That would be a cool S@H exclusive though! I do have faith in TLC and am looking forward to this house...Hopefully it has enough furnishings, but doesn't have to bee too complex...
-
I don't know... The other colors seem fine, so I think that this one might be new. It reminds me of butterscotch !
-
Why don't you buy one of the cheap sets with two figures in it?
-
Oooo! The Burrow being based on the 6th movie gave me an idea! Bellatrix and Fenrir Greyback could be included as well, like in the scene from the 6th movie (and not the book)! This seems possible because Lego likes conflict in their playsets, and the Burrow by itself is pretty nonviolent )

I just realized that you could buy the Atlantis Wreck Raider and the Manta warrior impulse and get the same exact (probably even better, not crappy quality) figures AND the bricks or you could buy that magnet set and pay more for bad quality...

Haha! I think that just made my life. But really, you hit the nail on the head. I feel like more and more often lately we forget Lego was created, is manufactured and is sold as a children's toy. What I find is hilarious is that this truck stop nonsense is merely SPECULATION and everyone is up in arms and ready to boycott Lego (ok maybe that's an exaggeration, but still). If Lego designers (as well as TRU marketing executives) they must be out of their MINDS if they make a $160 TRUCK STOP Lego set. What kid would want that? And if you are an adult and don't want it, you don't have to buy it, do you? I don't know, but I think that it would be best if we just took a deep breath and stepped back -darthperson

*AHEM* Wasn't the poll on Toys r Us.com and had colorful pictures along with the options? From what I remember it seemed to be aimed at kids... I think that will be reflected in the set we get... -darthperson

Now that I think about it, you're right. Everyone says that, and I just assumed it to be common knowledge. I'm trying to remember, maybe someone heard it from a Lego rep at a toy show or something??? I think you hit the nail on the head with the lack of vehicle based story. The only two sets we got from Temple of Doom were iconic chase scenes, not focusing on aspects such as the heart-ripping, lava-dipping ceremony. I think this supports why we haven't gotten any Order 66 etc. focused sets for SW. ...and a Lego Deathly Hallows game would probably be for me. As much as I love the story and I love Lego, making it funny would just ruin the themes of the story... -darthperson

It's only a matter of time before Lady Gaga is seen in some sort of Lego outfit...

True, Temple of Doom and RoTS were pretty dark, but I think that there is more of a psychological level that is touched on in the final HP books. The above movies were basically dark because they had some pretty evil bad guys, but there is a deeper level that is established in the last HP's. It's hard to explain, but I think anyone who had read it will understand what I'm trying to say. As much as I would love sets from the final installments, I just don't see it happening. I know Lego said it about Temple of Doom, but the Deathly Hollows was REALLY intense. I do hope that we will get a Luna figure in the castle, though, she's one of the most light-hearted and comedic (and one of my favorite ) characters in the story. -darthperson

I'm officially naming 2010 to be year of the speeder. We have- 1)Freeco Speeder 2)Landspeeder 3)The one in the Snowie BP 4)Swamp Speeder 5)Snow speeder 6)Cad Bane's Speeder I'm sure we will get another one or two...
-
Or even 40... I'm guessing that this will be Target's exclusive for later this year, like the Pirate Tank or the Republic Tank...
-
Nice! This reminds me of "The Hangover"
-
Does anybody know which store the swamp speeder is exclusive to? Target? Toys r us? Thanks! -darthperson

I doubt it, I'm sure they would do something more creative, not just a nearly identical version of an existing set

I am too. I loved this movie, and sure, maybe the plot was a bit predictable, but the overall concept is unique (with the Avatar program and whatnot) It really made me think about weather or not humans would actually do this on a foreign planet if the situation presented itself. I think that it could go either way... I also agree that it needs to be seen in the theater in 3D to get the full effect. I was reading an article in Entertainment Weekly yesterday about how over 75% of its ticket sales have been from the 3D version. I think that the effects were phenomenal, and if you wait to see it on DVD or TV, you will lose the intended affect. I have heard complaints about the humans being one-dimensional, but I really didn't see too much of a problem. At its core, its an action/adventure movie, and IMO, that type of film doesn't need complex characters to be great. I think the tree main protagonists (Jake, Dr. Grace, and Neytiri) were great, and brought something unique to the story because they each came from different backgrounds. I think that this movie (which may end up having several sequels) would make a kick-megablocks Lego liscense -darthperson

I agree too...it looks much more beefier and less spindly...

Review: Atlantis Seabed Scavenger
Derek replied to Ratbat's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I got Guardian of the Deep for Christmas, and I think it is a so-so set. The pricetag is fitting, but just something about it just seems to be lacking. I do like its snapping jaw though. I saw this set today at Target and bought it, I think its fantastic. I like the new figures, especially the scared face on the diver ! The Manta Warrior is nice as well. I love this set, everything about it is really slick. A few days ago, I bought the $10 Wreck Raider set, and while it was nice, I just felt that it was overpriced at $10 USD (It should have been priced at $8, like the Power Miners Mine Mech) But with this set, I think the price is perfect. If you see this, pick it up! Its a good starter for Atlantis... -darthperson -
Haha ! My little brother loves Phineas and Ferb, and I like to watch it with him for Perry! Very well done! -darthperson

I just had a nice idea- What if Lego released a huge Hogwarts set, like the SW Death Star? It would have dozens of figures to cover all of the notable characters that would be there throughout the movies. Here is a good starting list- Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Snape, Hagrid, Mcgonnagal, Flitwick, Sprout, Trelawney, Slughorn, Umbridge, Lupin, Gilderoy Lockhart, Madame Pomfrey, Filch, Quirrel, Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle, Neville, Luna, Ginny, Fred, George, Cedric, Cho, and Dobby Its a long list, but I think that would cover a mojority of the characters in the movies/books. The rooms- Great Hall, Chamber of Secrets, Potions, Herbology, Divination, Defense Against Dark Arts, Transfiguration, the house rooms, Dumbledore's office, Room of Requirement, Astrology Tower There would be a bunch of animals and creatures, like Dementors, Basilisk, Fawkes, Filches Cat etc. What do you guys think?

The Kiddiwinks site that whung posted in the City 2010 thread had a list of 2010 Harry Potter sets, with prices to compare to other sets... I am getting excited! -darthperson
-
Thanks whung! I had a feeling that we would be getting a house out of the City line sooner or later! I also noticed on that site " 8683 LEGO Minifigures " and "8684 Minifig - vol 2" which I think are the same price as the minifigure collection from last year! Can't wait! EDIT: Those are the special minifigures that have been discussed forever now. Duh. -darthperson
