this is one of the few modern days sets which I would be buying for the set with no thought to the minifigs enclosed. This along with the X wing are so iconic and both with brilliant and imo best iterations this wave. In regards the Tie Fighter design flaw you must need a separate licence to pilot a tie fighter, bit like an HGV licence. Though Lego may just have left out the oversized blind side mirrors

Thats my understanding that Twentieth Century Fox and Sony keep the rights as long as they keep making movies. I for one will be glad of the new spiderman/doc ock set as my one spiderman is looking a wee bit tired and I missed out on Doc Ock first time round

In this case you are probably right, but if this line continues I could see a revolving door phone booth for Clark Kent/ Superman making an appearance. I'm sure many kids/adults may modify the transformation chamber in the batcave for Tim Drake to Robin(It is Tim Drake this version? Haven't read the online bios). Everyone of these sets will become a collectors item for the mass cult/comic book collectors market that exists all over the world. I believe each wave will be relatively short and sweet to reflect this and with some of the character colour scheme choices and character choices for the sets I believe lego are working very closely with Marvel/DC to achieve this. How many kids know who Deadpool is, as opposed to Wolverine,Spiderman etc?

Im guessing because of the sheer size of the Hulk figure that is why he only appears in one set and like the wampa before him is pushing up the price of the set he is in.

The Curse of IMHOTEP - Confirmation & Discussion
surrideo replied to Rufus's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Eurobricks has been my first exposure to mafia gaming. I've looked at some of the games before this one and been concerned that sometimes it can be taken too seriously and that reality checks have well and truly left the building. I enjoy online gaming, though not admittedly much of a "chatter" on x-box live and so I discounted it admittedly far too quickly, as I felt I was not suited to it. It's a good old fashioned 'whodunnit' or in this case 'whoarethey' and I always enjoyed cluedo and the likes as a kid. Also the story really helps and the pop/cult/sci fi references contained in your game are all up my street. If Thundercats, He man and the raccoons turn up you've touched every base with me Thanks for the entertainment the last two weeks, always fun to look in on when I'm trying to avoid working -
The Curse of IMHOTEP - Confirmation & Discussion

Nope, just by the fact you are a camel and they are not Thanks to the hosts and all the players taking part in this game, it has been so entertaining and single handedly made me change my views on mafia gaming. Hopefully a mafia school soon and I see if I can actually play -
I hope when Lego start to release pictures/promotion commercials for this line they emphasise the compatability of some of the sets. I know for some people the piece count/size will never be enough, but I think the modular nature of the sets is a great thing in a licenced theme such as this and will encourage kids big and small to realise their own visons of middle earth.
-
I would hope the cycle may "bite" in some way, be interesting if it were of a similar piece count to Kais though. I think I'm in the minority but I really like that set. I also hope it is the same colour scheme as the Rattlecopter, wrecking ball etc

It wouldn't be a problem for kids to imagine a generic banner type figure becoming the hulk. A great future set could be a lab for banner with a horizonatal couple of sliding boxes(like the batcave but more compartments) with a banner figure in first compartment, an intermediate fig(normal minifig green face)and finally the Hulk in the last. or have it like a swivel platform under the gamma ray.

If he hasn't been picked up by lego they have certainly lifted many of his ideas and yes you could argue that a lot of them have basis in other media but too many coincedences with a lot of the design in there not to be him working with Lego....surely? You could extrapolate a lot of the preliminary images that have come from Monster Fighters to that second link

I'll stand corrected, thinking too much about the other lines but they are Disneys original IP's and not those of a subsidiary.
-
Oh no doubt in all the legal perhaps, but Disney will show up very clearly on the Marvel boxes Im sure. ......and now to get away from my own made box fuelled hell I'm pretty sure there will be new TDKR batman sets but I got to thinking if Catwoman,Bane and perhaps A N other villian is in the film would Lego redesign the current figures to look like the film more? i.e an alternate catwoman to look like Ann Hathaway as we are used to getting different versions of batman, but not so the villains

It's strange how it is disappearing(in the UK at least) The striker set can't be found anymore, then the HQ disappears off Lego. I have the whole wave but wouldn't mind some decent discounts on another HQ. Think John Lewis is my last hope but they don't have anything new bar Friends and Ninjago. Could be a dangerous waiting game

An excellent minifig that from the Eurobricks member. Looks like Merman from the She Ra cartoons. Fantastic

Well if you are in the US it may be, I have all the system sets bar the Batwing, none of the Ultrabuilds. I'm in the UK and unless Im going blind it isn't there. DC yes, WB no.
-
I'm guessing that like the Prince of Persia sets, PoTC and cars 2 sets that the Disney emblem will be on the box of the Marvel Universe line and the sets based on the film will have maybe a slightly different design or badging? It is worth noting that of the five DC universe sets I own not one has any mention of Warner Brothers on the box and so I can't see a Warner Brother branded DC universe TDKR line(They like Disney being the parent company). I'm hoping like many others that they may not have been shown at the Toy fair as it's Marvels turn at getting all the media attention and coverage and there wave of sets gets a fair run at retail and suffers little competition, as I've said before I think that the first wave may have a much decreased presence on our shelves come April/May

I would agree that all the Dinos(that I have) are beautifully coloured and printed. If the theme does get a new wave I hope they vary the number of dinosaurs. Over seven sets there are only five different dinos. The T Rex,raptor, coephylis(sp?) and pteranodon(sp) get two different colours and strangely for lego none of the dinos were exclusive to the biggest set. Still to pick up Tower takedown and T Rex hunter but I think they'll drop in price in the sumer like Atlantis did and unfortunately may leave even quicker than that theme did.

There is no doubt Forbidden Forest was one of the best value small sets for minifigures any licenced theme has ever had for containing main characters. I think the Fellowship will start to appear in smaller and cheaper sets but looking at Star Wars, how often do you get the "big" characters in £10/£20 sets(adjust currency where required)
-
Captain America is a huge character and Thor has had great longevity in his comic book line too. A lot of places to take these characters, don't be blinded by the first movies which were only there to set up the Avengers. Hopefully second movies can flesh out the characters in their own rights. Still out of all the Marvel films there have been the last few years the best one was undoubtedly X men First Class and sets based on the origins or early days of the x men are sets I would buy everyone of.
-
Nah it was an honest question and I hope maybe a few others answer it. Like yourself, if I was in charge Lego would be bankrupt, a £10 set would have 500 pieces and 4 minifigures minimum with as much elaborate printing as technology would allow. I like the Gandalf set as I think all these sets will be very modular and so Bag end will turn up(if not for LotR then the Hobbit) and all the other sets will compliment each other and depending on your budget you can recreate all the scenes within your own means. There will be people who already have the bricks who can create a better Helms deep or will buy multiples of the large sets and create pieces for others to lust after. However there are children with £10 and some old bricks and they'll greet gandalf with as much imagination as the man with £1000 plus of lego and film accurate scenery. That is the joy of lego, it is for everyone and every wallet.
-
What would you include in a $10/£10 set then?
-
There is a show in the UK called Being Human, I think BBC America gets it. Anyway it follows the tribulations of three housemates, ghost, werewolf and vampire. The werewolf in the pictures reminds me of this show and in that show the "mosters" are the heroes and I could definitely share the view that they are being persecuted

Have any of the sets ever come with all four ninjas before? The snakes sound much more interesting in the second wave, whereas the vehicles inspire me less
