  1. That panel with all the dials, gauges buttons and lights makes my inner steampunk do a giddy happy dance! This is LEGO mad science at its finest!
  2. So, basically something along the lines of the 30140 ADU Walker for Alien Conquest? (courtesy of Brick Link)
  3. Just Brick Linked a MSIB Jet Copter Encounter for $39, and I also ordered a few other misc pieces parts with it as well (mostly cleared out his inventory of SW Balsters).... Sixoh: Angree Birds triggers the swear filter? That is just too funny!
  4. I'm loving it! GI-JOE A Real American Hero! Those definitely look like some of the vehicles and figures from the old action figure line/Cartoon. Keep up the good work! "....now you know, and knowing is half the battle!" (The other half the battle is red lasers and blue lasers)
  5. Sweet MOC using the basic design of the Futuron Stardefender 200... I always wanted that set when I was a kid, but could never seem to afford it.... My thoughts exactly! I wish LEGO still made some of those printed slope bricks (I'm just glad that most of the ones they still make are readily available through Pick A Brick).
  6. That monkey fighter is classic! Ever since I got my first LEGO Pirate set in 2009 I always liked the monkeys, so its nice to see them get their own fighter.
  7. Congratulations, Annie, you definitely deserve it!
  8. Good job, of course it would be impossible to build in real bricks, using those colors, but it looks great nonetheless.
  9. Nice! All Hail the Frog Empire, long may it rule! I always liked seeing people make Frog Hardsuits, but I believe that this is the first frog-scale tactical starfighter I've ever seen.
  10. I was on TV Tropes earlier today during my lunch break, and one of the pages had the following somewhat relevant list of observations: #1: Loki liked to seed chaos and discord, mainly for the "lulz". #2: Loki was, in fact, a Jotun, which was a type of troll. #3: One of Loki's alternative names was "Flame Hair".... So yup, that means that Loki is essentially the patron deity of internet trolls, however it gets better: #4: Thor was one of the few people who could keep Loki in line. #5: One of Thor's alternate names was "Troll Basher". #6: Finally, his main means of bashing trolls was using Mjolnir, the ORIGINAL Banhammer... Which means that Thor could essentially be the Norse god of forum moderators/admins...
  11. My only issues with non-LEGO building block sets are thus: #1: Quality... Most clones I've seen have really cheap plastic that is completely off-color and does not fit in well with my existing LEGO bricks at all! As a matter of fact, my burning hatred towards Mega Bloks comes from a time in the 1990's when I bought a Mega Bloks military set (and it was Mega, since it used their trademark mini-action figures), and half the bricks looked like they were melted and/or had significant flashing around the edge where the mold came together, making it difficult to build anything properly. #2: Knock-off brands: I don't care if someone else wants to come out with their own compatible brick system, but blatantly ripping off LEGO sets, up to and including using official LEGO artwork on the boxes is a big No-No for me. That said, there are a FEW clone brands that I have had good experience with and will swear by anytime. The first is Tyco.... My parents got my brother and I one of those HUGE Tyco Brick Buckets for Christmas in 1988 (along with the Cosmic Laser Launcher for me and a large-ish Town set for my brother), and I still have a FEW of those Tyco bricks. Even after 20+ years, those bricks have held up as well as, and are virtually indistinguishable from LEGO bricks without looking at the top of the studs. Pity they don't make them anymore. The second is Oxford. Oxford's bricks are on par with current LEGO quality, but are much cheaper (fairly cheaper if you are outside of Korea and have to use GMarket or similar international trading sites to buy them), and getting a new Oxford set is like getting a LEGO time capsule: The large Ship set I got last year had the opening flap like all the old large LEGO sets used to, with windows into the box showing off all the goodies inside (my brother and I would lift up the flaps and stare longingly at the contents of the big sets we couldn't afford back in the day). In addition to this, Oxford also makes old-school 4x4 hinge plates (the ones with the 4 "fingers") that are 100% compatible with LEGO's old-school 4x4 hinge plates (and aircraft canopies that used them), not to mention that Oxford's gray and dark gray are spot-on matches for LEGO's OLD gray and dark gray. Finally, most parts of Oxford minifigs are compatible with LEGO minifigs: You can easily swap arms and hands (although Oxford hand fit REALLY loose) as well as heads (as a matter of fact, I've recycled most of my Oxford figure heads into my LEGO minifig population, along with quite a few of their arms). The third brand that I'll buy, by extension is Kre-O, since most of its bricks are, in fact, made by Oxford. The main down sides to Kre-O are the price, which in some cases is even higher than LEGO, and the fugly Kreon minifigs, which are mostly incompatible with LEGO minifigs. The heads are interchangeable, however (I used two Kreon heads on the ADU troops in my Earth Defense HQ mod), and I actually LIKE the Battleship series Aliens (I used 3 in my ADU squad). Finally, in addition to a few of the clones, I make fairly extensive use of Custom items (i.e. Brickarms, Brick Forge, etc), but all in an effort to ENHANCE my LEGO builds, rather than replace them. So yeah, I admit that I dabble with the Dark Side of the Brick.
  12. Yes, Oxford is a South Korean brand.... Crossmr, our man in Korea was the one to bring Oxford to EB's attention. When I first saw Sluban sets (in the Train forum), I was wondering if they were a legit company or another knockoff brand (like Elighten), since none of their sets seemed to be blatant LEGO rip-offs like Enlighten were. After doing some searching and comparing, it turned out that about 90% of Sluban's stuff is direct copies (down to the box art) of Oxford stuff, but made with lower quality plastic. I'm guessing that there MUST be some kind of price advantage for them to be bootlegging Oxford's sets, but I don't see how, considering the Oxford Navy Destroyer I got last year, even taking into the horrendous shipping and tariff fees I had to pay to get it from South Korea to the US (they almost doubled the price), it was STILL significantly cheaper than a similarly sized LEGO set (in terms of both piece count and overall size).....
  13. Actually it was something along the lines of "Engaging dickscussions" or something like that....
  14. Oh, I wanted to add somthing: Kudos to Tiny Pies R Us for the epic Norse remake of the infamous Air Cavalry scene from "Apocalypse Now"... It made me laugh, particularly Thor's like about how "I love the smell of burning Trolls in the morning! It smells like Hikory!" Also, from what I've seen in the past few Day threads, Scubacarrot should be given his old title back... It definitely suits him better.
  15. Like I said on Flickr, I really love your M-Tron Viper... It brings back many memories of my brother and my LEGO war games (which form much of the backdrop for my wacky LEGO Setting)... This VV is a worthy addition to that theme.
  16. Thanks for the replies, guys! I plan on fleshing out the Skull Clan faction a bit more in the reasonably near future.... Heh, I can see how you could easily make that mistake, since Blacktron II had almost the same color scheme as Futuron, but with slightly more black... The main thing that distinguished the two was Blacktron II using trans Neon Green for ALL its transparent pieces, whereas Futuron used Trans Dark Blue (Mostly the canopies and a few bits) and Trans Red, as well as more white....
  17. Well, I was planning on doing something for Novvember this year, and after about 5 hours of frustration and artists' block, I finally was able to finish my very-own. After seeing some of the ones already posted, I'm almost ashamed to post this here, but I figured someone might like it. I can tell you it was one copper-plated pain in the butt to build this thing, but over all I like how it turned out. I may eventually add more flick-fire missiles later, but here it is for now.... -Begin Transmission- Classification: Secret To: Dr. Bones, Chief Director, Federal Intelligence Agency Subject: Skull Clan Vic Viper Space Fighter Status: Confirmed. Viper Pose by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr Chief Director Bones, as you know, the Skull Clan is one of the most notorious raider groups in the Wastes, somehow able to match even the Federal Dragoons, Airborne Demolitions Unit (ADU) and Lone Star Texas Rangers in combat. Side view by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr Latest intel gathered by our friends in the ADU indicates that they somehow managed to obtain plans and materials to build a Viper Class space fighter. Initial reports indicate that it's armament consists of four blasters, similar to the ones used on the ADU mobile Command center, twin 40mm auto cannons and dual laser cannons as well as at least two Merculite Missile launchers. Top View by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr Attached are photos of the Viper, along with its pilot at an ad-hoc landing pad in a Skull Clan outpost in the Wastes near New Boise. Pilot pic by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr How the Skull Clan has managed to obtain such advanced weapons and materials in the Wastes is still unknown. Even more worrying is where they got the blueprints for a Viper in the first place, since, to the best of our knowledge only the Federal Republic of America and ADU had the plans and production capabilities. We currently have our best intelligence operatives working on finding out. -End of Transmission- I hope you enjoyed my Viper, and the back story. I was planning on making a Viper for one of the bad guy factions in my setting, but was having trouble finding enough parts to build anything in the initial color schemes I wanted to (Red & Dark Bley, Dark Bley Light Bley and Black, or Black and Red), when It hit me that I had plenty of parts in White and Black as well as a TON on trans Neon Green parts. So I ended up dismantling my old Bi-Wing Baron set, the Pharaoh's Quest plane and the one (of two) Spyrius combo pack sets that I still had built up and started building. The end result was basically a Neo-Blacktron II color scheme, which I think fits with the Skull Clan's pilot uniforms (the primary colors of the ground pounders is Dark Bley, Light Bley and Black), and gives the possibility of a tie-in with the Grand Duchy of New York (which is what Old-School Blacktron evolved into in my setting, and they use the Blacktron I colors for their space ships).... In addition, it finally gave me a use for a good number of previously useless parts (namely the really long white curved slope bricks as well as those old wings that they used on the original Adventurers biplanes). I also have two more Vic Vipers in the works that are mods of the Raid VPR Space Police III set, but I'm still not 100% happy with them at the moment....
  18. Wow, that's just amazing! I'm betting it's not very "swooshable" though, with all those 2-point connections, but it looks fantastic, just like some of the crazier Vorlon ships I've seen in sci-fi movies that were partially held together by pure energy.... Yeah, I agree: you managed to nail the M-Tron color scheme with this design.
  19. Excellent execution of the MOC, as most others have said, George Lucas bathing in his pile of money, Scrooge McDuck style definitely pushes it over the top into LMAO territory. ...Of course I'm still wondering how long it will be before Disney comes out with a line of Disney Princess Leia dolls.
  20. Just watched Wreck It Ralph with my wife again today, and bought the soundtrack... I think I'm going to have that "Sugar Rush" song stuck in my head now. Of course, if Disney would ever license an ACTUAL Sugar Rush racing game, my wife and I would SO buy it!

  21. In case you're too afraid to follow Shadows' link (and I'd understand if you were suspicious of any link posted by Shadows ), Magical Girl is an Anime/Manga genre that usually involves, yes, girls fighting crime/intergalactic horrors/random monsters with magical powers that often come with pink frilly outfits upon activating said powers. Some classic examples of such would be Sailor Moon, Akazukin Chacha, Magical Lyrical Girl Nanoha and Kaitou St. Tail....
  22. I also managed to luck out today: I went to the Barnes and Noble in Camp Hill, PA and found that they still had some UFO Abduction sets from the Alien Conquests line left, so I got one.
  23. Sweet, I'm really liking the sounds of this theme now! Can't wait until it comes out.
  24. I normally don't post here, but the combination of Batman and a Vic Viper was too awesome to resist. Really nice Vic Viper design, and definitely fits with the dark blue comic book batman theme.
  25. Would Magical Girls count as super heroes? If so, then I definitely know what I'm going to do...
