  1. Great stuff! I love such combinations between Technic and Town things. Looks very functional and playable. I like the idea of having a portal axle also in this size - don't think I have seen this before. What I'd like to know: Is the suspension as such functional? Btw. the passengers of your unimogs frighten me a bit. Doesn't seem to be their usual job ...
  2. There are lots of Jeeps, by searching for something like *lego 6 wide jeep* in the Google image search you'll surely find something. Set 76003 has a nice jeep which can easily be modified though I haven't built it yet. It has that nice cockpit part that allows to seat 2 minifigs without problems.
  3. Thanks for the link. Maybe I've seen it before but I wouldn't have noticed the similarities. Now that we can see the original creation (which in my view is quite impressive, especially regarding the fact that it's already 4 years old) it's easier to estimate the idea behind your version. Even though it seems to be more simple technique-wise it still looks good. In any case I think this is something that can be worked on.
  4. As already said on Flickr some months ago I really like your 1920 Moon. It's well proportioned and could be used as a base for quite a few nice vintage cars (at least a convertible or a runabout). There aren't that many vintage cars with spare tires at the sides. My advice would be to either build this one in real bricks or at least render it. By building it there would be the opportunity to replace those "offroad tires" by the older smooth ones which make vintage cars look twice as good. Also the old grey tires would probably look quite good here in combination with the chosen colour scheme. It would be kind if you could provide a link. Of course I'm always interested in such things.
  5. The layout looks nice! On the other hand my impression is that by combining the designs of several vehicle builders (which you should name and reference in my opinion, otherwise people might think that the vehicles are your designs) in one rather small layout might cause problems of scale. An example: The yellow truck in a Thomas Selander design (see http://www.flickr.co...N03/5377961341/) is 6w. Thomas Selander is using quite a small scale indeed. Search Function's 4 Seater Police Car (originally black and white, see http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/341085, blue and white in your livery) is what I call 6w+ due to the mudguards - that means wider than the truck. Freddie's Cadillac (see http://www.flickr.co...03/12158487983/) is even 8w - that means 2 studs wider than a truck which doesn't make sense even if it's a full-size car. There are even more examples of this problem in your layout. So my advice would be to find a suitable scale first and then try to build vehicles and buildings that might go well with each other - otherwise there'll always be the impression of inconsistency in a layout.
  6. Thank you very much, this helps a lot! Now, when somebody downloads this whole bunch of vehicles from the provided link on MOCpages - how does he actually know who's the original designer of what? I'm just wondering if it wouldn't be better to separate the several models in order to keep things clear. The following is just a suggestion, it's the way I handle such things: If somebody has rebuilt one of my models in LDD and asks me if I agree to upload the file (which is kind because he could even do it without asking me), I usually agree by telling him that I'd like to have the file named in a special way. An LDD file of the Corvette as an example can be downloaded under the file name "corvette_design_by_er0l_ldd_by_albert_kleinstein.lxf". Thus everybody who downloads the file knows who has designed the model plus who has made the LDD file. Of course on MOCpages this isn't possible since MOCpages renames LDD files. The file name only contains your MOCpages ID so that after downloading the user might have difficulties to assign the models to their original creator - e. g. when he wants to use them within a town layout. But there are other download sites on the internet where this is no problem.
  7. Could you please provide links to the original creations (especially to ScotNick's MOCs) so that we can compare and better evaluate your part? That would be very kind of you. Plus it's nice for the creator to get a backlink as a reference.
  8. As long as you keep it for yourself (unless you don't modify it in a recognizable way) I've got no problem with that. Btw. "your" Mafia is just a combination of the - slightly modified - car taken from the Indiana Jones Shanghai Chase set and the figs usually taken for such purposes, probably with third party weapons. There isn't much of yourself in it. But let's hear what dreadnaught2005 tells us first. [Edit, 7 March 2014] Sorry for the following, but I guess it speaks for itself.[/Edit]
  9. One question, before I answer your question, dreadnaught2005: Does the "2005" in your Nick mean that you are born in 2005?
  10. Sounds rather unintentionally funny. Why PMs? Because they are ashamed to show their concern publicly? Come on ... Since you're not allowed to publish them here, you can't prove anything by saying that. After seeing it built I'd say it's still more uninteresting than before ... if that's possible.
  11. This looks promising indeed! The roof is very well done. But what I like most is the sheer size of this. A drive thru of that dimension would even fit the full-size cars, I guess. Combined with some surrounding and a parking lot this will be a small city of its own. Looking forward for more to come!
  12. Great stuff, congrats on your first modular! I've been to Lille last summer and I was blown away by the beauty of the city. Your MOC reminds me a lot of it. I especially love the colour combo on the facade and the interior, of course.
  13. New Bug? Difficult enought to build an "old" one ... Anyhow your impression is wrong. There are quite a few builders, even active here, who build great modern cars - danthaman11, Search Function, solta, Gabor Horvath, to name only a few. Should be easy to find their threads. If a van built in our scale can be identified as a Mazda or a Chevy is a different question - in fact nowadays I often don't recognize the brand with real cars either ...
  14. Have you thought about Cuusoo? Now that would be the best cross marketing thing ever: a set made by a fan from the *own* cult movie. Just joking. Great stuff, I like it.
  15. To be honest, I had a feeling that this will happen from the beginning ... If you're happy with that kind of stuff I've got no problem with that. It's just completely uninteresting here.
  16. I was just wondering if there would be a similar effect when using the old 9 Volt lights which have a warm glow, too. With that, third party parts could be omitted.
  17. Thanks for the link. Looks great!
  18. Very nice, looking forward for more to come! They're all to be seen in the Flickr Vintage Car Group, some of them even got blogged.
  19. Good point Aanchir! Just because a Crown Victoria is a large car it's my idea to not build it in a 6w but in a 7w scheme. I've taken the following pic last September to show that 6w and 7w vehicles might go quite well together. You can see a 6w Roadster, the 6w car from 10232 Palace Cinema and a 7w Ford Crown Victoria (which only fits 2 men in black, alas). Of course there's the perspective but the 7w Ford doesn't look completely out of scale in my opinion. My idea is that this widens the range of proper widths to be used in a town layout.

If you are building cars for minifigs there must be enough room for them - otherwise it's something else. In fact you are mutilating minifigs because of some stripes on the roof. You know that there's something like a Minifig Rights Movement, don't you? Hopefully they don't get to see this ...

    Ford Shelby

That's easy. Figs must be placed on the lowest possible layer of the car.

Ah well, for 3 years I'm squeezing minifigs into cars, and I can assure you: No, you needn't do that.

Looks great! Yeah, that would be fun if we could build such low cars with minifigs fitting in. Which means that you must have taken off the legs of the driver to get him in there. Is that correct?
  24. I don't quite get this, I guess. What exactly is the effect of the LEDs? Are third party parts required for this?
