  1. Awesome scene from an awesome movie: "Anybody else want to negotiate?" -Bruce Willis as Corbin Dallas Excellent choice of head for Corbin and good job on the rocket launcher as well.
  2. Hmmm.... You might be on to something here: After all, the newbie ensigns that always got killed off at the beginning of every Star Trek original series wore red shirts, so the fact that he's the rookie and has no official name on the site might mean that he's meant to be the disposable Red Shirt....
  3. This post just made my day! Thanks, Vynsane, I needed a good laugh just now. Of course, when DOESN'T TRU jack up the prices on LEGO sets.... That's why I try to buy them at Target, Voldemart or a LEGO store instead, if at all possible.
  4. Definitely better than the ADU Walker polybag set anyways....
  5. Man, this stuff looks great! I'm going to have to see about making a BW order soon. I really love how you've got the RPGs and launcher separate, and I can't wait until the Android heads become available in quantity. They'll make for nice aliens.
  6. Really nice custom minifigs, and very clever names... I actually laughed at the "Sun Systems Kid": I mean c'mon! Sun isn't THAT bad as far as software development companies are concerned.
  7. Like Kristel said, nice work on combining Olivia's House, the Butterfly Beauty Salon and the Heartlake Cafe into a convincing modular. It really looks good.
  8. Maybe they're confusing LEGO Friends with the upcoming Megabloks Barbie sets? Seriously, though, most of the naysayers seem to fall into the category of "critical research failure" when it comes to their "complaints" about this theme....
  9. Excellent work, Sci-MOCs... To quote one of the subject's of these vignettes, they really "put a SMILE on my face!" The old "Batman Smells" is one of my favorite secular Christmas song parodies.
  10. Congratulations! I'm happy you made 10K supporters, HJ! If I only get one set next year, I'll make sure I get this one, provided it passed LEGO's review process (and I'm fairly confident it will!)
  11. Heh, I just got this set today and was considering doing a review when I saw this. I'm definitely in the camp liking how they cleverly hid the flick-fire missiles, and I'm also happy that the Blue Squad uses the same color as the ADU troopers: I was one of those who were disappointed that Alien Conquest line was so short-lived and this provides a way for those of us who wish, to keep expanding our ADU forces (maybe designate these guys as additional pilots or use them to represent a different sub-unit). As for the large tail fins, they did originally appear in CITY sets (mostly white) and they also were in the Alien Conquest Jet Copter Encounter set in regular blue. Since I've been planning on making a Red and White version of my Buteo VTOL Gunship mod from the get-go, this set is a good parts pack, since it takes care of one of the major special parts I need for it, and the cockpit piece is perfect for another MOC I'm in the process of developing (The Super-Tech Raptor from Raptor: Call of the Shadows)... @Echo: Yeah, that part in medium azure would probably have been better for the nose....
  12. My wife and I had some business to attend today in Annapolis, MD, so we stopped at the Arundel Mills LEGO store to see if they had the Hobbit sets (they had all but one) and Galaxy Squad sets, which they also had. I got the Swarm Interceptor, and I really like it. It is a rather nifty little fighter craft on its own, and it is packed full of useful pieces (the large tail fins and the cockpit piece in trans clear) for a good price. Furthermore, while I still haven't managed to do a side-by-side comparison (most of my LEGO stuff is still at my parents' house), as far as I can tell from looking at them in person, the Blue Squad dudes use the exact same color of blue as the ADU troopers from Alien Conquest, which will give me a nice way to keep expanding my ADU forces (maybe use the Galaxy Squad guys as pilots or a different sub-unit from the other ADU troops). Needless to say, I'll most likely be getting more of these, money permitting.
  13. President, er Captain Redbeard, by far. (if you're wondering about the president part, Redbeard was one of four minifigs I had that survived the great givaway at the end of my first dark age, along with my sig fig, my brother's sig fig and my custom Gandalf minifig... When I got back to collecting LEGO a few years later, I made Redbeard the President of the Federal Repbublic of America, which is on the map in my profile). I just love Redbeard's torso and hat as well as the brown epaulettes... Very useful parts they are.
  14. Wow, I can't believe you've actually managed to make 27 Vic Vipers thus far, not to mention of such high quality, too!
  15. Nice streamlined look, Stefan! I also like your clever usage of the LEGO City Spaceport chrome gold visor for the pilot as well.
  16. Man, I love what I see so far.... Definitely gotta get the space alien trooper, at least one forest woman, the battle robot, the knight (when I saw the good ol' visor helmet I almost LITERALLY jumped for joy), a couple cyclops and a mermaid or two. I'm also probably going to get at least one starlet, just for the Marilyn Monroe hair, and depending on what the cop's torso printing looks like, some of them as well.
  17. So, I finally settled on my house, after over 6 months worth of BS delays and am currently moving in. You know, in case any of you were wondering about my relative lack of activity here lately......

  18. I wonder if I'm the only one here who gets both the Victorian cultural reference of your superhero avatar as well as the TV trope visually referenced therein.....;-)

  19. Ooh! I love this, that movie was one of the more awesome (and realistic, in terms of characters) sci-fi movies made in the 1990's... It was also a movie quote gold mine, although not quite to the scale of, say, Army of Darkness or Star Wars, but close. I may have to try and make a flying sampan Thai Restaurant sometime....
  20. Ha ha! This is the first MOC I've seen that actually used Brick Separators as part of the build! Good work and really funny, Si-MOCs.
  21. Well, this MOC was well worth the wait, as usual with your work, ACpin. The best part is that it looks like it could have been an actual TIE design, based on a re-vamped version of the TIE Phantom.
  22. The cave troll from the LOTR line is also sand blue... As for the "Golden Award" for the Hollywood Starlet, my money's on it being just another pearl gold (or maybe even chrome gold) statuette piece like what was in the soccer player, Karate dude, etc CMFs... If the Combat Robot is light blue, like the Galaxy Squad ones, I'll probably be getting several. I also really like the look of the alien commando dude as well, and the two-faced mad scientist would make a nice Chaos Mutant, and I'll definitely get the cyclops as well.
  23. Yeah, I've noticed that my MOCs and MODs tend to fit the general design scheme of official LEGO sets.... I think part of that might be because (at least according to one of the things that one of their designers mentioned) that I tend to try and balance aesthetics, parts economy and ruggedness, rather than just going for what looks best, whether it will collapse if you accidentally bump it or not... I definitely agree 100% about wanting official LEGO made miniguns... Until then, there's Brick Arms. Thanks! Nabii actually posted a similar comment on Flickr... I guess it helps that the A-10 is one of my favorite fixed-wing aircraft (not to mention that they were made not far from where I grew up).... Of course, mounting the engines, or at least the intakes up high makes sense from a certain tactical/engineering point as well: Jet engines, particularly most modern designs that use ceramic-based composites, can be destroyed if they suck in a small, hard object such as a medium-sized coin or a pebble. In most cases, such as at established military airfields, civilian airports and aircraft carriers, they have the ground crew regularly do what is called a "FOD Walkdown", where they meticulously go over the entire landing strip/airfield/flight deck looking for any Foreign Object Debris that could damage the aircrafts' engines. Needless to say, this is not feasible at most forward air bases in combat zones (a.k.a. mostly level strips of dirt that are big enough for planes and helos to take off from and land on)... Positioning the intakes/engines ABOVE the fuselage (as in the case of the A-10 and many jet-powered combat helos) as opposed to BELOW the wings is the easiest way to keep the engines from sucking in random bits of debris that could mess them up, allowing such aircraft to use unimproved front line airstrips. ...Of course, this has the secondary and unintended function of making such aircraft look particularly hardcore.
  24. Well, to be perfectly honest, if he's like me and generally won't touch any of the LEGO Action Figure lines (Bionicle, Gallidor, etc) with a 10 foot pole it's perfectly understandable that he wouldn't know it had been released as part of Hero Factory already (heck, I didn't know either, but mainly because I don't like HF or the other action figure lines since most of the parts are completely useless for normal LEGO builds). Good catch there, I didn't notice until you mentioned it... Nevertheless, I'm quite happy they've brought the Classic Space seat back (it goes practically all the way back to the beginning of Classic Space, not just the Insectoids).
  25. Excellent work, CupIsHalfEmpty! You really delivered the goods. I'm really liking what I see thus far: As I said before it REALLY looks like the Blue Squad could work with the ADU minifigs/sets... Also, someone pointed out on Flickr that the Blue Squad robot's head could be used to make some Daft Punk minifigs, which would be freaking sweet! Yeah, that would have to be my favorite set out of the series, too. You should, its totally worth it! ....My only disappointment from what has been revealed so far is that it seems that, as is the norm for LEGO, the only female member of the Galaxy Squad is in the largest and most expensive set.
