  1. The shape of the doorway is really neat The tower itself is excellent, I don't think I'd combine wood and stone in that fashion myself, but it looks really nice I have high expectations for Phase 3
  2. Thanks LJ, glad you noticed the upside down plate roof Thanks Titus Thanks Graham! Thank you, and yes they're getting much better! Now to make things trickier for them with phase 3 Thanks
  3. Yeah, I wouldn't walk near that thing if I could help it! Superb ground texture and Nocty landscaping as always
  4. The double set of curving stairs are my favorite feature here Neat roof decorations for the little shrine as well
  5. Neat ruins, and I like the orc spying on what's happening The bridge certainly steals the show, and your head choices for the minifigs are very fitting
  6. The use of click hinges for that stone technique is quite clever The dark red foliage was definitely a good choice to add
  7. Splendid little hut! I like how it's framed by rockwork, and the dark green vines fit perfectly
  8. That has got to be the best giant I've seen built in LEGO Everything about him is perfect! Wonderful landscape for him to tromp through as well, the spiky bushes look great
  9. The ruined sections of wall along the path look really nice Excellent photography and composition as well
  10. The dark green mixed into the rock sections is a great touch The patch of dark tan on the ground directs the eye nicely to the action of the scene
  11. Sweet ruins! The way you have the mid section crumbled looks great, and I like your round tower
  12. Thanks! Yup, all my builds go on my website first Thanks Kai! As you thought, those are just 3L bars put into the back, then front of headlight bricks. A bit tricky to assemble sometimes, but quite stable once in place. The 2 stud width, 1 brick height difference seems to work best.
  13. Here's my build for the second Archery phase. I continued experimenting with cross braces, and took inspiration for the tower’s gables from Brickvader. As the spring weather causes the snow to thaw, archery drills continue at the range. You can see more pictures here. C&C welcome
  14. The log brick border works well here Nice to see the Mitgardian banners included, and those chairs look pretty comfortable too
  15. The tentacle monster is pretty scary looking Nice layout for the buildings, I like how you have stairs leading up out of the courtyard area. Good cheese slopes mosaics too
  16. New interview! This time with Nocturnus' newest MOC Expert, Blufiji! 1) What was the biggest reason you decided on joining the guilds and Nocturnus? I've always been a fan of castle theme lego, and fantasy in general. In mid 2014, I started seeing castle themed builds on MOCpages with "Built for the GOH over on Eurobricks" tag under it and decided to check it out. I've always been a fan of castle theme lego, and fantasy in general, so when I found the guilds, I was sold. As for the reason I joined Nocturnus, I saw that it was the guild with the least membership (active and total), and for me personally, the most potential to challenge myself to be a better and more creative builder. 2) Have you experienced a GoH 'dark age' and if so, what brought you out of it? Not as of yet, but I'm sure it's coming sooner or later. 3) What are the main inspirations behind your builds? Any particular motivation behind your series of builds that focus on the same idea re-imagined in every guild? Lavenwood Vale (Avalonian Watchtower) Frost Spear (Mitgardian Watchtower) Endless Resolve (Nocturnus Watachtower) The Lonely Watch (Kaliphlin Watchtower) The main inspiration behind my builds is bringing great scenes to life with lego. I enjoy balancing lego landscaping with architecture, and creating builds that show that harmony with touches of realism. As to my motivation for re-imaging every build within the same guide, It's more of a way to A: pass the time between the challenges, B: To practice building a variety of landscapes and C: To take advantage of the openness of each guild. One of strongest aspects of GOH is that you can build in any guild you choose, regardless of membership. 4) Has GoH changed your part collection much? Are there some specific parts you find much more useful now than when you began Castle MOCing? My collection probably grew to 6 or 7 times it's original size since I joined, and after donating a huge number of parts and colors I saw myself not using, it's probably down to about 3 times the original size, 90 percent of which are geared toward Castle MOCing. As to your second question-curved slopes and masonry bricks..yea. 5) Which of your builds is your personal favorite, and why are you so fond of it? Evenfall Castle is my personal favorite, the reason being I feel like I reached a new personal plateau for several aspects of the build. 6) What is your favorite aspect of the Guilds, and are there any areas you would like to see further developed in the future? Definitely the imagination and lore that is put into each challenge. Though I've only participated in one challenge, I read through a few others and saw how the leadership took the time and thought to implement a cohesive story line and a fun set of challenges/battles to go with them. As far as improvement, just updating the guild pages is all I could think of at the moment. Thanks for your time, Blufiji!
  17. @Legofin2012: Glad to hear that! I'm planning on taking pictures of Archery Phase 2 today
  18. Wonderfully ingenious, and well executed build Using bley for the giant himself, and dark bley for the added castle armor was a smart choice. It's head looks perfect, and I like how you can glimpse his arms through the inner sides of the towers
  19. Split level interiors are great Lots of lovely details all around here! My favorites are the curving stairs, barred window, railing detailing (SNOT stone section under it included), and the wooden rafters with webs and chains
  20. Thanks John Thank you! One of the tiles came in several old castle sets, as Henjin mentioned, the other comes in the Friends Archery Range set.
  21. Really effective use of those dark bley/bley spike parts Neat archway detailing as well. Obviously the stand out section is the dragon's head though A solid white background would help show off the build better. Sheets of posterboard, or cloth are cheap ways to make a background
  22. Thanks Kai, and don't worry, they will be more accurate next phase Thanks Garmadon! The beard over quiver thing was something I found pretty neat myself Thank you!
  23. Thanks! I wanted to do something a bit different with the border, and we had gotten more of those 1x4 tiles with two studs at BFVA, so I decided to use them. Thank you, I was wondering how many people would notice the atrocious aim With this target design it wasn't possible to put any arrows on the actual bulls eye. Maybe they retrieve all their hits sooner than the misses. Thanks, I tried to think through what a real range would look like. Thank you Titus, there are more cross supports in Phase 2 Thanks en_zoo! And I'm surprised no-one has called me that before
