I could be wrong, but it looks like Roadhog's head is actually a separate minifigure head. On the top of the box art his face is looking straight forward, but in the front picture his head is turned slightly to the side, plus in one of the closeups you can actually see his neck below the hairpiece. Overall I really love these two sets. Hopefully we got one more wave after this. I still really need Mei and Torbjorn. Sombra would be welcomed too.

I don't buy the whole licensing excuse. Lego licensed cars for the Speed Champions line, including multiple Ford vehicles, but they can't do a Ford Explorer? Why would that happen to be the one model they can't license? As for scale, they even featured a minifigure scale version of the gate in the designer video (If I buy the set, I'll actually be using the pieces to build that smaller version of the gate). To me, it seems like they wanted to make a big T-rex (Since they had the basic design sitting on a shelf anyways), so they over-sized the gate to match. I feel like they could have went with the smaller gates, an Explorer and a molded T-rex and it probably would have been $50-$100 less.

Honestly, if there was some guarantee that there will be more Jurassic Park sets in the future, I don't think the lack of a Visitor's Center or an Explorer would be an issue. But they've done so few sets for the movie and this last set crammed so many movie scenes into the back of the gate, making it feel like there might not be any more for the first movie.

Yeah, these exclusives are annoying. They really should do a wider release of this one. The level of contempt I'm feeling right now... -
None, I never said that we've had a 27" long brick built T-rex before. My point is that while it's an awesome build, its two largest builds are movie elements that have been adapted into Lego before. Yes, there is some scale, build and branding differences, but that doesn't stop it from being another Jurassic franchise set featuring a gate and a T-rex. I like the set, it looks great. It just would have been nice for them to adapt something we haven't had in any form before.

It doesn't help that out of two Jurassic Park sets we haven't gotten the Explorer yet. Honestly, had the explorer been included I wouldn't have a problem with this set. The gate and Trex have been done before (at smaller scale and with JW branding), so throwing in an element (like the explorer) that we've never had in any form would have been a saving grace. Getting a couple of recycled minifigures is disappointing too. Ellie could have had her shirt color updated given that a more accurate color was introduced into the color pallette. Alan could have had a new facial expression. It's a great set, but doesn't really give us much more than we've had before.

Jurassic World 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

I think the only reason I voted for it was because I wanted the explorer, and was desperate to get anything Jurassic Park. Notably, the Visitors Center also had 10,000 supporters. -

I like the gate. I think the scale is great and it's fairly detailed. I've yet to see the other side of it, so I'll have to reserve judgement on that. Not a fan of the T-rex though. I mean, it's a good design, but I've been buying Dinosaur sets featuring molded Dinosaurs for years, so this one brick-built one doesn't really fit in with the rest. The inclusion of the toilet without Gennaro is an odd choice. Makes me wonder if there's an unannounced set or something to fill this gap. Then again, looking at my Disney Castle, some of the rooms still don't have the proper characters, so perhaps I shouldn't waste my time reading into this. -

I kind of thought that too, but the downside to this approach is that the skirt will just become ruined when it's folded too much anyways, just like the capes. They really should have gone for the softer fabric.- 961 replies

Well, a bunch of people complained here, so I guess that counts. The rest of the world seemed to like it though. It's great that every new license announcement is followed by people murmuring that Lego is debasing themselves again. Though I enjoy the irony that last month Stranger Things was too mature and this month Minions is too immature.

I like the idea of the fabric skirt, but I think the fabric is too rigid for it to work right. This was taken from a factory, maybe they have some sort of process to starch it downwards, otherwise this is going to be one strange looking Minnie. Not sure why they just didn't use the plastic piece again, I thought it was created just so they wouldn't have to do this with the fabric pieces.- 961 replies

In fairness, the sets they produced were incredibly awful. The characters were scaled so large that they couldn't do proper builds of anything. The only good thing they did was the figure series and unfortunately the quality of the plastic and prints was poor to the point that there was like a 50% chance you'd get a messed up one. I actually think this license could succeed. If they scale the Minions down and actually create playsets based on the better designed elements from the franchise like Gru's house and lab then it might sell decently. The Minions should be scaled like a child sized minifigure.

It's because these are Eggo brand waffles, which are smaller than typical waffles. Really, I admire this accuracy, as I'm doubting few would have noticed if they had just cheaped out and used the regular waffle piece.

Stranger Things is a big deal right now. If Lego is really trying to break into the adult collectibles scene, this is probably the theme to go all out on. So I think a CMF is possible, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was marketed differently than the other CMFs. It would also explain some of the character omissions. It would be awesome to see Barb in minifigure form, plus a CMF could give us season 2 characters.
-
It looks like the CMF tea cup is in the carriage set, I'm glad to see that in a regular set finally. That carriage design is pretty amazing, makes me wonder why the Disney carriages always turn out so meh. I really like the new Voldemort, green printing on black is very striking.

I went through an entire case of figures at Walmart and there were no Minnie's, which was pretty irritating since she's the last one I'm looking for.- 961 replies

We have this conversation every year. At the end of the day someone is always getting screwed out of something, so there's really no need for the 'biggest victim contest' especially when it inevitably devolves into 'this country vs that country' or 'we deserve it because we get screwed over that other time'. Staggered release dates suck and everyone has been effected by it at some point, so there's really no point to playing this game. Also, not a fan of the Knight Bus. I had hoped my opinion would improve with better pictures, but I remain as uninterested as before. Honestly, there's just not enough going on in it that I need an entire set based on it. I kind of wish they'd stop giving us version after version of this thing. It's a purple bus with no play features, unless you're a fan of chandelier rattling or bed sliding.

Yeah, I'm unsure when the wave is supposed to hit. Honestly I wish they would finally do away with these different release windows for different regions. After all, if they're doing away with region exclusives, might as well tackle that pesky regional release date too. -
It sort of does look like a different mold. Perhaps it just looks like this because of the angle of the box, then again, maybe not. That would be interesting if indeed there is another new mold. They really went all out for this set. At least 3 new molds, plus 2 new colors for the mid legs. And this is just what's visible so far.

I expect higher up employees not to leak, as at a certain height on the corporate ladder they are probably bound legally by contract not to leak, or are at least compensated well enough not to want to risk it. And factories have security and other safeguards to prevent leaks (though it seems like the further the factory is away from headquarters the more parts walk out the door and end up on eBay). The Lego Store is the lowest rung on the ladder. Their employees aren't bound by contract, there's probably not cameras watching every inch of the backroom and those people probably aren't getting paid enough that getting fired matters that much. At a certain level, you expect leaks, especially since past history has indicated that it will definitely happen at that level.

It definitely looks like the red and black suit. I mean, comparing the color to Maria Hill's dark blue pants standing next to him, it really looks black. So I'm going to be cautiously optimistic. Looks like a pretty decent set, glad it fills in the gaps so well in the main sets. -
It's funny, rumors about this set have been around for quite some time. Knowing that there was someone out there already leaking information, Lego should have sent that email out before the sets started showing up to stores. Though on the other hand, their threat not to ship early probably won't deter people that much regardless.
-
If Lego seriously didn't want this to leak then they shouldn't have shipped it early. I feel like this happens nearly every time. This is why you do an official reveal weeks before releasing the set. There's always going be at least one employee that can't resist snapping a picture.
