Impressive! The detailing of the facade is just top-notch, I especially love the upside-down elements and the tiled frames of some of the windows. The protruding pool section is the icing on the cake. If there is a lighting - will you show us that, too? I'm always interested in that subject. Anyhow amazing job!

And another one, a Lamborghini Gallardo Police Car ("Polizia Stradale" - I just didn't have the proper stickers in Italian):

Thank you very much! Some more horsepower: This Ferrari 458 GT2 is not just the above version with some stickers applied but a new car with quite a few modifications. More pics: Thanks for looking, more to come!

Great collection of cars, I especially like the GT 40 which has a really nice shaping but of course also the new Viper with its low stance, aggressive design, and snotted sections. In my opinion the smaller SC versions better meet the requirements of City builders. Looking forward to more SC and other cars from you! Btw. I've founded a group on Flickr, see https://www.flickr.com/groups/legospeedchampions/ and already invited the Viper - maybe you didn't recognize. Would be nice to have the Viper (and of course the other SC MOCs) in the group.

Thanks LT. Well, fortunately I haven't scrapped my road plates yet ... Actually I'm not planning something larger with this, but maybe you can build small racing scenes with that nice stuff from the other SC sets.
-
Great little building, very stylish as usual! I especially like the facade (though shouldn't the fish look at each other?), the lettering, and also those nice wall panels - guess I haven't seen something like this before. Great job!

You bet! Some new pics: Group shots: Figs looking good next to cars - rarely to be seen ... The platform all cars are based on. All very simple: Bonus pic: The P1 with proper rims: Thanks for looking, more to come.

Well, it all depends on the surrounding. I guess the main thing is that all elements of a layout or a scene fit well together. Another City Scale Speed Champion: We cannot only turn Speed Champions into City scale vehicles - the opposite direction is possible, too. As you can see I've modded the 60053 race car by adding the SC canopy and adjusting the proportions. The platform is exactly the same as on the other City Scale Speed Champions.

Thank you, I guess there will be one or two more ... Well, he's right! Nice modifications, it does look better, especially with the spoiler. Anyway, in my opinion the SC mudguards and wheels (which are great as such) are too large for passenger cars - that's why the Speed Champions are looking tall and narrow instead of low and wide, as sports cars should. That's why I opt for smaller wheels and mudguards. In any case all those parts, but especially that nice canopy, widen our possibilities. Welcome to EB, btw.!

Thanks a lot LT! Of course there will be more. Thank you! Looking forward to your Speed Champions conversions. Some more pics: Ferrari LeMans together with the Checker Taxi Cab. You may spot the low profile of the sports car - something that's always striking when you see a supercar cruising in the city between other vehicles. Plus a new Town scale (6w) Speed Champion is finished: Thanks for looking, more to come.

Speed Champions Alternates 2019: Speed Champions Alternates 2018: Speed Champions Alternates 2017: (Model by Kenny Burns) Speed Champions Alternates 2016: Speed Champions Alternates 2015: Hi all, I'll put all the SC stuff into this thread, otherwise things might get a bit confusing. As already said the Speed Champions are quite inspiring for City car builders - mainly because of the new parts coming with them. Here you can see a comparison between the already presented 7w+ Ferrari LeMans, the McLaren P1 from the set and a new MOC, a Ferrari 458 in 6w+, maybe more suitable for City builders having smaller vehicles in their layouts. More pics: Main point here was to keep the car as low as possible - it's much lower than the cars from the sets. The Ferrari fits one whole minifig driver with helmet but is considerably lower than a standing fig. Wheels are customized in order to use those nice new Speed Champions hubcaps (as already shown on the Ferrari 308 GTS): Of course there will be a racing version with Speed Champions stickers, too. Thanks for looking, more to come.

You're welcome. If you're talking about the 9V lights - TLG has stopped using them 20 years ago or so. Nowadays we have PowerFunctions LEDs which are very nice but aren't as suitable for house lighting purposes. Anyhow we as AFOLs aren't dependent on what is produced nowadays - we have BrickLink to purchase whatever we need, no matter how old the parts are.
-
The old 9V "Light & Sound" lights (see http://www.bricklink...P&catString=123) give a very nice, warm light. I use them by just putting them in, powered either by a battery box or by a train transformer. There are those nice bricks with cable cutouts to lead the cable into the building. Examples:

Thank you very much! Of course I know that sound. Probably won't ever forget that ...
-
Thank you! Wide and low - in my opinion this is what a supercar/race car is supposed to look like. The new SC mudguards are very nice but you need at least one layer more to cover the studs. Thanks a lot LT! Now there's a version with stickers applied (see the new main pic above). More pics: Plus I've built a completely legal version with spinning wheels which I've called Ferrari LeMans Evo. As you can see the new SC wheels may be combined very well with the larger Town mudguards. Alas there are no red mudguards of this sort, that's why this version is a little more colourful. Thanks for looking!

Bigger than 60061? Thank you! There are lots of different opinions on that subject. I guess it's more important that a builder has a consistent system for his own MOCs. Thank you! Thank you! In my opinion 8w is too large for City vehicles which can be seen when combined with modular buildings and road plates. A crash tender like the Faun on the pic above may be 8 studs wide. Of course you don't get a real scale with all those restrictions, but a graduation between different types of vehicles. Sorry about the missing Q, I'm really embarrassed. Seems to be the second mistake on this truck (the first were the rear seats placed in the wrong direction ... ). But I admit that I don't have an idea what you're talking about. Could you please explain that? Glad you like it!

Thanks a lot! Since I used the canopy from the set it had to be a Ferrari. But I can absolutely see the similarity with the Audi Avus Quattro. I've tried smaller tires already but they don't work here. Anyhow the car is low enough, I guess. Since there's no shortage of custom cars in my City this will be something for the race track once the car has got its racing setup. Thanks a lot, glad you like it!

Hi all, as expected the Speed Champions are an interesting subject for minifig scale car builders. This MOC could be called a design study - wheels don't even spin. It's 7 studs wide (7w+ because of the mudguards) and fits one driver. When I was building the Speed Champions Ferrari 458 (probably my favourite Speed Champion) yesterday I was wondering if the car could be modified a little to get a lower, wider, more aggressive race car look. This turned out to be impossible (at least for me), so I built a new car by using some typical SC elements, especially that nice Ferrari canopy. When I realized that the wheels don't spin anyway in combination with the usual Town mudguards (as already said, the SC mudguards aren't usable on passenger cars in my opinion) I opted for a slight steering - which looks quite nice when such a car is on the racetrack. Guess I shouldn't give up my road plates too quickly ... Later I'll try to apply some of those nice stickers of the 458 Italia set. More pics: Thanks for looking!

Excellent idea and execution, I especially like the arches. I agree that there should be some light underground - in my opinion this upgrades the appearance of such a setup very much. Concerning the missing loop: By using a monorail as subway (something I'm planning with my PF monorail train) you don't need a loop but the train (or even two trains) would ply between two stop tracks. But since you have built such a great subway car perhaps you won't change the system ...

I guess you aren't talking about 60061 (enough wheels, I guess ). Do you have a set number?
-
Thank you! What's striking about the huge American fire apparatus - at least in comparison to European fire vehicles - is their (relative) lowness compared to their large width. Plus we mustn't "dwarf" the figs too much by the vehicles. Here you see the pumper together with the new Ferrari and a fig to get an impression of the scale:
-
NM = New Mannum, WV = Wandin Valley, understood. - Yeah, another wrecker, but without any SC stuff.
-
Thanks a lot! Usually the large bumpers are carrying all sorts of equipment. Many thanks! Crash tender: Something like this? Thanks a lot LT, looking forward to what you have in mind.

Hi all, just a quick MOC (in fact a MOD of a quite old model) to test how those nice Speed Champions wheels and mudguards can be used for minifig scale purposes. Unfortunately they are much too large for passenger cars (except the hubcaps, see http://www.eurobrick...25#entry2193849), but they do look quite nice on such a truck, especially when the wheels are enlarged a bit. The pumper is an old 8w+ model (and thus too large for the actual scale I'm building in) - anyhow it will be turned to 7w+ some day ... Some more pics: Thanks for looking!
-
Thanks a lot, glad you like them. Many thanks! Guess the Speed Champions will enhance our car building possibilities in many ways.
