  1. They destroyed the molds for the classic space helmet years ago. This one can hold a visor.
  2. If Merlin said that, it must be legit. I'm glad it is near where I live.
  3. I think that this is actually a pretty cool set. I know that quite a few AFOLs will complain that it isn't a zombie or Spartan set, but there is always later. Is this set store exclusive, or will it be everywhere?
  4. In response to the above posts, there was discussion earlier that Lego would sell minifig parts online or in stores (look in his topic at around January) . Lego has a project on Tongal for Monster Fighters, but I don't know if this is for a show or just commercials.
  5. I think it would be interesting to see how the CMFs compare to minifigs of other themes from around the same time. The Spartan, for example, is cool and sought after, but is it really better liked than another minifigure from a popular line (let's say Batman from set 6858 for argument's sake)? There is less discussion about which minifig is the best in "regular" themes than in CMFs because you are guaranteed the same figures in any set you buy, whereas CMFs are blind packaged. I don't think it means these minifigs are liked less, but just have their availability discussed less. Brickset numbers also can't be reliably used because people buy sets for many reasons (overall set, build, parts, one minifig, minifigs overall, etc.), but people buy CMFs only for the minifig inside. (Also, when I'm listing things to go to sleep, it usually starts as Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venosaur,...)
  6. A variation of this would also do the same job.
  7. Look at brickbuildr for the bricks you need at other stores. If they are available in other locations, there is a good chance they are available in Elizabeth. If they aren't available elsewhere, they probably won't be in your store. Since it just opened, most bricks are going to be basic ones, but they will get better as time goes on.
  8. According to this ebay auction, This seems to mean that there is a Japanese ceramics company called Lego.
  9. Yes, you can only get it from a third party seller today.
  10. That set still had tons of minifigs, so I think for the brick-built elements to minifigs ratio to be high enough, the set would have to be thousands of pieces. You can't make a reasonably sized chess set out of thousands of pieces.
  11. Most of my Technic parts are in sets that are assembled. The larger, more specialized pieces (pretty much anything without studs) are grouped by color into four bins bought for $1 each at Target. The smaller pins, rods, gears, bushings, etc. are in a compartmentalized drawer. The old beams that are basically system bricks with holes drilled in are in with my system bricks.
  12. Awesome! I was hoping for a brick separator in one of the MF sets.
  13. At least where I live, most grocery stores take plastic bags for recycling.
  14. I bet the polybag will only be available in a certain country (Sun promo...) or it will be store exclusive and over $5.
  15. I bought a bag of Lego for eight dollars on Sunday. In it, I found this door. I didn't see the door in the bag when I bought it, and didn't even know what it looked until I looked it up while the bricks were soaking (still before I saw the door).
  16. That makes sense. I thought those things were horns or something.
  17. What is printed on the crystal in the zombies set? You can see it clearly in the picture from the review below, but I can't make out what it is supposed to be.
  18. The wings flap when the wheels move.
  19. I remember hearing somewhere that Lego discontinued these when they realized how popular SW minifigs are.
  20. Since there is a $10 off for purchases of $50 or more, the ghost train is $5 below MSRP and the castle is at MSRP.
  21. There aren't very many different ways to make a monster with it still being recognizable. The werewolf is the only one that could do this, and it is very different from the CM. Vampires are pale guys with suits, mummies are wrapped in bandages, Frankenstein has a flat head and is green with scars, etc. It would be too hard to make MF monsters different from CM ones while still being recognizable.
  22. I don't think that Monster Fighters is based of CMs; I think both sets of monsters are based off the monsters of folklore, legends, and movies.
  23. You should check out this thread.
  24. I bet this is how the German eBay guy got the sets earlier. Now if only a German member wouldn't have higher priorities than Monster Fighters and post a review... (or at least some decent pictures.) There's no system with it, you just roll it along the floor.
