  1. Maybe it will be the new longer legs from the Toy Story theme? This would certainly be a good and unique use for the piece, which won't have much use elsewhere...
  2. That Atlantis theme sounds interesting. Perhaps we will get some nice ancient buildings out of it (probably not, sounds like another vehicle oriented theme ) Did anyone notice the blue creature with the trident on the right? No doubt this is going to be another Mars Mission/Power Miners type theme, where humans invade the creatures homes and steal their crap (probably crystals again) yet the creatures are made out to be the bad guys. Remember that controversial thread from a couple months ago? -darthperson

    City 2010

After this year, with all the great new civilian subthemes, I was hoping that Lego would stay away from the traditional Fire stuff for 2010...However, Its not too much of a surprise...
  4. No, I remember the list at Jedi News saying TIE bomber. So it could very well be a Snowspeeder, and the source just got mixed up and called it a landspeeder. That's what I'm convinced happened last year. And I think that "snowspeeder" and "landspeeder" would be very easily confused to someone who isnt a SW fan...
  5. Shouldn't we start a new topic for the 2010 Sets and Rumors? The 2010 rumors are mainly what we are talking about now, and this is the 2009 sets and rumors thread. We're going to need one eventually, why not start one now? I'd start one myself, but I thought it would be best to check with KimT and everyone else first...
  6. I definately like the new version better! But seeing the truck from the movie, it also seems like the car from the Raiders Truck Chase set would work too.. Nice work!
  7. At this point, I highly doubt that those are the official set names, they are probably preliminary. Whoever called it "Luke's Landspeeder" must've seem the Landspeeder as one of (if not the only) main components of the set. Seeing as we haven't had any normal small (non-BP) Star Wars sets in 4 years now, I'm sure that the set will be large...
  8. Hmmm. That news on JediNews is bittersweet. As cool (and realistic) as all of those new sets sound, that just sucks that Indy will be discontinued. Here are my price guesses- Battlepacks $10-11 as usual Tri-fighter- $20 Tie-Defender- $20-30 Arc-170 - $40-60 And as Luke's Landspeeder is on the end of the list, it leads one to think it is a larger set. Maybe UCS? Or possibly a Tatooine Playset? That would be cool, but I'm hoping we get a small sized set with the Landspeeder, because I never had a chance to get it, and hopefully it comes with Tusken Raiders, because I missed out on those too...
  9. Congratulations! A much deserved promotion indeed!
  10. I'm sure the same thing was said about Star Wars 10 years ago. I think that Lego would be stupid to cancel IJ, especially if they are making a 5th movie, which will probably have as much promotion as the last one. Even kids who haven't seen the movies would still be able to enjoy the sets, Johnny Thunder lived a decent length of a life, and that line had NO source material. Ok, maybe Indy IS a dying franchise, that doesn't mean that Lego has to be done with it. Maybe if Lego keeps releasing sets until the 5th movie is out, it will stay in the minds of kids and create more hype. There were doubts that they would even do any Indy in 2009, and look what we have gotten . Even if they do decide to discontinue in the near future, I will be grateful for what we had, and what we had was an amazing Lego line.
  11. I hope no 3 year olds play with normal Lego. And you have to admit, some good figure pieces would come out of a Disney Channel line...
  12. While on the frontpage of Yahoo, I saw a link to a list of 100 things your kids may never know. On the list are tons of things that are outdated, such as VHS, floppy disks, etc. I think many on here would be interested in #75...This is actually kind of sad... What do you think of this? Do you think that the basic Lego blocks are becoming outdated, to make way for more specialized pieces and sets? Just thought I'd share this... -darthperson
  13. I'm hoping that the Prince of Persia movie flops for two reasons- 1) The Indy license will have the long, prosperous life it deserves. 2) These sets won't sell, leaving them on clearance! Much like Speed Racer... I hope that this line is temporary, like Speed Racer. Unless it is a mutli-movie franchise, I can't see it living a long Lego life (try saying that ten times fast! )
  14. I knew it was nothing to get excited about. Ok, sure, the dropship is technically a new mini, but its a pretty boring one. The yet to be released BM Gunship is 10x better, in my opinion.
  15. In the thread containing the pictures of the Camel and Ostrich and Prince of Persia figures (look if you haven't seen), some people are already declaring it to similar to the Indy line, and saying that PoP may mean the end of Indy. I'm not familiar with the Prince of Persia, but I know that there is no way that it would be as familiar to the public as Dr. Jones. I would hate to see the end of the Indiana Jones line, as it is, IMO, the best license Lego has ever had (next to SW, of course) in terms of sets and figures. What do you think? -darthperson
  16. I'm loving the little green army men, I will probably get the set with them if its cheap (Hopefully they will be in their own figure pack or something!) As for the rest of the Toy Story figures, I'm not sure. I'm a little wary with the new arm and leg molds, and the one piece heads. I'm hoping that they don't turn this into another Jack Stone, when they can make it a great line. I;m skeptical when they change the minifigure, why change something thats already so perfect? Now, as for the Prince of Persia figures- I think that these figures will go great with some of the Indy ones. I will probably buy the sets even if I don't see the movie, if the figures are this great, I'm anxious to see the sets. And the camel and the ostrich (especially) were totally unexpected, however VERY welcome! I can't wait to see more of the Prince of Persia!!!! -darthperson
  17. The book isn't too long, it just has so much essential material that couldn't be left out, and wouldn't fit in a 2 and 1/2 hour movie. It's really a shame we most likely won't get sets from it, because it is seriously the best book I've read in my life.
  18. Wow! Those 4 and 5 wide cars are nothing short of amazing! I love the use of the smaller wheels, I always thought the typical City wheels were chunky and obnoxious. You made these cars look realistic and compact, yet remain in scale with the minfigures! Great work!
  19. Those are pretty cool tents! The look is acheived with only the slope bricks, very simple yet effective! And Welcome to Eurobricks, nfl_solo!
  20. That's good to know, salty tbone. Where was this Kmart? I'm really itching to get this set, and I just put in a S@H order the other day, it doesn't make sense to do another just for a $10 set.
  21. Has anyone seen the new Indy sets in US stores (besides Lego stores) yet? If anyone has seen them in Walmart, Target, etc, please let me (or us ) know!
  22. As you may have noticed by now, I don't usually post in the pirate forum too often. However, I did start collecting the new Pirate sets that came out this year. One thing that bothers me is that while Pirates is probably one of the best and most promising lines of the year (out of Pirates, Power Miners and Space Police), it has really gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to its promotion. Both PM and SP have marketing campaigns and what not, but there is none for Pirates. Another thing that bothers me is the lack of a summer release for Pirates. Power Miners has a whopping 13 sets released this year alone, whereas Pirates only having 8, 2 of which being tiny Impulse sets. Perhaps this is because Lego doesn't have plans to continue Power Miners for the longterm, and wants to release a bunch of sets this year, and abandon the theme next year, and they may wish to continue Pirates for several years, similarly to the Castle theme. Maybe Lego feels it doesn't need promotion to sell its "evergreen" themes (Town, Castle, Pirates, etc) and wishes to dedicate its advertising to its original themes. However, a 3 or 4 Pirate set release for the summer would have made me happy, as I got most of the 2009 Pirates sets for Christmas and find myself waiting desperately for the next release. So what do you think? Does a lack of sets and promotion mean a short life for the Pirates line, or does it mean Lego is confident in its potential? -darthperson
  23. Thanks everyone! I will remember that for future reference!
  24. In all my time here, I've never even noticed the report button. Could someone please explain to me what it does? Thanks!
