I have to agree with you. If it would be the truck stop... Then it won't come in my house. Where would I place that?! In my little LEGO tabletown? That doesn't fit at all, a truck stop. I've only seen some truck stops on the main roads and those aren't in my neighbourhood at all... They don't make sense in small towns, I hope LEGO thought like that and made something way nicer to have.

Yeah, you're totally right! I was also thinking about that, then I converted a set they had in stores (2009 set), and it was roughly the same price we have to pay for it now. So, I thought, why shouldn't I roughly compare them. I'm really looking forward to the Burrow. I think it's going to be pretty big (because it sounds expensive), with some great techniques used in it. I hope it's the same seize as my MOC, but with playable features. I really can't wait for the first pictures. A Collectors Edition Hogwarts would be fantastic. But also not doable as a LEGO set I think. But I would buy, it would be my first huge LEGO set (as if above 150 EUR). Oh, it would be marvellous. The architecture, the little details, the awesome minifigures and accessories...

Thanks for the link. I used XE.com to conver South African Rand (ZAR) to Euro (EUR). I've also had to let my thoughts go about this. 4736 Dobby's Release: 15,76 EUR If this is the price range (14,95) then I sure hope it's twice as big (because twice the price) as the first Dobby's Release... 4737 Quidditch Lesson: 27,62 EUR This is also a lot more expensive (10 EUR) than the first release. So, more and new figures? Perhaps Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw? 4738 Hagrid's Hut: 55,24 EUR Hopefully based on the third book, with a Buckbeack and a pumpkin field. 4840 The Burrow: 78,92 EUR Impressive price... for an impressive building? I'm sure there'll be some awesome figures in there! Molly, Arthur, and some other children? Wicked. 4841 Hogwart's Express: 94,80 EUR Woah, so it'll be motorized? 4842 Hogwarts Castle: 157,96 EUR I think we will see the biggest Hogwarts castle till date! So it looks very expensive, so I hope we are getting some awesome LEGO sets. If the sets are as the same quality as the older LEGO Harry Potter series I know that I'm going to buy them all. How can I not, as a Harry Potter fan? I'm old enough now to know that I would like to have them all... If we just could see some pictures.

The Penguin's Castle Minifigures..... )
Matn replied to The Penguin's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
All these figures are awesome. And I love the centaur! It's just so perfect. I was about to do the exact same thing since I saw the new trailer of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4. There's a centaur in it with the body of an official LEGO horse with a LEGO minifigure's torso on it. I already have brown clay, but I'm afraid of cutting my LEGO horses... Some time ago I have thought about making one with just pieces (like SlyOwl's centaurs) but the non-purist way looks so much better (although SlyOwl's centaurs are amazing) and more in scale with normal LEGO figures. You have showed me that it is doable and that it looks very, very nice. Hmm, I'm still not sure of cutting a LEGO horse... -
When I was little I threw them away. Together with my instruction booklets... I don't know if I did that myself or if my parents made me do it. Strangely, I still have all the boxes and instructions of the sets I got from my grandparents. Today I don't throw them away, I store the smaller ones in the medium boxes and the medium ones in the bigger boxes, ... and so on. And then I place them under my tabletown or on my closet. When everything is sorted in my LEGO room I hope to have them all stored under my tabletown. From 2005 I am conscientious of not throwing them away. I don't think I'll cut or throw them away soon. I try to keep in mind that LEGO has a collectors value, so if times aren't so good in the future I'll still have something to keep my savings intact. And I get a bit of a nostalgic feeling when looking at some old boxes, the feeling when I had in the store seeing those awesome sets for the first time, it has something.

Yes, this is really becoming pretty annoying. It was like that with the brooms, so when you put a broom in a minifigure hand the broom gets damaged. My older brooms are really messed and my newer ones I even never put in a minfigure's hand. I do like those new spikes, because I don't use them for minifigures. Those new Atlantis tridents are also made from the same material... But with broomsticks and tridents it's pretty annoying because you can see that fast. It would be much better if those elements were made from the regular LEGO plastic.

Thanks for the update CopMike! There are some awesome and useful figures in there.

Hah, indeed. I think it's better not to ask something for Christmas, so you can't be disappointed. Actually, I don't think I've ever asked for a present! And after all, Christmas isn't about wanting. I want, want, want... It's about giving. Be happy that you can give, be happy that you got presents... Because there are a lot of people who can't do either!

Argh, my scar hurts. But welcome Lord Voldemort! I hope the other kind of MOC's are LEGO Harry Potter ones, because it would be nice to see more of those here. I hope you'll have a good time here. There an index of tutorials for the forum, and here you can check out how to place images on the forum. Good luck!

I really don't understand people who are mad because there have been some colour changes. Okay, I also don't like to mix old and new grey, but it can come in handy when building for instance some ruins. And I love both old brown and reddish brown. They give a perfect natural mixture of wood in medieval houses!

Like I've said on Flickr, this is awesome. I like it that you've extended the new LEGO Atlantis theme in something this cool. All the creatures are so creative and I think the differences in colour of minifigures works really well, it brings much diversity in this underwater world. Your Medusa is really awesome. The colours are very vibrant and although the architecture is simple, it works really well. Maybe it can look a bit more like real ruins, but perhaps you were going for a completed look of the temple. The greenery, the seaweed looks actually natural. I hope to see some more of these Atlantis MOCs! I'm going to say it again; I really love your design of a Grindylow. It can't be done better with official LEGO pieces, normal bricks wouldn't work out so well and it wouldn't be recognisable (to the Harry Potter fans). That Space Police alien head is just perfect, it even fits within the scale. I was breaking my head how to do them a couple of days ago, you've given me the solution and I'll give you credit for sure. Now I just have to get my hands on a couple of those heads.

What would make a great Adventurer sub-theme?
Matn replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This is indeed a great topic, thanks for "bumping" it. I really like the ideas of Athos. LEGO Adventurers: Atlantis. I was thinking about this today when I build some new LEGO Atlantis sets and some LEGO Alpha Team Deep Sea Mission sets. What if you replaced the divers with Johnny Thunder and his crew? It would be so awesome. Excellent diving gear with an old style on it, it would be very big. Huge submarines in grey and brown, but not too steampunkish, also with a modern touch. Beautiful sets both beneath the surface of the sea as above it, on the shore. Great seacreatures and then the evil nemesis whose working with the evil creatures, and of course Johnny Thunder who has some friends of himself in Atlantis (just like in Orient Expedition, were he had always a buddy from the continent with him). I think I'll work out some of Athos' ideas someday. But I think not for now unless I really want to or when I'm tired of LEGO Harry Potter. I'm actually pretty fond of the newest LEGO Atlantis, usually I'm not a big fan of LEGO Action Themes (unless it's Adventurers!) but the sets look very nice, especially the figures and the idea behind it. LEGO likes to release underwater themes, and I hope, when time comes, they rerelease LEGO Adventurers. And when it does, with an Atlantis subtheme. -
Ah, yes indeed. I now also notice those wheels in the first picture. I thought it looked like Megabloks, but I was afraid to tell it at first.

That will probably be the new LEGO Hero Factory theme, there's a topic about it here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=36643. Thanks for showing us these new pictures!

Woah, I got LEGO this year! It has been some years since I got LEGO for Christmas. I got the smaller Atlantis sets from my sister (and that's all I'll get from Atlantis): 8072 Sea Jet 8073 Manta Warrior 8056 Monster Crab Clash I also got some Alpha Team sets. My father bought them second hand some months ago, I then got the evil Ogel sets, now I got the others from my parents: 4791 Sub-Surface Scooter 4792 Navigator and ROV 4794 Alpha Team Command Sub And then a "Vegas Playboy( )" pack (deodorant and shower gel ) and some money. My parents were about to give me two other presents containing a LEGO set (the City advent calendar, yes I know what it is because my dad said he bought it, but I never got it) and somethintg that has to do with LEGO. But I said that it really was enough for Christmas. I didn't want any more things for just one evening (if you know what I mean, it would just become too much), so I'll get it for New Year.

Fantastic review, excellent pictures. I really like this set and its design, probably out of nostalgia. I'm not going to buy because of it's high price... 30 dollars for a small spaceship? It justs looks so small. But like I said, I think the design is pretty good and accurate. Again, excellent review.

Oh, looks very interesting! Thanks, I didn't notice that at first. It's going to be relatively cheap because it's released under LEGO Games. Nice!
-
Wait. Whut?! Why hasn't that been scanned? And were there other Harry Potter sets? Thanks.
-
I love this new theme! It looks just so classic, two human factions against each other. Awesome new pieces and nice sets. I thought it was like Knights Kingdom at first, but this is better. I think it's even better than the Castle theme. Don't get me wrong, I love the orcs and goblins but this theme has an awesome castle and prison tower. I haven't bought much of the Castle theme, but I'll probably get all the sets if they are as nice as I think now.

Although I would have liked to wait on some high-res pictures, the sets look awesome. I'm usually not a fan of speculation months before the release of the sets, but they look very nice. The sets actually look all very nice, it'll be a nice and expensive year. Especially City (beautiful trains, nice LEGO truck), Castle (very classic) and Atlantis (city + underwater base) looks awesome. I just wonder if everything will fit on the shelves! Glad I've seen them and now we all have to wait a long time before we can buy them.

Awesome as always! That curverd wall technique is very nice, thanks for sharing and explaining. The sails look a bit small, but I guess that's the look you're going for? It works very well. I like that beefed up goat. The details are nice, even the pond has different colours of blue, nice touch.
-
They look good, but not outstanding. The minifigures on the other hand are looking perfect! They'll be great to expand my collection of unofficial Harry Potter figures. The amount of accessories and the awesome parts are nice. But the constructions don't look special, especially that marketplace thingy. I'm not very interested in the movie (maybe I'll go and see it), but as partspack these sets look wonderful.

City Runabouts, City Car, Small Car, it's all the same. Here it's called 'Stadsauto', so when translated it's called City Car. @prateek: it doesn't have a back window, but you can fix that easily (but then you have too lose the space for the briefcase).

Woah, this is awesome news! I'm looking forward to some good pictures of these fantastic new sets. I don't have the room for these, because I have a 9v-track laid out, but they can look very nice.

INDEXED -Zorbas Smarts are cool, they're economical and ecological. And that's what the designers at LEGO must have been thinking when they came up with this little set. And it also fits within the civilian sets. The set is going to be released officially in 2010 but it's already in stores. The box of 3177 City Car contains about 43 pieces including a brand new minifigure and the set costs 4,95 EUR. The minifigure is wonderful. The new torso is cool and I hope LEGO makes some color variations on it. There's even a back print with a hoodie. I think dark blue legs look actually better on this figure (in combination with the light blue on the torso). The Sma... euh, city car looks very good. Yes, I first thought it was really small, but it has to be small if you look at the car on which it's based. Also notice the doors, something we hadn't seen in quite a time. A suitcase fits in the back of the car. The design is very good but I'm not so fond of the colours. The white changes so abrupt in black, it doesn't look so good. But it's not bad either. In the future I may going buy a second one and build a black version and another white version. I think 3177 City Car is a good little set. Perfect for cheering up your LEGO town, it doesn't have to be all six wide trucks that ride around. The minifigure is very nice, and so is the car if you don't care about the black and white contrast. For the money you pay for it is definitely a must get because I don't think this is overpriced. Hope you've enjoyed my view on this new City set!
