Ellaria fails to heal, but Rufindel deals some damage. Boomingham is hit, but Skrall and Atramor take the remaining of the blows behind the board. The whole crew except for Mac somehow manages to hit their target. The wooden board falls apart, and Blackpeg takes double poison damage. Enemies: Blackpeg One-Eye the Slaver "Harr. 2. Guts was surprised by the words of the little creature, there was... some form of surprising truth to them. Guts answered: "In a world where so many things are dark, to stop and bathe in the good is selfish. There will always be a group of people that feels oppressed, to try and appease everyone is insanity. Eubric is, despite the poverty, injustice and crime still a city of oppertunity. The people you call oppressed, I call lazy, you say we have to give them the tools to survive, I say let them earn them. These people are just a fracture of the people in Eubric. See the merchant districts, the Temples, even the docks on a good day. All are bustling with life, and that's the real spirit of Eubric, not this piss filled crevice of a district."
  3. Guts spits on the ground in front of the metasimian, and says: "There is a difference between slaughter and the defense of people about to be slaughtered. Make no mistake, it was the crowd, not us, that cast the first stone." "I'm done talking with you, keep doing what you do, eventually you'll either see the error of your ways, or you'll get killed because of them."
  4. "You miss the point, demonspawn. I could not care less about the customs of his race, I say I don't expect him to understand, because I don't care about him. And you can hardly call the people I'm talking about oppressed. Demonspawn, let's face it, you are as ignorant as the first best lizard hiding under a rock. You clearly show you know nothing of this world. And I don't know if you are from the depths of hell, from another world, or are just plain crazy, but I'm going to offer you a favour. You show lack of understanding of the workings of this world, that's for sure. I'll show you this city, on my terms, and I will show you everything. And I mean everything. You'll find your views of this city are not as black and white as you think."
  5. "Let me tell you something, Ape. The Bonapartes were about to be lynched. And that ain't a pretty sight. I have seen it happen, a mass of people ripping a few apart. It turns men into beasts, no rationality, just a gory mess of blood and bone and the stains on the sidewalk. It changes you. It can't happen, it must not happen, no one, even if they had done the most terrible crimes, no one deserves that fate. Not the victim, but neither does the inflictor. For it is they that will have to live with the thought that they ripped someone apart. It's the very fabric of what sets us apart from animals, monsters or the undead. I don't expect you to understand, your people, the metasimians, are not known for their rational behaviour. The metasimians in this city leave their victims festering in the streets as a scare tactic. But I am no beast, and I want to remain that way. I won't live with the thought I contributed to an atrocity as was about to happen right here." Guts sighed, he spend way too much time arguing with the fools, you would always have people that just want to see something burn, or disagree just for the sake of disagreement. The events here reminded him of an event a long time ago, and for a short time, a few seconds, Guts -or whatever his name was- was back there. People shouting left and right, plumes of smoke in the distance over the houses. A young child, all alone, can be seen crying, holding an old doll. Then, more people blocking the view, and pushing the hooded figure away. The people were moving to somewhere, and they were shouting all kinds of things. What was said was incoherent and in many languages, but the general idea was clear; the people wanted blood. In the distance a small group of people can be seen in a clearing in the masses, holding weapons. An older man in armour holding a large axe, a woman, little more than a girl, wielding two daggers, a dwarven woman with the sigil of Ennoc on her shield, and an elf in a blue robe holding a staff. The armed people are in a defensive position, their backs at each other's. The people around them are making gestures with their hands and are shouting furiously. Meanwhile, the hooded figure has little idea of what is going on, after all, didn't he just wake up? All he knows is that something is about to happen, something bad. The hooded figure decides to get a higher view, and scales a building. Looking at the scene, things get into motion. It's unsure who made the first move, but it matters little. There were four, against hundreds. A few screams is heard among the chants and yells of the crowd, then a silence, before the crowd cheers. People start dispersing. An Orc can be seen holding a piece of blue cloth, a woman is seen triumphantically holding one of the daggers above her head. Both their clothes are stained red. The hooded figure finally gets a good look at what's left of the four, a mess. What first were two humans, a dwarf and an elf were rendered unrecognizable in a matter of minutes. Oppertunists can be seen taking all what might be valuable from the bodies, a minotaur uses a kitchen knife to crudely cut off the head of the man with the axe, cruely misformed. When he holds it high it can be greeted with cheers, and laughter. The hooded figure turned his head, and vomitted.
  6. 1 turn = 1 round. So if the hero was hastened, he would lose both actions, since he can not act that ROUND.
  7. Guts smirked, it seems they had made the right choice, fighting unarmed and untrained people was dirty business, despite the neccesity. At least no one died, and the Riot Leaders would get what was coming for them. "Let's go. We have wasted enough time."
  8. Guts picks up the sword, and swings it at his back, and ties it down with some leather straps. He then proceedes to divide the loot he got from the southern battle: Raven gets the Wrench, the Water Bomb and the Deadly Venom, while Mizuki gets the Phoenix Essence and the venom. Guts keeps the Smelling Salts for himself. "Raven, if you want, I have a WP: 5 Hollow Dagger you can borrow, for the remainder of the Quest."
  9. Either Guts would die a heroic dead against an old enemy he could just defeat, but succumb to wounds shortly after, Guts would grow so disillusioned with everyone around him and just decide to take matters into his own hands, and either die or disappear that way, Guts could die in his sleep from Scheherezade poisoning his wine, or, what I would like to see, that Guts becomes an NPC within Heroica's structure, think that would be interesting.
  10. Lots of things are acceptable in the name of awesomeness. Yeah. Quote that, people that use quotes. Oh it looks like Jeb had the same idea. Cool.
  11. Guts could not help it the blobs were rich as hell! The blobs had money, Guts took it, they did not stop him! What did you expect him to do? Leave the blobs and their ungodly hoard of gold alone? Hell no. By the way, I think the heroes of Quest 43 should use the lid from the coffin to slide down the hill. It would be awesome, just saying.
  12. Selfish little giant... Hoarding all the gold for himself, not wanting to give Guts a chance to make some cash. Is anyone else thinking there should be SOME form of limitation on the petrified effect one way or the other? There is no way to cure it except remedy, and very few enemies can remedy, I think.
  13. Just give us your theory, perhaps it's wrong, and you lose a lot of gold in the process? You will end up having to take a loan, and only two people in Heroica's world would be able to do that, neither of which you have to deal with. Bonus points if you give me the correct two people I mean.
  14. See my post in the Quest thread.
  15. I'll be honest and say I haven't read the last few posts in great detail, so I missed it. I'm sorry, if I catched it, I'd probably have said something, as you said. And this seems like the obvious way to do it to me, honestly...
  16. It's not my job to figure out the best strategies for you guys.
  17. Is it bad if I say you are not even at a quarter?
  18. Guts opens his pack and lays out the items he sweeped up from his first battle: Phoenix Essence – Revives a fallen ally with full health during a battle. Smelling Salts - Causes the hastened-effect, allowing the target to act twice in one round for the duration of one battle. Venom – Use on a weapon to make it cause a poisoned-effect on any enemy it hits for the duration of one battle. A poisoned enemy loses 1 health each turn. Deadly Venom – Use on a weapon to make it cause the badly poisoned-effect on any enemy it hits for the duration of one battle. A badly poisoned enemy loses 10 health each turn. Water Bomb – Causes 5 points of water-elemental damage to all enemies, doubled if the target is weak to water. Wrench - WP:3, decreases the target’s level by 1, throwing weapon "Miss Fenarian, I suggest you divide all things as you see fit among the heroes that fought with us, I encourage you to give Miss Mizuki and Raven here a good share, they fought well." Guts eyes the items the leaders dropped, and saw the greatsword, glowing faintly from the magics it was no doubt imbued with. Guts added: "That... Greatsword, inscribed with 'Fafnir'. I would like to have it, if it's not too much to ask." Guts then proceeds to wipe blood and dirt of his coat and weapons, he gives a quick glare in the way of the heroes that stood out the battle, the knight, and the metasimian, and also the demonspawn, that called himself Dek'ra, that decided to join the fight at the last moment, no doubt to just be on the winning side. Coward. Guts positioned himself on the back of the dead ogre, awaiting his party leader's words. Guts sincerely hoped she, the Bonapartes, or even the ever-passive veterans, who had only written out a lottery and nothing else during Guts' service in Heroica, would deal with them, so he would not have to.
  19. Nope, he attacks one of his own, it's not redirected, just changed on a free hit.
  20. Perhaps relevant because of the current battle my Questees are in, on wednesday it's International Talk-Like-A-Pirate-Day.
  21. Results of Round Four of the High-Seas-Pirate-Orc-Slaver-Battle. Nyx vs. Barnacle - Magic Counter (31 Health + 3 SP - 30/2 = 19 Health, WP: 7 x 2 x 2 = 28-30 = 0 Damage Dealt, 1 ether) Atramor vs. Blister - Special Mirror (Roll 5, remedy all negative effects, Mirrored) Boomingham vs. Bosun - Damage/Meditate (+1 ether (10+1)) Atramor vs. Barnacle - Special Mirror (Barnacle protects himself and Ship Rat A next round, Atramor mirrors and protects himself and Skrall next round) Jacob vs. Bumboo - Damage (35 - 32 = 3 Health remaining) Lorenzo vs. Bumboo - Critical Hit (WP: 10 x 2 + Level 20 = 40X2 = 80 Damage Dealt) Skrall vs. Buggerer - Special Damage (34 - 60/2 = 4 Health remaing) Bob vs. Orc B - Special Damage (40-10 = 30 Health Remaining, stunned effect) Ignacio vs. Orc C - Damage (35 - 24 = 11 Health Remaining) Mac vs. Orc C - Shield Riposte/Hit (Level 15 + level 24 = 39 Damage dealt) Christian vs. Orc D - Critical Hit (WP: 5 x 2 + Level 15 = 25 Damage Dealt) Rufindel vs. Ship Rat A - Damage (24 health + 2 Defense - 20/2 = 16 Health remaining) Ellaria vs. Orc E - Special Damage (No Special Guard)(31-10 Damage = 21 Health Remaining, Bleeding effect 3 damage = 18 Health) Free hits: Blackpeg vs. Buggerer (283 - (46x2 - 30) = 221 Health) Orc A vs. Nyx - (19 - 24/2/2 = 6 Damage = 13 Health) The battle continues, Nyx gets hit by an Orc, but she releases her spell as her opponent hits her, but it bounces off his armour without dealing damage. Atramor is content in watching how his opponents do their thing, one of them protects himself and a rat by raising his shield, while the other bashes his drums, and the party notices the opponents shrugging off their negative effects. Atramor picks up a floorboard that got off in the heat of battle, and positions himself in front of Skrall, who he will protect next round, he then starts drumming on the wooden board in the exact same rythm as Blister, and the party also shrugs of their negative effects next round. Boomingham meanwhile decides to meditate, while Skrall gets knocked around by one of the armoured orcs. Jacob, Ignacio and Bob don't do very well, and sustain damage, but Captain Lorenzo takes his opponent out and Christian and Mac deal some fair damage. Rufindel gets jumped on by the rat and is forced to fall back, and Ellaria has trouble with her opponent as well, and gets cut again. The confused Blackpeg hits one of his friends, and one of the Orcs jump at Nyx. Ellaria takes bleeding damage, while Buggerer takes double poison damage. All negative effects then fade from all participants in the battle.
