Thanks a lot LEGO Guy Bri! Glad you like the furniture, too. They were designed some months ago, now they are put to a suitable use. Thanks a lot for your thorough comment Nathan. It's very helpful again. Glad you like the whole thing as such! Concerning your points of criticism I agree with you in nearly every aspect. Hinge bricks: The whole roof is not exactly what I wanted but probably it will be changed anyway. Napkin dispenser: You're right, the old style clip light - found it in an old Classic Space set I came upon, didn't know it before. Lamps: I agree, but this can't be changed because of the necessary ceiling beams. There is indeed a ceiling fan. Palm tree: somehow turned when photographed but it's okay for me, perhaps the palm trees in such places aren't always as cared for ... Of course version 2.0 will take into account the mentioned aspects - cars and the people in and around them are the main thing here. Many thanks again!

Thanks a lot JopieK, glad you like it! Thanks a lot Andy! Glad you like all the details and the rod. Roof and base: not quite the same since the roof consists of two halves, put together with two technic liftarms. The floor has a lot of "bricks 1x1 with stud on one side" to fix the walls, of course. Many thanks Alasdair! Well, one step at a time ;-) My first tries on this (there were many) were not successful because I planned too big. So I concentrated on a few aspects which I thought were most important. My personal opinion on this special subject is that toilet blocks are not that interesting unless they are the setting of a shooting or something ;-) Anyway I should take a closer look to them, thanks for the hint! Many thanks Wedge09! Thanks a lot Henrik, once again. I'm very glad you like it since you are the undisputed master of this period. BASIC??? You can't be talking about your Googie style station with that marvelous roof, definitely one of my favourite creations from you. This is the stuff we all learn from, at least I do ... Many thanks Solta! Glad you like the diner and the details - and the rod, of course. Always nice to be an inspiration, looking forward to your rod! Thanks a lot LT! Well, a building is a lot bigger than a car, I quite underestimated this. A lot of room to fill, something that has never happened with the cars. So there must be some detailing ... Oh yes, it's quite a square-built Fonz, but there's definitely the hairstyle! Many thanks Dan! Glad you like the details and the sign (first try at lettering, but it worked better than I had thought). 2.0 will take some time, but hopefully I'll be a little quicker than with the first step ...

Hi all, some of you might have seen this already on Flickr or on Brick Town Talk but I thought it might be of some interest so I decided to upload it here, too. This is the first step of a bigger project which is meant to feature the cars. This part (I've called it "ER0L's Garage 1.0") consists of a 50s style Diner with a sign and a small gas station (rather part of it). And there is a new Rod, too, which is called Baby Blue. The project will be continued, but since this part took such a long time (being my first non-automotive stuff) I rather won't tell any details. I'll add it here when there is a "2.0 version" or something There are some traces of different stuff ("Cars", "Friends Park Café") in it which I tried to melt into something new. It's not meant as a design study, but as a functional thing - something being used by minifigs. That means that if there is a barstool they must be able to sit on it - even if more beautiful barstools can be imagined. The diner has a detachable roof and a detachable back. The main point here might be the slanted columns to get a 50s appeal. Surprisingly this can be done without stressing the structure in any way. Some details: Wurlitzer (refers to several known designs, but the upside-down front is probably a new aspect) “Cars” Bar with snotted napkin dispenser (own design) some "Cars" furniture which I designed some months ago V8 Diner sign (own design, the V8 idea is taken from 8487 Flo’s V8 Café, but modified) another sign above the entrance door gas pump (bracket-based, rather looks like something already known, but I couldn’t find an exact reference) The fridge is taken from 10197 Fire Brigade (slightly modified, I couldn't think of a better design), the bubble-gum machine from 3061 Friends Park Café, just like some of the little things a diner needs. Some more pics: The Rod named Baby Blue is based on the Vintage Truck (see http://www.eurobrick...25#entry1416045), but turned out to something quite different. The main point here is the sun shield which is fixed with some upside down technique inwards. Using the red crowbar as an exhaust might be a new aspect, at least I haven't seen it before. That's about it so far, thanks for looking, C&C welcome as usual. Pics are linked to Flickr, some more pics of the rod you can find here.

Great LDD MOC monsinjor! This was done within one day? Impressive. I love both the interior and exterior. I don't know why exactly but it reminds me of some of the buildings on Museum Island in Berlin. Great job!
-
Thank you Dapper-D2! Thanks monsinjor! Glad you like (or love?) them LT! Nice to hear that from you L@go! Thanks a lot Curtis! Many thanks JopieK! Thanks a lot Dean! It's nice you are using the smooth tires - in my opinion the profiled ones aren't suitable for a vintage car. Looking forward to the finished MOC! Thanks for your nice comment Dutch Guy! Actually I didn't change its width - and this one is still longer than the original truck. (Honestly spoken you can't close the back gate any more, but that's quite easy to fix ... I'm glad there is a gate at all! ) Thanks a lot solta, nice to hear that from you! Many thanks all for commenting and viewing!

These are some really nice vehicles Sunder! I love the shapings (which are quite original) and the color combos. Great idea for the grille of the red one. Love the vintage cars, too. Does a fig fit in there? (If you have a Flickr or MOCpages account I'd be very glad to have them in the Vintage Cars Groups.) Great job, hopefully we will see them all brick-built (although the editing is fantastic)!

[Edit, 10 October 2018] Note: This thread is discontinued. If you're interested in more cars of this kind please join me on Flickr. [/Edit] Hi all, this is the second batch of the vintage cars series (more vehicles to follow). I have moved the last one (not yet indexed) to this thread. So the first thread (see http://www.eurobrick...opic=73182&st=0) contains 9 vehicles now. #10: Vintage Truck (Gangster Version) A simplified version of the more colourful Vintage Truck you can find here (#9). The presentation is strongly influenced by the amazing work of LegoManiac over on Flickr. Here you can see the vehicle in action. Don't ask me what's all this stuff, I don't ask them either. More pice here. #11: Vintage Fire Truck No openable doors, no detachable roof, no suspension, no steering - but a nice steering wheel and column ;-) This started as a mod of the fire engine from Fire Brigade 10197 but ended quite differently, although I have kept some details (e.g. the ladder). I really love the original truck but it didn't fit within the other vintage cars. I am not too fond of this kind of fenders, I must say - but since it's a truck the height is okay, I think. Couldn't think of a different solution here. Credits to Lego Fire Museum (http://www.mocpages....lder.php/106210), some inspirations) and BigBoy (http://www.1000stein...myimages/bigboy, use of the gray tires). More pics here. Thanks for looking, c&c welcome as usual!

Thanks a lot danthaman11! Funny - I just ordered quite a few dark green parts ... Thanks a lot Solta! Many thanks harnbak! Glad to hear this soccerkid6! Thanks a lot Lasse! Yes, I agree ... I'd like to add another photo which shows some steering details of the truck. Might be interesting for some people, especially truck or tractor builders. Many thanks all for commenting and viewing! The series will probably be continued ... [Edit] Just forgotten one thing, not a vintage car, but anyway: There is a new LDD file of the 7w cop car I built last year (see below). MOCpages fellow Dean0Rama has made it (thanks a lot Dean!), and it is great, even the height is right now. If you are interested you may download it here. [/Edit]

No, a hotrod looks like this:
-
#8: Bugatti 35C (1926) One of the rare black ones. Fits 2 figs. I'd like to add a photo of a combination of a CC building with a vintage car. When building it (my first ever CC building) I was overwhelmed by the complexity and tastefulness of the whole thing. But I wanted to have something more in an Art Deco style as a background for the vintage cars. So I took away all modern additions from the building and also the arches which rather hide a very nice and large glass facade. There are some more small changes, too. It's only a first approach to this subject and still a WIP, though. #9: Vintage Truck 6w, fits 2 figs. Openable doors, detachable roof. Rear suspension (very basic, a flexible axle). The main point here is the "bucket handle steering" which allows the wheels to be steered simultaneously. The sticker is from a Cars set (cut). More pics here: http://www.mocpages....moc.php/344560" Finally a street scene with the Vintage Truck: Thanks for looking. C&C welcome as usual!
-
Wow, you've designed a very stylish Art-Deco news stand! I like the colour scheme very much.
-
Thanks hazrdone! Yes, that's a nice idea, but since I don't own a lego city there will probably be only some street scenes. Purchased my first CC building some days ago, though, so there will be more of a surrounding ... Thanks solta, glad you like this one, too! Thanks steelwoolghandi! Wow, this sounds cool. Are there some photos of your set? I am very interested in things like that. Don't hesitate to use some ideas, looking forward to your versions! Thanks Henrik, means a lot coming from a car builder of your skills! You did comment on #6 on MOCpages, so that's fine for me. Concerning the tires: There are tons of the black ones to be purchased on BL, the grey ones are quite cheap as well, but some in a bad condition, since they are from the Sixties. I have probably halved the market of the grey ones in Germany recently, that's why I can build some more vintage cars ... Thanks Dapper-D2, nice to hear that! In fact there are no cars meeting the complexity and style of the CC buildings. But for some reasons I doubt there will be a line like this - one of them being the difficulty to squeeze the figs into cars as low as these. I'd be glad if there was a re-issue of the Indiana Jones sets since I don't own any of that stuff ... Again many thanks all for commenting and viewing! [Edit, 27 September] Okay, there is another version of the Cabriolet in red, so that I think it's justified to consider it as a new MOC: #7 Vintage Cabriolet [/Edit]
-
Thanks a lot, glad to hear that! Thanks! Well, it's rather meant to be a 30s car. Seems rather difficult to find the correct english term for a car like this - after 1930 it's rather "pre-war" than "vintage" ... Anyway, "vintage" seems to be a known term. Thanks, glad to hear that! Hopefully there will be some more vintage cars soon. In fact there's already a new version, but since it is very close to the Coupé I don't consider it to be a MOC in its own right (rather #6a): Vintage Cabriolet Again many thanks all for commenting and viewing!
-
#6: Vintage Coupé/Runabout Fits 2 (Coupé) or 3 figs (Runabout). Detachable roof. Mother-in-law seat (Runabout). The main point here was to create a roof that fits the figs underneath and is stable enough to be detachable. Credits to Hot Rod (http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/339630, headlights) and BigBoy (http://www.1000steine.de/1000steine/myimages/bigboy, use of the antique tires). More pics here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/341259 C&C welcome as usual, thanks for looking.

And here are the results of, er, ER0L's voting: 2. TheKingOfBuilding - 2 (originality of the build) 7. Pencil_42 - 2 (playability, set look and feel) 9. Oky - 1 (same for Oky, but since it's got no wheels ... ) A tough decision since there are some very nice MOCs in the contest. Good luck all!

Thanks a lot SearchFunction! I am looking forward to it! Glad you like it Venunder! Thanks a lot Charlie! Now there's an idea ... Thanks again all for commenting and viewing! I think it might be better to have all vintage cars in only one thread (there will probably be some more), so I put them all in here. In the first post I will indicate which of them are already indexed. #4: Vintage Roadster "The Oldtimer" (INDEXED, has its own thread, see http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=70842) #5: Vintage Sedan Fits 2 figs side by side, detachable roof. The idea here was to leave the fenders as they are to gain some room for the spare tires at the right place. It was SearchFunction (see http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=73442) who showed me how 2 figs can be placed in a 6w car when using the old thin doors - so it was worth a try. Due to stability requirements the figs must be seated on the second level, but the whole thing still can be kept quite low. Some details: C&C welcome as usual, thanks for looking. More pics here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/339604

Many thanks SearchFunction for taking the time to answer my questions so thoroughly! I see that I should take a closer look to LDD ... Thanks a lot for the photo, now I am convinced that this really works when using those doors. This means the figs can't be seated on the baseplate, though, which makes the car at least one level taller. But it looks great anyway, I like it better than the first solution. Thanks for the link to the Video of Masao Hidaka, too! I didn't know it - his solution looks very sophisticated. It doesn't solve the problem, though, since the arms of the figs are above the "doors" - like in the Vehicle Base 6 x 5 x 2. This might work well on a convertible, but not on a closed car. Again, many thanks for sharing your solutions and thoughts about this crucial (at least in my view) aspect! It's very inspirational - like your awesome MOCs themselves!
-
Wow! A fantastic batch of cars, SearchFunction, very good-looking and packed with great solutions! I have taken a close look at them since this is very interesting in terms of what I am trying to do myself (and you have been a strong inspiration before, as you know). But let's face the details of some of them: Police Car - very good-looking car (and nice figs, too ). I especially love the backend, looks very sporty. Thanks for the reference to my cop car (btw. they have the same height, apart from the signal lights on top). I can't see exactly how you did the baseplate, it seems that the figs are sitting on a 5w construction, the doors are sticking out a bit, so it's rather 7w in this area. Might be not too easy to handle this offset in terms of connecting the cockpit to the wheel section. Anyway a very spiffy design! Blue Convertible - again a very neat and sporty design! I love the way you combined the windscreen and those doors, works surprisingly well. You couldn't keep it that low as a 7w because of the offset needed - that means one more layer But here I would really like to know how you managed to make the figs sit side by side and how stability is provided, since I can't reproduce that. I assume the black part we see is not the baseplate, right? Maybe an upside down plate, and figs aren't fixed? - I like the following two very much, too! When everything is low like this, even the smaller wheels work well. Police 4-seater - fantastic vehicle! Again a whole lot of great ideas to keep it smooth and practical at the same time. Easily one of the best 4-seaters I have seen so far. Awesome solution for the roof! Again I am wondering about the way the figs are seated, stability is mainly provided via the baseplate, I assume. Pick-up Truck - a very appealing design, this could easily be a set. I love the way you tilted the whole thing. (This windscreen is really versatile - it even works here!) Stickers for the doors are allowed here, I think Truck - top-notch, too. All the proportions work very well, everything is in the right position. A truck like this couldn't be less than 8w. Really a gem! Again, wow! There are some fantastic inspiration in this batch! Sorry for being this curious about positioning the figs in the cars. But if I was able to build a 6w car that is low, stable and easily fitting 2 figs side by side - I'd give up the 7w idea instantly.
-
Haha, amazing! I love the way you made it look like a dog itself - a pug, right?
-
Wow, a fantastic creation! Really amazing to put all those functions in such a small MOC and to keep it this good-looking. I especially love the adjustable steering wheel - and the rectractable roof, of course! All the other details are very cool, too. Last not least the presentation with animated GIFs is fantastic (the moving wipers are a funny idea ). Two questions, though: Does the roof move when there are figs sitting in the car? It seems that in this case the seat backs must be adjusted, too. It may sound stupid, but I keep wondering how two figs can be placed side by side in a 6w car. I can see it's possible - but how do you do it? Anyway, an amazing, very inspiring MOC, thanks for sharing!
-
Thought I'd might be late to this party, but obviously I am not Again an awesome bunch of vehicles! It's obvious that you have created a special L@go style - nearly each of this vehicles can instantly be identified as your creation. To keep things short (since you can't comment on them all), again a list of three favorites: The Lorry - very original design with a lot of great shapes and an amazing color design. Not many builders would combine blue, black, white, brown and gray parts in such a small MOC - very inspiring. Afterlife Express - bursting from great and funny ideas, you didn't even forget the suicide doors. This could easily be a set - I'd buy it. Threewheeler - it's just perfect. The color combo is really cute, and I like the way you hide a part of the grille to fit the size of the MOC - this is something I am thinking of, too. Of course, all the other vehicles are great, too, especially Rally Car II, Sinister Surfer and Blue Eagle (I agree with Thomas Selander concerning the truck, though). Looking forward to the next bunch!

Thanks a lot vagrant! Many thanks solta, glad to hear that from you! Thanks a lot Wedge09! Thanks a lot Phred. - This is exactly what I was thinking of, thanks again! Many thanks all for commenting and viewing!

V-LV-50C Thanks a lot TenorPenny, glad to hear that! Many thanks lightningtiger, I know what an AWESOME from lightningtiger has to say! Looking forward to the result of your close look! Thanks a lot Groovemeister! Thanks a lot TheLegoDr! Sorry, no instructions. But the build itself isn't that complicated. Maybe I can make a partial breakdown to show the crucial sections, but this will take some time. Thanks a lot Curtis, glad to hear this from you! Again, I would like to add another version of the "tilted fender concept" - a four- (or rather three-)seater with a different front section. In my opinion it shows that the concept is much more versatile than the ski versions. More pics you can find here. Thanks again for looking.
-
V-LV-50B Thanks a lot LegofreakKO345! Glad you like it. The flag was the only part that came to my mind to close this section. Thank you very much lowbike1! Very glad you like it! Thx LegoJalex. Thanks! The bumper is not my own idea, though, I first saw it on Matt Brown's fantastic 20's American LaFrance Pumper, but it's already used on the vehicle of the 10197 Fire Brigade. Thanks! Thank you very much soccerkid6, concerning the bumpers see above. Many thanks Lego Guy Bri! Thanks a lot L@go, very glad you like it! Why I don't like using the hinge tile on this type of cars: There is a moving part where there should be something fixed. The hinge adds too much to the height where a low silhouette is needed. The main issue here is that you already need 3 levels above the cockpit to get the steering wheel in the right position. The step between hood and cockpit shouldn't be too tall. (I have seen your new cars and will still comment on them.) Many thanks viracocha! Hopefully you got it, if not, just ask. Many thanks Ferrik! I you are interested in vintage cars, please check out the Vintage Car Group on Flickr. I would like to add another photo of a more specific Rolls-Royce Phantom Convertible with a folded hood on the back and some minor changes.

V-LV-50A [Edit] List of Vintage Cars in this thread: Vintage Speedster [iNDEXED] Rolls-Royce Drophead [iNDEXED] Vintage 4/3-Seater [iNDEXED] Vintage Roadster "The Oldtimer" [iNDEXED] Vintage Sedan [NEW] Vintage Coupé/Runabout [NEW] Vintage Cabriolet [NEW] Bugatti 35C (1926) [NEW] Vintage Truck [NEW] The 2nd batch you can find here: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=75904 [/Edit] Hi all, technic skis work well as fenders on vintage cars, but unfortunately the skis don't exist in black, so certain rather elegant types of vintage cars can't be built with them. The idea here is to tilt the mudguard (new type) section of the car to get a relatively smooth fender line. I've called the first type "Vintage Speedster", the second is - in spite of the missing "Emily" - clearly a Rolls-Royce, even if I don't know if exactly this type of bodywork existed. But there will be some more versions of this type of vintage car anyway. C&C welcome as usual, many thanks for looking. More pics of the Speedster you can find here.
