  1. Great stuff - awesome shaping, instantly recognizable. To tilt the headlights like this is a great idea. I like the way you managed to fit two figs in, too. A very appealing MOC, thanks for sharing!
  2. Really a great MOC with wonderful details. It's colorful, but in a very convincing, harmonic and lively way. That door is really epic! It's also very nice to see the fantastic verhicles of mijasper and Misterzumbi (IMHO two of the best vehicle builders you can find at this scale) in such a stylish surrounding - they add still more coolness than it already has. Awesome Garage, I like it a lot!
  3. Since squeezing figs into cars is something I'm struggling with all the time I think I might add something. Since this is an SUV I think there is enough room even with a lowered roof. If not, there's still some ground clearance you can use by lowering the ground plate or putting the figs into 4x4 frames or something. I shot some photos of a quick build concerning this problem. I know, other problems will result from this, but in this way you'd get a flat-roofed, very mean looking H2 - this is what it's like IMHO. My thought upon this is that when you try to design an existing vehicle you've got to decide what the most important characteristic parts are and to drop the less characteristic since you can't cover them all in such a small scale. If you don't do so people won't recognize the vehicle. In my view the flat cab is one of the most important characteristics of an H2. So I would prefer lowering the roof than keeping an angled windscreen (which in fact isn't that angled). But, as already said, this is only my point of view. Anyway I like your H2 very much, with or without a lowered roof
  4. Very nice build, I like it a lot! There are some Hummers H2 at this scale, but you added all those functions, which is very fine. That opening hood is awesome, and I like the visible shock absorbers which provide for the right look here, besides the pipes. My only point is the height of the cab - but I know that this is difficult to solve. Spencer R uses 2x2 trans slopes with his H2, Constantine Hannaher 2x1 trans bricks. This rather "cuts off" the cab, but if you look at the MB version IMHO that's just what it looks like. Anyway, a great MOC, hope some day I will be able to build something like it. Thanks for sharing!
  5. Thank you very much, prateek, glad you like it! Concerning the T-Top a quick change is possible, since the t-structure rests beneath the roof - only the 1x6 tile at the windscreen has to be put off. I agree that the MOC itself looks much better without those headlight covers - they are meant as a rather ironic quotation of the Cool Convertible and - as bootz put it - of the "Barbie Car Style". I like the idea of a black interior, maybe I will give it a try with another version. [Edit:] What I didn't know before is that there are obviously at least two, maybe more types of "Barbie Vettes" - all pink, of course. At least, the color has changed ... [/Edit] I would like to add another (hopefully the last ) photo which shows that the Vette is slightly lower than Steph and Olivia, even with the roof on top (14 layers, 13 without the roof), the studs on top neglected. I think this aspect is quite important, at least concerning a sports car. But this is the limit, I suppose, given you don't bend the figures or you manage to build the bottom of the car out of turned around tiles or something. Or at least I don't see it, somebody will have a better idea, I guess. Thanks again for commenting and looking!
  6. Thanks a lot, Leg Godt Gud, much appreciated. Very glad you like it. Concerning the colors I wanted to somehow quote Steph's Cool Convertible but couldn't bring myself to use that turquoise (although I tried ). Thanks a lot, Legogal, very glad you like it. Yeah, mall or racetrack, that is the question. Thanks a lot, Bootz, always appreciated, very glad you like it. Those were exactly my thoughts upon this, the "Barbie Look" included! I tried to use some turquoise parts of the Cool Convertible (which I like very much as such), too, but here it didn't work out. Thanks a lot just2good, very glad you like it. Many thanks dr_spock, I appreciate your comment very much! Thanks a lot, JackJonespaw! Glad you like it. I can tell that the girls feel quite comfortable under the roof. It's a sports car after all Thank you all very much for looking and commenting on this MOC, it was fun to build another Vette for a different purpose. The MOC was quite a success on MOCpages, and I was very pleased to find it blogged on Lego Car Blog. I would like to add 2 more photos which might answer some questions. The first one shows that Steph and Olivia can look out of the windscreen, the second shows the different cockpits for figs vs. friends in comparison from a bird's-eye view. Again, thanks a lot.
  7. V-LV-54F Hello all, I wondered what has to be done to make my 7w cars fit for friends. But it turned out to be rather difficult to change the existing cars since there must be a lot more room inside of them (because of the hairstyles mainly). So I built another Corvette with some proper modifications. It turned out that the dimensions as such do not change a lot - one more layer is needed to fit Steph & Co. under the roof. The cockpit had to be designed completely new, of course. So the MOC itself is less important here, but when you look at the pictures you will see that Steph and Olivia have enough room inside the car. There are no seats of course (none of my 7w cars have any, because they add to the height which often turns out to be a problem). Photos are linked with Flickr. Thanks for looking. C&C welcome as usual.
  8. Not to be misunderstood: The sign itself is absolutely awesome, the combination of the two different styles is really great, I like it a lot - it adds something special to the whole thing you don't find very often. But since white is used mostly for the "brickish" parts of the building there is a slight irritation regarding the material of the sign. That is why I suggested to change its color - to rather strengthen its character, since it is meant as something metallic, I guess.
  9. WOW! Really mind-blowing! I must say this leaves me quite speechless, it is definitely one of the best CC buildings I have seen so far - very massive yet beautiful. The details are amazing, too - using the helmets like this is very ingenious. My only point - if ever - is the sign of the limo service - in my eyes this is rather an art deco detail than late 19th century style. Maybe a different color to rather strengthen this aspect than to weaken it? Anyway, I am quite envious - I think I will never be able to build something like this.
  10. Great, KingOfBuilding! There are some Veyrons at this scale, but I haven't seen any with the grille part used like this so far - you did an awesome job there! (Still, I'd rather omit the 2x1 tile that covers the hinge, if possible.) What I really like as well is that you have kept it as low as possible. In order to get an impression of the silhouette of the whole thing - would you mind to add another photo with a side view? Some other points: I suggest doing something about the color design at the sides since this is another typical aspect of a veyron (and doors of course, but that's me ). Regarding the back I agree with Prateek. Thanks for sharing! I am looking forward to many other great minifig scale cars from you!
  11. Nice, but I think it is still too tall and too short. It is a Vette without doubt, but rather in a cartoonish way. What about the wheels and the hinges (see questions above)? Anyway, thanks for sharing. (First I thought about suggesting a new thread, since this is a different MOC from somebody else, but since DrNightmare has flown off into space I think he doesn't mind. )
  12. WOW! Now this is still better than the hover Manta Ray I suggested! That's the real DrNighmare stuff, I'd like to watch the movie they will shoot with this one. Will there be a Mad Max in Space, too?
  13. You have designed a nice Vette here, it is beefy and nicely curved, I like it a lot. The color design is great, too. But concerning the proportions there still seems to be something to do as well. If I look at the picture of the real thing I get the impression that a Corvette Manta Ray is one thing above all: extremely flat and low. I think DrNightmare has done a better job here so far, especially at the frontend. Another point is the distance between the wheels which seems too short in terms of a Manta Ray (they don't spin this way, do they ?). And a third point, rather a question: The solution with the hinges at the rear is nice but did you manage to fix the curved slopes there? If so, I would very much like to see how you have done it (jumper plates?). Anyway, a nice build. Looking forward to seeing the end result!

    MOCs: ER0L's Cars

Thanks a lot, exis, sorry for the delay. Thanks Maik, always appreciated, sorry for the delay. Thanks a lot for your hints concerning the color scheme and the front design, it seems to be much appreciated (turned out to be my most successful MOC on MOCpages so far)! - Well, it is kind of a mixture between the two types since it seems very difficult to me to design bumpers that go well with the design. Either way it is meant as a C3. Thanks again! Another pic of the Vette, now with some chrome which in my view goes very well with it: Now a new one, another classic car: #8 Ferrari 308 GTS It is partially based on the first supercar, so that it was quite fun to build (other than the Vette). Doors are openable (sadly you can't see it here; more photos on MOCpages). Credits to Sabby M. (use of panels as doors) and to Legohaulic (use of the technic axle with stud at the rear end). Both was quite important here. The pop-up headlights (already used with the first supercar) are taken from somebody I don't remember, sorry. C&C welcome, thanks for looking! (@bootz: If this one screams Lamborghini to you, I might get a problem with the next one! )

    MOCs: ER0L's Cars

Thank you very much lightningtiger. Very glad you like it. I would like to add a photo of the Corvette frontend with some modifications suggested by Farnheim: Thanks for looking!
  16. I like it, there are many excellent ideas in it and you definitely have a unique style which fits the extreme design of the Manta Ray very well. As you already said the proportions can still be improved. There is quite a limitation concerning the length in comparison to the dimension of the wheels. Maybe the stability issues can be solved if you fit in a strong middle beam (which can be even 2 wide here instead of 1 in a 7 wide). I am looking forward to the result (and to more 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 wide Vettes ). Keep up the good work!
  17. Thanks a lot for this awesome and very thorough review Rufus! The trailer looks quite nice to me. Concerning the car I agree with lightningtiger. But I must say my favourite here is your 7 wide car It would be interesting to see if you could combine it with the trailer (not in terms of width of course but concerning length and height) since the set car seems rather small in comparison to the trailer. Anyway, thanks again for the review!

    MOCs: ER0L's Cars

Thanks a lot escortmad79! Thanks a lot L@go! I am very glad you recognize a progress. Glad you like the Vette, too! I must say I like making original designs very much because you can work with the pieces in their own right more than with something existing. But I will try to build a favorite classic car every now and then, simply because I love them and it teaches you much about proportions - or color design, which is something I must improve Thanks a lot bootz! I admit that the rear can be improved but there are quite a few limitations. But I will work on it - this is not the last statement in terms of a Corvette. Thanks a lot Dr Nightmare. Glad you like it! I don't know if it is archetypal - I think there is always a different solution. I am looking forward to your Mako Shark! Glad that this is an inspiration.

    MOCs: ER0L's Cars

V-LV-55A to V-LV-55C Hi there, some new rides in the showroom which I would like to present to you: #5: Muscle Car - Rallye Version I wanted to test the variability of the Muscle Car design, so there are some variations, more are about to come. There are some modifications concerning doors (1 level higher), mirrors (had to be changed because of the different doors) and the rear end (now suitable for LDD). There are door sills now to make the car look sportier. #6: Muscle Car - Convertible This is more or less the cop car minus its roof with some modest modifications. 1000steine user Dirk1313 has made an LDD file of this one (roadster.lxf, with some modifications), he then ordered two of them in a race version with Design By Me (cabrio2.lxf, still available) and had much fun with his sons building them - which gives me much pleasure! Here you see the result - they look very nice and shiny IMHO (Photo: Dirk1313). Too bad that Design By Me is about to stop. #7: Corvette Same wheelbase, different ride: a classic. The frame has been improved, so that there is more room left inside the MOC. As a result you can open the trunk, too. Honestly spoken building this one was quite a pain in the a**. You must accept that there are some compromises to meet in this scale, and it took several days to get something you didn't want to throw out of the window at once. But when a friend of mine saw it (still very colourful, no doors etc.) and spontaneously said "Oh, a Corvette!" I knew that I was on the right track. For sure there will be some chrome parts with this one and hopefully some more colorful versions. More pictures at MOCpages. Many thanks for looking! CC welcome as usual.

    MOC: Snow Plow

Hey Maik, nice to see you here! IMHO this is definitely one of your best MOCs. Even a snow plow can be beautiful if it is built like this, all those functions are really awesome. As I have already said in my eyes your photography ranks among the best you can find in the whole brick universe, this little scene would be suitable for any Lego catalogue. Looking forward to seeing more MOCs from you here! Greetz
  21. Big like! I especially love the color and above all the roof line from the windscreen to the rear end - you just nailed it. Really awesome!
  22. stefauster is a German builder. He is informed about the abuse of his MOCs: http://www.1000steine.de/1000steine/forum2/forum_entry.php?id=237168 I will tell him about this thread (via 1000steine.de, I do not have his e-mail address).

    MOCs: ER0L's Cars

Thanks a lot DrNightmare! I appreciate it very much. Hopefully I will be able to modify it by myself some day ... Anyhow it should always be mentioned that it is the result of your hard work, not mine. Thanks a lot Hikaro, glad you like it. Here's another photo to compare the different sizes - I am sorry, these are the only stock Lego cars I have. At least I had them, they have quite changed their width now Again, thanks a lot to you all and a merry X-mas!
  24. Awesome! A nice and very convincing design.

    MOCs: ER0L's Cars

Thank you very much lightningtiger. I am glad you like it since it was you who suggested a muscle car. Thank you very much _bIG_fM_. I appreciate your comment very much since I strongly admire your work. Thank you very much L@go, appreciated as always. Glad you like the design. The following photo shows the dimensions quite well, I think. The driver sits lower in the 7 wide than in the 4 wide - it can't be lowered any more. Of course 7 wide means that there is a certain length to keep the proportions well balanced. But since the stock 4 wide in my eyes is quite lengthy in comparison to its width, you still don't get the impression that these are totally different universes of scale - although you wouldn't put both in the same setting, I think. At least one thing can still be done: omitting the mudguards to get a "real" 7 wide, so that hopefully the wheelbase can be shortened. Something to work on As I already said I am very impressed by this. This photo hopefully shows what is still missing: The wheelbase is as simple as a 12 x 4 and a 12 x 1 plate. The most important detail is the strong beam (at least 2 levels) in the middle (quite an advantage of a 7 wide) who stabilizes the whole thing. Thus you don't need a strengthening at the sides, the doors can move freely, there is nothing under them. Furthermore you need quite a pile of jumper plates to switch between 6 and 7 wide parts of the car, of course. Of course I would like you to share it - not with me, but with everyone who likes it. But that is your own decision. Hopefully the combination of your renders and the photo helps - or at least inspires others to build 7 wides. If there are questions left they can be discussed with Flickr - in order not to expand this thread too much with details. Thank you very much TheLegoDr, I am very glad you like it. I am looking forward to your own 7 wide car! Thank you all for looking and for commenting. I had much fun building and discussing these cars. Merry Christmas to all of you!
