Ah, indeed. Well, it was late when I wrote it but I'll install an English language pack on my browser anyway. Thanks for the correction, I really appreciate it!

Thanks for the replies. Intact, could you please tell me where I made mistakes? I only found "accesories" as a mistake, and it isn't a huge one.

I guess it was alright. I've watched them all and there were clearly some things that could have been better this episode. Like said, why didn't James May talk to some AFOLs? It doesn't make sense because for the other episodes he visited collectors or fans of the product and now he didn't. And that designer woman, what was she doing there. I didn't like her from start, with her weird visions on things. When the builders had to remove that brown stroke in the wall, you could see the "hatred" on their face. The house was nice, I loved the all the household stuff made from normal LEGO bricks.

8079 for 25 euro looks very good to me. I'm not really impressed by that set, but the red vehicle looks nice. And the monster looks decent enough. I think it looks pretty big for a 25 euro set, but it can be that the boxart is playing tricks on me. I'll have to wait on some reviews.

LEGO fans always wanted more LEGO City sets with civilians, normal people like you and I. LEGO fans had enough fire fighters and policemen. What we needed were people for the policemen to protect, for the fire fighters to save. And behold, LEGO has heard our praying because 2009 had plenty of civilian sets. And 2010 won't be any different. This impulse set is one of those, it's a traveller. It's supposed to be released next year in January, but it's already in most toy stores. The set costs 2,95 EUR and contains about 21 pieces, including a minifigure. That's what these little sets are all about, a single minifigure with some accessories to fill up your LEGO town. The box art shows the traveller leaving the airport with his luggage. There are two new pieces in this set. A double "cheese" slope, which looks a bit like LEGO wants to cut the costs. And a new headlight piece with closed back. I sure hope this doesn't replace to old version. The figure itself is very nice. I like the hairpiece and his smile. The torso is wonderful, it has a classic space logo on the jacket. This is already the 10th set in which the torso is included, probably because it's such a nice design. He also wears an Indiana Jones bag. There's a luggage cart, a computer screen and a camera to go with the figure. The set will fit very will in airports, but I'm sure it will also fit in front of a hotel, like the Cafe Corner, waiting for a taxi. So, like most of the little impulse sets it's a decent one. 7567 Traveller isn't impressive nor bad, it's a filler for your town. A tourist with his camera and suitcases fits everywhere, and the computer screen can be used as a... computer screen. It's a bit useless, actually. It would have been nice if the screen was replaced by something more fitting, but I also can't come up with something else. Thanks for reading!

@Manta Man: I'm not sure if it's the same plastic. But if the Ben 10 pieces are softer then I guess it's the same plastic, yes. Thanks for the comments. I have indeed put the propeller on wrong, thanks for saying, I hadn't noticed it. It's indeed a shame of the blue tattoo if you were going to use it for something else instead. Myself, I was thinking of swapping the piece for Viktor Krum's head but it wouldn't look so well with the tattoo.

LEGO really likes to release an underwater theme every two years or so, and I'm totally fine with that. Especially their latest underwater series looks very well. LEGO Atlantis: a combination of vehicles and (hopefully) a drown city. A team of divers begins their search for Atlantis, but they better watch out for its guardians! LEGO Atlantis has to be released in January 2010, but it's obvious that the sets are already available in many stores. I really like the color sheme of the LEGO Atlantis theme, and the idea is just great. The sets however, aren't that great in my opinion. I first thought they were going to be awesome, but after a closer look I noticed that not all of them are really good. For instance, some of them look very skinny (Typhoon Turbo Sub, I even thought the engines could be fold up) or are a bit too expensive (Guardian of the Deep, not impressive at all for its price). But the little sets look extremely nice, just like this one: 8057 Wreck Raider. The set costs about 9,95 EUR with 62 pieces including two great minifigures. The boxart is really nice, although the Atlantis logo is really big. On the front the box also marks the new "collectable" rings which will work as keys, like in the Gateway of the Squid set. The back of the box shows the back of the vehicle and also the play functions: two flick fire harpoon shooters, which look actually nice, and the propellers which can be changed from direction. And now we also learn that there are 5 rings to collect. Some of the new pieces, they are very interesting. The trident is made of a softer kind of plastic than normal LEGO bricks. On to the best part of LEGO Atlantis: the minifigures. We get a tough diver and a fierce shark. I'm not sure whose the bad guy? Perhaps the diver who intrudes the home of the sea creatures, or is it the shark who defends his home? When you take of the diving gear of the diver you'll see a clear look of his dubble printed head. He's a tough looking pirate, but when he encounters the shark he gets scared. Notice the beautiful printing on his torso, back, belt, legs and even his feet. The other figure has a also a nice lookig print and a cool head. But, as not pictured on the box, on the top of his head there is a printed blue print. It doesn't look bad. The shark made me think of the shark head, included in 4762 Rescue from the Merpeople (LEGO Harry Potter). Of course there are differences, like the softness of the plastic and the amount of details, but they're both sharks. Viktor Krum's headpiece is made of normal LEGO plastic while the shark's head is made a softer kind. Onto the main part of this set. The diving vehicle looks very nice. The colors match very well and the lime green bits are nice details. The design is very well, it's bulky and for once time the flick fire missiles are integrated well. And I'm not a sticker hater, most of the time I put them on the model. And in this set they really add to the detail of the nice vehicle. The completed set is just awesome. I actually don't see any flaws of this set, but if I have to think of something: perhaps a harpoon for the diver and a little piece of rock with seaweed would make it complete. Compared to some other sets I think the price is matches the set. The color sheme and design of the 8057 Wreck Raider is just perfect. And the minifigures make it really good. In my opinion, this is a must get for the fans of LEGO action themes. I hope you've enjoyed my review of 8057 Wreck Raider! And here's a little extra: a keychain! In Belgium we get them for free with some of the Atlantis sets in the Fun, a toystore. (on a sidenote: in January we'll get Star Wars keychains, in March keychains of Toy Story)Together with the 8057 we get a diver, with the Guardian of the Deep a manta warroir and with the Typhoon Turbo Sub a shark. But like I've said, I'm not so fond of these sets so I'll probably won't get them.

I saw this on Brickshelf yesterday, now it's being updated. I'm really happy to see all the sets and prices for next year. But I'm really dissapointed... The prices. I usually don't like to complain about LEGO and its prices, after all it's a quality toy and a luxury, but, wow. Compared to the American pricetags, this is weird. I hope they'll adjust them because paying 14 euro for 4 ,yet awesome, minifigures and a weird vehicle (yes, the Star Wars battlepack) when the Americans only have to pay 10 dollar (which is like 7 euro) just doesn't make sense. The landspeeder would have been "only" 15 euro some time ago, now it's 27 euro?! Next year will be the first year in which I really want some nice Star Wars sets and it has become way too expensive. The pricetags for the non-licensed sets are alright.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Matn replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Awesome, I'm very excited about these. However, it's a shame they didn't put them in cheaper plastic bags. And we would be able to feel through it. Now it'll just be luck and guess work. Oh well, I still would like them all! -
Thanks for the information. I didn't know there were many double-decker buses like that so that's very helpful. I think I'll give it a try later, when there are perhaps more purple pieces available. And I only got that tag because I sometimes make digital decals, so I'm not a real customizer. It's a big challenge, but for now I'll just be happy with the set. Again, wonderful creation and keep them comming.
-
I hadn't really notice the difference. I just use them all together, mixed. But now I know it, I think I'll see it much faster and that I won't combine them as I used to do. However, as not everyone is the same in the real world, I guess not everyone has the same eyes in LEGO world. It causes diversity, which is good.

Best-Lock has been around here for a time, next to the LEGO. But not in the big toy store, I haven't seen other brands over there. Ministeck is also showing up sometimes (yes, like in the Lidl). I haven't been impressed by other brick brands, but I must say Oxford is really doing well. Heck, if they would be available around here... I would have to resist myself from buying one. I mean, the quality and design looks really good judging by the pictures. The harbour, awesome. And their trainsets with a station, LEGO could actually learn something from that. I also have to say that I was very tempted a year ago to buy me some Megabloks, because some of their sets (like aeroplanes) almost convinced me, and my father was interested in their jets. However, I resisted and never bought any. Oh, we had Megabloks when I was little. But not for me! My parents bought my sister a girly Megabloks set, because there wasn't any girly LEGO anymore. But a few years ago we got rid of it. Like said, I don't like other brands. But if Oxford ever comes to the western market, I think LEGO will lose a lot of it customers. Probably not including me, because LEGO will always be the best for me (and I already have so much of it, why change).

LEGO has annually released for the past six or seven years a beautiful Creator house. The first years they were white with red. Then came the beige town house, the yellow vacation house and this year we've got the Family Home. This set has been released in July. With its 976 pieces and a price of 59,99 euro, it is an expensive building. However, LEGO is always expensive and so are these annual Creator houses. When you've got the chance to buy them on sale, don't hesitate! I've always hesitated and this is the first one I bought for a price of 40 euro. With the pieces, and instructions, you can build three models. I have chosen to build the main model because the others don't look so interesting to me. So I'm not going to talk about them, if you would like to see the others, click here. The box is filled up well, unlike some other huge boxes. There are four instruction booklets, two for the main house. On to the building. In one word: beautiful. As you can see, the designers have done a very good job on the architecture. The little pond looks nice, with a brick built duck. There's even a birdbath, a golden one, lucky birds. A patio, and a sliding door, with dark tan tiles make it even better. Above the front door is a big light. The chimney is also very nice. And little thing to nitpick about; the roof looks a bit unfinished without the upper slopes (but otherwise it wouldn't be able to dismantle the two parts of the first floor). But if you want to, it can be made sleeker when you put them on yourself. The colors match so well together! Some close-ups of the building techniques or special parts. The building of this set was pretty interesting with the use of jumper plates. There's also an upper floor. The windows here make use of the new window shutters. I wasn't fond of them at first, but they start growing on me. The problem is that they aren't put on the window itself, but on a brick with clips next to it. That means you have to offer brick space when building your own MOCs. You can take the roof apart, in two pieces. There's room enough for a small desk and perhaps a bed. It's common that Creator sets don't have decent interiors. But they've managed to put in a fireplace and stairs on the ground floor, though a fireplace in your hall. Doesn't make much sense to me. It's up to you if you add interior or not, there's plenty of room. Conclusion: like I've said, 6754 Family Home is a beautiful set. The building was relaxing, like it has to be, with some nice techniques and much jumperplates to make the windows stand out. The architecture has been done well, the amount of details is perfect. The color sheme makes this set stand out, I wasn't so sure at first thought, but blue, tan, white and red mix very well together.. And the amount of tan comes in handy. The Family Home is also a very sturdy set, it doesn't break apart when there's played with it.The only things I don't like so much are the fact that the roof isn't made perfect, but if it would have been difficult to break the upper floor in two pieces. And also the plants, they don't look so good, that's fixed fast with some proper LEGO plants and flowers. And 6754 Family Home can be considerd as a parts pack, if you are able to buy one at a low price. I use mine in my town because it goes well with minifigures. I hope you've enjoyed this review!

The Alpha Team continues its Mission Deep Sea. And all of sudden, they stumble upon a submarine of Ogel! Controlled by an evil skeleton minion and with a claw and a saw Ogel has an advantage in the battle of the deep sea. And watch out, it also drops bombs! 4793 Ogel Shark Sub was a set in the Mission Deep Sea subtheme of Alpha Team. Released in 2002 with 115 and 3 minifigures, it costed around 16-20 euro. Let's start the review with a quick puzzle: Next up: the evil minions. The leader of them has a slightly different torso, there's a badge on it. On to the Shark Submarine. It's pretty wicked, although I'm not so fond of the arms. Yes, they do their job, but I find them not fitting. Perhaps something less <insert that tiresome argument> would have been nicer. Other than that, I like the claws and the saw. The printed windshield is also a nice touch, though there are stickers on some of the fins. The back has been done nice, using a hinge brick to make a SNOT technique. The horizontal fins can go up and down, probably to go up and down underwater. The minion leader is steering. It isn't totally closed, but that shouldn't bother the, already dead, skeleton. The other two minions are stabbed on red lightsabers on the back of submarine. You can lift the upper part up so they can swim away. And now the bomb function. A bomb has to be put next to the two minions and then you can let if fall by pulling away a technic piece. Please notice that I've made a mistake, I placed it in the wrong technic brick (correct place is shown in the manual). Another nice Alpha Team set. I have to say I didn't like them that much in the beginning, but the more I look at them and the more I "play" with it, the more I like them. They look pretty nice, a very nice color sheme and Ogel with is minions. It's awesome. The play value of 4793 Ogel Shark Sub set is very high, many parts can move and the submarine has some vicious weapons. Maybe the minions could have use some weapons and a good guy would have been a nice touch. Other than that, it's a more than good set. I hope you enjoyed this review.

Woah, I've won the first prize! Yay! Thanks CopMike for organizing this annual raffle.

Fantastic bus, just like all of your creations. I especially like your creations on minifigure scale and this is no exception. I like how you've managed to recreate the subtle shapes of those buses. Do you think it's possible to recreate the Knight Bus of the Harry Potter series? I have this idea in my head for the last couple of days to break down the official LEGO one, which was a good try of LEGO, but it can much better if I look at your awesome bus. I would base mine a bit on yours, if I may, and would it be possible to recreate purple bricks?

Painting white plates LEGO-red without making them too thick
Matn replied to Dennimator's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In the past I painted a single hairpiece, but if I would color a batch of pieces I would use spray paint. Spray paint for modelling kits would probably work very well, as it is meant to use it with plastic. My father uses/used (he hasn't done it in a while) Tamiya with his models. Check out their variety of colors: http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/list/spray.htm Like I've said, I haven't done it myself, but it'll probably work. -
YAY! I'm so happy for the confirmation. Looks like LEGO Harry Potter was kept by LEGO's sense of money. Or to get the fans satisfied? It's a bit weird after all the "no we ended the series" and "it's too dark" ... Anyway, I don't care much. I'm very excited. I hope to see pictures soon, but a whole year waiting... Oh, well. It has to be released with the movie, or else it wouldn't get much attention. Some thoughts about the names: Dobby's Release: as said, this is going to be a remake of the set we got in 2003. An awesome little set because Dobby was in it. I sure hope they don't redesign Dobby, so it matches with the design we have now. Quidditch Lesson: also a remake of the lovely set we got years ago. I hope they put in some Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw Quidditch players. Hagrid's Hut: I have the first Hut, but I think the second is way nicer. So I hope this one will be even better than the second release, so I can get my hands on it. Perhaps with his dog this time? The Burrow: ah, finely! A few months ago I couldn't wait any longer and I made my own Burrow. I hope it will look design, but with an interior. I wonder how they will make this, because it has to be tall and weird. But with playability? I'm looking forward to this one, I really wonder how LEGO will make it decent. Hogwarts Express: it will be the second/third version (it depends on the way you look at it) of this famous steam train. I hope LEGO will include the same new wheels as in the Emerald Night. And it would be awesome if they make it an exclusive, if so, it would be designed by a true AFOL. Hogwarts Castle: the more the merrier? If it includes new figures, yes please. I'm looking forward to this line. Now I just hope it's all true.

Thank you very much. We have indeed the same camera. I have a new set-up to take pictures: just a big white piece of thick paper and the lights of my new LEGO attic. Those two, big lights spread the light around, so I don't have to use other lights or stuff to diffuse the light. But now I realise the pictures can be a little bit lighter. I have also taken pictures of the Mutant Whale (but as it just has been reviewed, I'll post it later) and I hope to review the submarine you've talked about on Wednesday . And I had registrated me for the Reviewers' Academy, but I forgot it a bit... So I have been kicked out. Maybe I'll rejoin, but it also works like this.

The Alpha Team got their new mission: Mission Deep Sea. Defeat evil Ogel. But watch out! Ogel has some fierce and evil looking mutants as his servants. They come in pretty handy when he's at the bottom of the sea, doing evil stuff. This set was released in 2002 under subtheme Mission Deep Sea, the second subtheme of Alpha Team. This time Alpha Team has to go to the bottom of the sea to prevent Ogel from doing evil stuff. The set contains about 62 pieces, including one minifigure. The set had a price tag of around 10 euro at that time. Let's start with the figure, evil old Ogel. The interesting parts include his trans-red hook and his evil looking face, the same head used in the Castle 2007 sets for the evil wizard. Maybe he would have been more interesting with some matching weapons, like trans-green sword or something. On to the squid. Ah, doesn't he look fiersome? The mutant squid has some awesome tentacles, very hand to build... other squids. The colorsheme works very well, the trans-green gems go well for his eyes. The claws can go open to suggest his jaw. When opened his weapon is exposed, a trans-green spear. The head of the mutant squid can come off. Ogel sits in the head of the mutant squid with a control panel. Doesn't that make it a robotical squid? It would sure makes more sense to me. It's probably a biorobotic creature. That's it! I think the 4796 Ogel Mutant Squid is a decent set. Especially for it's price that time, 10 euro for a pretty big creature. But it has become a very cheap set on Bricklink. If it would be brought out this year, it probably have costed the double. There are some awesome parts like the trans-red windshields and the huge tentacles. The 4796 is also a sturdy set, so it's very playable. Thanks for reading!

Well, to be honest, I thought there wasn't going to be much LEGO bricks in it, seeing the first trailer. But I wouldn't have mind it. Those videos on the website make it look even more awesome. I think I'll maybe buy myself an Xbox 360 or a PS3 for this... It will look so beautiful on those consoles + online gameplay. Sure my laptop will probably handle it, and there's a Wii version. But it won't be as wicked I think. EDIT: looks like the person who explains the flying with a broomstick, so the people who make it, know pretty much about the series. Yay for that!

I'm in! LEGO Harry Potter was one of LEGO's best themes, with very accurate and creative sets with much playability. That alone is one of the main reasons to revive the theme, the sets were very recognazible. And fans are still waiting on the whole cast of the Harry Potter series. LEGO Star Wars fans got many characters in LEGO immortalized, but we're waiting... Waiting on all the teachers, on some of the important students and of course other important characters. The minifigures were very accurate, I like them very much. Of course, we can make decals. But we all now it won't be the same as if LEGO would do it. And I sure would like to see some more Harry Potter creations here on Eurobricks. Sure, we're shouting out for the revival of LEGO Harry Potter. But I hardly notice that 'we' want are favorite wizard back.
-
Thanks for letting us know about this awesome trailer! Ah, man, the game looks even more awesome. I like it that they have made, unlike I thought at seeing the first trailer, many things in LEGO. Like the sink and toilets. I do have one thing to nitpick about... They've used the older looking figures for the trio, but it's only the first 4 years. I think they should have used the first heads, where they looked younger. Hermoine looked nicer, and Ron didn't look so... drunk.
-
That whole set fits perfect under the christmas tree. I also did that a few years ago, but I've broken it down now for its usefull parts. I do hope to get my hands on it sooner or later. For other sets, buildings, I sometimes adjust the roof with a white plate or white slopes.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Matn replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow! Very nice. Looks like we'll be getting some awesome new themes and minifig accesoires the comming years. I like every single minifig on that picture, and I hope they will be available in every country. If not, I would make an arrangement to go to the German LEGO shops or something like that.
