The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
strangely replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Finally saw the images of the Joker set on Twitter. I couldn't tell what that mark on Harley's face was previously but now I see it's a tattoo. I sort of like Joker's facial expressions, but I don't know, it sort of reminds me of the Juniors/Mighty Micros faces, so I don't really know how to feel about it. Love the torso, even his buttons are skulls (just like on his tie). I'm intrigued by the molding for Batgirl's hair. It looks like it's being swept to one side like there's a breeze or like she's moving. I guess this means this version will be able to move it's head to a greater angle than the last one. Hopefully we get more pictures soon. $50 is a little steep, but I love the car and minifigures so much. I don't see myself getting the other set though. The vehicle is cool, but they've given us so many bat vehicles in the past I'm not sure I need anything more on that front. Likely Batman and Robin will appear elsewhere, at best only their facial expression seem like they might be exclusive to this set. I don't need the other three minifigures either, though the Kabuki Twins are slightly tempting. Maybe one day if there's a sale on it... -

Other than the goggles and red boots this is pretty much 60s Dick Grayson. Usually he has black hair, but 66 Dick Grayson had brown (I'm sort of guessing they went with brown so the black goggles would stand out more). There's info out there on the story reason for the goofy looking costume. -

Other than the right shaped glasses or orange hair, plus she wears green shoes and not red boots... Also if it were a girl there'd be lip printing... -

I don't know, I kind of feel $50 makes sense. We have three minifigures, each with dual molding, arm and leg printing, new molds and special accessories and that doesn't include all the new parts and colors in the build. So I can understand the price. Also this Carrie Kelly confusion is getting annoying. Carrie Kelly wears rectangular glasses, not round goggles. Her hair is orange, not brown. Her costume is the same as the 60s Robin. This is Not Carrie Kelly! Literally this is just 60s Robin with brown hair and goggles. -

I'm sort of wondering if the Speedwagon will be just one of several Batmobile type vehicles we get. Still can't decide how to feel about Harley's hair, I both like it and don't like it. I love Joker's hair though (It's very Count Olaf to me, hopefully Lego will do me a favor and give us this hair in more colors down the line). -

Yup, the previous one had taller ears and the hair laid against the back of the torso. This one is new and majorly improved. I love that they changed her skin tone to match the actress playing her. Really I like that they were able to diversify the character while still making it obviously her. With the increasing amount of white woman with red hair popping up in comic book genre stuff I was beginning to feel that Barbara Gordon was looking a little too generic, but this design definitely refreshes the character while keeping the elements people care about. The red velvet hair is a good choice too, helps make her more visually different from Batwoman. I gotta say I love this Joker set tremendously. The Batmobile set is good too. I gotta say though, these sets make my purchase of the Steamroller and the Man-Bat sets an absolute waste (Same Man-Bat, better Nightwing available elsewhere too, plus better Batgirl and Joker). -

I thought that Robin's hairpiece was the same as the series 16 Spy hair, but it isn't. The spikes go the opposite direction and the goggles aren't held on in the same way at all, really I'm not sure how they're stuck on there (Interestingly it does look like the goggles have actual lenses like the magnifying glass piece). Also, dual molded legs! I love Joker, love his car and I love Harley (Though I'll likely be swapping hair). Hopefully we get some decent variations too. I'd like a shorter version of the tails cloth piece. And finally a two-seater Batmobile! -
It's possible, Scooby is a part of Batman history (They've even had a few recent team-ups). Plus that's a WB property too.

They had nothing when I was there yesterday... I want to cry! Side-note: is it just me, or is the devil kid's torso Elliot's from E.T.? -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

I grabbed the white librarian ghost hair for use on Storm (I got the brown one too, I just love this hairpiece). I'm super happy about that, finally a decent hairpiece for her! Got the wheelchair for Prof. X. Grabbed a few plain brown books (Glad to find one without printing). A baby (Been wanting to do a Lemony Snicket moc and I needed a Sunny Baudelaire). Spooky Girl hair in brown (For the Snicket moc, Violet needed some hair). I could have gotten more of many things, but I needed to pace myself. The Batcave 66 wallpaper is a bit expensive and I couldn't convince myself to go over $20 on a parts order. It's a slippery slope... -

Nexo Knights books too! They even have the Green Goblins bag! Might have to pick up a few things... -
The weird thing is that the outside is definitely a park set, the inside not so much. Instead the interior doesn't match the park and most of the rooms are based around recreating scenes from movies rather than anything park related. So ultimately I'm a bit confused what they were really going for. I'm guessing budget reasons prevented the correct color from being used. Honestly I don't like that room much except for the fireworks, but given the size of it I can't think of what else could have been put in that space instead.

It's hanging on the left on the inside and no, it doesn't use the princess piece.

Mickey uses Alfred's cloth tail piece in the Disney castle, so seemingly that confirms a physical variant of Alfred. -
Indeed, much merry making and happiness over in the DC/LBM thread. So many people will have the Alfred they've been waiting for.
-
It's the same cloth piece Alfred uses in the Lego Batman Movie I believe. It's the tails of his waistcoat.
-
There is a new style book in there with the slipper, neat detail. Question, because of where the Archery range is, does that mean the main part of the castle can be taken out leaving just the castle walls? I really don't care for Tinkerbell. Another bun piece, I feel like a special piece for that didn't really need to be created. The shoe printing out lazies even the CMF.

Seeing the official pictures I will say that the exterior is absolutely awesome. The one thing I wish they'd done is swap the dark tan pieces of the top spire for gold instead. Otherwise the outside is really good. As for the inside, I'm less impressed now. I still love the foyer (Though I see now that the mosaic sits below the rest of the floor). I like the kitchen and the bedroom too, but the other rooms look kind of bare. The Beauty and the Beast room seems so empty. At the very least they could have given Lumiere his face, it's not like they didn't just print that very part in a Princess set. The sorcerer apprentice room is the worst in my opinion, at least the other rooms have decent mini-builds, this one is just full of generic crap. Two brooms, two buckets, a barrel, a hat, an old style book (Great opportunity to include a new style one with printing to make it a reference to any number of things such as the books that appear in the intro's to several of the old animated movies...) and a very common chest in a decently sized room make for one very uninspired supply closet... Maybe I'm being too critical, but for $350 (Not including tax) the inside seems a bit underdone. This would be more okay if a CMF was out that could fill the empty space with the right minifigures, but with a series 2 being estimated at 2018 this makes the interior seem pretty 'meh' to me. I like Cinderella's slipper though. Too bad we don't get her...

Unfortunately the amount of physical sets they build for the Thor movies have yet to have any correlation to the amount of Lego sets we've gotten (None). I wouldn't hold my breath. With Spider-man and Guardians coming out there might not be that much space left for Thor. Though I do think seeing a Dr. Strange set this year at least makes the odds better.

Unless Lego decides to put out a fourth series in 2017, which given the first series popularity feels like a possibility. Though I don't quite see them breaking the mold yet. Just the same if it is 2018 then it ends up being an odd inclusion to have rooms for specific minifigures that we don't have and won't have for a year and a half at least (Granted we do have Maleficent, Aladdin and the Genie, so there is some compatibility with first wave minifigures). That seems like relatively poor planning on their part. So I don't know, it just feels like they have something up their sleeves. All these references and none of these character just feels so odd. In a way it kind of makes me think about holding off on buying this until there's a better lineup of minifigures.
-
I'm guessing it represents the real suite contained on that level in the actual castle.
-
I don't actually think they'll use Duplo for the sequel. Assuming that several years pass between movies it's likely that the little sister will have moved onto something like Friends by then. I think the Duplo thing was mostly a throw away joke.
-
It's strange, I never really cared for the old Hulk mold and was happy when the AOU one replaced it, but with this coloring I actually kind of love it. It's weird that they stole Joker and Harley Quinn's vehicles though...

I was sort of hoping the build would be awful so I wouldn't have to buy it, but as ever Lego has to outdo themselves. So I'll probably be buying this at some point, granted it will take a while to set aside that much money. Looking at the interior I can't help but think this is hinting at the CMF line up for series 2. The Beauty and the Beast room has two pegs, perfect for Belle with the queen dress piece. A maid version of Cinderella for that kitchen. Aurora for the spinning wheel. Sorcerer Mickey (And to think people were skeptical of that mop piece being used for the magic broom). Evil Queen because of the mirror (Although like the Beauty and the beast room it has the plates almost like a character with a dress piece would be placed there). Got to say the one thing I really don't like about this set is the minifigures, which it's rare for that to not be the selling point in a Lego set. A lot of pointless rehashes. Then again it would be cruel to make a character like Cinderella exclusive to this set only, so maybe variations are for the best. Tinkerbell is nice, but doesn't do much for me because of scale.
