Black Friday 2009 discussion thread
Derek replied to Darth Legolas's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
They only had 5?!?! Wow! My Target had stacks of like hundreds of them last year... So if they have as many this year, I think I will be fine. Just out of curiosity, where do you live? -

What time were you at Target last year? How many ISD's they have left? I'm probably going to get to Target around 7 AM-ish and I am hoping they will have the two sets still in stock. The fact that they weren't too popular to begin with is raising my hopes, but at the same time, I am wary... -
If I were on Facebook, I would not click the "like" button for this one.

I'm pretty sure the voice control is for the iPhone...

Black Friday 2009 discussion thread
Derek replied to Darth Legolas's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Has anybody actually been to Target on Black Friday? How long does it take to sell out of the Lego sets? I'm wondering that if I go around 7 AM if there will still be any left...They don't seem like they are too popular sets to begin with, especially the Indy one. Thanks! -darthperson -
I have the one from the Toy Shop and this years advent calendar, and I was playing around this morning and found that the top half from the Toy Shop looks good on the bottom from the calendar. I don't really like the one from this year's calendar, the broom looks strange and the black jumper plates look really out of place.

Haha! That was cute, thanks for sharing! -darthperson -
I was on Brickset and I saw that Target in the US has stocked a good variety of Impulse sets, including the Star Wars Mini's and Holiday Ornaments... Here is a list of the sets available- LINK Happy Holidays! -darthperson

Target USA 7631 Dump Truck - $15.99 down from $22.99 I think I'll pick this one up for this price!

A green chrome Boba would be pretty cool, and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw one...

Totally off topic, but that had to be the most bizzare first post I've read when opening a thread.

Best and Worst Set: 2009 Edition
Derek replied to Legoliner Pilot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Best- City Camper- A reasonably priced set with great figures and accessories. It was an innovation for City, the theme that always focused on Fire/Police. Indiana Jones Venice Canal Chase- Great set with good parts:piece ratio, and 4 brand new figures. Good playability and just looks great! Indiana Jones Ambush in Cairo- Just a cheap, fun set with nice parts, figures and accessories. Castle Drawbridge- Handsome tower with great figures and a reasonable price. Star Wars Echo Base- Tauntaun. Need I say more? Worst- Very few, I think 2009 was a great year for Lego! SW Hyena Droid Bomber- I'll admit that it was bigger than I expected (That's what she said ) but it was just a weird set that relied on stickers. Did this even appear in the Clone Wars??? SW Home One Mon Calamari Cruiser- This had potential to be a fantastic set, but it was executed poorly. I like the overall playset concept, but over half the pieces (and therefore price) are for the landing platform. It had great figures, but the cons outweigh the pros. It could have been half the price and I would have loved it. IJ Cemetary Battle- I am a big fan of the Indiana Jones line, but as much as I hate to say it, I don't really like this set. The bricks are all basic (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, they were just used poorly) and the set looks awkward. It had potential to be a good set, but unfortunately suffered from bad design. The warrior figures are identical, and Indy and Mutt aren't new. I admit that a new Indy face and Mutt's bike were nice. That's about it -
You're acting as though this is real world history and is set in stone forever! Its Star Wars! Its Fictional! Make up your own Boba face! But you are right, that is very ugly and should be a clone head....

Well they might treat us to new ones in Summer 2010...

Funny! If I was the husband, I would just let the "other man" leave, as long as he took that God-awful blanket with him! -darthperson

...and that is what she said.

HA! I knew there was no Garindan or whatever the hell its called! It just goes to show you how people can "see" things when they are overly wishful and excited... I am definately going to get that Landspeeder, but I have a feeling it will be an exclusive because it hasn't been in any retailer catalogue. I hope it isn't over $25 USD, because anything more expensive than that is robbery for a set this size...

People, people, people. Take a chill. There is no way that that tiny little car is $10. I know Lego is notorious for overpricing, but this is just a little too outrageous to be real. And look at what site this is- Amazon! They always overprice everything! Everything will be ok! -darthperson

I will most likely never see this movie, but I must say that I plan on getting the three smaller sets. I love the descriptions of them, and I am very happy that both of the two animals are in smallish sets! Especially the 2 ostriches! I can't wait for these to be released, I wish they came out in January!

He can't be too major of a player in the movies, considering the fact I have never heard of him before and I just had to look him up on Wookiepeida! I'm betting he is just going to have the standard smiley face, and Lego is choosing to market him as a "NEW CHARACTER!"

Ew. I think I just threw up in my mouth again. Humongousaur 8517 must have the worst piece-to-price ratio ever, not to mention the name. 14 pieces for $18! No thanks!!! Thanks for the pictures, The good thing to come out of this is that I know I have money to devote to other themes...
-
I'm sold on this one, but I think I'll at least wait until the end of November to get it. Oooh! Sounds cool! You could use both of the trees to make one big tree for the center of town. Will you post pictures?

Nice find! I can almost guarantee that this will be merged with the other thread though... That bad-guy Impulse has got to be the lamest ever, in terms of actual set. The mf is !

I was thinking the same thing myself...I think the color looks realistic, and I'm glad Lego didn't go with the stereotypical pink.

I'd say that just about every set over $50 is on the expensive side and a purchase of that size requires consideration. Sure, there are sets more expensive than $100, but it's still definitely on the pricey side. There may very well be a City exclusive in the springtime...
