  1. Mine would have to be the Muppets (like in my sad CUUSOO proposal here: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/11050 ) or Sesame Street. But I'd want the Sesame Street to be minifig scaled, and not all Duplo-ized. I know both of them are controversial and some people don't like them. But hey, it's my dream. :) Honestly, my DREAM licenses were always Star Wars and DC Comics. And even though I want more DC heroes in the Super Heroes line, having Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman all as official LEGO minifigs is beyond my wildest dreams. Actually, my wildest dreams would include Aquaman. Hence THAT CUUSOO proposal, which is even sadder. ( http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/8664 ) There's also Star Trek...but I'm not sure what I'd want to see in that one. With LEGO's Euro-roots, I'm really surprised there hasn't been a Tintin at some point...
  2. So I just made my first LDD, and posted it as part of my Muppets proposal on CUUSOO: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/11050 ...It's the Muppet Theater, and I'm trying to decide ways to sharpen it up. I just posted it this morning, and where my proposal is just now passing 500 votes, I'm trying to find ways to add to it. I figure if I can learn LDD better, that would be better than my craptastic hand-drawn sketches. Which are on that site too, and are pretty silly. But hey. Work with what you've got. If any of you have any suggestions or helpful criticisms or tips or just want a good laugh, check it out and let me know what you think. It is my first time. Be gentle. -ish.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions Roaming! ...and yeah, those videos are awesome. :) With Disney announcing work on "The Muppets 2," and fast-tracking it, I do think this could work. I added the custom Electric Mayhem members the other day--and it passed 500 votes yesterday. This morning I posted my first LDD, one of the Muppet Theater. It is my first, so I welcome suggestions. But be gentle. -ish. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/11050
  4. Updated my LEGO Cuusoo proposal today with customized minifigures for the Electric Mayhem: the band from The Muppet Show. That includes Dr Teeth, Floyd, Animal, Janice, Zoot, and I threw in Rowlf the Dog, because...he's a piano playing dog. How can I not include him? I used the recent minifig guitars for the band, and then built the piano, keyboard, drumset and saxophone; that sax is ridiculous. And looks ridiculous. I custom-sculpted some things, but tried to keep it to a minimum; except for Animal, all of the others have a standard minifig head, but with a reworked hat or hairpiece. I had sculpted my own hairpiece for Janice, but then the "Hippie" minifigure showed up, so I used that hairpiece for her instead. Works pretty well. Anyway, if you're interested check it out; I'm just around the corner from 500 supporters now, which I think is what triggers "official notes" from LEGO. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/11050
  5. I assume we'll get most of the Justice League at some point (I hope) from DC Comics...but the one I really want the most is Aquaman: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/8664 Well, not the MOST. But the ones I want the most, they're already doing, or sure to make. I think he has the potential for great vehicles, villains, allies, playsets, and with the anti-Aquaman lobby among nerds, he's the one I worry about them NOT making. Plus, there's all the Atlantis/undersea stuff already out there that would fit in well with an Aquaman playset. The trident, sharks, mermaids, octopus... Anyway. Aquaman Black Manta Mera Aqualad (any iteration)
  6. Ah, I don't care about the tiny hole in the hairpiece...wow. I'm actually looking at Friends parts. Who woulda thought? :)
  7. First, thanks for the support. I have experience modding minifigs, but I like to do things my way, which may or may not be offensive to the LEGO/Eurobricks community. And thanks for the information about the saxophone and banjo! I'll be checking those out.
  8. Thanks for your advice and your support--I want to work on the minifigs first, primarily because I have customized lots of toys in my time. I'm sadly more comfortable sculpting and painting than I am building. That said, I do want to use existing parts as much as possible. I also want to get some 3D modeling of the sets; things like the Muppet Theatre are within my capabilities, I think--at least to get a better idea. And yeah. Jason Segel. I've tagged him on Twitter and stuff when I've tweeted about the proposal, but haven't really launched a campaign. Hmmmm...
  9. I'm pretty sure this is the set that will tip me over into buying all of them. Which is probably why TLG spread out the characters the way they did. Bless their plastic little hearts. I remember when I first saw the LEGO Batman, I thought the cowl/pointy earness of him was way oversized, and looked ridiculous...but I couldn't resist buying him. Now I think he looks like LEGO Batman "should" look. I'm hoping Iron Man's helmet/mask grow on me the same way. Right now I'm in the "it looks oversized and somewhat silly" camp, and I don't know that it was necessary to do the flip-up mask...hopefully having the toy and playing with it for a while will ease me into acceptance. Whatever. I'm buying it. Hopefully in about an hour.
  10. Hey Eurobricksians, I have some questions that some of you might be able to help me out with. I have a CUUSOO proposal up here: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/11050 to make Muppet LEGO. And while I know that it's not for everybody, and there are some people who evidently really hate the Muppets with the passion of a thousand burning suns, I want to try to strengthen that proposal. Right now the proposal includes hand-drawn sketches of 35 Muppets. I think the sketches do a fairly good job of representing what I'd like to see done. And they look LEGO-ey enough. And while I've been told by some that they have some charm in their own right, I want to move past the sketches. My question for the customization kids is basically...(and this is a loaded question, and several of the purists will probably either vomit or faint)(not both, it's dangerous)...would people prefer to see customized, modified, butchered-up minifigs in three dimensions, or do you think the sketches are adequate? My plan right now is to start with a sort of sub-set--the band from The Muppet Show, the Electric Mayhem. (seen here: http://images.wikia.com/muppet/images/4/46/Electricmayhemposter.jpg ) ...my reasoning is that although they may need a few custom hairpieces/hats, they'd really just be torso redesigns on a standard minifigure. There are other Muppets that would really only be feasible with a smaller, Salacious Crumby-take (Rizzo the Rat, Camilla the Chicken, etc.) or oversized monsters. But the band members are all pretty much human/minifig shaped, when compared to Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, etc. So. Advice? Should I start with them, post pictures and proceed from there? Should I include custom instruments for them? Really, I'd use guitars from the Minifigures line, and build the keyboard and drumset for the band; I'll have to research how to make a saxophone though. Any advice/comments/criticisms are tolerated and appreciated. I know this has a one in a million (or technically, today, a 357/10,000 chance) of even making it to the review stage, but you know how it is with the obsessive compulsive. We can't let stuff go.
  11. Love the updated versions!!! Ginny's hair totally makes that Amy Pond work. Great choice! I really like your Nixon too--I wasn't sure how you'd make him work, but that's a simple, but really good proto-nasty Nixon. I love the clothing you've chosen for River's torso--what about either Han Solo legs or a cowboy/western legs for her? That would give her the leg holster that I seem to remember her wearing. Or, I could be totally wrong. Ha! And keep trying to find a better hairpiece--that pop star seems closer...still the dirty blonde color, but with more volume. In any case--great job. I love what you're doing.
  12. Hahaha! He's ridiculous. I love him. Great job...and interesting to see how much one minifig really can carry.
  13. I like that a lot. I haven't bought any of the Friends hairpieces at all yet, but now I'm staring uncomfortably at my Lady Liberty and thinking she might need to come hang out with Batman. Do the Friends hairpieces fit perfectly on the minifigs, or have a little bit of rattling around room? I've been away too long. Anyway. Great idea, simple, elegant.
  14. Okay, that works for me. Thanks for the guidance, BrickBox. That's what I was kind of guessing anyway.
  15. That is a very fun review--thanks! Now to find the thing...
  16. Hey guys, My name is Quinn, and I'm in Salt Lake City, and I was active on Eurobricks for a period of several months a while back, and then stuff changed, and I became more a lurker, watching for the news and checking out your guyses reviews and stuff like that. A question about protocol for the forum--is there a place where people are posting their CUUSOO ideas, so that people can go and view them/vote for them/whatever? I mean, I know I've seen Western Town on the front page a few times (awesome, btw), but is there a section of the forum where people are posting them? Or would I just put a thread in the section of the forum that it's appropriate for--like if mine is space-themed, put it in space, etc.? Or is it just tacky and troll-y to post the CUUSOO proposals here at all. I just don't want to screw up and be all offend-y to someone. That's it!
  17. I like all three sets, but I'm not a big fan of the Knight Bus in the books, movies, or this set. Then again, at that price, I can see myself getting it "for my son." :) The Forbidden Forest looks like a great twelve dollar set, and although I just finished my own version of Narcissa Malfoy last month, I'll gladly replace her with an official TLG version. And like others have said, I'm glad we're getting Professor Sprout and the others, and like others have said, this was a great opportunity to include a Tonks that now I'll have to make on my own. I do like this as an add-on to the new Hogwarts set; it's not fancy, but it'll do. I'm glad this series was revived for the final movies--looks like LEGO wants it to go out with a bang.
  18. Have we heard a price piont on the Pizza Planet Truck yet? That and Lotso's Dump Truck are the only TS3 sets I'm sure I'm buying...although I'll probably end up with more than that. Anyway. Any ideas on the price?
  19. Aye, this is brilliant. And Obi-Wan turning the spigot on the keg instead of the tractor beam? Amazing. Now make extras for all of us!
  20. It's a stunning set--I remember going over to my friend Travis' house and playing LEGO with him for hours, and it was sets like this and his other Classic Space sets that we'd be playing with. What an amazing set. Great review--now I'm jonesing for one of my own. My wife will not be pleased.
  21. I use both for everything...most of the time I don't even notice a difference anymore unless I sit down and really examine them. Which I don't. So they can be whatever skin tone they want to be.
  22. Thanks everyone for the information and recommendations. I got the "2008" from the DK LEGO Visual Dictionary, and wasn't sure if the set was identical to that one or not. It seemed like this may have been a 10th Anniversary of SW LEGO set and had exclusive labeling, but I couldn't tell without it here with me if it was any different from the sets listed on Brickshelf or not. I did look around before finally posting the question here. I'll try to pick up the set this week at Target; I was going to pick it up on that $20 sale in November too, darthperson, but it sold out at the five Targets I checked before I got to it. I was surprised to see it back on the shelves; just wanted to check in with you guys before I forked over the $30 for something I might regret. Looking at it, and the reviews...I think I need it. Thanks for the assist.
  23. So somehow I've been buying Star Wars LEGO sets since 1999, but never bought a Darth Vader TIE Fighter. I saw one at Target today for $29.99, and almost bought it, but wanted to ask--is this the same version that was released in 2008? And is it a good set, or should I just wait another five years and hope for another release? Who am I kidding. I'll buy this one, but I was just wondering if this is the same one that was released in 2008, and if there are any cool features I should know about, or be warned about any shortcomings. Anyone?
  24. This is a great book--I like it more than Complete Cross-Sections, just because more of these locations are things I would try to build into a diorama. The cross-sections has more of the mechanics that would be hidden within anything I'd build anyway. Complete Locations is well worth the $.
  25. Here are some Green Lantern minifigures I made to go along with Batman and my other DC Comics minifigs...check it out if you're interested. http://quinnarama.blogspot.com/
