  1. ...So is there a left-facing falcon with black trim on the left hand side? - We've got the rest...
  2. Me? I'm afraid I win competitions! :-$ But I bring MOCs (not enough, IMO :-/ ), reviews and have a position of some standing regarding Classic-Pirates.com...but I ain't sayin' much more about that ;-) I also try and bring revelations, new perspectives and ideas, mixed with a bit of humour :-)
  3. Harr! This be the type of culverin I'm talking aboot! Apparantly it's also known as a falconet. And a bow chaser - just a bow mounted standard long barreled cannon. This one's from the USS Constitution - take note, Phred! :-)
  4. I thought just that, but what pirate hat fully covers the back of the head? Hair? A bandana maybe, but you'de have an eye showing! X-D
  5. EdibleDoorKnob has posted this Pirate vignette on Brickshelf: The Imperial captain has been pursued by the pirates up the mast, but fortunately he has his trusty pistols! With rigging on all four sides, this is a nicely choreographed scene *y* Folder
  6. Ye could try putting one on Bricklink and see how much it goes for...
  7. Me? Troll Battle Wagon
  8. Which bitta Landan ya from blad? N5 on 'do!
  9. Congratulations to Darkspawn for winning the Master Builder prize! *y*
  10. *y* Looks a little big though - could you do something with binoculars?
  11. I believe they were loaded with chain shot to try and chop off other ships' masts. They were mounted on either a pivot or strong metal rail, but were normally on deck, as opposed to standard cannons. A long-barrelled cannon would have a longer, more accurate shot than normal cannons, but with less power, so was used towards the end of the 17th century, when sailing had become such a fine art that sailors would win battles rather than gunners and marines - long chases lasting several days were common. One good shot that knocked out a mast, rigging, ratlines or sail left the other ship floundering without having to come in range of the standard guns. Some culverins were up to 4m long and so could fire for nearly a mile. I didn't know about the musket-related term, but I first found out about them in the Angel's Command, sequel to Castaways Of The Flying Dutchman, by Brian Jaques. I then verified this in a book about naval warfare.
  12. Hey! *y* Which years of Castle/Pirates do you have - It would seem you like Adventurers too - do I presume correctly? :-)
  13. How about a "seed" part contest, like on Classic Castle? Clicky I.e. A contest using a <insert that tiresome argument> part as the main feature... :-)
  14. *y* Find! *y* Larger, cheaper bricks perhaps? I've never tried melthing Lego X-D
  15. Welcome! *y* Anything other than Classic Space? *sweet*
  16. Was this 50 years of the stud and coupling bricks or the older ones with slits and no tubes? 50 years later and it only appears in basic sets |-/
  17. I also believe they can be known as culverins.
  18. Yay for me! X-D Wish I'd won though; I didn't realise you couldn't have composite images, so next time I'll go for a MOC with 3 clear angles, not lots of details that can't really be seen unless highlighted or seen in real life |-/ Um...You missed out Darkspawn - he doesn't frequent here much, but was a winner... Oh, and DNL... This year we shall triumph!
  19. The picture under your username is your avatar: you can change this by going to My Controls > Edit Avatar Settings. The short piece of text under that (if it is there) is your title - mine is BBQ King. You cannot change this, but must earn it in a competition or be given it by an admin or moderator. Don't ask for one - they won't like it! The thing under that is your rank - you're a Vassal, I'm a Pirate King. Your rank increases the more you post, and with new ranks come new powers. Some ranks are not automatic - I won Pirate King in a competition. After the bunch of text underneath that (which can be edited by going to My Controls > Edit Profile Information), there might be a picture, like a trophy or a flag. These tags are like ranks, and must be earned by particular allegiance to a certain forum or by becoming a very high ranking member. Hope this helps *y* Edit: Pfft. Beaten to it. |-/ SlyOwl
  20. Welcome! *y*
  21. Welcome! *y* Hmm...SW seems to be much more expensive than any of the better themes, like Castle and Pirates...IMO... ;-) So you like Ice Planet? What about Arctic Expedition? Some of the Orient Expedition sets? - Yeti e.t.c. Alpha Team 3? :-) SlyOwl
  22. :-) Happy Brithday! *sweet* :-| X-D
  23. I love most of this! *wub* Especially as I got a look in in the flowerbed! Except the roof - it could do with a little texturing here and there...and maybe some grey smoke from the chimneys ;-) - Get rid of the very smooth edge along the top! In that case you must have never seen the Crimson Pirate X-D
  24. Welcome! *y* :-) If ever I do succumb to my "heart", then I would prefer to have an anti-Lego female-associate; in my experience 2 people can't play Lego at the same time! X-D SlyOwl *pirate*
  25. Oh! X-O By eating their legs I thought you meant the individual pieces, not the whole bonanza! They can't be "swallowed" though... And I'm pretty sure I've seen a war monkey on some box art somewhere, although I'm not too sure about it actually engaged in fighting - TLC's conscience got in the way too much to allow any actual fighting to be shown - just some dramatic cutlass-waggling shots, all with great big cheery grins. I think some of the fish from the Ninja sets would be a great addition to the Pirate line, but :'-( it's gone :'-( SlyOwl
