Thanks a lot Waaltje. In fact I didn't know this before - it's quite a coincidence! So let's just remember John/Jake as the iconic comedian and musician he was. I guess whereever he is he might be putting a band back together. Thanks a lot Sean M. Keeping the cars low to not "dwarf" the figs too much is another important aspect I try to observe. Thanks a lot Oran, always appreciated. - Well, no, I'm just a participant of Marcel Urbanijas 6 (and 7) studs wide police car contest on MOCpages I recognized too late that this might not be considered as a police car at all. Listen to what Officer Mount says when pursuing the bluesmobile: "We are in high speed pursuit northbound on Cortlen Avenue. Black and white 1974 Dodge sedan with Illinois plates. Request assistance." Thanks again all!

Awesome crane! Transforming or not - it is a City style crane if it can be used as such IMHO. Its transforming abilities are a great addition. The design of your crane is very smooth, functions are awesome. My only point is that the crane arm does not rest on the roof of the cab. There surely is a certain reason for this, but how about something for this purpose behind the cab? Anyway, very nice work, I am looking forward to the finished crane!

Very nice! The lift is really great, I like the combination of Technic and System stuff if it is done in a convincing way like you did it. Nice use of the baseplates, a great idea, too. Keep it up!

I would like to say that I think this is really a great design. The whole thing is very well proportioned IMHO - even the windscreen (which probably would look odd with a sedan) fits very well here. I especially like the front and - above all - the hood. This is something you probably can't do with a 7-wide car or else it will get too tall. The sloped rear end is very well designed, too. Keep up the great work!

Many thanks Dakar. I think L@go has put it right (in Jake's words) as far as the Illinois Nazis are concerned. The car itself hopefully doesn't run over anybody. - Yeah, you are absolutely right, those plates are great, especially for odd-wide cars purposes . Thanks a lot BrickBrackBlock! Thanks a lot Allos! Many thanks to all who commented and looked! Hideho!

Thanks a lot KingOfBuilding, I didn't know this. Btw. the worn look of the custom stars is a custom thing, too. But something has to look worn here, otherwise the car is much too shiny, since I have no used parts at all. (That's also the reason why I omitted chrome here which in fact goes very well with such a car.) Thanks a lot lighthingtiger, appreciated as always. Yeah, we all seem to share those memories. So this was really a fun and also a musically influenced build. You've just caught it, MadManMingo! This is exactly what Jakes gesture expresses: "Hit it!" Thanks a lot danthaman11, always appreciated. Very glad you like its shape - it took some time to get the proportions right (the roof was the main issue here, the first versions looked quite different ). Thanks a lot L@go, always appreciated. There's no doubt that you are a huge Blues Brothers fan And you caught Jake's gesture, too! Concerning the chase I will try to build another car - probably not the Winnebago in the first place. For something like this I would have to develop another platform first which will take me some months as you might know . Thanks a lot Legocrazy81, glad you like it. Fitting in at least 2 figs is an important part of my approach to vehicles, same for the doors. This reduces your possibilities concerning the color design and requires quite a different frame, but I don't have the heart to present a new vehicle to my minifigs - and they can't go for a ride or even enter the car by themselves!

Thanks a lot 5150 Lego! Glad you like it. Thanks a lot HIGHWAY PATROL! The grille is nothing fancy - I used this technique with Steph's Caddy already (it's an old but official Lego technique). You just stack some 1x1 plates together - the gap is made with a fingernail. The studs keep them fixed nonetheless - they don't move. Thanks a lot KingOfBuilding, glad you like it. The stars are custom made - they belong to some Xmas glitter stuff. I don't know if there are official stickers like this - if you know (or somebody else does) please tell me.

Hi all, I think you all know the following lines about one of the most famous movie cars of all times: "It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters, so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say? Is it the new Bluesmobile or what?" My version of the bluesmobile is 7 studs wide, has 2 opening doors and a detachable roof. Fits 1 Jake and 1 Elwood (with hats, which is the most important thing!). There are some fantastic Bluesmobiles already (I’ve probably seen them all ), but - hopefully - no 7 wide Bluesmobile fitting 2 minifig Blues Brothers so far. So it was worth giving it a try. Many thanks to Nils O. who gave me an important hint concerning the bullbar which looked odd in the first version. Thanks for looking. C&C welcome as usual. Photos are linked with Flickr.

Very nice car, I really like its silhouette. Front- and backend are great, too. The hood has a nice offset, and I really love those small wings. Very good photography, too. Keep it up!
-
I won't add anything concerning the sliding door - it's obvious that this is really ingenious. I would just like to express my enthusiasm for the design of the van. You nailed the shape of a Jumper - with just a minimum of parts, put together as if they were made for just this. This is what makes a great design IMHO. Keep it up!
-
There you got me! (Still your solution doesn't even allow one minifig to sit accurately behind the steering wheel, does it?)
-
Chris did an awesome job here, but IMHO your conversion is very well done, too. Having the grey stripe (the ground plate?) in this position rather adds to the very stylish appearance of the whole thing, same for the position of the wheels. Very nice, I like it a lot!

Very nice Land Rover! Some of the details work very well IMHO (spare tire, white roof, use of the hinge at the back end), some less so (wipers, headlights), but it has an appealing overall design. One thing I am not quite sure about, I must say: Fitting two seats in doesn't mean there is enough room for two figs - if there was TLG would probably put more than one seat in their 6w SUVs
-
I like your Ferrari - not as much as your Porsche I must say which IMHO is really an awesome design (I've commented on it, I think). The Ferrari has got a very nice silhouette. It is sleek and low, and it is red! But I am not so sure about the switch between 5 and 6 here. The 4w windscreen works very well with the Porsche but here it seems to narrow IMHO. I think if the car was 6w as a whole and if you choose the 6w screen it might look a little better. I guess other problems would result from this, as always. But it's just my point of view. Anyway, great work, and keep them cars comin'

Oh, haven't seen this before. Thanks a lot Oran! Well you know that I like your vehicles very much, too - and if I look at the way people commented on your MOCs here it rather seems to me I've got to learn something from you. I don't know where your white convertible is right now (have the impression I have seen it here, too) but hopefully we will get to see it again since IMHO it is one of the greatest designs of a 4 wide sports car that exists. And I am not talking about the chrome Thanks again all for commenting and viewing! [Edit] Still something to add. There is a new 7 wide cars group on Flickr now. Check it out - you will find some fantastic vehicles there (and I am not talking about my own stuff). It is still growing, of course, but there are already more 7 wide cars builders than I had ever thought. We are looking forward to new members! http://www.flickr.com/groups/lego7widecars/ Thanks all! Really an awesome gas station. A typical danthaman 11 design: great color scheme, very neat, shiny and extremely well shaped - just like your cars. I like it a lot.
-
A fantastic bus with a very convincing design. That frontend is really a piece of art. I like it a lot!

Thanks a lot lightningtiger. Glad you like them. Getting a rating like this from you is quite an honor, I appreciate it very much. Thanks a lot BrickBox, glad you like it! In fact this is an old, but official technique which I know from the motorbike sets 393 and 394. We boys spent a lot of time to get the cylinder heads right. I don't know if it was used in later models. Thanks a lot Brickmamba, glad you like them! Thanks a lot danthaman11, always appreciated. Glad you like them. Usually I am not so fond of customizing Lego, but concerning wheels I make an exeption. A car like the Caddy would just look odd without white wall tires and some chrome. At least all the parts are original. Glad you like the Vette most - this indeed was the most challenging build so far. Concerning colors I must say I would always like to build some more versions in different colors but then I rather build another car . I just need the time since I am a very slow builder. But I've just added photos of the two different Friends Vettes to the last post - they are also color variations, if you will. Thanks a lot all for commenting and for viewing!

This is exactly what I think: Wouldn't it be better to leave this thread as it is and post some MOCs from time to time (dealing with more or less the same subject - convertibles, semis, trucks etc.) than having a mega MOC thread which has to be edited AND of course to be answered by oneself (otherwise it wouldn't move) - simply because it's easier to handle? It was very nice of Siegfried to put all the posts into one topic but I think we can work it out how to post in a suitable way. Not that I am an EB pro, but I think I can give a little advice - if you like me to, Oran. Only a suggestion, of course. Cheers, Marcus

Hi all! Something already known and something new to add in this 7w cars thread. The following Vettes have their own threads: #9 Stephanie's Cool Corvette Thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=65590 #10 Heartlake County Highway Patrol Thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66403 Now something new: #11 Gran Turismo "Rih" Derived from the Muscle Car, but with a fastback. Since I wanted it to be black (including rims) I called it "Rih" after a famous blackhorse from a novel. I wanted to get a maximum of shaping here - no color to disturb the lines. You decide if I was wrong or right. #12 Stephanie's Cool Cadillac Some glamour for Heartlake City - another car from the "Stephanie's Cool Car Series", but with a completely new frame. So I had to learn quite a few things again. Main inspirations from mijasper (overall shape), Misterzumbi (overall shape, fin design) and derjoe (tile snotting technique). The white wall tires (can't do without) are customized. You will see that there are no special Friends features any more with this car. It's fun to play with them (see "Cool Corvette") but I rather think about how to create a more realistic Heartlake City (at least as the vehicles are concerned). It turns out that the 7w car style fits the minidoll scale very well IMHO. Now Steph needs some boulevards to cruise on! C&C welcome as usual. Thanks for looking!

Thanks a lot, MetroiD. Glad you like it. I started with my 7 wides (mainly inspired by danthaman11's fine cars) earlier, without knowing about friends. But it turns out that 7 wide cars are quite suitable for the Friends scale, I think. If you look at the fantastic Friends creations of Shuppiluliumas or Mark Stafford and a lot more great builders you get the impression that there is something very inspiring in this subject. So hopefully there will be some beautiful trains too (sadly I won't be the one who will build them ). Thanks a lot lightningtiger, always appreciated! Glad you like the doll, too, since this is really an amateur's work, if you compare it to the dolls customized by the real artists in LegoMyMamma's Flickr Friends Group. Thanks a lot JackJonespaw. Glad you like it. At the moment this is not so difficult since there are only a few Friends cars I think this will change quickly. Thanks a lot for your question EM4CZ. No, I'm afraid, since this can't be considered as a MOC in its own right. But there is no secret, you just see what it's like. You've just caught it! I omitted the "440 cubic-inch-plant" and wondered who would guess the quotation (I'm afraid there is no cigarette lighter at all but I will fix that ) Glad you like the ride! Thanks a lot _bIG_fM_, always appreciated. Yes, I must say I am quite astonished myself - you can build a Vette or a Van with it. Thanks a lot Dreamweb. Glad you like it. Yes, I think so, too. Thanks a lot Artifex! Glad you like it. Yeah - if you look at the different Friends MOCs you see that we all have our own idea of what Heartlake City could be like. If we put all this together Heartlake City will probably become one of the world's most vibrant boomtowns

Inspired by LegoMyMamma and EM4CZ who started building some emergency MOCs for Heartlake City. I thought they might need a highway patrol, too. The car is a modified Cool Corvette, of course ("cop motor, cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks"). Steph is my first customized minidoll, inspired by the work of Mike the Maker. It's very simple, I know, but it's just a start. She has a cap, too, but doesn't wear it (the hairstyle, you know). I added a little scene, inspired by Senator Chincilla's contribution to Marcel Urbanija's police car contest on MOCpages. C&C welcome as usual, thanks for looking. Will Friends still be Friends? "It's you, Olivia! Where's Thomas?"
-
Now this is really awesome stuff - why build each new MOC from scratch when there is already a functional and goodlooking base you can use? I had a similar idea with my 7 wide cars which use exactly the same wheelbase. The pick-up trucks themselves are designed very well, too, they look sturdy and nice! I must say I am not so fond of combining those wheels with those mudguards since they have quite the same diameter. How about the new mudguards? I think they would fit very well here. Anyway a very convincing system you have developed, I like it very much!
-
Very nice conversions, I like the way you play with the subject! My proposal upon this is the following, if I may add something: The uniforms still need some work, though!
-
I like it! Very nice job on the frontend and windscreen here. Keep it up!
