Another great vehicle from you Farnheim! May a 4-wide truck look like an intimidating beast? Oh yes! I guess you shouldn't stand in the way of what this whale of a truck blows out! Your photography is really outstanding, too, as you already might have heard! Looking forward for more monster trucks to come!

I really like this. The upside down front is a great idea, and there are some nice curves in it. The backend is very well done, too. Fixing the rear view mirror like this is a nice aspect. The only thing I'd suggest is to extend the wheelbase, at least for one stud. I guess this would improve the proportions quite a bit. Anyway great job! Looking forward for your future car mocs!

Many thanks Solta! Glad you like it. Thanks a lot jamesn! Your comment was quite an inspiration, as you can see Thanks again all for commenting and viewing. It's only a car but it takes some time to get things right. More to come.

Thanks a lot LEGO Guy Bri, glad you like it! Maybe a poll? Okay, this is what might be a compromise. Maybe this hasn't been done before, at least I haven't seen it. Need some custom chrome binoculars, it seems ... Of course, this kind of grille has a strong vertical structure, but you can't have everything ... At least it's considerably wider than with usual double headlights. (Now these are half-pressed-down plates and tiles. Here it is possible since they won't move even if you touch them.) [Edit] A more refined solution: [/Edit]

Thanks a lot jamesn! Very well observed! That's one of the reasons why it's still a WIP. You are right, the lights are already set back. But that's exactly the question: 4 headlights and narrow grille or 2 and a wide grille? If I choose the wide grille, somebody might say "Well, the Impala has 4 headlights, you know ..." So I'm still struggling with that ... Hopefully you don't think I am using half-pressed-down tiles on the outside of a car so that they may be pressed down accidentally ... Anyway many thanks again for your thorough comment, this is what it should be like to be helpful.

Very nice vintage cars Zuntir! I especially love the shape of the cab on the first one (great use of the suicide doors for shaping purposes) and the nice colour combo on the second. Do you have a Flickr or MOCpages account? If so, I'd be very glad to have your cars in the Vintage Cars Groups. Keep up the good work!

Many thanks LT, always appreciated! Thanks a lot Farnheim! Glad you like it, even if it's quite a different scale. It's not the width as such but what you make of it. And there I can still learn many things from you ... Many thanks TenorPenny, glad you like it!

[Edit, 16 February 2013] Another version: Impala Lowrider (the yellow one), see this post. [Edit, 03 February 2013] Picture of the finished MOC, see this post, too: [/Edit] Hi all, another huge American car, still a WIP though. But it might be interesting to see how this will turn out. Don't care about the inappropriate fig, it's just a test driver. The car will be given to a more glamourous fig for sure ... As you might know my idea is that a Lego car should fit 2 figs side by side, so I prefer the 7w building style (although you can do that with a 6w car, too, if it has the thin doors). The car has nearly the same frame as the Cadillac Fleetwood (see http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=78281), but due to the smaller wheels it is possible to have suspension now. There's enough room within the frame for the wheels to move up and down (at the front more than at the back, to be honest). Furthermore the bracket-and-tile building style allows to set down the windscreen to get a nicer silhouette (same with the Caddy). At least in the 6 and 7-wide department there's often a problem to find the proper windscreen. You may use slopes instead, but then the figs can't see where they are going ... Here they can look out properly. Rims are custom chrome, of course. I try to avoid it where I can (the Caddy doesn't have any), but here it's important. C&C welcome as usual, more to come ... Thanks for looking.

I agree, this is amazingly well designed and executed, will probably be copied many times, since it's the way the interior of a cinema of this scale should look like. The additions are great stuff, too. I guess the only reason they didn't do it this way is that it's contradictory to the modular concept - in my opinion this shows how a system with inflexible determinations may strongly interfere with the design of such a thing. There's much empty room in the lobby which could be used much better - as you have shown. 26 seats instead of 6 - that's quite an improvement! The figs will like that since they can take their friends and family to the cinema, too. Anyway great job on this, looking forward to seeing it combined with the set!

Many thanks for the great review Jareth! Now this really makes me happy since exactly this set was the only Lego there was left (apart from two 2x4 bricks) when my dark ages came to an end in 2011, see below. I didn't even know what it was - now I know! Thanks again!

This looks very nice - it definitely meets the style of the Fire Brigade truck! Which is a problem on the other hand, since it's a truck - put a fig besides, and you'll see what I mean That's what the TLG designers tried to do - keep the body low, small wheels and all. So the movie star doesn't have to jump on the red carpet. But since it looks odd to put a usual windscreen on such a flat car there is that tall frontend, which doesn't seem to work with the rest of it. No, just kidding, I know exactly what you mean. Now there's an idea ... [Edit, 18 Jan] Now that my dear friend Philipp (Brucewaynelego-Toyshansolo, thanks a lot!) sent me something special today you might better understand why I think the car is suitable for movie star purposes: [/Edit] [Edit, 23 Jan] Some more pics of the finished car and some explanations. Silhouette: Rear: Interior: Explanations as on Flickr and MOCpages: Built in a bracket-and-tile style. 7w, fits 3 whole figs (1 chauffeur, 1 bodyguard, 1 movie star). Detachable roof, convertible version available. Wheels are spinning. There is a steering wheel. No paint, no custom chrome (so far ...). Sorry, no openable doors. Two things were important here: The existence of suitable whitewall tires (see http://www.flickr.co...er0l/7020251727) and a windscreen that is lowered into the body to get a nicer silhouette. This weakens the structure, but due to the brackets the frame is quite stable and can be used for similar cars at this scale. Credit: Legohippie (tailfins, see http://www.1000stein...y.php?id=241132) Thanks for looking! More pics here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/352356 [/Edit] [Edit, 23 February 2013] Cadillac combined with Palace Cinema: Buildings and most of the figs courtesy of Na Dine. Many thanks! [/Edit]

Thanks antp! There are some improvements (see below) but still some work to do ... Thanks a lot bootz! Well, for some reasons it would be nice to show the moment when the film star gets out of the car . This is what they had in mind, given the fact that there are only back doors. Christine: I can see what you mean, perhaps this is something that could be made out of the red and white version ... Thanks a lot LT! I don't dislike the original car, I must say, it has a style. But it doesn't really match the complexity and seriousness of the building. The car looks like a toy, the building doesn't. But this is a problem throughout. In my opinion there are practically no [Edit]official, to avoid misunderstandings[/Edit] cars at all that go well with the modulars. On the other hand something like this would never fulfill the requirements in terms of parts number, stability (and width ). But we are free to do what we like, and we get all those fancy parts to do so - and that's the fun of it. Thanks a lot jamesn! Er, why do you think so? Thanks a lot LGB, glad you like it. Thanks all for commenting and viewing so far. I'd like to add a photo of the actual state of the MOC. Since there is no PC yet the diner may serve as a replacement. More to come.

[Edit, 23 Jan] Here you can see the finished car, a Cadillac Fleetwood. There are some explanations and some more pics in this post. [/Edit] Hi all, honestly spoken, not yet a MOC but still a WIP. But no sooner there was the idea that this might go well with 10232 Palace Cinema I wanted to share it with you as quickly as possible. The origin of this was the usual struggle with the windscreen height. The idea here is that you get a much nicer silhouette for such a car if you lower the windscreen into the body (you can do that only with a 7w body, of course). Some other issues result from this, but it is possible. This surely has been done before, but maybe not in a setting like this. The car is built in a bracket-and-tile style, this has several advantages. Due to the brackets the frame is quite stable and may serve as a platform for more cars in this style. It fits 3 figs and can easily be turned into a convertible. No custom chrome (so far) and as far as I can see no illegal or especially difficult techniques (except the tires maybe), so it can easily be copied. The whitewall tires are my own design (no paint), tailfins taken from Legohippie, see http://www.1000stein...y.php?id=241132 Alas, no openable doors which is not so nice in terms of a replacement for the original car, but I didn't find a way until now. More to come, or rather "soon in your Movie Theatre". Thanks for looking, c&c welcome as usual. Some more pics: Convertible: An older (three days or so ) version, as could be seen on Flickr). You may notice that the whole thing stays quite low in order not to "dwarf" the figs too much:

Thanks a lot GRogall! I really like it, I must say. Colour scheme is great, and that sign - fantastic. Put a flat roof on top instead of that pseudo-Chinese thing and you have a nice art-deco cinema. Concerning the car: It should be modded, but it can easily be modded. The frontend works for me, it may serve as a guiding principle for the whole thing. I am looking forward to this set!

Very nice city layout bootz! Having a t-junction (instead of a crossroads) as a center is a nice idea - you only need two corner buildings instead of four. The position of the town-hall is well chosen, too. And I like the Christmas decoration of the GE. Keep it up!
-
Very nice. My favourite aspects: the interior and the Ape, which is shaped very nicely. Good luck!

Hi Gabor, nice to find you here! Great to see all your fancy MOCs on Eurobricks, too. Looking at your fantastic RC Citaro I must say it rather deserves a separate thread, considering it allows anybody to have a fully functional remote-controlled articulated 6-wide (!) bus in their Lego city. And it's not only all those functions - the design with all those upside down techniques is amazing, too. Anyway, it's all top-notch stuff, looking forward to your future creations!

I commented on this before, but the comment was obviously deleted in the breakdown some weeks ago. Now that I have seen the real thing I may say that it even looks more awesome than on the photos. I especially love the color scheme and all those asymmetric aspects which make this building a real city landmark. The flying witch is a nice addition. Great job on this, looking forward for your future creations!

Thanks a lot King Aragorn and Man with a hat, I'm very glad you like it! Thanks again all for commenting and viewing, this is far beyond my expectations. Merry Christmas to all of you!

Thanks a lot Captain Flint! Thanks a lot Kristel, glad you like it, especially the details! Yes, there is a fan, too. 2.0 will take some time though I hope to be a little quicker than with 1.0 ... Many thanks L@go for your very nice and thorough comment, I'm very happy about it! Glad you like the detailing, too! At first I found it quite difficult, but then I had more and more fun with it. Sometimes seems a question of rather doing it than thinking too much about it. The possible combinations (e.g. regarding the colours) are abundant ... Once again, thanks a lot! Many thanks mrlegoman, glad you like it that much! Sure. Thanks a lot Commander Red Hat, glad you like it!

There are a lot of great ideas in here, all of them are looking very cool, the blue one being my favourite. Keep it up!

The shaping is gorgeous, and I love the low stance of it. Great job on this, keep it up!

Let me just repeat what I already said on MOCpages: This is another of your very well designed and tasteful creations, I like them a lot, as usual. Both versions look great. I think my favourite aspect is the lower part of the front bumper - this is quite an elegant solution and refines the silhouette a lot. Concerning the mirrors I was just thinking if two "Hinge Plates 1 x 2 Locking with 1 Finger On End" between the windscreen and the jumpers might work here ... I was actually missing the amazing Road Rail Truck, but in fact it's not missing (see the tagged thread below ). Looking forward to your next MOCs, keep up the great work!

Thank you very much CallMePie. Well, you are right concerning the colors. Glad you love the details, too! Many thanks TheLegoDr! Glad you like it. Gas pump: You're welcome, looking forward to your station MOC! Thanks a lot LEGO Train 12 Volts! Glad you like it, especially the jukebox! Many thanks all for commenting and viewing - and Merry Christmas to all of you!
