That stinks. The way JediNews made it sound led one to believe there would be new sets. I'm hoping that the good sales indicate more sets, because I know a few people that would buy them... Some of those new Prince of Persia figure parts just scream Indy... -darthperson

Great review! Very thourough, you did the set justice! It has become one of my favorite Lego sets, and has some fantastic minfigures. I think the new face for Marion is more realistic and better looking, and the dark flesh color for the darker skinned figures adds a new level of realism to the new Indy sets. I'm hoping for a variety of faces (female too) in this and other colors to make a diverse Lego population... The Cairo minifig of Indy has become my favorite version of him! Thanks for sharing!

I think that the one from 2007 is more realistic, while the older one has the classic Lego feel to it. Its a tough call, but I would say the new one. And I never realized how there was an older set that was nearly identical to the 2007 harbor set... -darthperson

It actually was a theroy, a hypothesis is something that can be tested... I have a feeling (more realistically, a hope) that Padme will be made in Lego before the liscense runs up. I can't believe we have only seen her once so far, she is one of the main characters in the PT. With her playing a big part in the CW, I think its very possible we will see her soon...

Too bad you weren't able to get it when it was on sale at S@H for half off. Bricklink would probably be your best bet, or I think that the newest Creator Family House is primarily tan...

1) See the Dark Knight ASAP. 2) They could end Indy for a number of reasons, including sales, how many other licenses they have, etc...If they ever chose to, it definitely wouldn't be because its too dark. I think a majority of the sets that have been released are based on KOTCS... However, according to JediNews, a Lego rep told them that Indy has strong sales in both sets and Video Games, so both will continue into 2010. -darthperson

Best and worst Lego set of the 2000's
Derek replied to alexrider7's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nice thread. Best- Creator beach house- For 500+ pieces, $30 USD is a fantastic value. While its value in pieces is already great, it is one of the best designed sets in a while. It was an instant classic for me. Worst- Hard to narrow it down, there are quite a few sets I own, but I'm not a huge fan of. Some of these include Exo-force, Racers, Aqua-raiders, etc... -
On that Brickipedia site, did anyone notice this under "Themes introduced or discontinued in 2010"? .I think that this has some great potential...

I think everyone is forgetting the fact that these are just rumors that we are speculating, and we have had NO word from TLC. Considering that we haven't seen any official names, I think that this is a possibility. However, I think its more likely that we will see the Tusken scene... -darthperson

My MOC LEGO Operation Valkyrie Theme Sneak Preview!
Derek replied to Imperial Governer's topic in Special LEGO Themes
No offense taken. While, WWII (or any war) was just horrible, I am still fascinated with that time period and history. I would love to see an official WWII theme, but that's not going to happen. Can't wait to see your creations! -
What parts do you want to order through LUGBULK?
Derek replied to jonwil's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The barbed wire would be a cool effect in a large amount, but there most likely won't be any of the Toy Story parts because they are licensed. All the AFOL's are going to end up with dozens of turkeys, I can see it now! -
A cumbersome thing about 7749 Echo Base I am hearing about?
Derek replied to Imperial Governer's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As others have said, you may not need the baseplate to enjoy the set, I recommend getting one for other uses if you so desire. As for the set, I never really considered displaying it on a bp, but I suggest the style of the set could lend itself to that type of display. I got it a few weeks ago, and I love it. While it may be a little pricier than other sets of its size ($25 USD as opposed to $20 ) its still a great set. The figures are great, as well as the Tauntaun. You shouldn't be disappointed with the set... -darthperson -
At Target (US) this week, selected SW sets are on sale, including the Corporate Alliance Tank Droid which is advertised for $19.99.

This is a nice topic! Its interesting to see everyone's favorites... Here are mine- 10) Boba Fett - While its not completely movie accurate in normal green (Im holding out hope for a sand green version ) Boba is just a nice figure, and looks great with one of the new molded rifles, which he was never officially released with... 9) Yoda (CW) - In my opinion, the original was just bland, whereas this one may be cartoonish, but its detailed. 8) Nute Gunray - I don't have him yet, but I should soon. He's great in minifig form, with the new detailed hat... 7) Snowtrooper/Stormtrooper - These guys are just great looking figures, regardless if they have the coveted "printed legs" or not. Really fun to collect. However, I'm not such a big fan of the Scout troopers, there's just something about them that I don't like too much... 6) Asajj Ventress - Just a badass minifigure with a great head and torso, as well as a nice new skirt... 5) Rotta - My favorte CW character. 4) Darth Vader - Why not? 3) Commander Fox- An obscure clone commander, but looks fantastic as a figure with all that detailed dark red printing... 2) Han Solo - One of the very first minifigures, the new version from recent sets is movie-accurate, yet simple at the same time. 1) Chewbacca- My all-time favorite SW character is nearly perfect in minifigure form. -darthperson

Can't forget Boga. As nice as a Bantha would be, I doubt we will get one, because they never played that big of a role in the movie, they were just in the background. Seeing as we don't get figures of background characters, I can't see us getting a new big molded background animal anytime soon...

Can I join this CopMike/Peppermint team? It seems that more often than not, members on here totally trash new themes or sets. Sure, I myself say when I don't like something, but not if I don't have support for my argument. Just the other day, I made a detailed post in the Ben 10 thread saying how I don't think the Ben 10 liscense is the best idea in the world. But those were reasons that were unrelated to Lego's side of the deal. This is a completely new original theme from Lego. Atlantis is quite clearly a fantasy theme, and I think its totally rediculous how people are here saying that it isn't realistic. I'm sorry if I'm missing something, but I never thought that Lego's main priority was realism, I don't see square, block legged people walking down my street... Sure, nothings perfect, but there's no reason for anyone not to embrace new Lego concepts, unless they have legitimate reason not to. I swear some Lego fans aren't going to be happy, unless they walk into the store and see classic town, space or castle sets on the shelf. Times change, and so do the interests of children, whom many of AFOL's forget are Lego's #1 priority. TLC has test groups of kids to determine which themes and products will sell best. While AFOL's account for a percentage of Lego sales, their main target is the kids. We get our fair share of adult targeted sets, so I wouldn't complain about everything not striking your fancy. And for those of you saying that its a Power Miners clone, maybe it is. I personally like the PM sets, and some of you clearly don't. Perhaps this was Lego's attempt at releasing those styled sets to appeal to everyone. And we have only seen one tiny, blurry picture and some of you are completely dismissing this new theme. Just wait, we will have pictures of the entire theme soon enough... -darthperson

Fantastic review, your videos and GIF images enhanced the wonderful pictures and writing you already have. This has definately been one of the better reviews I've seen lately, and about one of the better sets out there... Thanks for sharing! -darthperson

#1) I doubt that the network executives were on their hands and knees, begging Lego to give them a chance #2) Having Ben 10 Lego most likely won't interest more kids in the show, as it will probably be the fans of the show buying the sets. I just don't think that Ben 10 is hugely popular, and if it was at anytime "popular," it was definately a couple years ago, or at least a few months. I'm not trying to be a downer, but if this theme is in the same scale as Bionicle, it will probably be like Galidor ( ) and will end up being a flop...

I remember making that thread, it was fun! But you probably are right about the sets sounding fake, unless they are preliminary names...

Warner Brothers planning CGI/live action LEGO film
Derek replied to Whittleberry's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Well do you really think that we are going to see an R-rated Lego film? Lego is a family brand, and the fact that its a family comedy comes as NO surprise. NOBODY (except FOL's) would go to see an adult film of minifigures running around, let alone take it seriously. And what about it would be Lego if it didn't have minifigures? I am personally glad that they are making this film, as it will give the company more money to make great products for AFOLs. The film isn't going to be targeted towards adults, as Lego is first and foremost a non-violent children's toy. The reason that films like Transformers and GI Joe were able to be made into films for adult audiences, is because the original toys have backstories that could lend themselves to big blockbuster action movies. It really irritates me sometimes how some adult Lego fans act like they should be the company's #1 priority. For once, won't somebody PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!! -
While I am not in that country, those pictures are new! I like all the figures this year, Im glad Santa is back...However, that is the strangest snowman Ive seen in my life...

While I am expecting just the bare bones for the new fire theme, there is still a possibility that we will see some civilians in these sets. If there is, say, a burning shop or a cat in a tree, it would definately improve the playability for kids, and the display possiblities for adults. Look at the Agents Robo Attack set- that included 3 superb new civilian figures, complete with new prints and pieces. Those were absolutely unecessary for Lego to include, but they did anyway. And with all the civilian sets for City 2009, it would be strange for them to abandon such a good thing. While I am expecting the worst, it seems that Lego has turned a new leaf within the past few years, and they may very well surprise us. And if those Airport sets are for the City line, I am interested to see how they turn out. -darthperson (PS- Piglets FTW!!!!1 )

Im sure that the Megabloks one will be ending soon, when Lego picks it up...

Wow! A whole 3 months! He was quite the hit. I personally find the Ben 10 cartoon to be completely obnoxious. I'm not trying to come into this thread to be a downer, but I really think that it was a poor desicion on Lego's part. (If we are allowed to express out love about something, we should be able to express the opposite, its how this world works ) There are plenty of other of franchises that Lego could have tried to partner with, that would appeal to both kids and adults. While Lego is first and foremost a child's toy, I think that its appeal to all age groups has been what makes it so popular over the years. Even the new Toy Story line may have appeal to some adults that are fans of Pixar, I know a few of them. But Ben 10 is just another cartoon that really has nothing to offer to adults, and will most likely be forgotten within a few years, if not sooner. Spongebob is watched my kids and adults, and has become the arguably most iconic cartoon character of the past decade. I think that its a shame that Indy is ending next year, when this theme is being picked up. Just my thoughts, as I don't recall giving my opinion on the new liscense. Please don't scold me for being a downer, everyone is allowed (and encouraged) to share their opinion. If you have points that can disprove mine, please, by all means do so.

Not necessarily, it just seems to be that way most of the time. There are other themes in which the sets from one release are spread out over a range of numbers. The set numbers are not necessarily idicators of price. Besides, I grew up watching Toy Story, and I must have seem it dozens of times. There are not many large set opportunities fo r the Green Army men, so its probably a battlepack-like set. Lego tends to dedicate the large set slots to sets that would be most iconic, and sell well. I know Lego, and they wouldn't feature obscure characters in the main set, but they would put them in a cheaper set...
