  1. 3. - Peppermint_M - 3 I just love those old-school type planes.
  2. That is one awesomely evil mech! It looks and sounds like something that is part of a Chaos army set for Warhammer 40K....
  3. Excellent work! That mini sub on the back has given me some ideas on how to make a post-apocalyptic pirate submarine for my setting, which was giving me some trouble for quite some time. By the way, does this thing have an interior, or is all the space used for structural stuff to support the SNOT?
  4. Well, the multicolor bit sounds like a mix of Classic Space/Futuron and Ninjago... Normally I'd pass, but the insectoid aliens really sound intriguing, and the different colors of the Galaxy Squad ships could be useful for different factions in my Post-apocalyptic scenario.... I.e. the lime green and orange would be useful for the Hordes of Chaos, as craft for followers of Nurgle and Tzeench, while the White would go good with the general neo-Futuron look of the Federal Republic of America's space fighter wing, and blue would go with the Airborne Demolitions Unit (ADU) mercenary commando division. ...Of course, I'd like to see some pics before making any final judgements, but this theme definitely has my interest.
  5. Nice, interesting little locomotive you've built there, Tony! Excellent job as usual, and an excellent relation of the history of a short-line railroad I'd never heard of until now.
  6. That is a really nice system-scale trolley... Really fits in with the rest of your town. San Fransisco trolley cars are cable-powered, and are the last manually operated cable car system in the world. Incidentally, the system uses 3.5 foot "cape gauge" instead of the 4 foot 8.5 inch standard gauge like most US railroads.
  7. While I never really got into Ice Planet 2002, I did have at least one set (the Blizzard Baron). Your updated versions of the classic sets and minifigs really look great, and are spot-on for what Ice Planet 2002 would look like if LEGO were to re-launch the theme today.
  8. I'm also looking forward to seeing how this project goes... I really enjoy a good restoration project, whether it be old cars, old phones (one of my other hobbies) or old LEGO sets.
  9. Oh me likewise: I have Twi'leks, aliens of whatever species Rench and Kranx are, and the series 3 space aliens (squidman recolors) as well as nagas, orcs and dwarves in the armies of all of my post-apocalyptic factions except the Neo-Confederacy, but that's because the new Confederate States of America is BLATANTLY racist against aliens. Of course that's one of the reason I supported HJ Media Studios' Space Marines project on Cuusoo...
  10. I really do hope that they have some insectoid aliens with this set... I'm always looking to add more diversity to my LEGO setting, and thus far the only arthropoidal alien I have is a modified Crab Guardian from the Atlantis theme. Of course, I never give a toss about who is supposed to be the "good" guys and who is supposed to be the "bad" guys in the official story line, or for that matter, I couldn't care less about the official story line either.... My brother and I were like that even back when we started playing with LEGOs in the 1980's (...it was acceptable in the '80s it was acceptable at the ti-i-i-me...), but I digress. What does concern me somewhat is the fact that, thus far, in just about every LEGO sci-fi theme (excluding Star Wars), the aliens have always been the BAD guys (Alien Conquest, Space Police III, Mars Mission, Rock Raiders, etc), and the humans have always been the GOOD guys. I don't know about you, but that seems a bit speciesist, if you ask me...
  11. Sorry I'm kinda late to this here party, but I was checking the first post and it mentioned a Samurai Bike... Does this mean we're getting another set with Samurai X? If so, then I know which one I'm buying for sure. Also, from the pic in the first post, I have to say that I rather like the new ninja torso designs. They will come in handy for my collection.
  12. Oh yeah, I'm always on the lookout for more potential Aliens and mutants to add to my setting, and from what little I've seen, these look like they would be useful as such... In a similar vein, I used the snake tails from Ninjago with normal torsos and heads to make Nagas, while I used the non-snake tailed Serpentine as Yuan-Ti (those who've played Dungeons and Dragons would know what I'm talking about). Also, as Aanchir and Draik Nova pointed out, this thread seems to be following the typical Eurobricks Forums Theme Pre-Launch thread pattern: I.e. a few preliminary pics get leaked, then quite a few people start complaining how the theme will ruin LEGO forever.... Then once the theme actually hits the shelves, most people actually like it. Depending on how the vehicle chassis work, I would definitely have a use for them in my post-post-apocalyptic setting (can't have a post, or post-post apocalyptic setting without marauding gangs of bandits on motorcycles). I'm just going to have to wait and see before passing any kind of concrete judgement or opinion. In the meantime, I've still got LoTR and Monster Fighters sets to acquire...
  13. While not as spectacular as some here, I've had a few good finds fairly recently.... The first of the two most stand-out ones was as Brick Fair 2010. There was this one vendor that was selling a "build your own minifig" thing (sort of like LEGO Store's minifig bar) for $3 each (hat/hair, legs, torso and head), and I found an old brown classic pirates tricorn hat, one of the original Imperial Soldiers torsos (classic bluecoats), the Adventurer's Miss Gail Storm's head and a Johnny Thunder torso, which elicited a loud "WOOOT!" from me. The second, more recent one was finding a Typhoon Sub from the Atlantis theme and another set for about half the original price at the Great Baltimore Computer Fest and Hamboree in March of this year...
  14. I was thinking the same thing... The zombie driver's uniform is almost a dead-ringer for Mexican-American War US Army uniforms, and I was planning on using them as the front line troops for the Tomb Kings (undead factions) inhabiting the Southwest in my post-apoc scenario.
  15. Thanks for sharing the video, and since I didn't get a chance to reply earlier, nice work on the train.
  16. I couldn't imagine why that would be..... Klingon mind meld, indeed! I wouldn't be surprised if it was title-worthy.
  17. Oh, yeah, and here I had just gone through the Mafia Archives not 6 hours ago to check if any other third parties won a solo victory. That is why the third rule in the personal strategy guide I'm putting together for when I finally have time to actually play EB Mafia is "Don't EVER trust Shadows." (the first and second rules are "Don't tell anyone about EB Mafia, especially my wife." )
  18. Well, when I was younger, I had, among others, the Forestman's River Fortress, the Sea Serpent, Forbidden Island, Caribbean Clipper, the Cosmic Laser Launcher and the 7722 battery train, but gave them away, along with most of my other LEGO bricks in late 1994... I was able to get some of the smaller sets (like the Castaways Raft, Sabre Island, the Cabin Cruiser and Raft Raiders) back two years later when one of my friends, who I gave them to lost interest in LEGO right when I was getting back into LEGO, but he'd already given away the train set.... Man I wish I still had those sets... (even though I was able to get a good price on a MSIB Sea Serpent in 1997 through the immediate predecessor of BrickLink).
  19. Well, I've been following this one as best as I can and I must say that it was pretty epic! Congratulations, Dragonator on the first ever EB mafia third party solo win! I was thinking, going into the last two days that it was going to be another case like Prohibition or the Jedi Temple mafias where the scum was able to co-opt the serial killer and get an easy win, then WHAM! this happens. This mafia was also more entertaining (well, except the last two days anyways) than the last few around here. All the "Harriet Slutter" references gave me a good chuckle, let me tell you.... Also, it seems to me that there's been an overabundance of tree stumps in EB mafia games lately.
  20. Even though I didn't expect this, I'm rather pleased, considering that I was a fan of the original Lone Ranger radio series when I was a kid (one of the local NPR stations had a Sunday evening show called "Recollections" that played all the old 1930's and 1940's radio serials like The Lone Ranger, Sgt. Preston, Jack Benney Show and such). Furthermore, if this series has some US Cavalry troops, even if they are fleshy, I'd be overjoyed, since I can use them for my LEGO setting (along with the small amount of original Wild West LEGO cavalry figs)... Sign me up too! I don't mind mixing fleshies and traditional yellow minifigs... I'd even be willing to split them with Purple Paradox and Teardrop Trashcan.
  21. Those are some nice European-style two-axle coaches and box car... On a related note, I think I now know why prices for green 1x2x3 windows have gone up on BrickLink recently. As for the pic inserting thing... I never use the button above the posting text box... I just manually type (but without the spaces). Of course, I am a bit of a tech geek, so manually entering vbb code comes naturally.
  22. Quite a lovely house for your lovely ladies. The LEGO logo on the roof is a nice touch, and I really like the landscaping.
  23. Well, as promised, albeit a few days late, I have posted some pics of the actual construction progress... Thus far I only have the locomotive and the armored baggage car completed (my Brick Link order arrived today), and a good start on one of the Business Class coaches: Train WIP by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr I've also updated the first two posts with pictures of the completed locomotive and armored baggage car. Now to address a few things: Post-Apocalyptic Fiction.... Wikipedia is your friend. Also, here is an updated (and more refined) version of my Post-Final War map of North America showing the various factions: North America, Post Final War by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr Which brings me to this point: The reason for using steam is that, while most of the railroads in the Federal Republic's core territories are electric, and Biogas/Biodiesel-electric hybrids in the Borderlands (the dashed line territories), the wasteland express has about 1800 miles (2880 km) of virtually untamed, lawless, barren wastes to cross to reach the Federal Republic Exclave of the Free State Redmond, meaning that they needed a locomotive that could use ANY fuel that would burn, be it buffalo "chips", wood (including wood pellets and cactus skeletons), charcoal, etc. The Hunger Games is an insanely popular series of books, and as of 2012, movies... My Avatar is based on the mockingjay pin that Katniss Everdeen, the main character, wears to the 74th annual Hunger Games as a good luck charm, and my sig quote is the standard greeting given by sponsors to the tributes (gladiators chosen by lot) that they are sponsoring in the games. Fallout is an insanely popular series of real-time adventure/RPG games for the PC (and more recently, with Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, PS3 and X-Box 360 as well). Fallout is set in a post-nuclear future where much of humanity survived in giant fallout shelters called Vaults... There are several excellent Fallout MOCs in the Sci-Fi forum. Finally, Rifts is a fairly popular tabletop RPG (well, fairly popular by tabletop RPG game standards) set in a world where a minor nuclear war between two South American nations in 2098 that, due to the massive amount of people dying, causes their spirit energy to re-awaken the Ley Lines that have been dormant since the ancient Atlantean disaster that caused them to go dormant and transported Atlantis to a pocket dimension. The end result was massive Ley Line storms that caused more death and inter-dimensional portals to randomly open up, and various aliens, demons, vampires and other mythical creatures to invade Earth, not to mention re-awoke magic, so you have a mix of high-tech areas (like the Coallition States), high magic areas (like Great Britain), and areas where the two mix (the Techno-Wizard player character class is all about mixing magic and science).... This game, which my friends and I whiled away many a boring hour while at sea when I was in the navy, heavily influenced my LEGO setting, with particular emphasis on the random inter-dimensional portals and both magic and technology coexisting. I hope that clears a few things up. I'm glad you liked the side-mounted tank, though.
  24. I usually don't participate in surveys, but this was too interesting to pass up, therefore, my submission is thus: Animal Battle Pack: Totaling 14 points 1 x Mermaid = 5 points 1 x Monkey = 3 points 2 x Crab = 2 points 2 x Parrot = 2 points 2 x Starfish = 2 points
  25. It seems that some people here are forgetting that there is more to the Post-Apocalypse genre than Fallout... I.e. My setting is more along the lines of Palladium Games' "Rifts" series or The Hunger Games... I.e. a cataclysm that didn't quite affect all areas the same and didn't leave behind a bunch of nasty radiation... As a matter of fact, the current version of the LEGO world that my brother and I started when we were kids is HEAVILY based on Rifts (although Rifts did seem to "borrow" some ideas from Fallout, since the Coalition States power armor and flag looks almost exactly like the Enclave's from Fallout), with a LOT of tongue-in-cheek humor and sci-fi/fantasy references. In addition, the various factions have been rebuilding for the past 40 years, so a lot of the initial scavenger world aesthetic has faded away, with the big exception being the various city states and raider gangs in the Wastes. Anyways, I've got the Baggage Car finished, and have got a good start on the Business Class coach... I'll try to get pics of what I've got done thus far posted tomorrow.
