I wouldn't mind if the August wave contained remakes of older sets too. I'd love to have a remake of the Gryffindor Common Room, the flying lesson, the winged keys and the vaults of Gringotts.

Is the Beauty and the Beast set normal minifigures or still minidolls? -
I feel like people are being a bit too gloom and doom about these sets, I doubt one year of less than amazing sets is signaling the downfall of the theme. Yes, they're simpler and more kidified than usual, but in fairness, the first two movies are all out kids movies, so I think it makes sense that the sets would reflect that. Even Hogwarts was simpler looking in those movies, with inconsistent architecture and geography. In a way, these sets sort of reflect that vibe. As for the lack of DH sets, I can't say I'm surprised. As much as I love the DH movies, I don't think they're great set fodder outside of the Ministry of Magic and Gringotts. At the end of the day, there are toys and a lot of the content of DH doesn't lend itself that well, whether it's torture, terrorist attacks or just moody and depressing conversations, I think it's a tougher sell. None of this is to say that Lego won't eventually adapt these things into sets, I just think it makes them lower priorities on the list. Too, given the controversy around the Fantastic Beasts series and JK Rowling herself, is anyone that surprised that Lego is going with safe, uncontroversial, perfectly kid friendly sets this year?

Yeah, the torso doesn't look like it belongs to Sinistra. The print looks more like robes over a vest over a shirt. I get the feeling this the Lockhart torso.

I like that the green roofs are back for these sets, it's a great reference to the original theme and I'm on board for that. It's interesting that these 3 Hogwarts sets can combine and don't mix with the previous extensions. It makes me wonder if the exterior of these sets will match the exterior of the early Hogwarts castle. If that's the case, I'm okay with this being a separate modular Hogwarts from the other Hogwarts parts we've received. Hogwarts has definitely gone through a lot of changes, having a model matching the original movie model is actually pretty cool to me. Once again, I'm hoping they take this opportunity to fix some of the uniform variation issues. Getting the remaining robe variants would be great. But I'm also hoping they finally correct the lack of skirts for female students. They could easily give Hermione a gray version of the trolls skirt piece in these sets. Last year it annoyed me that they had no problem doing skirt printing for all those party dress variations, but for a standard Hogwarts uniform it still hasn't happened.

Ashnflash just showed it in his video. It's shows the very top of the tie, but shows no house colors. So it can work for any house, which I think is for the better. It's bad enough waiting for regular style house robes for each house, glad we don't have to add Herbology robes to the list.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 21. Rumors and discussion
strangely replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A very meh series to me. There's so many recycled concepts from earlier series, and if these old ideas also were also at the old price tag, I'd be more forgiving about it. But $5 a hit is a little too much for a what almost amounts to new variants of existing minifigures. Still, the hermit crab and violin are great. And a recolor of the Centaur legs is welcomed, so it's not a complete waste. I sort of imagine they're probably pushing more resources towards the Universal Music series, hence the lackluster CMF series. -
The balcony pieces are the same pieces making up the bay windows in the house too. Those will be super useful.
-
It's so weird to me that the Friends line is introducing curved windows next year when it would have made way more sense to introduce them this year in Diagon Alley. Hopefully they get recoulored in black pretty quickly, it'd be great to use them on Ollivanders.
-
I like student torsos. I'll take an anniversary throwback design over reissuing the same designs again and again.

The Ideas set is emulating a pop up book and is basically a display item that caters to a different audience. As a result I can't say it's overly comparable to the other sets other than it involves a book made of lego. The other sets are playsets that are stored inside of a book, and contain detachable elements and play features. The HP books are a more clear evolution of the Disney books than they are the Ideas book.

I think I was expecting to be disappointed by the books, but honestly, they might be some of my favorite sets so far. They really capture the look of the classrooms and the book function is actually pretty good too. It really feels like Lego took the Disney Princess book concept and reworked it into a much better product. I have to give the designers major credit for really making that concept work. I don't even mind the stickered windows (I'm assuming they're stickers). I can easily see myself getting duplicates of these. Hopefully the minifigures turn out as wonderfully as the builds. Good job Lego!

Marvel Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Hey kids, want to run down Doc Ock in a monster truck!?! I miss the Spiderman movie sets from 20 years ago. Abandoned Warehouses, sinister labs with machinery, and street scenes that actually captured the action and setting of the Spiderman franchise. But sure, more red and blue vehicles. Now with a garage to park them in! Maybe I'll Bricklink a few figures, maybe they won't mostly be repeats like last time. -
I think that makes a lot of sense. One side is the common room featuring a student for the house, and the other side is the classroom of the house head featuring a random student.
-
They're traditional minifigures, they mention short legs and dual molded legs specifically.
-
I'm really excited for these. I've been really wanting some classroom sets, in the vein of what the first Harry Potter line offered. Interesting that Sprout has dual molded legs, perhaps a Deathly Hallows variation? I believe she wears pants in that movie. Since Sprout and Flitwick are new, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Mcgonagall and Snape might be too. Which would make sense given that these two haven't really been updated since their initial introduction in the theme. I'm hoping for a new hat for Mcgonagall, the old witch hat is starting to show its age (And a dress slope). And Snape could definitely use some new facial expressions (but he doesn't really need anything beyond that). I'm hoping they at least give Ron and Hermione some new face expressions since they're stuck with the same old sweaters. It would be great if they manage to include the remaining robes too.

Looking at the pictures more, the only thing I strongly dislike about the minifigures is that they decided to use school robes for the designs for Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco, whereas what they're wearing in that scene is actually capes over casual clothing. I feel like it would have been more accurate to give them cloth capes instead, especially since we've gotten some good cape designs in recent years that are actually pretty close to what's seen in the movie. On one hand, I get the decision to go the route they did, it's cheaper and these are designs that can be reused elsewhere as needed (it's admittedly nice to get some variation to the robes). On the other hand it kind of sucks to put generic variants in a $400 set, especially when this would have been a good opportunity to remake Draco and Hermione's sweaters (Which debuted in the original line almost 20 years ago). Also, it's funny to me that we got Quidditch uniforms for all houses before we got robes for all the houses. Who would have thought, lol.
-
What a bizarre announcement. Unclear wording. 3 minifigure reveals. One quarter of the set revealed in the foreground of a video. Links that go nowhere. I'm perplexed by how this has been handled so far.
-
My main fear with including the Quidditch shop was that it would be kind of lame to get a shop full of outdated Fabuland brooms. Now that I've seen the final product... Yeah, it looks kind of lame to have a shop peddling Fabuland Brooms. I mean, it makes no sense to me that they'll create a special box for wands to recreate one scene, but they won't give us a proper riding broom.
-
I don't expect there to be multiple variations of characters. Seems weird to me if they do that. I expect the Sorcerer's Stone variation of Harry to come with a cloak so he can double as a Chamber of Secrets version. Based on how many Chamber of Secrets references we got this year, I expect a good amount of minifigures will be from this movie (Hermione, Ron, Draco, Lucius). I also wouldn't be surprised if Molly showed up in this set. I feel like her minifigure was really phoned in for the Burrow set. The same was true for Bellatrix and Ginny and parts to fix them appeared in the CMF, so I suspect a better version of Molly will appear in Diagon Alley to fix her mediocre variant in the Burrow (I also feel like some sort of parental figure should appear with these kids given the setting).

He makes legoleak news videos, he already stated he knows as much as the rest of us. This doesn't need to escalate to the usual witch hunt.
-
I'm really looking forward to this minifigure lineup. I'm hoping to fill in some gaps like Lockhart, Lucius and the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff student robes. I'm also hoping they take this opportunity to introduce a new broom. The old one looks pretty out of place in the current sets.
-
Ginny in Gryffindor robes would be a waste unless it was to introduce legs that had printing to represent a skirt under the robe (I know it's a small detail, but it does annoy me that they haven't bothered to represent that, especially this year when they've had no problem doing skirt printing for plenty of other characters). Otherwise we have quite a few Gryffindor robe variations already.

Luna and Myrtyle are on Instagram out of bag. So it's only a matter of time before the leaflet shows up! Luna's legs are nice.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just gave Harry a black cloth cloak element to put over the PS torso to represent his COS look.
