  1. "Look. Why don't you just go away. This is our fire. Jessy collected stuff to burn, I found this barrel, and we used Jackson's firerocks. It's ours." The girl looks Nyx over, then smirks: "The wrong part of town. Might be better if you run back to your high quarter."
  2. "Hm." "Eh, what? Wolfgang? Is that worth waking me up for?! Go away, let me sleep."
  3. When the heroes came to, they were someplace different. Time had passed, as well. A full moon brightened the night sky. The heroes felt sand beneath their feet, and tasted salt in the air. The heroes were groggy from the teleportation, but they were unharmed, and together. The heroes found themselves in some kind of square, with walls of tall buildings enclosing them on four sides. All around them were people, most of them dressed in rags, and carrying beverages. Somehow, none of them had noticed the five new additions to the place. What do the heroes want to do?
  4. Guts, intimidating: "So now you wish to transfer your shame unto Gor, who fought your battle for you, and have it gone with him to grave. You're not getting off so easy. The Mezdalgaushrahk is over, Clan Aj-Kahr will follow suit. but I say Gor will live. This is not Gor's failure, it's yours. And still you claim you are right... You are disgusting. WE have the victory under the eyes of Tarok, that means WE are right. Get that through your thick skull." Guts turned around to his party members. "Haldor, patch Gor up so he can walk. We came all the way here, I want to take a look at that sodding bridge."
  5. Guts is almost level 30. As soon as he hits level 30, he will go for a certain expert class, and won't be part barbarian anymore.
  6. Guts faces towards his party members, pats Dyric on his shoulder, nods towards the rest. "Well done, well done, all. Manage to snatch anything, Alexandre?" The raider walked up to him, and squatted down next to him, cleaning the blood off Lifestealer with the general's ponytail. "Moment of truth. Do my fellow heroes want you to live? I wonder." The raider raised again, in anticipation of his party-members' answers. While looking over the loot, Guts says clearly: "You're contradicting yourself, Gor. Orcs and Goblins are not alone if they stand together. Perhaps it's time for your peoples to stop being scared little girls of what lies to the east." Guts hands 210 of his personal gold to Thormanil. "Anyone any preference for the Hide or Spear for any future activity? Otherwise the Spear goes to Dyric and the Hide to Alexis." Guts tosses the two Grand Tonics to Haldor, one remedy to Thormanil, one to Haldor and one to Alexandre, one smoke bomb to Alexandre and one to Thormanil, 30 gold to Alexis, 30 to Dyric, 35 to Alexandre, 30 to Haldor, 30 to Thormanil. Guts keeps the Grating Stones.
  7. "Very well. Off you go. Mister Clope?" The Cyclops nodded, took off his hat, and walked over to the shoddy enclosure where a pig was standing. The cyclops picked up the pig which was trembling, and the cyclops held it down in the middle of the pentagram. Seemingly out of nowhere, a small axe had appeared in the Cyclops' hand, with a single strike, the mage killed the animal. The cyclops stepped back, and as blood flowed in the middle of the symbol, visible dark, purple energy appeared around the edges, and the atmosphere in the room changed. As quickly as the energy had appeared, it went away again, and the cyclops gestured that the heroes were to go in. Some more sure than others, they did. As soon as the heroes stepped into the star, the world around them seem to change.. They were off...
  8. "Damn it Haldor. Olmstyr, attack Gor, back row." Guts attacks Gor twice from the back row. Battle order: Olmstyr Thormanil Alexis Alexis Guts Guts Haldor Haldor Alexandre Alexandre Thormanil Dyric Dyric
  9. One possible solution for a problem I don't think exists, if a player is KO'ed at the end of the battle, they get injured, and get a status effect that can't be cured by remedies, overwrites artifacts and will only go away after the quest. For example, when player is KO'ed at the end of the Quest, roll a die. 1: Cracked Head: The hero is permanently sealed. Overwrites Artifacts 2: Crushed Leg: The hero is slowed and immune to hastened, overwrites Artifacts. 3: Bruised Arm: The hero is weakened and immune to encouraged, overwrites Artifacts. 4: Smashed Pride: The hero is jinxed and immune to lucky, overwrites Artifacts. etc.
  10. I think it would lay off a lot of pressure, and you'd see more battles fought by just a few people. (because the others ones took a risk and died and the standing players have no need/pressure to revive them) Not a good thing in my opinion.
  11. I'm not sure I understand what you would change what to, WBD. I think is fine as it is. Sure you could at a 1-2-3 in 20 diceroll of being dead, but what if you do roll that 1? In this game, that means your years of progress are gone, and it is not like a normal RPG, where you roll up a new character and get to play with the same people in the same campaign again. If that happens in Heroica, you actively got to start from the beginning again, play in beginner's quests. That's pretty harsh in this game. Do you want to change it so that a person has to be standing more than being Ko'd in a battle to receive Experience? You will retain the problem you described of people getting experience for doing nothing.
  12. "Strivvi is not an island. It's a city on the west of Abra, Gibbin. The Town Watch hasn't got the resources to be perfect. One thing that would help everyone is if we had less of your pointless jests. I am assured that the teleportation magic is safe enough." "Portal Dabu, Krah ZuDo Zugzug Dabu Kros Frec 'Ley' Nash Mo. Very safe." "He's say'n that this place is on top of a cross'n of somet'n call'd Ley Lines, caus'n his magic to be strong and amplify the accuracy of his teleportation. It's safe, he says." "The one that directed me to this... gentleman assured me that it was safer than crossing the street in Eubric. Now if you can stop being scared little girls about this I can continue. It is as you say, Mister Boomingham. Where the guards used to be your primary objective, I share your thoughts on that matter, they are now secondary. My infiltrators remained in Strivvi when you departed, and from the few messages I've received, we've gathered that the guards simply disappeared. Men don't just vanish into thin air. Purple can't find them, if you can, you will be rewarded. Your primary objective are the Wolfgang, the ones that abducted my men in the first place. The Wolfgang is active in Strivvi, and I don't like it one bit. We've received reports that every now and again thugs from Strivvi end up in Eubric. The Wolfgang is recruiting in Strivvi and placing them here. Furthermore, the late Donny Dozenhands was thought to be behind the Wolfgang's presence in Strivvi, since he died, Purple reported that the criminals behaviour there changed, harsher, more organized, he described it as. Likely there was a change in leadership. Your primary objective is to take this leader out and dismantle the Wolfgang presence in Strivvi. Even though we crippled their leadership here, they are still a gigantic threat." The dwarf that had so far remained silent, spoke up. "It's good to see you again Heroes. The Keystone, yes. If you remember, the Keystone was supposed to open a vault that contained whichever the opener desired, sealed by an ancient civilization. My Strivvian Colleague Mortimer had found the location of the vault, but he was abducted and you were unfortunately not able to locate him in time, so so far the location of the vault remains a mystery..." "Yes, however, Purple reports that he may has some lead on that, I'm sure he will tell you more. The Wolfgang want this vault, and the keystone to open it. I want you to make sure they can't have it, either use the keystone to open it and take whatever treasure is there, so the Wolfgang can't get what is inside, or make sure that vault is already destroyed or lost in time. In any case, Purple or one of his infiltrators will meet you when you arrive in Strivvi, he will have detailled explanations of the things you'll need to do to fulfill your objectives. My correspondence with Purple has been less than ideal, I don't have nearly as much detail as I would have liked. Was I clear, any questions?"
  13. I'm not reading the other Baltarok quests so I don't know what's going on, exactly, but no, I think the rule is fine as it stands. It's actually more interesting if there's something to lose and gain for experience. It also means there are reasons you have to keep in good standing with (some) party members and can't be completely selfish and never revive or heal anyone. I meant, for example, for the fields, to help level up low level players so they can play with the general population, maybe it'd be something to consider. Don't know, there are not too many new players coming in so it's hard for those that do. I think generally if there's a battle with low and high level players it's up to the QM to make it balanced for both sides, and have it make sense to have a need to resurrect lower level players. That's difficult, but yeah.
  14. Thanks for having me, TK, I had a lot of fun. Thanks also to the other scum for making it a great game.
  15. I agree with Zepher. The only instance I would see it as a positive change is when a low level player fights amongst higher level players. And that is an undesirable situation to begin with.
  16. The cyclops in the tophat starts shouting at Nyx in a language that is not quite, but similair to Orcish. "Tar Zugzug Kurr! Mah Djar Fagrah Rodir! Puh." The guardsman that had so far been silent spoke up. "Cap'n?" The captain shook her head, sighed, and said: "Go ahead." "Mister Clope's appall'd that one would come into's house and start eat'n's food. He demands compensat'n from the... uh, black-hair'd wench." "Kurr." The captain put two finger and thumb to her forehead, and spoke up sharply. "Enough. Mister Clope, you will remain quiet until I tell you otherwise, we are paying you a hefty sum, you will excuse the heroes for this. Translate so it is clear. Heroes, I know this will be hard for you, but in the few minutes it will take to explain what you are to do, try not to do anything else that makes me regret turning to Heroica again." The captain remained quiet for a moment and looked at everyone in the room sharply. "Now. Miss Arbour it is, very well. You will hold on to this then." Captain Patricia produces a small, green object from a pocket. It is a cloudy crystalline object, unevenly shaped, with several holes. The heroes recognize it as the Keystone. She hands it to Ellaria. "I want you to look after that thing like it is... Just don't lose it out of your sight, Miss Arbour. Now. Gibbin has the right of it, this symbol will apparantly transport you to Strivvi. I suppose you haven't heard? Captain Lorenzo el Diablo with all his surnames, the captain that sailed you to Strivvi last time? Shortly after he brought you back to Eubric he deserted with crew and all. He stole the ship, the Armoury, as well. I received a report that Lorenzo is now a pirate with Strivvi being his home base. It seems he was in my cell for a good reason after all. The Bonapartes have put a bounty on his head for desertion, theft and piracy, but I don't have the details, he is not my problem. If you manage to find him, what to do is up to you, but he is not part of your objective. Since apparantly you Heroes have a corrupting influence on seafarers and those waters are by no means safe, we decided to try something else. I have been assured Mister Clope is the expert on teleportation magic in Eubric, however hard to believe that may be..." "Portal... Dabu, Boom, Boom!"
  17. Guts attacks Dyrumdyraz from the front row, Gor from the back row. Olmstyr attacks Dryuultar B from the back row. Same battle order.
  18. Captain Patricia nods to the paladin. "Mister Boomingham. Hm. The one eyed gentleman to my right would tell you it's a pentagram, if he could speak more than rudimentary Common, that is. I will explain. But first, the matter of the leadership, and responsibility, for your venture. For how much I would like Purple to lead you, I am told he might not be able to meet you there when you arrive. I've decided to leave it up to you, decide amongst yourselves who will lead the party."
  19. "Haldor, I want you healing Olmstyr. Olmstyr, attack Travoush, back row." Guts attacks Travoush from the front row then Gor from the back row. Battle order: Alexandre Alexandre Dyric Haldor Guts Guts Haldor Olmstyr Thormanil Thormanil Dyric Alexis Alexis
  20. "You're all here then, excellent. It would most likely be best not to keep Captain Cousland waiting. Follow me." The door is opened, sliding back. The heroes enter the warehouse with the guardsman. Skrall has to duck not to hit his head... The heroes enter a large open room, the floor is tiled in a peculiar pattern, and in the middle of the floor, a symbol has been laid out with sticks. All along the edges of the room, clutter covers the floor. The guardsman that led them here goes to stand next to Captain Patricia. Captain Patricia crosses her arms and starts to speak: "Heroes. You're late, as usual."
  21. Sorry, I checked earlier and it said February 5th or something.
  22. "I'm quite sure a certain miss Nyx was part of your assembly."
  23. Guts attacks Kanvyral A from the front row, the troll and Baz'zat from the back row. Guts orders Olmstyr to attack Kanvyral A from the back row. Same battle order.
  24. The Ogre ate the apple in a single bite. However, upon munching it down, Skrall notices that the apple is rotten inside, ew! Skrall is poisoned for 1. Ellaria looks into the longboat, and sees a variety of objects, a rusted anchor, some iron chains, a closed barrel, an old plank, a variety of nails, a few planks... Other than everything being wet, Ellaria doesn't see anything out of the ordinary. It must have rained a while back, after all, who would leave valuables out in the open in Eubric?
